A Sligo TD says the latest allocation of funding announced for Ireland West Airport will assist regional development throughout the North West.

2.8 million euro of the funding will go towards projects at Ireland West including a body scanner, an upgrade to the electrics and an automated weather observing service.

The funding is set to go towards new safety and security upgrades the completion of a solar PV farm project at Ireland West Airport, which will provide the airport with electricity from renewable resources.
