Sligo doctor, Margaret Connolly and her colleagues on the Gaza flotilla were not well treated, and roughed up by Israeli forces, during their detention at a port there.

 

That's according to her husband, Cllr Declan Bree, who finally spoke to his wife last evening after she arrived in Istanbul, having been flown from Israel.

 

Dr Connolly was one of 15 Irish citizens to have been detained by the Israelis after their flotilla vessel was intercepted earlier this week.

 

She is due to return back to Ireland today.

 

Attending a vigil outside the GPO in Sligo last evening, in support of the flotilla activists, Cllr Bree said his wife and her colleagues have had a tough few days in detention.
