The Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council has said the Sligo Greenway will bring benefits to the North West.

 

It comes following backlash over the proposed plan to use the Western Rail Corridor for the Greenway at the expense of the rail project continuing to Sligo.

 

Multiple opposition Oireachtas members in the North West have voiced their displeasure with the measures taken.

 

Fine Gael Councillor Dara Mulvey believes the Greenway won't stop future plans to bring a rail service back to the line:
