A local councillor says services such as the Dublin to Donegal overnight route should always have backup drivers in place to ensure passengers are not left stranded.

He says many people in the region have been affected by buses failing to show up, despite real-time information indicating that they are on the way.

Speaking to Ocean FM News, Cllr Thomas Walsh said standby driver pools at a regional level would be a “common sense” approach to making public transport more reliable and efficient.
