Almost 1,500 first time buyers across Donegal, Sligo and Leitrim have received help to buy or build their first home.

 

 

A break-down of the figures show that 909 applications were successful in Donegal, 457 in Sligo and 131 in Leitrim.

 

The figures form part of a national total of over 64,000 individuals or couples supported by the scheme.

 

 There is up to €30,000 available per first-time buyers.

 

The Tánaiste has today also welcomed Q1 2026 housing completion figures, which show 7,856 new homes completed nationally, a 32.9% increase on Q1 2025.

 

 In the North-West, 230 new homes were completed in Donegal, 72 in Sligo and 34 in Leitrim.

 

Speaking on the figures to Ocean FM news, Simon Harris says housing is the Government's number one priority.
