On Ocean FM's latest Road Safety Focus programme, John Lynch spoke with Leitrim Councillor Pádraig Fallon about the issue and the reasons why roadside vegetation is not being cut back.

A number of listeners have contacted the programme, highlighting concerns that overhanging trees and overgrown roadside verges are creating potential safety hazards for road users.

Councillor Fallon explained where he believes the process is falling down and outlined some of the difficulties surrounding the maintenance and cutting back of roadside vegetation.

The discussion follows growing concerns about road safety and the need to ensure that roads remain safe for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.
