STORY 1:   Infrastructure and Transportation Top List Of Floyd County Legislative Priorities

Rome and Floyd County are setting priorities for the upcoming state legislative session, focusing on infrastructure, transportation, zoning, and land use to prepare for anticipated growth. At a workshop hosted by the Rome Floyd Chamber, participants used symbolic photos to discuss current and future goals. Key discussions included utilizing and expanding water and sewer systems, planning for new housing, and encouraging infill development. The aim is to create a priority list to guide community efforts and communicate effectively with legislators. The final report will be shared with state and federal delegates to secure necessary funding and support.

STORY 4: Georgia School for the Deaf Names Albert Hall in Honor of Former Teacher

The Georgia School for the Deaf honored Stephanie Smith Albert by renaming a dormitory Albert Hall, recognizing her impactful work as a guidance counselor. At a ceremony, her widower, Tim Albert, spoke of her kindness and dedication to students. Despite her short six-year tenure, Stephanie left a lasting impression, cherished by students and staff. After moving to Ohio, her unexpected death in 2018 deeply affected the school community. The renaming, part of the school's 175th anniversary celebrations, was decided by a landslide vote. Tim Albert unveiled the new name during the school's homecoming weekend, where he served as grand marshal.

STORY 5:     Ware Mechanical Weather: Cooler Temperatures May Bring Frost Over The Next Few Days

Cooler air is moving in, with temperatures dropping through the weekend. Overnight lows will fall into the 30s, with frost and freezing possible in northern areas. This follows recent heavy rain totaling 3.6 inches. Thursday will be chilly, with a high of 54°F and gusty winds. Lows will dip to 33°F, increasing frost risk. Friday's high is 52°F, with similar overnight lows. The weekend will be sunny but cool, with highs between 57°F and 63°F and lows near freezing Saturday, rising to the low 40s Sunday. Temperatures will warm to near 70°F by Monday, with a slight chance of showers early next week.
