STORY 1: Carroll County Deputy Shot While Executing Search Warrant
Carroll County Deputy Taylor Bristow was critically injured when he was shot in the head while assisting the GBI with a search warrant on Don Rich Drive, Carrollton, early Tuesday. The shooting occurred around 8:30 a.m. The suspected gunman is deceased, and the public is reported to be safe. Bristow is in surgery at Grady Memorial Hospital. Governor Brian Kemp has expressed support for Bristow, his family, and the law enforcement community. The deputy has served with the sheriff’s office for six years.
STORY 2: Gordon County Moves Forward on Temporary Morgue
Gordon County officials have approved funding to temporarily convert an old evidence building into a morgue. The $29,125 project, managed by Momon Construction, addresses immediate needs while a permanent facility is planned. The temporary morgue will include a sink, loading pads, a viewing window, and a vestibule. County Administrator Jim Ledbetter and Coroner Bo Nicholson highlighted the urgency and importance of this upgrade. The new morgue will eventually be replaced by a new E911 complex, with Nick Blalock likely to be the next coroner after the November election.
STORY 3: Ringgold Man Busted in Church Theft
William Michael Crawley, 45, of Ringgold, was arrested on Aug. 18 for multiple charges, including theft, criminal damage, and possession of meth. He is accused of stealing an HVAC unit from Mission Glen Baptist Church in Rossville on Aug. 11. Crawley was apprehended driving a stolen truck from Tennessee, matching the description of the vehicle used in the theft. His bond is set at $7,639.50, and he will be extradited to Hamilton County, Tennessee, after posting bail.
