FORT WALTON BEACH —A 54-year-old woman was arrested Sunday after she allegedly placed a water bottle filled with what appeared to be gasoline on top of a propane tank at the Tom Thumb gas station on James Lee Road. Dana Rena Melson was charged with one count of making or possessing a destructive device, a third-degree felony, according to an arrest report from the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office. On the exterior of the 30-ounce plastic Aquafina water bottle, was a piece of blue cloth that smelled like gasoline, the report said. The cloth was also partially in the bottle. After being read her Miranda rights, Melson said she made the device. Prior to the incident, Melson was asked to leave the gas station and refused. A deputy issued her a trespassing warning and she left. When the deputy returned to give the manager a copy of the warning, he was told about the bottle.
