Dee Thompson, the long-time director of animal services at Okaloosa County’s Panhandle Animal Welfare Society, has resigned.The resignation came unexpectedly at about noon Wednesday in a text message sent to members of the PAWS executive committee, said Bonnie Stein, a member of the PAWS governing board. “It was Dee’s decision and Dee’s alone,” Stein said. “It came as a total surprise to us. We are working our way through it.”
