There were extremely tense scenes in Drumcree over the weekend where a planned Orange parade was met with nationalist protesters.

 

The Northern Ireland Parades Commission ruling permitting the Orange Order to march on Garvaghy Road was upheld in an "unprecedented" late-night sitting of the High Court in Belfast on Saturday.

 

Before that permission was refused in an earlier court sitting.

 

A number of local politicians from Sinn Féin joined the nationalist community in solidarity, including Sligo-Leitrim Deputy Martin Kenny, who earlier shared his experience on this morning’s North West Today:
