The woman who allegedly left her newborn in a trash can appeared in New Hanover County District Court Monday, where no developments in the case were made.

Maryuri Estefany Calix-Macedo, 21, was charged with first degree attempted murder Saturday, two days after the boy was discovered by a woman walking her dog nearby.

She was given an $800,000 secured bond.
