Windstream to stop offering cable television service

View descriptionShare

Customers of Windstream in Davidson County will no longer be able to receive cable television service after April 1, according to recent information released by the company. Windstream customers in the area recently received notification via a letter that the company will discontinue cable television service and will instead offer a streaming service app, which can be utilized on a variety of electronic devices. Scott Morris, a spokesman for Windstream, said the decision to discontinue cable service and switch to streaming services is because there has been a change in how a majority of citizens watch television. Windstream will be offering Kinetic TV streaming service to replace traditional cable television services. Morris said this downloadable app provides many channels in HD and comes with a built-in cloud DVR for recording programs with the ability to easily replay up to three days of recently-aired programs from many channels. Morris said switching to the new streaming service will not require customers to purchase any new equipment, but they must have at least a 10 mbps internet connection.
