Two people are in custody after a man was shot during an armed robbery on Friday.

The Jacksonville Police Department was dispatched to home in the Carolina Forest area at 2:26 p.m. Friday for reports of a person being shot, according to a press release from the police department.

Austin Evans, of Jacksonville, was transported to Naval medical Center Camp Lejeune to be treated for his injuries and has since been released, according to the police department.

Witnesses in the area gave officers descriptions of the suspects, according to the release. The police department, assisted by the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office K-9 deputies, set up a perimeter and took two suspects into custody.

The names of the suspects have not been released at this time.

“This is considered to be an isolated incident with no threat to public safety,” according to the release. “The investigation continues to be active and open.”
