An officer with the Wilmington Police Department fired a shot in a Christmas Day incident.
Officers went to South 10th Street at around 10:30 p.m. Dec. 25 in reference to a domestic dispute. The caller told them the suspect, 23-year-old Devante Malik Pugh, had choked her, pointed a gun at her, and was threatening to kill her granddaughter.
According to the department's preliminary investigation, officers found Pugh and the victim standing near a vehicle. When Pugh refused verbal commands to stop and instead entered the house, an officer followed Pugh and fired one shot from the doorway, which did not hit Pugh, said the press release.
Another officer then deployed a taser. Pugh allowed officers to take him into police custody.
