Of all the food available at the North Carolina State Fair, perhaps none are as iconic as the country ham biscuit. Popular at breakfast, but available all day, it's been a must-have for many fairgoers for decades. The epicenter of ham biscuits at the fair is Restaurant Row, where the vendors, many of whom have been serving at the fair for decades, eschew the extravagant and over-the-top in favor of classic regional fare. As the fair returns this year after being canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there are plenty of ham biscuits to go around and if the lines out of the door during the morning hours are any indication, fairgoers' appetite for the ham biscuits hasn't gone away either.
