Mount Holly City Council recently approved a new pay plan for its police department that city leaders hope will help both recruit and retain officers as the city continues to grow.

In its Nov. 9 meeting, City Council unanimously approved an increase of base pay and percentage salary increases for police officers based upon their years of experience. The increases will be distributed over the next few years.
