A man has been arrested in connection with a Wilmington shooting. Police responded to a report of a shooting at Litchfield Way near 5:20 p.m. Wednesday, where they found a 20-year-old man with a gunshot wound at the scene. 

Thomas Sheppard, the suspect, surrendered on site. He has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and is detained at the New Hanover County Jail under a $100,000 bond. 

The 20-year-old was taken to the New Hanover Regional Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. He has not been identified.
