A Gastonia woman accused of murdering the man she lived with on Sunday was on the receiving end of gunfire from him last year.
Tearful, and sobbing at times, 31-year-old Valencia Ferrari McLean told District Court Judge Angela Hoyle Monday she would seek representation through the public defender’s office.
Hoyle declined Monday to issue McLean bond in the case. McLean will remain in custody until at least after prosecutors bring the case before a grand jury later this month.
McLean was charged with first-degree murder Sunday after police were called to her home at 3168 River Trace in Gastonia shortly after 2 p.m. in reference to a domestic-related shooting. Willie Breeden, 33, of the same address, was transported to CaroMont Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the chest and later died.
