The words and “Black Lives Do Matter” and “End Racism Now” that were painted around The Market House in Fayetteville were being removed Monday, Jan. 11. The words were painted by artists in June following the death of George Floyd and the protests that followed. The city of Fayetteville partnered with the Cool Spring Downtown District, The Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County and Fayetteville State University for the project. Councilwoman Shakeyla Ingram said the message was only designed to be there temporarily.
