The Wilmington City Council met in closed session Monday, with two matters on the agenda that concerned a police officer the city fired in June.
After the council's regular agenda briefing Monday, council members voted unanimously to go into closed session to discuss, among other matters, an appeal by fired former Wilmington Police Officer James B. "Brian" Gilmore, who is appealing his firing to the Wilmington Civil Service Commission.
