South Africa’s unemployment rate remains above 30%, with youth unemployment exceeding 40%, highlighting the urgent need for scalable, job-creating sectors. Agriculture contributes approximately 2–3% directly to GDP, but its extended value chain (processing, logistics, retail and exports) has a far greater economic footprint.
