Effects of Polygamy On Children. Polygamy is the practice of marrying multiple spouses, involving either polygyny (one man, multiple women) or polyandry (one woman, multiple men). While rare globally (approx. 2% of the population), it is mostly found in parts of Africa and the Middle East, legal in some regions but illegal in much of the world.
