When Gabbie Stroud shut the door on her primary school classroom in 2014, she knew that she was leaving teaching forever. Between the growing curriculum, demanding parents and standardised tests like Naplan, Gabbie had begun to see her role not as a teacher, but as a data analyst.

Now Gabbie has written a memoir, Teacher, which tells her story: How she came to teaching, what our kids need from their teachers - and what finally broke her.

Portrayals of happy mums are everywhere, but rarely do we see women who choose not to have children shown in a positive light. 

Ten years ago, journalist and editor Farrah Storr decided to be a non-parent. In the years since that decision, she has learned so much about the many ways a woman can live a rich, connected and fulfilling life without having children. And lucky for us, she’s turned her observations into a list of aha moments and beautiful surprises that we can all learn from, whether we are parents or non-parents, and she shares them with Mia Freedman in this episode of No Filter.

What would you do if your husband cheated? And what if you found out about it at the same time the whole world did. That’s what happened to Nia. She found out her husband, Sam, had been unfaithful to her when all the data from the Ashley Madison website was leaked in one of the largest data breaches ever.

Sam & Nia participated in a documentary about Ashley Madison on Netflix - but in this episode of No Filter, they share parts of their story with Mia that they haven’t shared before.It’s a raw, honest conversation with a couple who have been through so much and a really intimate look at the complexities of infidelity and of forgiveness.
