High school students across Wisconsin will be competing in the Skills USA Wisconsin Culinary Arts Competition at NTC on Friday. Advisor Wendy Holt joins us to talk about what the kids will be expected to do.

Lauri Maegli joins us to talk about the CWETA production of Cats coming to the Grand Theater in Wausau February 9th through 12th, all performances are at 7pm. It will be quite the production with over 100 students on stage and in the orchestra. 

The Fairy Tale Ball is the Playhouse Theater Group's big fundraiser for the year. It's coming up on February 19th. It will be a magical experience for the whole family. April 24th help beautify our wonderful Wausau community by volunteering for Ghidorzi Green & Clean. https://www.ghidorzigreenandclean.com/ How the event will work this year: Volunteers will report directly to their registered cleanup site rather than starting the morning with a kickoff at Corporate Cove as we have done in previous years. Selecting your cleanup site has been built into our convenient online registration, which is required for all participants. Volunteers will pick up their official Ghidorzi Green and Clean supply kit the week leading up to the event, which includes a free safety green T-shirt for each registered participant, trash bags, gloves and printed site maps. Volunteers will clean up their registered site from 9-11 a.m., leaving bags of trash in a visible roadside location. A driver will be assigned to each cleanup site and will make the rounds picking up the bags. Everyone is invited to tune in to the Ghidorzi Green and Clean social media channels for fun filled photos from the event! Sharing your pictures and experience is also highly encouraged.

Mosinee High School senior, Alexia Pfeiffer, is a published author! Her book "Albert The Frog" is available now on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/ALBERT-FROG-Alexia-Pfeiffer/dp/B08R9QM9Q8 Alexia like Albert the Frog had some difficulties when learning to speak and read. She shares her struggles in this adorable children's book to show kids that they can overcome obstacles.  Using proceeds from the sale of the book she has created a foundation to award scholarships to Marathon County Teens. 

School looks different this year and parents and kids alike have some adjusting to do. There is a protest scheduled for Saturday, August 8th from 10am-12pm by Parents for Wausau Schools Reopening. Parents in the Wausau school district voted for kids to return to school in person, but the school board ultimately decided that it was safer for the students to begin the school year virtually due to the community spread of Covid-19.
