The Black Room is a (hopefully) weekly podcast with Nikki Blakk & Steve Gorman from 107.7 The Bone (KSAN FM) San Francisco. You heard that right, The Black Room's very own Steve Gorman was nominated for the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame with his former band, The Black Crowes and even though we regularly criticize the Rock Hall, we're just gonna be happy about this one for a change 😉

Metallica hasn't opened for Ozzy since 1986, but now they're part of the final Black Sabbath concert in Birmingham, England and Nikki is making the trip. We keep trying to get into going to the movies, but the movies are making it hard and Steve got confrontational in the theater. We talk about Chappell Roan's Grammy Speech and how the music industry is an anomaly for compensation. Guns n Roses are still hacking away at Chinese Democracy & we are wondering what it would take to get Izzy Stradlin back? Last, but not least, we're gettin a curry!

We’re both tired from the weekend, but we can rally to get into our feelings about Nicolas Cage playing John Madden in an upcoming biopic, which leads to football season starting and Steve’s experience sports betting as Nikki takes on a new sports picking endorsement, which of course leads us to Vegas baby! We mourn the loss of Phil Donahue by celebrating his greatest episode “Real Peter Criss vs Fake Peter Criss” and that puts us in the time machine marveling at how we survived a world before the internet and luggage with wheels?! Steve tells us about touring in the ‘80s before GPS & what it was like moving from Baltimore to Kentucky at 10 years old in 1975.

We have been having non-stop thoughts about the Aerosmith cancellation and of course as people who have been on tour, (In Steve’s case- A LOT) we have the insider track on the Journey lawsuits. We’re letting go of the “No original members” grudge in rock, mostly, but we still hold the “Farewell Tour” grudge. We wrap it up with Rock star dads like Metallica & HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEVE!

We're excited for Steve's pending trip to NYC, where he's getting the same cheese that Nikki had shipped to SF. Cheese lovers unite! We pass judgement on the two Tennessee Eagles tribute bands who are suing each other. Steve updates us on his eye surge & Chauncey the Wonder Dog's leg surgery. We go over some new binges, like Three Body Problem, Baby Reindeer and Argyle. We also find out Steve is deathly afraid of snakes, while Nikki played with them as a child. Is anyone surprised? 😂

We are talking about Gene Simmons claiming he sold the remaining KISS catalogue to the ABBA hologram team as an act of friendship and not about the money. Steve talks about the secret to a long term relationship with the benefit of his 34 years with his wife. We talk about how angry comic book guys get when a woman is cast as a super hero. We also chuckle over The Who declaring they're done, while also planning a tour to support their "elevated lifestyle." We discuss Timothee Chalamet's pending portrayal of Bob Dylan and Cate Blanchet's past portrayal. Throw in some Baltimore bridge explosion and season 2 of The Wire for good measure. 

We start off talking about the impending ding black ice apocalypse in Minnesota, but end up talking about an epic party in a soybean field in Indiana. We marvel over the convict who escaped from jail, only to be hit by a car, that left the scene. Steve points out that some countries don't punish jailbreaks and that he's never been to Hawaii. Steve gives us the update on why we live in California...er, rather about how a blizzard is hitting Minnesota, but the locals are unfazed. Steve gives us the update on his dog Chauncey's injury after hitting a bus. We lament not having proper St Patrick's Day meals, while speculating on the Mike Tyson match up with a You Tube boxer. Steve tells us a bout the new eye procedure that will give him perfect vision for the rest of his life & it's 🤯 Steve's dog Chauncey tries to take down a school bus, but wasn't successful, He's going to be ok, but he'll be in a cast for awhile and might need surgery. We talk about how this was the least annoying Oscar Awards broadcast to date, which is all we can really ask for in an awards show. Nikki has a bad experience with American Airlines after the Monsters of Rock Cruise and we wrap with the misheard lyrics from "Blinded By the Light."

In this episode we chat about the Barbra Streisand autobiography as well as Steve's experience recording his audiobook. We marvel at the most unbelievable band story, where a singer decided to dose his bass player with estrogen in a misguided attempt to steal his fiancé. We are thrilled that John Stewart is back on The Daily Show. We consider the pilgrimage to Ozzy's last shows in England and it turns out The Beatles and Monty Python made us both Anglophiles. Canadians are awesome too and we talk about how Rush kept Neal Peart's condition secret for his last years. There are some new additions to the Baseball Hall of Fame and we look at one of them.

We had some technical difficulties to start but it's fixed in time to talk about fans suing Madonna because she was late and they had to get up early, Spoiler Alert: They're going to lose that lawsuit.
