In a move to improve voter turnout, Swampscott is considering allowing 16- and 17-year-olds to vote in local elections. The proposal is part of a broader effort that also includes moving town elections from the spring to November and providing childcare during annual town meetings. If residents support the measure, town officials would still need approval from the Massachusetts Legislature before lowering the voting age could take effect.
