Marcel Vernon, the former CEO of the MCCA, was brought in to lead the organization with the goal of prioritizing inclusivity and equity after allegations of racial bias and discrimination publicly surfaced. Marcel resigned from his position just over a year after being on the job. The Joint Committee on Racial Equity, Civil Rights and Inclusion held a public hearing last week, which Marcel testified at, focusing on the MCCA’s efforts to curb issues related to racial discrimination. Marcel stopped by to discuss his year with the MCCA and why he chose to walk away.
