A new tool with a 99% success in helping clean procedural and clinical areas of bacteria and viruses, like COVID 19, is now in use at the Sydney Adventist Hospital.
The cleaning system, called THOR, uses UV C light, looks like the R2D2 robot from Star Wars and is an addition to the existing systems that already mean the Hospital has excellent minimal infection rates, but Sydney Adventist Hospital Head of Orthopaedic surgery Dr Rod Brooks was a key advocate for the new surface disinfection system because bone or joint infections can be particularly debilitating and hard to eradicate.
The system, funded by the San Foundation’s kind donors, was ordered long before COVID 19 but its arrival is very fortuitous.
Dr Brooks joins John Stanley.
