View descriptionShare

We hear commonly about iron deficiency, but in fact the reverse, an excess of iron, is the most common genetic disorder in Australia with 1 in 200 Australians genetically predisposed to the disorder

People with Haemochromatosis absorb too much iron from their diet.

1st -7th June was Haemochromatosis awareness week.

Treatment for iron overload involves the removal of blood to reduce excess iron.

Sydney Adventist Hospital linked Fox Valley Medical and Dental Centre General Practitioner Dr Bronwyn Edwards joins John Stanley to discuss the often underdiagnosed condition.
