This Friday the 17th of September is WHO’s World Patient Safety Day. This Day was established in 2019 to help increase global understanding of patient safety, increase public engagement in health care safety, and encourage global action to prevent and reduce avoidable harm in health care. Every year a theme is chosen to focus on a priority area. This year the theme is “Safe maternal and newborn care”.

Here in Australia, we are very lucky to receive safe and quality care by skilled health care professionals in supportive health care environments. However sadly this is not the case for all countries. 

Joining us today to discuss maternal and newborn care here, and also share with us an initiative called My Sisters Baby, is San Obstetrician and Gynaecologist – Dr John Keogh.
