GPs urge patients to stay safe as temperatures soar

As a prolonged heatwave grips large parts of Australia, with temperatures tipped to soar past 45 degrees in some regions, health experts are urging Australians not to shrug it off as “just another hot spell.” 

The Royal Australian College of GPs is warning that extreme heat can be deadly, particularly for those most vulnerable, and that complacency can be dangerous even for the young and fit. 

Bill speaks with Dr Michael Wright, President of the RACGP, to explain the real health risks of extreme heat and what Australians can do right now to stay safe.
