In late 2025 and early 2026, the conversation around the "AI threat" to the Australian workforce shifted from theoretical warnings to a major policy pivot within the Labor government.

Ed Husic, who was a primary architect of Australia's proposed AI regulations, has recently moved from the Industry and Science portfolio. Following his move, the government released its National AI Plan (December 2024–2026), which marked a significant departure from Husic's original "hard" regulatory stance.

Ed spoke with John to discuss the ongoing threat of AI to the workforce in Australia now and into the future.
