Are you prepared for another summer of extremes?

View descriptionShare

Australia’s summer doesn’t really do “mild.” According to the Bureau of Meteorology, we’re staring down the barrel of one of the hottest summers on record — with heatwaves, storms, floods, bushfires and the ever-present chance of cyclones all thrown into the mix.

For many Australians, that’s uncomfortable. For people living and working on the land, it can be mentally exhausting. After years of droughts, floods and fire — sometimes back-to-back — resilience can start to feel less like a badge of honour and more like a heavy expectation.

Bill checks in with Rural Mental Health Advocate Warren Davies, also known as The Unbreakable Farmer, who works closely with regional Australians who are feeling pushed to the limit. While Warren says rural communities are incredibly tough, he also knows toughness doesn’t mean you don’t feel it.

Warren talks about mentally preparing for another summer of extremes — and some simple, practical ways to build mental strength when nature refuses to give you a break.
