Eight female surf boat rowers from a collection of surf clubs up and down the coast are attempting to cross the Bass Strait from the mainland down to Tasmania in a surf boat.

They're doing it to raise awareness and money for the Red Nose charity.

And yesterday, they set a world record for the longest distance travelled by any surf boat marathon crew in one day - a whopping 89km.
