Okay uh.
The game that just ended moments ago, the Lions dominated the Roncos forty two to seventeen. Jared Goff threw five touchdown passes. He was twenty four to thirty four two seventy eight five touchdowns. The Lions are now tenny four and can clinch a playoff spot with the Seattle loss on Monday. They can clinch the division title for the first time with a win over the Vikings on Christmas Eve. So watching this game, what was what was one of your big takeaway from the game.
I mean the big takeaways from the game is the Lions looked like the Lions that we used to seeing throughout the entirety of the season. Obviously, they had they had a few they had a few games where we were like, what happened? What is going with Jared Goff? He was turning the ball over a lot, and those turnoffs cost cost him, cost the team. You know, some of those games, some of those points, they weren't able to overcome that. But today Jared Goff looked like himself, obviously said twenty four for thirty, four for two seventy eight five t d's a mon Saint brown boy. That boy nice man. Yeah, that boy is the real deal man.
Yeah.
He was seven for one to twelve with a t TDD. They Jamier Gibbs Man. Listen, I'm not saying he's Chris Johnson, but they're There are only so many backs in the NFL that can hit their head off the goal post from anyone on the field, and he's one of them. And I can't wait to see him break one, just so I can see him get out there and scap one time, just one time. He played well today. Goddamn Sam Laporta. He was very officient as well.
Fou he legit, he might he might be. He and Kittle might be. The Pro Bowl are representative for tight ends in the NFC. He's really really good. Okay, you're right right, because he's having he has great numbers and their winning.
Yeah. Yeah, but they just look good. Man. They look good all the way around, especially defensive. But I wanted to focus more on the offense because the offense is sputtered a little bit, especially with golf and the turnovers. But the offense look good today, very very efficient.
They look very very good. Everybody got involved.
You mentioned, You mentioned Laporta, the tight end, You mentioned amind Saint Brown, wide receiver, Jameis and Williams had a big game.
Josh Reynolds making plays. You mentioned David Montgomery.
He starts the game, but Jamiir Gibbs comes in, spells him and like he's one of the few backs. And I get what you're saying. Oho, he looks like he's running fast. A lot of guys don't look like they're moving, you know. He looked he looks like he's fast. He looked like he's trying to get someplace in a hurry. But they were really they were really good once they got their rhythm. Because if you remember o Cho, the first if I'm not mistaken, the first three drives they punted the football, but then all of a sudden they get their rhythm and they go touchdown, touchdown, touchdown, touchdown, punt, touchdown again. And so it just shows you the explosiveness that they have. I thought the Broncos were moving the ball fairly well and then one turnover change.
The whole complexion of the ball.
Game with a role complex trying to throw the screen right, it was a screen right.
Well, sometimes oho, you know what, and I get it, you know, trying to get the ball away. Sometimes you just eat it. Sometimes you just eat and say, you know what, that's a ten yard lost. Let me come back and try to get it on second down. Let me try and recoup some of that on third down. But the thing that you don't want to do is turn the football over. And even though the Broncos defense didn't give up points, it's the fact that it took a lot out of your celle offense right, and they really can never get back on track. And then we saw I saw this quarter touchdown and they call off sides and I still didn't see who the off side was on. But I guess it is saying one of the offensive linemen helmet was over the ball, but I couldn't see it. But maybe you saw something that maybe somebody in the chant saw something that I didn't.
The calls are getting a little bit ridiculous, a little bit ridiculous now. And now obviously because of what happened, obviously because of what happened with Carderias Tony. Now they're just gonna be calling every They're gonna be nick picking and calling every thing. So now everything has to be perfect when it comes to alignment.
Because you know what happened, O Joe, you know what happened, Andy Reid said. Every what they do is that they gather all because they get all the footage from every game, and it's like this guy's offside, we'll get that defensive line.
They sent it to the league office and then the League office tell all the referees, now you got naive ruined it for every guy, damn body.
That's it. That's it.
You know, you know how somebody do something that they tell, man, why you told you ruined it for everybody? But you got caught. You just go ahead and bite that bullet. You worried about everybody else. Not everybody got to be.
On the ga. Everybody got a something.
But they were the Quinn manias.
Uh.
They said he was off side, said his helmet was over what the center had it?
Maybe he got maybe he got a big head. What if his head big and he can't really he really can't help or control him. Haven't been off side.
But here's my thing, though, O Joe, I don't know what because I saw that. You saw that play and then you see Sean Payton light into Russell Wilson. I don't know how you expect Russell to see that. Tell me, man, you need to back up. You think that's what it was for?
Though, you know, don't? I don't know.
You know it's funny, you know it's funny. Is I like that? I like the coach getting into his quarterback when something isn't going right. I think it's a cardinalson a rule number one. He never chanced has your quarterback? You never chanced as your quarterback in front everybody. You always do it behind closed doors, you whisper it or.
You definitely don't do it.
And that your television, Yeah, you definitely don't do it on that. But the fact, I think that the relationship in order for them, even though they lost today, for that relationship and that match rations process that Sean Payton and Russell Wilson have, I think for it to get where they wanted to go. Things like that, you need to be able to be able to take that because he expects greatness out of you in order for the Broncos and that team to get where they need to get to. Whatever mistakes or whatever he was chastising Russell Wilson for, you can't make those mistakes. You can't whatever it might be.
But I don't know if he made a mistake because you remember O Joe. It was the touchdown and they called it off sides. So I'm just trying to figure out what how Russ was that fault. Russ was great on that drive.
So we didn't see. It had to be something to see.
Because he hit the running back on the Texas route. He almost got in. He did the pitch to uh Javonte Williams. He almost got in and then they ended up and then they ended up running the little belly play to the fullback. He did get in, but they threw the flags and he's outside, So I don't know. So maybe it was something that transpired Ojo during the drive that we didn't see. But that's that's very strange to see the head coach light up the quarterback Russell Wilson type. Now we've seen him jump all over A Mullins, the guy that filled in for that, uh, the backup in Minnesota. We've seen him get on second you know second a level of third, you know, third string quarterback, but never never the startup, especially of that ilk. And so for for for for that to happen, something had to seriously go wrong.
But like I said, maybe we missed it.
Uh, it couldn't have been on the three plays that I looked at in which the scored. Uh Uh, they run a little Texas route. The running back gets stopped at the one, Javonte Williams. I thought he got in. He gets stopped at the one, and then they run the belly to the fullback. He ended up getting in and then they called off side. So uh, I really don't I really don't know what Peyton got so upset about.
Yeah, but you know what else? You know, But I think about it the fact that do you remember when's the last time the Lions went to the playoffs? You remember a year? Where year was?
Probably I know the last time they won the division was ninety three?
Okay, they wanted the vision.
I think I think they went to the playoffs in twenty eleven. It might be twenty eleven.
Twenty eleven with it, there must have been a wild card. Huh, yeah, they were. Yeah, they ain't want a division now. Yeah, well listen, they.
Don't make correct I was, I mean, I just say as I'm sorry, I'm sorry, you know, you know, I just yeah, they did.
Yeah, I think I think they. I think they're gonna win the division this year too. Listen, the Lions. The Lions remaining schedule, They had the Vikings Christmas Eve, Christmas Eve, then they got the Cowboys. If I'm not mistaken, right, Yes, the Lions, the Lions of four and oh like this this season, the lines of four and oh in primetime games they have they haven't lost, they haven't lost in prime time. Obviously, that's the best. That's the best. In the NFL, and I think they're going to win their first division titles since ninety three. Ninety three.
Actually they went again. They went to the playoffs also in twenty sixteen.
Runs I see, yeah, twenty sixteeny they lost in the rold card the goddamn to the seahawkswks.
Yeah, but I thought, I thought thought, I thought the Lions defense a g Aaron Glenn's that's why they get up your quarterback. They pursuit to the football. Nobody gives up. Somebody runs down the field. You see defensive lineman chasing. That's what you like to see. The dbs are not giving up on plays they can see no catches. They're fighting to the very end trying to pull the ball out. So you'd like to see that. The Broncos defense did not have one of their better playing games. But you know, sometimes sometimes when you're on the road and the home team gets it rolling, it's hard to stop that.
Evan top Yeah, it is. It's hardest. Yeah. Yeah.
And if one person can't stop it.
At all, no, not come out of it. Somebody to make a play, a big play.
Yeah, you get a pick a scoop and score or something like that hit the quarterback, the ball comes out, they come up.
You know what I really like man from God, damn from from the Lions. That guy damn Brian Branch.
He oh yeah from Alabama.
Oh man, man, boy, he that young fella all over the place. Man, I like him.
I like him a little. Oh.
They got those linebackers off hustle. What's the what's the one from Idowa? What's the one from Iowa award?
Yeah?
Yeah, he wasn't the buckets for a couple years ago. Yeah, both of them inside back of chase the football. They down here, guys, yeah, down here? And sideline the sideline.
Yeah yeah, yeah yeah.
Uh. The Bengals, Your Bengals winning over time to keep them playoff. Hope who they twenty seven twenty four. But I believe Minnesota head coach be fire for throwing the ball for first of all, Oh Joe, yes, sir.
The only team that can run the tush push you too, oh, the Eagles.
And that it's all based on the offensive line. I'm sure. I'm sure the head coach knew that. You knew that one for the work.
What are you doing?
And you run it twice and you got a running back that's already had run for one hundred and thirty two yards, and you don't give him the ball once. And then you have your smallest offensive line the all the smallest offensive player doing the pushing. Yeah, you ain't got you ain't got a three hundred pounds offensive lineman. You ain't got none of that. You got one hundred and eight one hundred and seventy pounds little wide receiver pushing them in the back.
Yeah.
And you know, this is the funny thing. This is the funny thing about it. It's all about matchups, skill, leverage. What's the other word I'm looking for when it comes to that in tier alignment, the meat and potatoes of it. Y offensive line with the Eagles and the offensive line for the god damn Vikens is night and day, Yes, night and day. The line with the Bengals matches up extremely well and much better than the offensive line of that of the Minnesota Vikings. That is why the push didn't work an inch a yard? You know how much a yard is.
Yeah, that's this. You didn't get that.
You couldn't get that twice? What does that tell you?
Right? You got what you got? No push from your offensive line? You won't fit. Get right? What Rita had gotten hurt, so he wasn't.
In the in the ball I forgot I found the other guy thing but they but they didn't get any push o Joe and so but here's my thing. Okay, you ran that play on third down. Why not give it to your running back who's been running all day? Challa had been running all up and down the bay. He've been running up up and down the field. Now, but you got to think about it. Now we're on the goal line. Do you really want to run out on the goal line and then you know they bringing the cherla put the ball in his hand on the goal line, or you want your backup quarterback with the ball in the goal line?
Which one you won't?
I know one thing? You know, you know what would happened. You know what happened obviously. I think if I him the blitz and you you were gonna get that, how about you, daddy?
That's what the Bengals did. Guess what the Bengals did. The Bengals tried to push and on board down. Who did they get the ball to Joe Mixon? What did Joe Mixon do? He got blasted? He's fun off the guy and got the ball in the end zone.
That's what you do.
You give the ball to guys that are used to carrying the ball and goal to go situation. Quarterbacks are not used to carrying the ball and go to go situation. And on the fourth down, mullins because the sinner got stimned, he ended up fumbling the ball and so now he lose control of the ball, He gets no momentum.
He got pushed back further than what the original lot of scrimmage.
Was, right right, right right.
Sometimes coaches ojo, they go, they overthink it. Listen, there's a reason why you got Chandler back there. You was willing to move on from Dalvin Cook for a reason. You was willing to move on from Dalvin Cook. So obviously, plus also the other guy, forget the other guy that was running. Chandler might be a rookie, but there's a what's the other guy named the running back? He had a pumbling problem though, so he might be. He had a pumbling problem earlier this year.
Right, Hey, them got man, my goddamn Bengals man. Listen, win They found a way to win. And the funny thing about it is towards the end of the game, I was tweeting out what was going to happen in secession and I was right. I was damn there. I was damn there, right, Mattison number two, right.
Yeah, Madison, he's the running back. Yeah. Yeah.
So I was tweeting out what was going to happen. For some reason, by the floor of the game, I could just tell. I said, listen, he threw a past the T Higgins. I think it was in the fourth quarter. I said, man, you got to keep that ball in bounds and just give to your chance because the dB was too short T sixty five, six to four.
They came back. What's up? Whatever?
You and I talked about this all the time. Yes, sir, what don't you let a quarterback do? You don't let him roll out the pocket to it throw? Yeah, okay, he rolled out in the pocket and he hit T.
Higgins.
So what did he do in over time? What didn't let him do again? To the right road right and he hit board on the run. You serve exactly what you got because you know, you don't let a quarterback. You keep him away from his throwing hand. If it's a right handed quarterback, you force him left that's left handed quarterback. You're right, that's on the d n though.
That's then you got Yes what he can't get collapsed like that and allow him to get outside.
Yes, yes, that's what I'm saying. See you, sometimes you get so caught up and trying to make a play. But if I can't make a play doing my responsibility, because now when they cut the tape on, they gonna say, what you're gonna be looking at you. If you a defensive player like bro, you got contained.
You can't let it. You can't let him outside. You gotta keep him inside.
So now you let you let the guy escape to his dominant hand twice once he makes an outstanding place. Higgins makes an outstanding again.
Crazy in the.
Process of going down, he rolled his hand back and he gets the ball over the pip.
That's great, Listen, I do the I do the ratings for Madden. I need I'm gonna go in there and change t higgins awareness to ninety nine because his awareness after making that catch, he can't even see the gold line. No, this is the way that just to put the budgets to reach out knowing exactly where he is.
Man.
That was dope, man, I'm excited for my Bengam because I went out on the limb and said, you know it, damn we out, we out, and you say, no, We're not out the playoffs. Okay. Our quarterback, Joe Burrows hurt. Jake Browning is the first quarterback, first Bengam quarterback to when his first three of his first win three of his first since Boomer Side in nineteen eighty four. We going to the playoffs and I said, I said on, I said it on inside the NFL.
We're gonna over.
Oh, We're gonna leap over. They got damn you got damn stealers. Yeah, the god damn Brownson Stills and were gonna get that guy, damn wild Card. And I'm telling you we're gonna surprise somebody in that first round of playoffs. We got the Stealers left, we got the Chiefs and we got the Browns. Two two of those we're gonna win. I mean, I'm just let me just be fair. I'm gonna just say I'm gonna be fair. The Vision Games, I think we're gonna win Chiefs. I'm not sure what's gonna happen, but either way, if we win those two of those three. We're gonna we're get in a wild card.
Yeah, because seven to get you.
Oh yes, that'll gets you in there. That'll gets you there.
Trade Bronson, baby, Yeah, he made he was playing well. Uh they're three and one since Joe Burrows up of the season ended injury, a wrist injury. Browning had mentioned that he was motivated because the Vikings cut him in twenty twenty one and it said it bothered him and how they cut him because he said that they said they're gonna put him on the practice squad and go to the hotel, and he waited and he waited and waited, and if agent called him and said they're not putting their release and they're not putting you on no practice squad, he said they did it that way.
They handled it.
If you don't, okay, if you're gonna put me in a practice squad, put me in a pratice squad, o'kay cool with that.
Don't lie.
Don't have me just sitting there waiting in the hotel and y'all do something dirty cannib.
Andselfing like that.
That's a nasty business. And you the funny you ain't see the clip. You ain't see the clip with Browning screaming, you shouldn't have cut me.
You ain't.
Yeah, you gotta re you gotta read his lift. You shouldn't have cut me. Yeah, he said, you gotta look back. That's what I'm talking about.
And then he was hit with a drug test after the game, right after the game. I think that's something new, Ocho, because I remember when you no, not after the game. I got drug tested Monday morning. I got drug tested on Tuesday morning or Friday. And to keep saying it's random, but nobody got drug tested more in Denver than Shannon Sharks.
Random. And I'm getting drug tested every year more than everybody.
Else, everybody else, right, Yeah, that's funny. I think I got once once after a game, and I think it might have been the Chargers game. You played the Chargers. I forgot what year it was. All I know it was Chromarty's rookie year when he was with the Chargers. I had two sixty for three TV, the two sixty for for two drug test right after the game, drunking somebody right after. I'm like that, there's no way that's random.
I mean, what what what drugs? They think you take?
It?
I mean you need a high dose if you take it, if you take it on the road.
Now, I was taking g d M back then. G d Yeah, g d I'm I'm not you don't you laughing? I was taking g d M back then, and you don't know what g d M his No, what is it, Joe goddamn McDonald's.
What it should have taken your cholesterol and that one was through the roof, through the roof, but your cholesterol.
Yeah, but it was. It was funny. And then it's certain people. I think there's no listen, I'm every bit of.
Plumber. Yeah, it's I mean some of them.
Have you seen some of their bodies that they take it wrongoid they backfired or something?
Yeah, yeah, that's what ez.
Yeah. Congratulations to the Bengals. Jake Brown and played an unbelievable ball game.
He uh, the Minnesota had an opportunity to oho to put some separation earlier, remember mothers through two interceptions. Yeah, one on a one on like the two yard line and the other he threw another one he was going down hit and the d line.
Ma leed on his back back that he will never get an either interception.
Than it's like that, ain't nothing but the football guys right there.
Where you eat the Colts, Hammer, the Steelers, Gardner Minshew keeps their playoff hopes alive through for two hundred and fifteen yards, three scores, three different receivers. Andy Trail thirteen to nothing midway through the second quarter, but then could score thirty unanswered points. The Coats are now eight and six, have won five or six to move into the bottom of the AFC South into playoff contention.
They currently hold the number seven position in the AFC.
Hmm, which.
They say they want that that playoff. They want that last that wild card. The Coats, Minsh, Magic, Garner, Minshew.
Mad Child, please listen. I like Minshew, I like Minshew, I like I mean, he's nice, he's cool, he has a nice supporting cast. They did well today, but again they did play the Steelers. That's not gonna They did play the Steelers. They have no batter who out there. I mean, I know it don't matter who out there, but but look at the product the Steelers. I lost the last two, not last three. You know, there ain't no threat, which is why I said I said it three. I said it two three weeks ago. The Bengals are gonna come back. Yeah, a threat to who. They're gonna be a threat to the baby and the coast want to see us the coast don't have no I said.
I'm said, the Steelers gonna be a threat to you guys.
No they're not. No, they're not.
No, they're not not playing Steelers. Bad Steers need the overhaul. Oh Joe, it's.
Whoa slow down? Slow down. The Steelers are having one bad season. I don't know about no overhaul already. Their coach, God damn Tom. In the past seventeen years, he's been he's been above five hundred every single year, every single year.
That's not the standard. That's not the standard for the Steelers. The Steelers are by championships. We gotta stop rewarding Oh he above five hundred. That's not why they pay you eight nine million dollars to be one. They pay you for championships and to get the team in the playoffs. Make deep playoff run. When was the last time the Steelers made a deep playoff run?
Well, I mean that's a minute. Wait, wait a minute. This is a new team, this is the new regime. You got new players. It doesn't just happen like that. They don't just happen like that.
Now you have to build, you have to bill your we gotta hold we hope. What we do here on this podcast is we hold people accountable. Even the people that we like, We got to hold them accountable.
Okay, so you think it's time for overhaul for real? No, I'm saying, I mean you said the word overhaul, So I mean you mean players, players, But Mike, Mike got to do a better job.
We got a stop. Well he's oh, he's never had a losing season.
Well, it's been a long time that we thought the feeling the Steelers was gonna be a threat to win something too, other than the division, right right, right, right.
Now, I get it.
A lot of the you know, Ben got old, they held on the band being held on a lot longer than what he should have. And when you got when you got guys like that, and that's what the Steelers. The Steelers are known for, loyalty especially. They're really, really, really good players. If you go back and look at those seventies Steelers, they didn't get cut. They just got old, and they ain't got gitting got rid of them, and that's why they struggled. You know, late eighties until the night they had that one year in the nineties because Lambert and ham and and and Joe, Me and Joe and LC and Greenwood and Mail Blunt and all those guys got old at once. Well, if you got till the Hall of Famers to get old at once, O Joe, Yeah, you're gonna be bad, Shay, try to replace all that because the likelihood of you find a replacement players. But those guys aren't very good. But the Steelers, Ojo, they quarterback. Okay, let's stop. Let's let's stop right there. Go ahead, let's stop right there. I say, they don't need an overhaul. You know, I'm a Kenny Pickett fan. I am a huge fan of Kenny Pi. Okay, let me finish, let me finish, let me finish. Kenny Pickett is is a good a good quarterback. I don't think he hasn't matured to the point where Kenny Pickett is the answer to being a franchise quarterback and a quarterback that can get the Steelers back to prominent, winning consistently, meaning every time we have a season, we're gonna be in contention year and the year out. When you had Big Ben, you knew year and you're out.
You're gonna be in god damned contention to be playing in the playoffs and the chance at the Lombardi Trophy. I don't think Kenny Pickett is that guy just yet. Obviously it's on the year two, year two or year three. For Kenny two, it's only year two, so he you know, I say, give him another year and see where he is. And every team that all teams already that don't have a franchise quarterback, our quarterback away, our quarterback away from changing their franchise. That's that's all it come down to. That's all it come down to. When you finally find that franchise quarterback, all you have to do is bill around him. Because they had the weapons, he had the support and cast, you got the runner backs, you got the receiver Deontay Johnson, and god damn.
The attitude, attitude, the attitude fist for oo.
I mean, let's let's let's think about why they're upset. Understand why you just mentioned it. You said, you just set it out yourself, you just said yourself.
The quarterback.
Oho, we've all been in situation where the quarterback was left in ideal, right, right, right, But that's frustrating, that's frustrated. I'm sure you got upset to when your quarterback was lessening. Well, you got lucky, well ship, you had God damn John.
That way I did, I had, I had.
It was fortunate. Everybody wasn't as fortunate as you was when they played.
I played fourteen years. I had John for nine of those years, and also John miss half the season one year. But I understand. But oh yo, Hair's the thing for me. I always tried to put on a positive because I didn't want the younger guys to think that behavior was acceptable, right right, right, I always I came to work. I was a professional at all times.
Right. I came to work on time, I went to meeting on time. I practiced hard.
I did what I was supposed to because I wanted to show the younger guys this is what it takes to be successful. You want to have a long career, you want to win, this is what you need to do. Yeah, I got frustrated, O Joe.
Yes, I want the ball.
Yes, I believe I could help this team out of this funk if I were to get the ball. But I mean, I just want to know what was pouting and throwing helmets and throwing water coolers. What the hell was that going to help?
That mean? The ball?
Everybody wan gonna get you the ball, but being able to It's hard for receivers when you get frustrated, Sometimes your emotions get the best of you. You know, I'm trying to think, have I ever ever gotten like that on the sideline? I think maybe, yes, yeah, maybe once?
Maybe once.
I was one that didn't want to show up any of my teammates. I didn't want to show up exactly. So I was able to control it because I knew the camera was always on me, so I kind of kept it mellow, even though I was frustrated on the inside. And you can tell about my body language when things weren't going well or they were allowing another team to dictate where I can get the ball or not, And that shit really pissed me off. That shit really pissed me up. That grinded my goddamn testicles when it allowed another team to dictate whether I can get off or not. That bothered me. We did not gain plan and have meetings for hours and hours and hours of practice and watch hours and hours of film to come out here on a Sunday and tell them, well, if you play this defense, we can't get the ball eighty five. That don't sit right with me. That just don't sit right with me, because if that's the case, then I ain't need to God damn practice. You're gonna let them do me like that. That's just my mindset and the way I thought. You know, but I mean that's neither here nor there.
But I just like and and the thing is, like, I'm a big believer in that. Showing up the quarterback also, yeah, never that never, that was the relationship that I had with John.
I was never gonna show him up.
All I asked, look, give me an opportunity to protect myself because I'm gonna do I'm gonna do my best to come down with it or it's gonna be incomplete.
And I'm never I'm never. I'm never gonna give up on a plate. And so he did. He didn't like if he missed you you like.
Oh, matter of fact, yo, I did that once the Carson we were playing, we were playing the Steelers. He overshot the ball. He overshot it, or it was it was out of reason. I was wide open and I took my chest strap and I snapped that bitch soon as soon as the soon as the ball you know it was, it was out of reach. Man, I walked back, walked back to the huddle. That nigga Carson said, Man, if you ever, motherfucker do some ship like again, I won't throw your ass the ball the rest of the game.
You like it, you like you like, you like catching, he said, you won't get no more.
Listen, I ain't never seen Nash snap on me like that one time. I never forget we was playing the Stealers, and the fact that when we're playing the Steelers, the balls and opportunities I'm gonna get are already slimmed to none because they when I come out of the huddle, they are making the defensive play call based on where I line up, So I already know the two or three balls or foot balls.
I might get.
I got to make the most of them, the most of them. And when he missed that one, man, I snapped my motherfucker chin struck walking back to the huddle, and man, he came into my face mask and said, Man, if ever motherfucking showed me up like that again, you'll never catch a motherfucking ball again. I ain't I ain't even say nothing. Goddamn the primetime game. It was a prime time game. Yeah, I hope, I hope when we edit, I hope somebody could find that clip.
Somebody that's what Oh yeah reference Yeah, Johnny John didn't play that, and so I always made sure.
I'm like, hey, bro, don't do that. Don't do that. That is that is what we that is what we do.
Uh So yeah, I lost himself though that one time. I lost himself that one time.
But see that's that's that's.
The thing though, oho is that I didn't show him up. And when I dropped the past or I did something. Hey, we talk about that on the side. We talked about the sideline, or we talked about that in the meeting room. He's like, hey, I need you a little deeper on this one right here. I need your you know, So forth and song we had a conversation because I know he didn't like me to show him up, but he knows that you Hey, all that yelling and cursing, Yo, what about you talking to you like that?
That?
Well you were talking to me like badly. So list we had a we had a great relationship.
We had a great understanding of the things that how we talk, how we communicated with each other to get each other's point across.
So check this out, o JO. Kadarius Tony need to let it go.
Bro Andy Ree was fined one hundred thousand dollars for criticizing the officials. Patrick Mahomes was fining fifty thousand dollars. Now you do know, you know, I know they got those penalties because they are was really they was yelling at the officials, really talking to Cadarius Tony, so they got docked one hundred and fifty thousand dollars coming from him. This is what he told reporters. Whether it was an inch, two inches or whatever the whatever in front of the ball. The referee got a job to let me know, he doesn't.
He didn't.
He didn't make no effort. You watched the video. He didn't make no effort to say anything. No alignment, So apparently wanted he wanted to do that regardless. O JO football one oh one. It's the two a's alignment and assignment. You can't do a damn thing on the field if you don't know your alignment or your sign sign.
Yeah, yeah, that's your responsibility. Yeah.
Instead of saying you know what again, what did I tell you? I say, See, he ain't got no personal accountability.
I told you that.
See I've been telling you that for the longest time. He just told you instead of saying, you know what, I was wrong. I lined up off side. I've got to do a better job of making sure my alignment is correct because that falls on Kadarius Tony.
That falls on me.
But I was wrong and I let my team down. You see what he did. He put the blame on the official accountability is everything. Oh Joe, Sure it tells me he still hasn't learned his lesson.
Yeah, I think he learned his lesson. I think I guarantee you that I forget what he said, but I guarantee you when he comes back for the next following game. Wait, who they got? Who they got next? The Chiefs? The Chiefs got next? Oh, they got the Patriots. The chief got the Patriots. I guaranteed, I guaranteed on line of off side of this game. I guarantee you on line up off side the game after that, I guarantee get the guy damned playoffs. I bet it on line of off sides.
So, in other words, are they're gonna make any more bone headed plays?
No? I bet he don't. Let let's put, let's put, let's put some.
I bet.
I bet one hundred dollars. Okay, bet I bet one hundred dollars because there is Tony don make no more mistakes. Better hundred better, I bet run it at the back, and and I bet another hundred. He don't drop no balls.
I'm like, I'm like Chris Brown, run it all right, if he can run it, run run it.
Say less.
Oh Joe, I know what you mean. It was it was about to die down. That happened a week ago. So instead of look here, my grandma said, the reporters asked him. He just not savvy enough with the reporters to say they ignore. He just answered probably with no ill intent, just answering the question in general.
I can't.
Intent only matters to him. You know, the difference between murder and manslaughter is intent. One one you intentionally meant to kill him, the other you accidentally. But the victim is just as dead. So intent only matters to the defender, not the victim, because he's just as dead. So whatever his intents were, it did not matter, because that's what he said.
Hey, you used to watch Matt Locke. I was a criminal justice major, Okay, I was for the sakend. You sound like a goddamn lawyer.
Now you know whatever. Good.
I like that.
If that football thing that work out, that's what's going to be. Okay, Yah, Yeah, I like that.
Yeah, I like that.
I got it.
But that's the thing that oho, you know what He's like that at some point in time.
Remember you and I talked about it, how some people will blame everybody else, but what's going on in their life?
Oh?
Is that this with that one?
It was the police, and it was the government, and it was my girlfriend, it was my boyfriend, it was my mom.
They not helping me. Okay. So so where is your culpability in anything? You ain't so you ain't do nothing.
You know what the thing about it is is, I think that's not just a canarious Tony problem. That's a problem with society and absolutely never wanted to take accountability. Most of the time it's leading to the female the female species, you know, I think they have an issue with taking accountability. The fingers always pointing the opposite way and not actually seeing it at times. You know what, maybe I am the problem and the same thing with us what this fellas, But it's it's something that I think a lot of people, a lot of people struggle with and blaming others and not seeing them being the issue at any time.
Yeah, And for me, O Joe, I've never been I've never been one that was too proud to say I was wrong, to say I was too proud to say I was sorry, right, even as I was send it to the economic pyramid, Right, even as I become more more known. I'm not too big to say I'm sorry. I'm not too big to say I'm wrong, because if I was wrong, I was wrong wrong.
I have a question, Yes, as long as you've been alive, as long as you've been dating, just in general, in life, how many times have you ever heard a woman but one take accountability for actions or said sorry? Be honest with me, now, if you have to think about it a little bit, be honest me. How many times you had had a woman say I'm sorry when she's messed up or actually take accountability for actions for her as well?
That would be really hard to say, because I would that would have a.
Cute baby that's the thing. The fact that the fact that you can't even tell me right off the top of your head, that that gives it that that what does I tell you.
Oh Joe?
I am fifty five, I'm dated dated some women in my time. Sometimes and here's the thing, oh Joe, sometimes I didn't give a damn what they told me.
I was out. They could have said I was wrong, I'm sorry, my bad. Oh whoa whoa, whoa whoa whoa.
You don't get people, you don't believe in second chance? Yes, okay, okay, absolutely do okay, But oh Joe, but when you no longer want to be in a situation, it doesn't matter what they say, okay and just and just.
And it's been I've been.
In that bear situation where I've told someone I'm sorry and I apologize, but they say, Shannon is too late.
Okay, Yeah, it happens, Oh Joe. That's why that that's so hard.
I know, I'm gonna let you finish. But when I when I look at you, it's someone I look up to, not only football player, accolades and all that stuff, but obviously a father, a business man, entrepreneur. What you're doing with TV just I'm trying to sit here and even fathom a woman sitting here telling you, Oh, Shannon, I don't want to be with you. Know that don't even sound right to me? Honestly, no, I don't even sound right. Well, maybe maybe they didn't see the motherfucking light. I don't mean to know you, apologies, Maybe they ain't see the light and where you were going in the fucking vision to say I'm up and believing and leaving aunt, nigga, who the fuck leaving?
Un not the word propping the goddamn dyings when it was a god of damn that Oh don't wait, wait, don't sound but you don't. Oh Joe, you can't stand at the bed always. You got to come up out the bed.
You ain't.
Yeah right, got the bed. You know your boy about being the bed twenty five thirty five minutes. But you right, right, right right.
You got breakfast, you got lunch, You sill the couching, you talking wife. But I think the thing is everybody, no matter how good looking a woman is, somebody has said I don't want to be with you anymore. No matter how popular a man is, no matter how much money he's made, somebody has said.
You know, I want to move on.
And so when people say, oh, she only with him because he got this or he always looked. It's just as easy to love a rich man as it is a poor man. So what you think they're supposed to do? Well, I don't want that rich man. I want the poor man to show you that I really love him. Y'all sound foolish people. Do you understand how foolish you sound? Because the woman should go be with someone if somebody wants to be with her that's making ten million, fifty million, one hundred million a year to prove that she loves this man. Nah, I'm gonna go be with the person that makes one hundred thousand.
What come on?
Appreciate stop sounding dumb, right?
You sound dumb when you say that it's just as easy to fall in love with a rich man as it is a poor man.
Yes, sir, I have a questioning everything you just said. Is it safe to say regardless of who it is you date, whether it's rich or poor. Yeah, that everyone relationship or whatever they have going on, situationship, marriage? Do you think everything comes with the expiration date?
Possibly, and that it all depends because oh yo, it's so it's work every day.
Yeah it's not.
Yeah, today's podcast is not the same as Thursday podcast. And tonight's podcast won't be the same as as tomorrow, and tomorrow won't be the same as Monday, and to Monday won't be the same as Wednesday Thursday.
And so for the song.
So a lot of times when people think when they get married, people think the job is over. What I'm married now, No, you gotta This is what I tell guys when it wants to get to the NFL. I say, now, your journey is not into your journey, it's just starting. You dreamed of being here. Now the journey starts, so when you get married. I've never been married, but I also I've been in relationships, and I know a lot of mistakes that I've made is that I got into the relationship and I stopped working. I didn't work nearly as hard in the relationship as I did to get the individual.
And I'm not foolish enough for I'm not to know that. I know that.
Hold on, let me write that down. Let me make sure I don't wait a minute. Let me give my motherfuck a pen of paper, because I'm not gonna stop working. You got me fucked up. I think you gotta work.
You gotta work because the rail that you met it's different than the rail right now, and she's gonna be different tomorrow and so are you. Right, So there's a continuous there's a continuation that when you're in a relationship that you've got to continue to worry in order for it to grow. I mean, if you let me ask you a question, don't Joe when you buy, when you buy plans so you blo something, do you just ward it one time?
Or do you have to continuously warded or do you have to continuously tend to it?
We got to tend to it all the time. I mean, obviously, I see. Relationship is similar to the upkeep you know, if you have a rose garden, if you have plans you know. Yeah, I hate using that analogy, but you see where I'm going with it.
Yeah, But do we talk about upkeep and the maintenance and the things and.
To grow and in order for it to grow? And in the same thing, her and I have these talks all the time, and I always and I like to. I like to have the tough conversations. How are we gonna last? How Are we gonna defeat the odds? You know, relationships and marriages? You see what the statistics are, right, Yeah, how we're going to outdo that? What's beat they different? How are we gonna beat the odds? Us?
Oh? So?
How we are we going to evolve? Are we gonna grow apart? Are gonna grow together? Now we have the craziest conversations. You have to be taken before we take that motherfucking walk, no doubt, because when we want to take that walk down aust Oh baby, ain't no coming back.
You know, coming back?
I need I needed all that bullshit out the motherfucking way now ahead of time. What's what's it gonna be like to live with you? What's it gonna be like when you're mad? I need to see you in all your seasons. I need to see in all your seasons before I even walk down to as Yeah.
Well, the greatest trick is survival is adaptability. Oh yeah, And the greatest trick for to sustain anything is to being able to adapt. Because if your person you can't be so rigid in your thought process is that.
It's this way and when she's going through her things, you like, suck it up.
I mean, there are times that you gotta give tough love and to make sure that but you also got to be that supportive.
And I haven't always been that.
A lot of times I was more concerned about me come on that, Hey, I need you, I need you to support me, keep me propped up. When she needed me at her when she needed me at my best, and she needed me the most, I wasn't there, And O Joe, I'm I'm I'm I didn't know that at the time. It took me being out of that situation and a lot of time because I spent a lot of time alone. Is that now I sit back and I have the luxury of hindsight, the magnificent science of knowing today what I didn't know yesterday. So now I'm like, and you try not to, but when you've done something as long as I have, it's hard to break that. And so I've tried to be a better listener, a better communicator because, like I said, oh Joe, and I tell this story all the time. My therapist told me, she said, mister Sharp, you're speaking Mandarin, she's speaking Spanish, and one of you guys got to learn the others language. It's not gonna work because you're communicating and you don't know what you don't know what the other is saying. Her her form of communication is affirmation. Tell us she looks good, tell us she's fine, I said, but I tell her that. But she wants me, she wants me to be like a pep rally like you were right right right. I mean from the time she get up like boom shots like oh you look good, Oh yes, unbelievable.
Wow, you know what? Now? Did you say that.
Women that say words of affirmation are their love language for that? But the fact that I think when women here, you look good, you this, you that from the same person over and over and over and over and over, it doesn't hit the same as here from someone it doesn't hit the same no matter no matter what you say. It's crazy. But back on on on the topic on the basis that we were talking about, I think listening and compromising and communicating probably three of the most important things, definitely especially.
But let me ask you a question, are you listening to respond or are you're listening to understand.
When it's not When it comes a woman, are you listening to understand? Because we think differently, We oh yeah, definitely, you know. Yeah, so I try to put myself in her shoes when she's talking to get a better understanding on where she's coming from.
A lot of times women base their facts on feelings. I feel this way, so it's got to be true. Facts are I mean, feelings are facts, facts on feelings?
Right, yeah, And what.
I've had to learn, and I've had to do you want this to work? Or do you want to be right?
What? What?
What is it that you want on you? So you want it to work?
Or do you want to be right? Because for the longest time I wanted to be right. I've always been this, this debater. I've always been this this guy that Okay, well, let me tell you this is what it is. Okay, but and and the process of me.
Being right.
Is not helping us us. Yeah yeah, now, because you got to look at it. It's us, not a high, not a meat, it's a us. It's a wei and so now but in that moment, I'm thinking about me, you're wrong, you on your own, you on the island, you on you wrong, And let me tell you boom boom boom. I just laid I saw elaborately. I'm feeling good inside.
I told her, I'm not looking at your feet. He feeling he did be right.
But in the process, what I've done is I chipped the way at the foundation of us and I. She's like, now, I see it ain't no us. It's a you versus me, me, and so I've had and slowly but surely I've tried to get out of that mindset of a it's a wei and not a me, not to chip at the foundation, the fabric that can hold us together. So it's a trial and error. I'm not perfect. I'm never gonna be perfect. I've never professed to be perfect. I made some mistake, gonna make some more.
Yeah, see that's the part. That's that's the thing about it. I don't want to make them own mistakes. I've done the trial in already. I've done the trial and now forgot damn twenty twenty twenty five years. So I've been through it enough. I've touched the stove enough to know the motherfucking stove is hot. Stove is hot. It's gonna burn you when you do certain things. So I should be out of that stage by now.
Yeah.
My grandma had My grandma had a saying. My granddaddy had a saying. He used to tell my grandma all the time. God damn it, Bessie Flowers, you as do you want to be motherfucker happy or you want to be right? Pick one because you can't get both.
Of them back.
No, pick one because you can't get both of them. You want to be happy, you want to be right. I tell real all the time, every time, every blue moon. We might get into it. Listen, I'm not gonna say it. Act like we don't have no mother fucking problems. Right, Well, we are goer, We don't argue, we are gour, I said, baby. Listen, man, you want to be happy, you want to be right. Let me know what you want to be because you can't be both. And if you think you'd be both, you're living in a fairy tale.
Bady Chad called me unc Winfrey. Y'all say, don't be bad, y'all, y'all be killing me bad.
But you're right, but but but but but it's right. Yeah, I mean, And that's the thing. You want to be right.
You want to be right, and you want somebody to be happy and some and sometimes it's better, you know what? O Joe Sometimes it's better to be wrong and keep the peace. Sometimes I lose. Sometimes I lose on purpose. Oh cause you o, Joe, you know how you playing. I know you don't have pets, but sometimes I'm be playing tugle war with my dog and I let it win.
And he'll get it. He'll go praying stuff.
He's like, yeah, yeah, you couldn't take it from you.
Yeah, sometimes I let him win. Oh yeah, I got him on this one. No you didn't. But I'm okay. You don't need to know that.
You know, it's funny though, you know it's funny that that's a little bit antagonizing too, because sometimes real want to argue and I and and she'll say something. She'll say something and be ready, ready for me to bounce back, and you let it have the rebubl. Guy, I'm like, you know what, baby, you right right?
Yeah, you can't get on. You can't get on.
Joke boy, that makes it even that make a matter, That make it even more matter. But that's all, that's all. That's all you're gonna say. You got them to say back.
But see when you young, oh Joe, as you start to get older, See when I was young and I ain't taking my twenty milligrams and don't fuck with me.
Yeah, I woke up with him. I woke up with Hill on my mind.
Are you ready?
Yeah, I woke up with him in my mind. Yeah.
Look it looking for Listen, when you're young, you like the argument. When you're young, you love the arguer. But you look at you look at Twitter every day any topic it is anything going up with any labs, or they break up or something happened, and or anything going in the world. Well god damn, oh, everybody ready they end up. They be going fighting back and forth. Y'all don't even know these people. Yeah, people that don't even know you.
Oo.
Would I say if I can't bring if I can't bring my dog, I'm not going.
It ain't puppy, ain't buy. Yeah.
And you saw I retweeated earlier. You saw that bigger that's great Dane in the kitchen.
I ain't see it.
Boy, the lady in that cooking the dog. The dog looks bigger than a goddamn kitchen, like a goddamn horse.
Yeah, they get big, they get they get seven seven and a half feet.
Great Dane Irish wool found get like that Irish will found.
Yeah, the Irish wolf found is bigger.
It's bigger than a Great Dane as far as far as far as likewise, as far but as far as weight, you're talking about the English master.
They can get up to three hundred pounds.
But it ain't healthy no, no, healthy man.
No no no. But like like like my dog. I mean, my dog weighs like one seventy. But he athletic. He I mean, he's an athletic athlete.
He moved with it.
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah, and he good. I mean he hear the doorbell ring, he gonna get on his place. He get on his place. He ready, And he's just sitting there. He just sitting there and watched. Now he looks now he ain't gonna stay on that spot longer when the cleaning people come.
Blanca and Vicky. You gotta he loved Vicky. Yeah, he loves Vicky.
That's the only time that I have to like really correct him because it's like that's his best friend. He'd be all in the room, she all on the floor with him, rubbing it back, both feet up in the air. Yeah, bab, He's just like yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, Hold daddy, I'll miss it to you in a minute.
Let her get five more minutes with me. Let's get back on topic.
Richard Sherman fire fires back at criticism for supporting both forty nine of the Seahawks. Sir Sherman said, I will support the teams I played for. You need to remember we brought the city of that championship, not vice versa. So I will support both forty nine of the Seahawks, acting like you gave me something, like I owe you something. You need to appreciate the team that brought you and stay in your lane. I get that, old Joe, cause you don't look. I played with the Broncos for twelve years. Team went to Baltimore for two, won a championship, went back to Denver for two. So of my fourteen years, I played for two teams twelve one team two with the other one championships. So if I cheered for the Ravens, man, what about your lord did to the Broncos. I cheered for the Broncos. Well, you did know you played for the Ravens.
And now you know Travis kelp my nephew, Travis Kelcey Man, how you do that?
Bro?
Damn? I can't. I can't like nobody else but Bronco and Ravens.
Right right, right right, he listen, My allegiance will always be obviously, we know my allegiance is to the Bengals. I had a short stint with the with the Patriots in twenty eleven, whatever year that was, but I mean that last team that was. Yeah, I don't even know what year it was. Man, you know, I don't care now about the football once once I stopped playing. But my legions is going too the Bengals, and obviously after the Bengals, it's the Dolphins. Obviously. I'm born from Miami, born and raised Liberty City, Day County for all y'all in the chat, and it will always be that way. Oh and it always has been before before I was drafted the Bengals, I was a Dolphins fan. I was a little kid, a little short of going to the games and the goddamn Orange Bowl watching Mark Mark, Mark Kloper and Mark Clayton. She got damn Damn Marino. Yeah, the Marks brothers, man man back in the days and sit when I got drafted, obviously, you know that's that's where my Bengal BEANNGA Bengled them comes from Yeah, and that's how it would be, no matter what anybody says. You know, I never had nobody every gave me any grapes about it because obviously common sense they understood I was from Miami and I played.
But it's different because I spent twelve years. I spent twelve years of one and only two with the other. And I have, like I said, Ozzy, I still talk to Ozzy. I still talked to a couple of people at the Ravens. Kevin Byrne, who's no longer a chance, still took Kevin Byrne's place, but I still talked to keV. I talked to Chad. Chad wasn't even wasn't with the team when I was there. I talked to a few people. But I just know, I mean twelve when you spend twelve years, and you know, you know, Chips still there. And I don't know any of the athletics, the trainers now, but if the the uh you know, the equipment guy, I still know them. The videographers, you know, I still know them. But all the coaches done turned over. OJO is under new ownership, and it's a little it's a little different. Honestly, it is a little different now because a lot of the people that was there with mister Bowling and some of the guys that hucked with, you know, when Mike's staff got left and then cool came in and there's some turn you know, going back.
But it's different now. It is.
It is. Uh.
I'm not gonna say they treat me different when I go back. They still get they still treat me great. The fans are still great to me. I haven't been back to a Ravens game, but for the most part, the Ravens fans they I haven't because I've been working. I work and see and people like, well, why you don't go to the games? I said, because it's hard for me to watch all the other games when I'm at a game.
Okay, I see what you mean, because now I've got to talk.
I've got to talk about the Cowboys, I've got to talk about the Eagles, I've got to talk about Kansas City, I've got to talk about this one. And it gets extremely hard when you're just watching that game. So a lot of times I find myself I would be up in the swites and I'm not enjoying the game at the field I'm watching. They got the Cowboys on this one, and they got other team on that one. And I'm doing my job because I know come Monday, I'm gonna have to talk about it. And so that's why, you know, I got.
A question, with your extreme knowledge for the game, what you think about doing play by play like Tony Romo.
No, that never, because here's the thing, Oh Joe, you can't be as honest as you need to be because if you are, they won't do a production meeting with you.
Serious.
Nope, I see you're going with it. I see where you're going. Okay, okay, And so yeah, so I got to play the game a bit.
Yeah you do.
You gotta play the game, and I don't. I don't want to study tape that much anymore like I once did. And kudos to all the guys. I think Greg Osen does the phenomenal job. I haven't heard one word. I haven't heard Tony Romo, I haven't heard any of the guys.
Now.
I couldn't tell you what they say or how they say it, because for me, o Jo, I need to be able to speak from a place. This is my genuine thought. I'm not corrupted by what I heard somebody else say. Somebody else might have said it. Maybe great minds think alike. But this is my interpretation of what I saw. This is my interpretation for what I what, what transpired, and it might be you know, you might not agree with it, you might agree with it. But now I really never wanted to be played by play because I but I've always wanted to talk about more than football. I want to talk about basketball. I want to talk about track and field. I want to be able to talk about a George Floyd. I want to be able to talk about a Colin Kaepernick and need kneeling. I want to be talking talk about some of these societal issues. And when you play by play, you're kind of boxed in. And for me, with my knowledge, it doesn't it doesn't need to be hardest.
In that capacity.
Okay, I see what you mean.
I like it.
Aaron Rodgers likely to be medically cleared to play in this upcoming week. No Rogers may be medically cleared next week to return playing in games. According to multiple reports, the Jets travel to the Dolphins this week and then host Commanders on Christmas Eve, which would be Rogers Rogers targeted return date. The New York Jets are currently five and eight set third place in the ALC East. It has a less than one percent chance of making the postseason. What do you think about that?
What's the point?
What are we proving?
You were able to come back from an injury and he'll extremely extremely fast the comeback being five and eight though you're sitting third and infc we say they sitting third, right, third? Yeah, I know, I mean, why why why even chance it?
Though?
Like? Why what do you have to prove? We know what you can do? Heal up, rest up, get ready for next year. Let Zach Wilson continue to run the show.
His whole thing is about I want to show medical professions that I know more, I know better than them.
That's why. Why why take a chance? We talked about Marvin Harrison, You got damn junior standing another year? Why take the chance and rich the injury? Why set yourself back further and re injury your achilles? There there are three there are three places.
On the body.
You don't play with. You don't play with your knee, you don't play with your groin, you don't play with your achilles. Let me, I'm at the hamstringing there two.
Well, quarter your quarterback, your elbow and your shoulder. If you're a quarterback, you throw that too.
But man, listen, those are injuries you don't want to play with. Man allow it to heal. I don't care what technology said. I don't care what science said that that they talk about. I don't care how good you feel walking and going up and down when the when the bullets are flying in the middle of a game, it's a it's a different ball game, it's a different beasts don't come back. That don't come back.
There's a difference between there's a difference between game and practice because practices are what scripted.
The game isn't scripted.
Oh no, so you can you can call players, you can script practice where they don't get pressure around and you don't have to do anything suddenly suddenly, now, all of a sudden, you get into the game.
Ain't no scripts.
Now you got to move faster, you gotta read, you gotta react, and we listen. Is that area ready for that type of that type of tension, and the suddenness has respect a being of the suddenness. I think you took the're looking for the god damn word. You brought it right up.
Man.
Don't don't do that. Don't throw do that to your body.
Man.
Rest wait for next year training camp. Have the whole nine yards boom. You'll be fine. You get out there, you're gonna hurt yourself.
The Rattlers are the national champions famly how with thirty to twenty six to claim the program's first celebration Broke Bowl and its first and Black college football National championship. The Ratlers scored three fourth quarter touchdowns to overtake the Bison and win thirty to twenty six.

Yeah, the greatest, not just any ALBA mater, the greatest album mater, the highest of the seven Hills. Were you in the school that again, Savannah State, y'all in Savannah State. Don't want to see that. Don't want to see fam you y'all want, and nothing y'all want on the field, on the basketball court, tennis court. The band. I ain't even gonna mention the band. Y'all don't want none of that.
Hey, you saw what that went back to the battle state for first dake.
But yeah, what nice when you came out. But that thing was live.
That's what we do to you.
Hey, But there's only.
Listen.
But there's only one though, there's only one.
State that's the greatest, the greatest college by the sea, the College bro.
The highest of the Seven Hills. Because we're gonna strike. We're gonna strike, and we're gonna strike again.
Oh Joe, I've read surveyed.
It said the four most important pillars in a relationship religion, money in law, parenting, and money. If you had to rank them, how would you rank them? Religion, in law's.
Parenting, and money.
I'm going money first. I agree, I'm going I'm going I'm going money first. I don't care what nobody's saying. Don't don't get on here preaching that that old righteous bullshit. Money come first, money first. I think in order for people to be compatible, I'm not sure two religions can be together. Maybe you can, depending on how much you love each other. I think we got to go to church. Church never in my life, okay, okay with yah. I mean, some people are very serious when it comes to their religious beliefs, and they want that. They want their partner to think and feel and have that same vision as they do when it comes to their religious beliefs. So I think I would put religion second. Third that would be parenting. What was number four? Was number four?
In laws? Yeah?
Third, third would be parenting in laws who cares about what the fuck they think?
Yeah? Keep them up, oh my bad, keep them out your business? And who kill they always.
Dispe no disrespect.
Nah.
I hate people that allow their in law as a family to dictate whether they should be with somebody if that individual makes you happy, I don't care what nand family member think about me. Man, fuck y'all, y' all. They got to deal with them. That's me. I got to deal with that. But parenting, parenting is very important, very very important. Hell ship As a parent myself, I'm still a goddamn a working, a work in progress.
Yeah, as I would for me O Joe, I would probably say money parenting. And it all depends on the type of religion, because some religion are more strenuent than others, and you see a lot of people not wanting to mix to mix those. So I guess it all depends on how devout you are in your faith, because I think the more devout you are in your faith, the less malletable, bending or flexible you're gonna be when it comes to religion. So for me, I mean long, you ain't you know, you ain't not there cutting up, no goats and no no Satanic stuff.
I think we pretty cool. If you want to go to church, have at it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you know. Yeah.
I like church too. I like church. Obviously. I went. I went to new birth. I went to new birth at the church Victor Bishop Victor T. Curry, Atlanta. No remad me. Man's about the rich about the only new birth, the new birth in Miami, Florida, Victim Pastor Victor T. Curry, the real new No disrespect, no disrespect to the church, no, no disrespect. But you know I heard Miami man and I don't. I don't go to churches as often as I used to. I don't go as often as I used to. I think I'm gone enough. Obviously growing up, you know, Grandma had me in church. Grandma went to Grandma went to church in the over Town Repend Clark was her pastor.
That was my first pastor, Missionary Baptist.
Listen my Olive Baptist church Repend Clark and over there and over Town. And I kind of not graduated, but I kind of veered off over to New Birth Baptist Church that was at Miami north Western at the time they were they were having service at Miami north Western. I would walk all the way from my house on forty fourth Street all the way down Sepith Avenue just to go to go to church there, and always been there for years. But I don't go as often as I need to. And the fact that you just brought it up about.
Religion, but see what has happened is that, see the church is taking on a different meaning. The church is here. See what people have gotten confused is that the building right right, that's not what the church is. Right.
There are people that go to church and will say or do anything. There are people that go to church. See, people have hidden behind religion for thousands and thousands of years, and they'll use that book.
There.
There are places in the in the Bible that you can find that will support anything that you do.
Come on now, it ain't even Sunday, but go ahead and preach.
And people are used that now in the Bible and Leviticus it says you're not supposed to sleep with a woman on a cycle. How many women have giving up on this cycle? And how many men will take it? Y'all gonna stop playing. I ain't going there. I ain't gonna yo, I ain't gonna do that. I don't want people. I don't want people to know.
What I know.
But don't you don't you stop?
Now?
Don't you stop? Now we're really get the faint question question.
Come on, come on, pretian, come on, come on, Oh.
Joe, oh Joe. That my brother, my brother will tell you this.
When I was about probably about eleven or twelve, Yes, the pastor told my grandmother.
He told her that I was going to be a minister. Yes, I I don't know what happened to Melo Choe. Well I still look, I don't want people to think that, but I do.
I have a Bible, I read the daily bread, I pray often, I have an understanding. I don't hit people over the head with what I know when it comes to biblical you, you, you live your life. I can't get you into heaven. The only person I can get into heaven is Shannon. I can't say but one soul. That's so, how can I save you and lose my own? So let me save mine. I can assist or tell you what I think you should do, But at the end of the day, that's your call. But anyway, ain't going there with your no, no, I ain't gonna do it aking on your uncultured j unking. Oyo, what are some unspoken rules amongst players that don't get talked about?
Unspoken rules?
Shit, ain't no unspoken rule. You don't you don't mess with nobody's money. You don't be talking about nobody's wife. You don't mess me up by the kids.
And is it?
I mean, I don't know if it's spoken, but see ojo. When we were when we were in the locker room, we didn't talk about religion.
No, didn't talk about about that ship in the locker room.
We didn't talk about politics, We didn't talk about orientation of saying.
We didn't say we did talk about that stuff.
Hell nah, all I want to know?
Can you can you?
Can you catch the ball? Can you tack the quarterback? Can you run the ball? That's all I care about.
I don't care what you do.
You would leap with one hundred men for all I can. I've tried to win. Hey have a matter of fact, can your boyfriend can't he catch?
Can't he? Everybody out here right got.
To do with me, right, Yeah, but there are no unwritten rules. There are no unwritten rules. You just obviously the three. The three that nobody needs to say is obviously you don't talk about nobody wife, You don't try to holler at nobody wife, and you don't talk about nobody. Goddamn kids, No, no ship. That's pretty much it just the common common comments. You know, that was you know out hold on I was. I think it was Otle Gills. The podcasts they were talking about.
About how the situation like okay, your wife is off limit and then you get the you know, you get you know, you get your girl.
I don't know you put you get one your wife is on the shelf.
Everybody else, everybody, everybody reachable could be checked that that was a good episode.
Hey, remember said.
If you got a wife and you got a bad five chick, and you think you're gonna be able to save both of them, know, you know, save that girl, your wife.
I ain't trying to.
I ain't even looking at her, but oh, you best believe I'm throwing I'm throwing her there out there trying to relay.
In Hey, it was so funny the conversation he was having right there there. Somebody said, Oh, I see so and so on the stands tonight. Okay, which one of y'all got so and so here at this game? Hey, man, I was funny. Listen. But in basketball players they got but they moved different. Boy, they do, but they moved, they moved different.
Boy. I can't.
And you even tell if you when you.
Talk to him, if you tell me you used to, if they told me they talked to Oh you know, I used to talk to somebody. I took my tailor run. I ain't got that kind of bread. I can't fight him. I can't fight I can't. I can't fight what he can.
Do for you?
Nah, I can you know back in the day, you know, your boy used to be ready to tussle drop. But I ain't got old now o you that't that ain't in me no more. But oh they're like, oh yeah, you get you get your you get your you get your wife. But no, no, no, no, no, no, no no, you don't. Oh no, hell no, you get to put one on the shelf and she can't be touched. Now if it could be your wife, it can be your girl. But you don't get too. Oh hey, no, sir, I don't know what. I don't know where they do that at.
Listen for them boys, vicious boy.
They they want to.
But I know if I them boys play a different ball game, don't play.
Yeah, that's why I can't be put. They got that they see, they got that kind of money. If you want to keep up with them, you don't need tracks. You you need a checkbook. And I ain't got that kind of check book. Oh yeah, so nah nah, But I would talk to Gil about that.
When you come back on the way. I was like, I heard y'all talking. Y'all.
Do you can't say no? You get to save one? Now you got to you got a choice two people drowning. You can only say one you can nah, you can't. You can't swim back to show with two driving people. Now, which one you want to put up there to make sure she's safe?
Right?
The other one? We coming? Yeah? We coming?
I'm a rip tie hey how although you bet that rip current, that real current. Yeah, that powerful even some of the strongest women. You see what you can't you got you gotta let just go with it. Those wom against it, because all it's gonna do is tie you out and drown you go with it. It's all that a little bit.
And then you know what the funny thing is, you know it makes it makes it even worse, is there's so many, so many fine, I'm talking about the finest of the finest women, right. How many athletes is it that really got it?
Think about it.
It's only a select few. It's only a smart it's only a handful of them. But there's so many women, and all the women want to select few athletes, so guess what they select.
Few athletes want the women, and.
They want the women they picked. They they pick who. It don't matter.
It's a it's a certain type of a woman that an athlete Philly has to have.
Yeah, and normally they got that hair, whether it's the halle bear crop, whether it's long and wavy, they bought, they mixed.
You know, I don't know what it is.
My grandma used to say, my grandma without a little boy, she said, boy, you color struck. Well she meant by that, but the red ball.
Yeah.
See, do you know what that's I had, I had a I had a different, different mentality when it came to that. When it came to the woman, my whole thing was your DNA. Are you athletic?
Yeah?
I need to listen. I need to see. Let me what you do in high school? Did you cheer? Did you play volleyball? Did you play basketball? Did you play softball? Are you athletic? First dates, I'm going on dates where I need to be able to see if you can move? Do you got two left feet? Can you ask make a motherfucking layup, because I'm gonna need your DNA at one point at one at some point your DNA because if you ask, what's the most important foundation when it comes to playing sports your footwork? Yeah, and everything you do your footwork. So if I'm on a date with you, where you just also happen to get pregnant. Now I got to deal with you and my child.
You happen to get pregnant. What the hell you may know? Oh so happy?
Yeah, I'm just saying, that's that's why I only dated people that were athletic. I don't care.
I don't care.
I don't care. I don't get about how you look because I look good enough for two. I don't care how you look all athletic period. That's it.
That's that's a good you got, you got.
You got these dudes going to get these pretty women, they so fine. And then you have a kid, and you wonder why your kid getting picked last and Pe because you got there and picked somebody she can't even make a mother fucking layup, but got no athleticism. She got you left feet the.
Kid getting picked last at PE, but she getting getting for getting picked first, and for the date. I'd be let me out.
I'll take her.
That's how you can have You can have that.
It's too late now, but I can. It's too late. Bad. I saw that. I saw up that light skid and that long way in here.
Yeah, you like you like that?
You like that?
Look Listen, man, listen, I wouldn't. I ain't trying to church. I want I won't trying to have no models.
I want to have the women be in church with when when the Holy goes out, put the head up.
Yeah that was that was, that was your thing. Now back in the day, back in the day, I was young. Oh young, Yes, you know your boy who your boy was, man O Choe. Yeah, my twentieth early twenties, mid twenties. Well what I could pee in the swinging boot from twenty five feet away? I just say what I used to be. I ain't what I used to be.
Ocho people, Hey, hold on, hold on, you ain't finna get anyway with that one. You say you could pee in a swinging boot from twenty five feet away. Yeah, you go up there, you said you said, you said a swinging boot, so and then you still.
It five feet Yeah, I walk. I don't know what happened to you. You know, now you gotta bring the boot a little closer. Now, you got to bring it a little closer. Ya.
But I know, yeah, I know, it can't move. It's still swinging or it's still yeah yeah.
I can still reach it, But I mean the boot a little closer. Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, I ain't nothing wrong with the plumbing. Now, ain't not wrong with the plumbing. You know, the pipe still work. You had to get you know what I'm saying, come here to go. I had to get some dray to get the get the pipes unclogged.
Right. I like that.
I like that. I like that. Boy, that's a good one. That boy what I rolled?
Reliable faith? How old Joe and Shannon? Can you remember time when coach the coaching staff gave you bad instruction and you did you did what believed it was right. How did you move forward after that? Were you able to maintain the working relationship and respect?
Yeah?
Yeah, yes, but but I remember a player like my rookie season. I didn't know the route and the player gave me the wrong route. I ran the route.
It was wrong. Coach red trued my ass out. But yes, I've had a coach but I was I should have known.
It's on me. See, I can't what I'm supposed to go. So now I'm supposed to go tell the old c I'm supposed to sell the head coach.
This is what he told me. I bite the bullet. I don't tell him nobody, but I own that. That's me.
I should have known. I should have known. And if he told me something that I didn't, that I that I knew. I'm gonna do it my way. I'm all, I'm allay, always gonna take the responsibility. I remember one time we were in Minnesota and I was supposed to be on the line of scrimmage and the Dwayne Carswell was supposed to be off the line of scrimmage. But I switched with him. He said, nah, he says, shop nah man. I said, don't worry about it. I said, I'll bite the bullet. So they got to the they got to so we got to the sideline. Cool never asked what the what the going on out there?
Who the fuck?
I said, I did it. I did it. I switched.
Now what I mean, what y'all gonna bitch me? I'm about I bite the bullet. I'm wrong, I'm wrong. I'm mad enough to say that. But yes, I've been told in situations I've told the wrong thing. But that's on me because I should have known. I should have.
Known my playbook better. But you think like a man.
But it's all good, it's all good. I kept a great relationship because at the end of the day, we're all human. We're all human.
But I think about it, I've never had any situations like that where coaches are telling me to do one thing and I did another. I think one of the things that that happened with me is is the way it's written on paper or the way we went over in beatings. Yeah, and its exiting knows and that when my coaches failed to realize. I say more so my my offensive coordinator at times, Bob Rokowski. I'll never forget Bob. We would disagree on things on way certain things should be run because obviously on paper there's nobody moving. There's nobody moving, and it's an excellence. Oh and you want me to get from point A to point B and a certain amount of time within the timeframe of the offense, so I don't mess up the timing of the offense. But Bob, I can't run it that way. I have to run it this way because the guy in front of me, he's not gonna be sitting still like it is on that goddamn papers. Yeah, he's gonna be trying to put hands on me. So listen, I'm not gonna all get a fact with you. But when I get in the game, game time situation, just know I'm gonna be open. I'm gonna improvide this a little bit, but I'm gonna stay within the time and of the offense and make sure I'm where I'm supposed to be when it's time for that ball to be thrown. That's one of the few things I can remember and recall because he would always harp on and doing it the way it's written and the way he's tort it. But at a certain time, depending on the person across from me, me understand who I'm playing against, there's some things I need to do and improvise a little bit, but stay within the time and of the offense.
Well, I've been very, very fortunate because my position coach cool BP whoever, and Mike, Mike's like, look, we drawed him like this, But I just get open. However, you get open as long as as long as when selling back foot hit I like that, and you're coming open and he's ready to throw because all that look, all that stuff, and you drawed it up on tape and on the backboard, and you got to scribbling here to do that. Okay, I get that that sounds good. Yeah, but come Sunday them Mofo's coming. Yeah, get open and he trying to grab it, and he talk again, No, I'm gonna be open, right, And John and I have already talked about it. Hey, twelve or fourteen? He say, run it twelve the fourteen in practice. I know you're gonna cut it down to twenty ten to twelve in the game because everything's happening quicker. Just hey, let's just time it up. Let's see how I go, and we might Hey by the end of the week, he say, run it a ten to twelve, and come game time it's eight to ten. Yeah, because because at the end of the day, what the coaches say don't matter. They might tell me something. We'll run it like this, John say, run it like that. Who got the ball? I'm listening to the more forward that got the ball? What y'all talking about with a head fairy? That'll don't do nothing for me at all. I'm like, I ignore, I block out all things. That's doesn't have seven, if it ain't, if you ain't got nor Jersey home, right, I ain't listening to you.
Come gamey, I'm not I'm not that's just the way it is.
Key asked, with the NFL changing their policy on Jersey numbers, would y'all wear single digit number or stick to eighty four and eighty five.
I'm worried number two for real, I'm worried. I warn number two in college.
Okay, okay, okay, college thing number two. I'm still I'm sticking eighty five in car I just had eighty. I wanted eighty when I got when I got to the Bengals. But Peter Ward, the Great Peter Ward, the greatest collegiate receiver of all time, had eighty. So I would stick with eighty five. That eighty five is symbolic. Man. You know, the single digit numbers are cool.
It's something about a single digit number. Now, you got to be that boy, dog to where that got to be you? You got to be that boy. It held more weight to me in college. Uh, in high school? Literally, yes, I was single did it in the high school? I was number three in high school?
Yeah?
But in the NFL, it just it don't hit the same to me.
It don't.
It don't hit the same single digit numbers though.
It don't because you're not used to seeing it. You're not used to see it.
You're not used to see a skilled players live back of DB's and anything like that with a single digit number. But I think over time, guess what O yo, ten years, fifteen years from now, when you see more of it, you're go like, damn, how long they have single digit number?
Because I remember when Kenny Burrow for the what double zero right back.
In the eighties Korea? Yeah it brow nobody. They need to bring that that zero back? Actually a zero maybe not double zero.
I think I think you could have zero.
See what would happen if they whatever you got drafted as like i'mar Rashad he wore twenty eight as a receiver, but he was drafted as a running back. Brad van Pelt he was a linebacker. He wore number ten, but he came in the league as a quarterback, so he got to keep the number right. So so there was some oddities. But I mean, you know, back then, you see running backs with seventy seven, you know, the old time, you go back to the real old foota joe, joe, they got seventy seven, they got fifty right, running back with seventy seven.
Seventy seven?
Yeah, oh yeah, I think Marylyn Marrion Motley was seventy seven. That got to be marry montey seventy seven. That got to be way back in the day, like in the fifties and sixties. Martley was in the sixties. Yeah, Mary Motley was in the sixties, right, a fifties.
That's crazy. But he was seventy seven at running back.
Huh. He was seventy seven in the high school too, so he just kept that number.

Yeah, they was bad. They was bad with Justin Herbert. I mean to the fact, even when Justin Herbert was there, they were still talk about firing goddamn mister Stately Brandon Stally Brandon. Yeah, but still talk about fire mister Stadie. But shit, but Justin Herbert is he's a good quarterback?
Yeah?
Veryoy, that's you know what I'm so glad to do. Asked that where would you rank Justin Herbert? Do you put him in your top tier based on big quarterback, big arm.
What were you?
I think I think like Mahomes Burrow, oh lamar Josh Allen, Josh Allen with the play he played this year, Dak Yeah, uh.
Who else? By name? I'm George Jordana Blank uh yeah, Herbert Party. I like, oh you know what. C. J. Stroud.
Oh yeah, it's basically not funny. The funny thing is shrouds a rookie, and he rookie. He's in company already.
Like that.
I like. I like Trevor Lawrence.
Oh yeah, I forgot about about t y tr Yeah. Yeah, that's that's crazy. That's crazy. But Trevor Lawrence has changed.
Marylyn Marion Motley wore thirty six excuse me, Ward seventy six, not seventy seven.
Seventy six.
Millennium are as funking your big fan of both of you for your lovely show. Have a question, what's the biggest thing you and your kids mother have disagreed on when it comes to parody.
But that's a good one, listen, that's a good old money Yeah.
How much?
Okay, okay?
I was, I was, I was.
I was a little fortunate. I was a little fortunate. I was a little fortunate where where those that those that I have kids from, I have kids from those that come from where I'm from. Does that make sense? You understand where I'm where I'm coming from. I didn't leave. I didn't leave my front portion and get money and go and try to impregnate those that wouldn't deal with me if I didn't have money, right, I'm going. So when it came to the situation of being able to take care of my kids and what they needed, it was it was just for just that, not a means of image and living a certain lifestyle, you get, I'm going.
So I was.
I was fortunate in that situation, right. And one of the reasons why when I do talk, you always hear me mention them in the job that they've done, because life could be hell, especially with the way I did things where I didn't do it the traditional way. Oh they took they could have took me to the goddamn clean us if they wanted. But I had people with the right state of mind and had obviously that the goal at the end of the day is for the child.
But yeah, I think I think schooling, I mean, I mean, what what what kid need? Being a fifteen you know, ten fifteen thousand dollars year kindergarten. What ain't no such Yeah the hell you said, ain't no such things? So we we Yeah, so we argued about stuff like that because I thought I didn't think. I didn't think a kid that was in that kind of was getting that much better of an education. Hell, they ain't doing up a finger painting than going to recess and eat drinking drinking milk and eating cookie it anyway, wait you speaking from experience?
Yeah, who was pay fifteen thou kindergarten? The judge?
Hey, it is Look the thing it is ojo. Like I said, I think the kids got a better appreciation for what I did. Now, I know, see the thing that's ojoe. Like when kids that they just look, they want what they want. They don't really know, especially if the parents aren't together, and maybe if they even if they are together, what one parent or the other parent is doing to make sure they maintain that standard of living. I think my kids now they see how expensive stuff feels, even though it's more expensive. Now when you do that three times, they're like, okay, they have a greater appreciation of it.
And so but that but that but that was it.
And then you know, we sit down and we talked about it, you know, and it's like okay, and some of them like what I think for me? I think the best thing for me is to take them out of private school, because society ain't private. Yeah, it ain't no situation. Just because you got this, this and this, you're over there, They're going to be more in a situation. So I need to get them acco made it to the to the real deal.
So yeah, when I think about that, that is a great question. That's a great question because I have a lot of I have a lot of athletes coming to me even even this day, and they've been doing it throughout the years, and they always ask, man, listen, o jo, how do you do it? How you able to handle the issues with those you have kids from. I only have one them having problems, and she's giving She's making my life a living hell. Blah blah blah blah blah blah. Man whatever it may be. And I'm always giving advice. I said, listen, those individuals you have kids from, and that person you have a kid from can make your life a live in hell.
Obviously, oh for sure, for sure.
But one you got to understand who you had a child from. Understand understand the makeup and the d and they are the person you were dealing with and what they were doing before you came along. You already know one about you. It's what you can do. So now you to deal with it. Now you got to suffer the consequences. Do everything you can to make that individual happy. You don't have a choice at this point. Yeah, now you're stuck.
Yeah, oh Joe, but you know when you're young, O Joe, I'm trying to be right. Yeah, I ain't trying to keep no peace right ship.
I would I thinking. I'm thinking long term, man, I'm thinking. I'm thinking long term. I'm thinking long term.
I'm would be right. I wor about I worry about tomorrow tomorrow, but today I'm right. Yeah I got today, I'm right. But as you as you start to get older, you're like, okay whatever. Yeah, yeah, but you like you don't want to you don't. You don't want to get taken advantage of either. Man.
That that's that's my fate, that's my advantage.
Tell me, tell me what the child needs, say any reason, tell me what the child needs.
At any point, at any time, you know, and those they know, they know. I just had I had. I had a conversation with one of mine moms, coming to an agreement like this is what I have to do for so and so. Oh no, baby, you ain't got to worry about that. You don't have to do nothing anything you need. Man, just hit my line, you know, be good, Well you don't have you don't have nothing, And they thank you. You've got nothing. The word I have for so that even shouldn't be a topic of conversation, you know. So something is as great as I think I have been as a father, I have so much more work to do. Oh yeah, for sure, much more work to do. You know, as soon as you think, soon as you think you've made it, or or you've reached a certain point where damn, I'm doing a good goddamn job. You know what, Man, Life comes at you fast. I don't nowhere, need where you think you are.
Oh Joe, I don't live in the past. I already told my kids. I can't get back what I lost. I see, time of the one thing that we can't recapture. All I can do is try to be the best I can moving forward and every day. You know, we have a conversation that you need something, I'm gonna give you. I'm gonna be honest with you. Now, I'll be honest with all my kids. I'm honest. My oldest is coming out here for Christmas. My youngest just left. She was out here like thirteen fourteen days for Thanksgiving. My son is married. Now he's not as mobile as he once was. He's married, got my grandson. So but I'm you know, hey, we'll work in progress. We'll work in progress.
We call, we talk.
But there are some things that I know I need to get better at. But they understand, you know every time, like, damn, Daddy, you work a lot. Dadd I thought you would slow down. I was like, and do what I said, let's just say, for the sake of argument, because I'm good enough, I could retire now and live comfortably, never have to work, never have to say another word, not doing anything?
I said?
But what am I gonna do? I ain't got no hobbies. I don't travel, I don't fish, I don't play golf, I don't I don't build legos.
I mean, so what what what?
What?
What would I do if I did nothing? And when I wouldn't do that before noon, So what would I do? I don't look at what I do now is work?
Right?
This is oh, this is fun. This ain't no work. Hey, this this ain't this, ain't this ain't work. This is fun. I enjoy this. I enjoy going on inside the NFL. Anytime I could still be integrated and submerged in the game of football and still have some piece of it attached to me. That is not work. That is considered fun.
But see that that's the thing, because they asked. It's like, Daddy, they've always seen everything that I did. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I thoroughly immersed myself in it. And it's like, you think we ever we ever go have a job that I said? I don't know, I say, but I want you to. You should probably find something, because there's nothing worse then waking up every day and hating to go somewhere or to be somewhere, or to do something right. Or I guess, I guess it's the same thing. If you were a partner, you wake up every day like, damn, you're still here. I'm still here?
What the fuck?
You know?
You?
If I was hoping you'd be like the Indianapolis coach in eighty four, just move your stuff out in the middle of the night and you're still here. But nah, But in all honest you know, the thing is is that the work ethic that and it's hard, and people ask the channel the conversation that you have with your kids, given how you grew up, Oh Joe, my kids couldn't survive one hour, one hour in my life the first twenty years, not one, right, not one because they've never had a job in which they haven't worked in AC And I didn't have a job that I worked in AC until I got to CBS.
So I was in my thirties.
Every job I had, I was in the damn son, or I was in the elements so or I was at the Chicken house, or I was in a field and so.
And I remember, I remember I didn't like those jobs. But I just remember getting up, like damn.
Going to work, like, man, hey, this five dollars where I was gonna get money for You didn't go to work, you didn't get paid.
Man, five dollars go a long way back then, O Joe.
But you got to understand, O Joe, I was five or six years old, in the fields, working ten twelve hours. Woo whoa and shit, this this is this is what I knew. From that point on, I've never ever slacked on the job. My cousin and my cousin Landing, they called him son that the bosses, Joe, Tatum and Tiny. They were brothers. So we worked for them. They called They called me pee wee because I was so small. I was small as a kid. They called me pee wee. They called him Sundown because he's like, mister Joe, it's time to knock off the sun going down. So they nicknamed him Sundown. So man were working one day and he said, Man, he's like, cuse, we need to man, they need to give us a raise. I said, well how much? He said, Man, ask mister Joe for a dollar. Knowing me, they put I'm the youngest, so he pushed me up. They put you up to it, he put.
He put me on no day.
He because my older cousin. But they were already making I think they was making like fourteen dollars a day. We was making five. Walking behind the back of here. And so I said, mister Joe, man, we've been working hard. We man, I said me and landy man, we be working hard and uh man, we need a raise. He said, well, peepe how pee wee? How much you think you made? How much you think you should get a raise too? I was like, I don't know, give us a dollar. We need to make six dollars a day. He said, okay, pee, we six dollars. It is so we get to raise. Mister Joe tell us like on a Monday Tuesday, we gonna get to raise man me and by cause we get out there, we start bull driving.
The next day. My sister say nothing because now because it's.
Me, my brother, my two Arnel, Eugene rested soul LANDI uh I think doctor Pearl was there, me my brother, So it was.
It was. It was a crue of us.
So we out there bull driving around. We played a horse a round. We done got us a dollar, read a ain't serious no more. We get home that night, Libby said, Granny, them boys, them boys got a raise, and all they did, yes, all they did today was.
Playing in the fields. Mm hmm.
My granny said, that's all she said, Oh Joe, that's all she said. She didn't say, I'm gonna I'm gonna tell y'all ass up. She didn't say none of that all. She said, next morning, mister Joe, pull up, blow the horn. Granny, come out there, Joe, Hey, Mary, how you doing, said, I'm good. Uh, Libby told me you. Oh, you gave them boys a raise? He said, yeah, Mary, they've been working hard. I gave him a dollar. She say, take it back? What take it back? And he took it back. From that point on, I ain't never went on nobody job in bullgive. I don't care if he paid me five dollars. I don't care if they paid me fifteen dollars. I don't care if they paid me seventy thousand. I give everybody an honest day's work. And that's what my grandma said. Boy, when somebody give you an honest day's salary, you give them an honest day's damn work. And from that point on, I probably was no more than about six or seven. Yeah, probably, hold on, I might have been I might have been I might have been nine, might be might have been nine. I might have been eight going to nine, because that was like seventy seven. It's like in seventy seven, so I'm probably nine years old.
But you better than me because o that dollar would have been spun. No.
But here's the thing, oh Joe, we got sea back. Then we got paid at the end of the week. Right, so we got paid, so and we worked behalf a day on noon. So but miss so we had the corner stove, SAP's corner to the corner store, and so we could get stuff on credit.
So we going there.
So honey buns was a quarter. Yeah, twelve hours can soda was a quarter. Chips the bag you gotten out, it costs a dollar. Whatever it costs was a quarter.
Quarter back then, yeah.
So we could go get whatever we want on during the week and then we'll settle up with Miss Christine at the end of the week. So we going there and my bill, o jo, let's see five, I got hold up five six, so five days, that's thirty half a day that was two fifty, so I've made like thirty to thirty two fifty. Yeah, oh joy o jo, my bill at the corner store, we about seven dollars fifty ten dollars.
Number jump number nicknack right number nickname.
But from that point on, when when my grandma told that man, even though I was nine years old and we're working ten twelve hours a day.
And we bull job.
One day on the job and she told that man to take that dollar back. Never again, Yeah, never again. I ain't never I have never ever gone on anybody's.
Job and played around.
No sir, no sir, no Surrey, I don't know it. Nope.

We appreciate that, man. I really appreciate the support that you guys have given me. Let me know your feedback. Anybody that's grabbed the bottle unders opinion, let me know what you think. We think we got the best product on the market for VSOP. But hey, maybe you think different, But just let us know what you think. Andre k Newman, Uncle o Jo loved the show. Been following you since the first day on the network. I just got my bottle of the Porty. You can't wait to pop it over Christmas Day, Team nightcap, Andre good looking? Good looking?
Oh but that's the thing, oh Jo. Why would you go on somebody's job and not work hard? Even Oh yo? This is what I tell people.
Young people work a lot of jobs because working a lot of jobs as a kid. Or let you know what you don't want to do when you get to be an adult, because if because think about how flexible and how easy it is for you to move about when you're a child. Now you think you think I wanted to work twelve hours in a field and then go work another four hours and catch chickens. You think I wanted to clip pick up he cans, clip onions ball? Hey you think I'm want to do that for the rest of my life?
You know the funny thing about it, though, But times are different now. Times are different. Now people want a lot of money for a little bit of work. There's your time people. And sometimes people don't even want to put no work in. They find they find loopholes around it. You know, I'm gonna go ahead and clock in. Then I'm gonna I'm gonna sit over here and act like I'm I'm working or doing something. People people don't want to don't want to work. I'm wanna put the work in for the money that they want. You know, it's it's it's different. Now, there's nobody out there. There are very few people that really want you know what, the way you put on that goddamn hard hat. You go to work and you ain't gonna play no games about what you do. Everybody ain't like that. No, everybody like it's different.
Now everybody want X, Y and Z, but nobody wants R, S T. Nobody want to do that now. Everybody, man, I want to make all that money. Man, man, you're working too hard.
I don't want to do all that. You want somebody to take care of your big rusts? Yeah right, you got you got to get it.
Anything about it is another thing, especially when it comes to women fellas that that are grinding, that are working. You know, women never are around for the grind. They never around for the grind. But when the product is finished, everybody in your front door, they ain't never there for the grind. You know, when it's hot, you know you're shooting in the gym, or you're out there on the field working your routes and doing all that. But boy, let draft they hit. Let that name go across the bottom of the ticker. Everybody loves the finished product. Don't want nobody, nobody want to help you, help you build, or help you get there. Ma'am. I but my grandma, always my grandma. Something about my grandma and these motherfucking sayings. Grandma always had. My grandma always had a goddamn saying. Boy, don't you ever try to build an empire with a woman seeking attention from the village. Okay, boy, shit.
Can't You can't because I think the heard oh Joe. But let me tell you, let me tell, let me see. And I've dated, I've dated some, I've dated a few people.
Don't need to call them name, but you have to understand.
We need, we need name for reference in context on what you're talking about.
Oh Joe.
The difference is between most athletes myself and I just speak. I'll let you can speak to you, I'll speak to me. People have been knowing who I was since I was sixteen because I was that guy. Yeah you that Savannah state. Yes, I was that guy. Yeah after my third after my third started, my third year from their own, I was that guy. So I've always gotten attention. You see, if you've never gotten attention, you want it later in life.
I'm cool. See for me, that's say, fame and fortune. Give me the fortune. If the fame I don't. I don't need to red carpets. I don't need none of that. I'm good.
But but she she couldn't understand. Say, and why you don't I say, because, baby, I've been this. I just didn't become this. I've been this and I'm okay and I'm okay now, and people like, uh, that must make you feel good when people want your autograph. I was like, I mean, it's if when you young, O Joe, when you first started, because I remember my brother. My brother used to get so annoyed. He's like, man, he said, you go to see you go to see because O Joe without first signing everything. It It's okay, he's okay. And and the thing is the problem that I got now o yo. People will wait till they get finished with their meal and then come ask you to sight take a picture of side.
I was like, oh, say, I noticed you. You waited until you was finished with your meal. You didn't want it.
You ain't want to reinterrupt your meal. But you ain't got no problem interrupted mind, right, I mean hit it because you hit them with that for real. Yes, oh Joe, I'm watching them because I get you know, I'm watching.
I'm paying.
I try not to make a whole lot of eye contact with people when I'm walking. I'm I'm from point A to point B. Hey I hear, but I don't see. Yeah, And so I got my headphones on and I'm you know, especially when I'm traveling. If I'm going to New York, normally Azure or George Whitman were going somewhere, they're normally with me, and they know, Hey, you better have some track shoes because I'm hey, it's damn here. Hey my luggage is in there. That's how past I walking. It ain't rolling, it's in there, cauld I'm move it right, So that's funny. But but but that's the thing though, Oh Joe, I'm like.
It's it's I mean, it's nice. I'm not gonna tell anybody that it's not nice. But I don't. I don't, I don't. I don't crave it. Yeah, I don't. I don't crave it.
Yeah, I'm I'm at Once upon a time, I was like, man, I want people to know me like my brother. I want people to know me like they know John Away. I know, be careful what you asked for, God just might give it to you.
Yeah, let me see it just it just came. But a territory for me, it came with the territory I had played, and I built myself up to a certain to a certain status and certain figure where I became a household name very very early. And it's still that way. But my approach is always different. You come bother me, you come bother me while I'm meeting. You come and bother me while I'm meeting at a restaurant, I'm gonna make you pull up a chair and we're gonna finish the meal together.
Like I'm like that.
Like I'm different now. Man. I always treat people when I see them, not saying I mean I'm just a little different. I'm a social butterfly, I talk a lot. If you walk up to me, I hold a conversations, which you have twenty goddamn thirty minutes. I ain't got nowhere to go. And I've done I've done it to people before that that bothered me out at restaurants or places I might be at the time. And I will force you. I will force you to sit down with me and finish the metal.
And have a conversation.
Yeah, if you if you interrupt, Oh yeah, you interrupt.
Man.
My older my oldest daughter, when she when we were, when I was when I would get the kids for the summer, because I would get them, I would get him for the summer, and we go out to eat. If somebody come up to talk about autograph, she wasn't having it. He said, no, this snapping. She said this, this is my time with my daddy.
Yeah, with the kids. My kids gonna be tripping.
No, but she did.
She did because she I didn't get a whole lot of time with them. I didn't get a whole lot of opportunity to sit down and eat and you know, and how was how was? How was camp today? You know what we're gonna do? You know, we hey, we're gon go to six flag blah blah blah, and things love that. And so she's like, just that little bit of time to sign an autograph for the car, and the conversation that was gonna take away from her.
She's always she's always been the vocal one the other ones. Now my daughter.
When I went to see her graduate, when she graduated, and you know, people like because I was like, I told her mom, I said, look, I'm gonna come in there. Hey, you go in and sit down, let me know where you're sitting. I'm gonna come in there once to kind of the ceremony start.
He's in there.
And so once the ceremonies, like people started, and so by that time she had started to come She's like, nah, this is my day.
Ain't no picture. I'm the only one taking pictures.
With dad right right, right right right.
So I was like, hey, she's spoken, Hey.
Listen, my kids be funny. Man. You know when we when we when we travel or when we in the pack. This ain't no one two or three mayannas. It's a bunch of us. Now, will somebody come ask me for a picture? Ship everybody jumping in the picture now, Hey, listen. I know street family photo. Yeah, man, family photo. You get every last one of us, they'd be and be so goddamn funny.
Man, Ojo. Neil West asked, O Joe, when did you first get in the cigars?
Oh Man, listen. I'd never forget nineteen ninety one. You know, when you're young and you want you want to be cool, you want to hang with the crowd. But one thing I wasn't gonna be able to do is to walk in my grandma house smelling like no goddamn weed. So what did I do? Because I wanted to fit in. I just wanted to be a part of them. I started smoking cigars because I saw it on the show, I think with Jake and the Fat Man. Remember the show Jake and the Fat Man. Yeah, we had we had the little bulldog. Yeah man, he had a goddamn cigar. I followed him. I went to high school at Beach High. I went on the beach. There was a cigar, a cigar place right on Washington Avenue. I'd never forget, and I grabbed a cigar and started smoking cigars when I was with the Fellers. And that's how the cigar things started. As I became to learn more about cigars as time went on. Obviously, now I have my own brand and I've been doing I've been smoking cigars since nineteen ninety one. That's crazy for.
A long time, very long time.
David Bryson said, Oh yo, I witnessed greatness seeing your daughter Chanelle run track at the Junior Olympics a while back.

Do you have a favorite undisputed episode your your or a segment you're extra proud of? And oh yo, what story you've always wanted to tell her but never got a chance? Man, Look, bro, I'm gonna be honest with you.
AJ. Every episode that I did.
I had six years nine months of great There are a few times that I thought it went over the line, but bro, I poured my heart and soul into it. I can't even lie. I was as prepared as I could possibly be. And like I said, I'm not gonna let two three bad episodes ruined the six years and nine months of great times. So for me, it was great when Skip gave me the goat and I had to go and he had the twenty three jersey on I've had. I had some great I had great moments. I've had a thousand more great moments. The great moments overshadow any bad moments, and I think the thing what happened is that people have replayed the bad moments so much more so than the good moments. But Man, I had an unbelievable that was I wouldn't have been here without undisfuted, no matter what transpired at the end, there is no nightcap with uncan o jo. I don't believe what I undisputed it. I don't believe that they're sharing it on first take without undisputed. I don't believe I'm the number one supports celebrity. Voted for it by Complex Sports Personality voted owned by Complex without undisputed, So I appreciate everything underfeudy dead for sharing the shark. What you got, o Joe?
What you got?
What story you've always wanted to tell? Who you want to tell, what you want to tell, but never got a chance?
Story that I wanted to tell? Yeh, I ain't really got nothing you're gonna you know. I'm I've been an open book since day one, so I don't really really had nothing. I share every goddamn thing you know. And the fact when you live your life public like that, where you don't have nothing, you share every goddamn thing going on. I tweet every goddamn thing I'm doing, where I'm going, what I got going on, so it's like there's no surprises. So I ain't really got nothing to share because I tell him my fucking the world, my every fucking moves.
Uh love the show fellows question for both of you on top five hip hop artists from Atlanta and oh your top five hip hop artists from Miami God Damn.
Ship from Miami, Ross, pit Bull, Uncle Luke, uh Trick, Daddy Ship, Trina. I'm about that. I mean, it's I don't know, it ain't even fair man, I can't. There's too many people from Atlanta, and that's that something I'm missing. But I'm just off the top of my head, I'm just thinking that people from from from Miami head.
Yeah, well you can't have no lists from Atlanta that they'll involve hip hop without Usher.
So Usher not hip hop. That's that's that's.

Huh yeah, okay, okay, okay, Dodo Brown, I would have right, I would I would right.
Unk it, Old Joe. How should the NFL have a situation like Matt Rosa going forward? The punt god.
He was the guy that if I mistake in San Diego State, right san Diego State. He led the nation, even the Luke Rose Award, he led the nation. And punny he got selected by the uh Buffalo Bills. I think what second third round, but he was a high draft pick for a punter and at an office at a at a at a party, young lady said she was sexually assaulted and accused him as being a participant.
Yeah, hey, relay and don't be don't be coming in this goddamn house. Is time in this late buck got going on?
Uh, it's damned if you do is damned if you don't. Because if they'd have done nothing, everybody goes say, man, they ain't do nothing to him.
He got accused of this. And if you do something and then they say they overreacted.
I just don't know in the situation like this, I honestly, honestly, Lou, I don't know how the NFL because they've never been faced with situations because when the NFL was instituted, they ain't have no manual for this, right, So this is trial, this is figured it out as you go along.
I'm just glad he was exonerated. Uh, he was found.
Uh it's tough because you know, you get that scar, you get that letter hung on you. You know, it's it's tough. Yeah, it's tough.
It's tough.
I hope somewhat some other team hell Broncos, give him a chance, Raven, somebody give him a chance. He deserves an opportunity. He's too good. He's too good because the questions I have, O Joe had this situation not a rose, would he be in the NFL.
Now that the situation has been he's been cleared, he's exonerated. What's the hold up?
So hopefully everything works out in his favor and he gets an opportunity to get to play in the NFL.
H He he probably will next year.
I'm sure. I'm sure.
I'm sure somebody will pick him up. Lewis, go ahead, maybe the best bring you back next year?
What do you think? I hope, So, I hope he gets an opportunity. He deserves that.
Uh.

Okay, uh spoke lou OUs self spoken, lou Ou. My name is Laurent and I love what you guys are doing. What advice would you give someone who thinks they're not enough? Are you talking about you? Don't think you're enough or she doesn't think she's That's a good one, mate, What would you say that again? Say it again so I get a better understanding of what he was asking.
He says, what advice would you give to someone who thinks they're not enough?
Damn if you don't think you're not enough? I thought, like that confident confidence? I'm oh yeah, yeah, confidence. He ain't got confidence? Best ship? You are you losing the battle already, You're not lost half the battle already.
Yeah.
You always got to have that confidence always.
Women like a man man with confidence, you.
Got to you gotta walk like it before you even open your mouth or your presence. You just just how you carry yourself.
Yeah. When they see, when they see, when they see, when they see, when they see that's a man.
Yeah yeah, the way the way I carry myself, the way I conduct myself. Uh, I'm firm, I'm sturdy. But they're like, okay, he's subtle, okay, yeah yeah yeah, smooth, big heart.
Yeah yeah. Sense of humor. I got a great sense of humor.
Sometimes if you guys have noticed it, uh, and yes, they like you know, I often wonder like comedians when they meet someone do the do uh the person? Do they want them to, you know, tell them jokes or tell them stories? And I often wonder that, but you know, ojo uh, over the last seven eight years, people want to hear us to want to his stories.
Yeah, yeah, your experiences, some of the things you've been with.
And and the stories that I've been telling, these are the ones that I can tell on there some things would probably need to go on a book or go in the grave with me. That's the that's the bad. That's the bad part because the stories that I've told, I probably got a thousand more that I can't tell right right right, Laney Ray said, tell them to o Joe. You always talk about what you're giving others for Christmas. What's the best Christmas gift You've ever gotten? And what do you want for Christmas? Oh yo, that's a good question.
The best Christmas gift, that's Christmas gift I've ever gotten. And I don't even like gifts. I like I like to be doing the given obviously to.
The I'm I'm definitely I'm definitely I'm a giver. Yeah, I'm a giver as well, So best the best gift I've ever gotten? Oh, my goodness.
And I'm simple too with the gifts I like. I like stuff like soccer jerseys, you know, retro stuff.
My mom got me a pair of Air Jordan's, the two's, I got a pair of those.
I got a.
What do I get?
You remember those those handheld football games that came out, like in the seventies, the late seventies.
These they have got a football game, like a little football game.
Yeah, I gotta see it.
Uh damn.
Trying to think best, favorite best.
I'm trying to. I'm trying to thank the best gift that And I think I think Laney Ray. I think that's her name.
I think when she's asking, like, I think she's talking about a gift that someone like a female has given given. Yeah, oh ship, what a best gift? I gave him a mean one? I mean what cripal? I gave my mean one. Yeah, man, Santa Call came down the trip and heard that, went right back up there.
What what it was?
Well?
I gave a mean one.
You gave who a mean one? Man?
She talked about talk about she needed talk about. She wanted a tenage of to make it hurt. Yeah, I hit her three times and hit her with an al boat. Yeah, and I was out to do.
Don't even play with him, don't with him.
Damn, I've tried to man. Oh, Choe, I'm like you, Oh, Joe, I'm really simple.
Probably matter of fact, I can't even I can't even think of nothing. I can think of one of the one of the nicest gifts I got in general, but not Christmas time.
Oh my goodness, I think probably no, the best, the best gift. It wasn't just Christmas. It was for my birthday. I had an ex get me a picture of my grandmother. It was the picture that I have in my truck, and it's May and my brother at the Hall of Fame and then my grandmother is in the background.
Oh that's nice, that's the that's the.
Because it was I mean, everybody knows what my grandmother mean.
And then I just like, for the longest time, Joe, every every gift that I had gotten, I had given the individual the money to get the gift. So when I got when I started getting things and the woman was buying it with the old money that I'm like, Okay, but I'm simple. I don't I don't really really.
I don't know. I know one of the nicest that car.
Just give me a car, just give me a card.
And if I deal with you like that, you know, you know, you know, yeah, I think that the nicest gift ever got was obviously you know, you know, I love smart cars. You know, people have made fun of me and my smart cars in two thousand and six. But miss miss Thane there, you know, every time I hit ten thousand miles on a smart car, I get a new one, you know, and I put the put the matt rap on the black, the black matt rap on it. Yeah, and I got to the ten thousand yard mark on one of them, and this this one, he'll surprise me with a new smart car. And that was yeah, man, that was yeah, that was that was I just just just you know, but just time.
You know what I'm I'm I'm really simple, o yoe, Because like I said, you know, my kids always say that what you what do we get you?
What do we get you that? What can we buy you that you don't already have?
I wish my kids would ask me that, because I'm gonna say, I want me a yacht. I want the same kind of yacht. Goddamn Mark Cuban got so y'all pitched, y'all get your motherfucking money together. I wore the same yacht just like that.
Well they better, they better start developing something, developing something to get that yacht that he got. But for me, oh yo, I just think. Look like I said, I'm simple man. I just hey, miss you, thinking about you, love you? Hey, kiss. I'm good.
Yeah, I mean I I.
Because Christmas has lost the meaning because that's not what Christmas was about.
I mean, it's not what it's about. But you know, it's hard to tell kids that Christmas is not about getting about kids.
I'm talking about the kid. Go get toys, kids, go get toys and start yo. So I'm just yeah, I'm.
That's a good one.
Let me try to think what would be if somebody if you could say, you know, what if you say, if you could get one thing for Christmas.
Right now, right now, me, right now? Yeah, Oh give me cigars. I know I have my own brand of cigars, but for me, it would be a box of chat. Listen to me. If y'all want to send me something for Christmas, send me a box of Daniel Marshall twenty four carrot gold Leaf cigars. Get me a box of I'm gonna say it again. You know my address, Daniel Marshall twenty four Carrot gold Leaf Cigar. Yeah, that's what I want. Now, you get if I wake up Christmas morning on the motherfucker twenty fifth and I got a box and then, motherfucking Damian Marshall's somebody in this house gonna be pregnant and they're gonna be due next year around September. I tell you no, lie, I just want to know you see, I had to throw that that little hen out because I know she could probably hit me.
You ain't gonna beat me to the punch. God, I tell you what you said.
Twenty twenty folks were having kids.
I want to come down there because I'm gonna post a picture of my Christmas tree. Yeah, don't post the picture of my cripple tree. I would have come down there. What bowt it?
Yeah?
Okay? And they go by that tree that they butt ball. Yeah, that what I woke. That what I wore for krillmer oh year, oh Joe, you owe.

Oh whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa whoa, whoa whoa, whoa, whoa whoa. Just like I'm listen, I just explained I do all I do that. I'm just as I a giver. I'm the giver. I'm a pleaser. I don't do them nothing. No, no, it don't work that way.
No, no, sir, No, sir.
I like we I liked we was going with it too. It's a good question, though.
Black, you don't let the whip cream. I don't need no whip back.
I'm good. I don't play that, no, sir, No sir. And listen, you gotta ask. You gotta ask these days too, are you going, baby? Yeah, you gotta ask these days. That's a good question. And you know me, I don't care. You know, I'm gonnaell. You'm gonna tell. I'm gonna tell you. I talk about everything. I'm my open book, always have been. But now I don't play that.

You ask all these questions, you ask all this stuff you really don't care about, and you go through the motion just to just to just get to just get skip the skip the bullshit, skip the book. I'm speaking as as older. Think about all even the women, the women that in the chat, Think about all the times you went through what I call the emotions, doing everything the right way, the dates, the whine and dying, the blah blah, and he reaches the end goal and then boom, he's gone.
Oh Joe gone. You can't ask a woman on the program.
You can ask whatever you want, depending on who you are. Some people don't have a choice. Sometimes you have to go through that.
It ain't in me. I can't ask if you barbecue or the meal do it on the first night.
