Hour Two of the Good Morning Football Podcast begins with hosts Jamie Erdahl, Kyle Brandt, Akbar Gbajabiamila, and Golden Tate examining the congested NFC West - which team is the biggest threat to the 6-4 Arizona Cardinals? Then they rank their top-5 AFC teams! Later, Golden answers how the Bears can bounce back and where the Baltimore Ravens go from here?
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in partnership with iHeartRadio Good Morning Football.
This is Good Morning Football.
It's our show.
We know and love and we love to be sponsored by Old Trapper Beef Jerkey. We're live here in la as we are every morning. It's Tuesday, November nineteenth.
This is Kyle Brant.
That is Golden Tate at the table for the day. Here's akbar bashabamella. I am Jamie r at all. We just went through every range of emotion as it pertains to joy and guilt and regret and anger. Kyle, it's great jacket, but I think you were most proud, perhaps of Golden Tate and the appearance that he made during Angry Runs.
Golden Tate. Frankly, your name sounds like you're pro wrestler.
I mean that is a compan I love pro wrestling, and so you completely leaned into it. You had the luchador mask, you did the whole character. You're a pro wrestling guy. I can tell yeah. Growing up I definitely was who was your guy?
Growing up? I was the rock, the Rock, the Rock, I what the rock is? Yeah? Celebration.
Can you do the eyebrows that.
Looked like an angry A.
Lot of emotions be watching When Night Football and the Cowboys and the Texans last night as well.
Yeah, I feel like if the Cowboys were a pro wrestler, they'd be the Rock.
Not this year.
I mean just generally as an organization, very famous, very flashy.
Let's get right into the highlight. If you don't mind, go ahead and roll it.
It is Texans at the Cowboys. There's not much left to the Cowboys right now. It's a sad state of affairs. But you like to see the good will from CD with Dak who's out for the year, and yet the Texans are like, too bad, tough, we.
Got we got injuries too. We're dealing with him and we're going to run right to hell for you.
I said this before the first team All Pro vote for running backs this year is going to be fascinating because you have Derrick Henry, you have saquonmccaffrey's out of the mix. But Joe Mix has been incredible.
And it's a sixth straight.
Game with a touchdown and I'm just gonna te out he had three in this game. He was the best player in the game for either team. Joe Mixon fantastic. So much attention to go to the Cowboys, of course, but the Texans great, great night, one by three touchdowns, three score seven and four of the Texans and that bad divisionist the Colts come runing.
Let's hear from the Colts rather.
The Texans head coach Demiko Ryans talked about his team's ability to close out the game.
It wasn't just our offense.
I think a lot of the stories being about our offense is I look at it defensively like we haven't finished in the second half, right, And for our team to go out and really play a complete second half, right, to shut them out in the second half, that was more a bigger deal to me than us scoring a touchdown.
Right.
It's just about us.
Coming out, playing with the right energy, executing and finishing the proper way.
That's what finish looked.
Like, all right.
That is the definition is Demiko Ryan sees it as finishing or closing out the game, and they did so with the Cowboys. I believe mathematically the Cowboys eliminate it now from playoff contention as we look at the NFC side of things, since we know how power full and much of a juggern Not the AFC is. The NFC is a lot more interesting if you really look past the top two teams, because look at the third seeded team right now, that beautiful red bird, the Arizona or Arizona Cardinal, sitting above another red bird in the Atlanta fountains, in the four seed in the NFC South. Now the Cardinals, they are on a bye this week. And I was on an interview last week with the Cardinals media person and I was like, you know, unpack the NFC West for us, Like, you know, what the Cardinals have to do this weekend, sit back and let the rest of the team's demise, just let them beat each other up. And that's exactly what the Seahawks did as they find themselves lurking outside. However, they had a massive win over the forty nine ers on Sunday.
Gino gets them back to the line of scrimmage twenty two twenty one, gets a snap, looks steps up, got to run ten tide Jado down, sheyhawks, holy catfish Jado slip run slip side, can't find anybody open from thirteen out, twelve seconds left. Heard the Seahawks take the lead nineteen seventeen.
Are you kidding me? No? Quit in this bunch, have a thank Gino.
That is the night night if we went from too small tonight night with Gino.
Now, the Cardinals.
Again remain up top the nfc WES, a very chaotic division, the closest in the NFL amongst these four teams, as the Rams won in New England, and then you see the Seahawks and my god, the forty nine ers in the basement of that division.
Here we go. The Cardinals are in first place of the NFC WES.
I shall say it again, the Cardinals are in first place of the nc West. What is the biggest threat to that red bird flying through the air right now atop that division.
I'm going to say, a green and blue bird. I think that's the colors of the Seattle Seahawks. I think I think the Seattle Seahawks. They have been sneaky good, especially Geno Smith, you know, showing that attitude. But when you look at what he's done production wise and how he's feeding his wide receivers right now, they're the only team with two wide receivers that are above six hundred yards and that speaks to you know, Smith and Jigba and of course DK Metcalf their production down the field. But Gino Smith, he's just leading this team in a different way and they find ways to win, especially in those critical moments the two minute drill. They're putting up a lot of points in the two minute drill. Typically when you're operating from those those two minute drills, you're playing from behind. The ability to come from behind them, that's exactly what they're doing this point of the season.
They're coming from behind.
This big win against a division rival, or not division rival, but someone in the division, of course, is the forty nine ers. They came out strong in this game. And so I do believe that this is a team where, you know, we can turn our heads and go the Seattle series. But McDonald's got them boys playing. I believe in them. I think they could be a sneaky one to give the Cardinals fits.
It would be fun. Where are you think going? I completely agree? All right? And you like Seattle too? Yeah, okay, talk about Look you look at the schedule. They step to play the Arizona Corners twice.
That bit or bad. Cardinals are good, I know, but so opportunities. But that you have opportunities. If you can win one or two of those games, even the playing field, and then you're back in that you could be in the driver's seat. And they play them twice the next three weeks at that, and then after that the Seahawks got what the Vikings and the cheese Heads, which are good teams but very doable, so they.
Can get back into the next and so.
They can fight with them.
Look, I'm all always gonna stay faithful to my Hawks anyway. So but like the way it's set up right now, they're playing good football. They have playmakers, they figured out their identity which is which is key, and that's going to push them.
I wish I could join you guys. They've lost five to the last seven games. They lost to Daniel Jones, Like, that's not something you do. That just doesn't happen. I have no beef with the Seahawks. I have no quarrel with the Seahawks.
You know what it is.
It's easy to get caught up emotionally, and how the way that Niners game ended. It was very dramatic, and if we weren't showing Josh Allen running through the Chiefs every ten seconds, we'd be showing Gino running through the forty nine ers.
That was an awesome ending to the And yet I have a.
Group of teams in the league, NFC, AFC, everywhere that are just like from my cold.
Dead Hands team. I can't let go of them.
One of them I had to let go, and it was the Bengals because they're four and seven now and they never win. So you know, on Monday, I let them go. But I can't let go of the Niners. And I can't let go of the Rams because when you're having trouble making decisions and trying to see who's going to come out of some sort of fray, just clear out all the clutter, look at the head coach, looking at the quarterback. So for the Rams, I'm home. I'm not like I still think. I still think mcmay is the best coach in the NFL. And Stafford is Stafford. I never let go of the Rams. The Niners a little more interesting because obviously Perty is not a solidified as Stafford, but Perty still legit. They lost that Yuk, they lost McCaffrey. Then you see, you feel like you get McCaffrey back. Now Kittle is out. They lose a heartbreaking game at the end of the season.
But like, when are the Niners the Niners when they're not doing something strange.
Having some bad injury or getting some sort of heartbreak Two weeks ago, that guy Deebo Samuel was about to get in a fight with a long snapper.
It's always weird with the Niners. It's never smooth sailing. So I kind of have.
Tie and like, it may just be that the Cardinals aren't being able to be caught.
I like the Rams and the Niners, but I'll.
Give a slight, slight edge to the Rams, and I think they have a slightly better quarterback. I like the Rams. Maybe they're not fun to talk about. They had a terrible lost two weeks ago to Miami, but.
I don't care. They're back. They beat up the Patriots. I think the Rams still get into this.
Can I just give you a little this this happened, or just I'm thinking about this. So, you know, growing up, you know in my neighborhood, you know, there's some rules that you had to have.
You know, you have to have street.
Smarts, right, and one of the things that my dad used to tell me is you got to be careful for the quiet one, the one who's not saying much, the one's not getting a lot of that's the one that could be the most dangerous. And I don't think we're praising the Seahawks a lot.
We're not.
I don't think a lot of people are kind of overlooking them. And that's the one that you start barking at and they come around and go boom. And it was the smallest dude sitting in the corner. His clothes was jacked up, he didn't look good, he didn't you know, none of that. And that's the dude that has all the fight. And I think that's what the Seattle Seahawks are right now in the NFC West. I think they have a lot of fight them. As soon as somebody come out to them, they going to get a nice little like punching and the Joe edit.
And I like the advice that the quiet one doesn't usually get beat up by Daniel Jones though, like that usually doesn't happen. I'm sorry to pilot Daniel Jones this morning, but like the Giants are not a good team and they beat the Seahawks and dogby, I feel like I just defiled your childhood I'm sorry, it's an important message, but I can't get through with the Seahawks half the table, can Jamie?
Were you not sure if it's applicable to the NFC West? How about that?
The inherent basis of the question is actually, I think kind of backwards, because when have we even give the car given the Cardinals like they're right five minutes on the show just to talk about, Hey, the Cardinals are good, and here's why we have to identify. We do this exact question with the AFC West all the time. What is the biggest threat to the chief? Can we just give the Cardinals a beat for a second and get us maybe unpack why we got here. The fact that they're with the second year head coach Kyler Murray, after a long time and a very tumultuous start to his career, is playing pretty great. He's got a young wide receiver, he's got healthy guys coming out of the backfield. The defense looks better and better every week, and frankly for their head coach Jonathan Gannon to have kind of, if you remember when he got hired, kind of a strange arrival to the Arizona Cardinals.
He's greeting guys in the hallways he's Depp and be Bloup were like, what is this energy?
We're not sure of it coming out of Philadelphia. The Cardinals have arrived, So can we just maybe, Kyle, I'll start with you give the Cardinals their due before we start evaluating the threat that they have within their division.
There's a prejudice against the Cardinals.
It's obvious, it's real, and it's only going to get bigger as they keep winning. Watch and this network is certainly on other networks. You think they want to talk about the Cardinals, they don't. They don't they because they're not sexy.
If they don't want to.
Talk about the Cardinals, because it's a sleepy little market. The quarterback is just as mem fodder has been for years. The head coach j instantly jumped in and became viral for his weird speech.
That was two years ago. In the meantime, they destroyed the Jets.
Last week, they beat the Chargers, they destroyed the Rams. They have quality wins that I'm super sensitive about the Cardinals. Even Jamie, I'm even on you. When you started the segment, You're like, the Cardinals are on first place. Let me say that again the Cardinals, and I stop doing that.
Okay, there's nothing to say it the ones undertone.
It's the undertone.
I don't appreciate the tone. There's this Oh my god, I can't believe the Cardinals.
It's not September and they got off to a fast start and they're free and one like that's this is different.
Now it's thanks getting next week. They're in first place and watch they're going to.
Come out of the by guess who they play out of the buy it plays Seattle and if they give them the business, I need you guys to come on over.
But until then, just remember that little kid sleeping in the corner and everybody's paying.
He's going to be Why can't the Cardinals be the quiet kid?
And they're the ones tell them at but they see it as a.
Whole, as a whole, like no, they were the quiet kid to start the season and now they're punching everybody in the face. You nodded, Golden when I mentioned the fact that they have Mars Marvin Harrison Junior and like a young team that you had some that resonated with you.
Yeah, but also with youth experience, you don't have the experience, and meaningful football is played starts in November around Thanksgiving time. Now, yes, they have come off to a really good start, and it's like, wow, okay, we see your Cardinals. But I'm gaining confidence.
But I'm not.
Completely sold on this Arizona team.
Just shit.
Now each week they will they can gain my trust.
And every three weeks they got they got games. It's right, the adult It's Minnesota Seattle again, right.
And this is kind of it's becoming crunch time. Like one of the few things that I took from Matt Patrician Jojudges, meaningful football starts after Thanksgiving.
This is these are.
These are the best bites of the sandwich right now. I love the stretch push. I am going to personally enjoy so much watching all our friends at ESPN and Fox being forced to talk about the Cardinals because they know they don't want to. And I get it, you're gonna be forced to. The other thing I'm amused by Jamie is that Jamie started the segment also by saying, you were on a show, a Cardinals show, unpacking the NFC West. Jamie, you have a very demanding job. You have three children at home. You should be unpacking the diaper bag. Why are you going on NFC West radio shows in your free time and unpacking? You don't you do enough.
It's called multitasking, it's called wired headsets, it's called me read.
To the game.
I don't know what you don't get about.
This this season. We gotta be mile marker twenty six. We gotta have something in the time.
This is an important podcast start, okay this time of season.
I'm going on the Colts podcast.
I'm going on the Cardinals podcast.
We're talking everything.
All right.
We got Jamie heard if a good morning.
It's going to unpack the AFC South for us. Jamie's got a baby in her hand, another one she's helping color, and she's cooking dinner.
Jamie, you got a lot going on.
It's okay to say I can't do it this week. I can't.
It's Minnesota ill, and you can't do it.
Just three kids at home.
She wakes up at one o'clock in the morning every day, go to work, and then she does shows. It's it's really impressive. I just want to make sure your health and well being come first.
Thank you. I appreciate that. You know what they asked.
Me though, and I told Kyle this yesterday.
They said, how many times has Kyle Brand said I told you so about the Arizona Cardinals.
It was a real question and it was asked me twice.
How many times if I said no when they call it had me on the show every time.
I love you guys.
I'll do it at the end of the season, I promise, but this is my priority. I want to make sure I got the energy here, Jamie. Unbelievable.
Thank you, Kyler.
Appreciate that.
There's a real opportunity for the Charges to go very, very far, and a lot of people are sleeping on them, but they need to give them these they're the best team in LA. They're the third best team in the AFC.
Okay, our production staff just just salivating right now when you said the third best team in the FC. They're just thinking, like, let's rank the AFC teams in this segment.
Let's yeah, listen, right, we do a lot.
Of TV instantly produced segment. You're welcome. We'll try to make another one for you. In this segment. It's perfect. It's mcs.
Here's the justification. We got our whiteboards out. We're going to turn them around. We have teams written on them.
Okay, it's your five, four, three, two one AFC rankings. Explain your justification however you want. But Golden Tate, I do warn you this will get screen grabbed, it will get put out into the universe, and you will get loved and crushed simultaneously for these opinions. So proceed with caution as you con start.
To rank off bar. You are assigned to go first.
Are you there?
Kind of ready? I'm here, I'm left handed. I'm left handed, and I'm a little awkward.
But me too.
I've got right here, ranking number five.
I get it.
I get that. The oh thank you very much. I just finished doing that.
You know, I ranked the Baltimore Ravens at number five, and I know a lot of people are looking at me, like, what are you talking about?
I know, I get it.
The offensive production has been outstanding, Lamar Jackson throwing up big numbers. But you know what, that defense is a major liability.
That defense is giving up a lot here it is. This is so awkward for me.
Okay, here we go.
Number four, the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Now the Steelers, they have been playing some consistent ball, especially defensively, creating all sorts of havoc. And of course they go out and they beat the Baltimore Ravens, showing that they're at the top of the AFC North. So of course they should be number four. Now number three, I know it's going to create a lot of controversy. Let's see if I got.
This excited about this artwork. This is really cool.
Oh thank you, it is a burg gonna fly out. No, I've got the Chargers.
And I stand on this that the Chargers have been so good, especially defensively. When you think about how they've been playing the ball defensively, they've been all over the place offensively, justin Herbert seven and Hay has been going at it production wise, so that offense is moving. They're cooking with that. Jim Harbaugh, All right, here we go. Here is number two. Now, of course they move into number two. The Buffalo Bills. They're gonna move into number two because why they beat the Kansas City Chiefs.
They've shown that they are the top dog.
They can't be the number one team because of course the Kansas City Chiefs one are the number one Chiefs. At one, they're the number one team. Even though they lost, but they still have to be You have to prove to me that you can take down the Chiefs multiple times. They lost that one, that's okay, But the Chiefs defensively, Spagnolo has got them. Dudes playing at another level when the offense isn't playing well.
All right, I'm going to establish this for the record. Today's Tuesday.
So just over forty eight hours ago, the Bills beat the Chiefs. But you think the Chiefs are better than the Bills?
Absolutely on percent, and they've shown that throughout the entire your work of the season, not just one game, the entire work of the season.
They've shown that their best team in the.
Why don't you go next?
And since we have a guest yere, you should probably make sure don't do anything that's like in my fifth team, I couldn't decide, so I put two, like you got to pick, and that's what makes it hard.
You have to commit.
Yeah, I'm ready, all right, here we go. I didn't have anybody pre draw my logos, so I'm.
Stylar.
We got three minute commercial breaks. You're over here. I'm so awkward, and then here I am like a lonet, Like what is that?
This is great artwork. You say upward, you're really good with.
Draw You're so good at explaining your rankings.
But who drew that?
Give them their flowers?
That was awesome?
I drew it. I'm saying behind this, Yeah, you think of it.
I wish I would. Who ever did it come? Get my wife work right? You did?
Not awkward? We're talking. We're talking in the next commercial break. Listen, listen.
I'm just trying to distract the fact that I have Broncos at five because I think this is really, really fun and'spically the Denver Broncos.
I like Sean Payton.
I'm kind of I'm getting on the Peter Schrager Sean Payton bandwagon. I think it's very dangerous when you have a coach come in the second year endo the system. He has created a culture and a dynamic. And I don't care if you if he was going to sell us some bill of goods that bon NICKX was going to be his number one overall pick when I don't care. He got his quarterback in the Denver Broncos. Really good defense.
You can of comment. I'm sorry.
You know why I like the of the Broncos because it sets up that you're not going to have someone else, Like there's only five Gemes available right So right now I'm like, oh my god, it's not that you have the Broncos. It's so fast about who you don't have.
Okay, here we go. I got Baltimore next, the Baltimore Ravens.
They slid down to four. In my opinion, I trust what they're doing offensively, like you up, bar, I do not trust their defense. I agree with your justification of the Baltimore Ravens. However, I go with the coach once more. In the second half of the season, I put the Kansasity Chiefs at the third best team in the AFC. Right now, I have recency bias. I struggle from it with my own kids, who bother me, but then I love them the next day. It's just happens to me in my life. So Sunday had great impacts for me and the Kansas City Chiefs. A defense is great, Andy Reid is awesome. So I have a lot of experienced coaches in my top five AFC. I put the Pittsburgh Steelers above the Kansas City Chiefs. This defense, I can't I can't imagine this was game without TJ.
Watt, Russell Wilson.
I think it's fascinating what they're doing at quarterback, and I actually think it's intentional having withheld Justin Fields from certain run packages. And I know they're going to do it late in the game whatever, but I think there's something coming there with the Justin Fields experience in the run game.
With the Bills the number one.
Yeah, so I bopped the Texans right out of town with the top five. It was a cool win on Monday Football. But it was against the Cowboys and what.
The Chief's number three? Uh, you might have one game.
I might have went out and the Bills just beat a team that had won fifteen straight games in a row.
They did win the game.
We had this great thing where the teams play each other and we have one win. Jack, Oh, that's the better team.
It's awesome.
Yeah.
Wow.
But the two losses, they have two losses, I know. But then I'm going.
With coaches and the recency bias and the second half of the season come running.
I'm going these are my top five.
As James, Should I go an extra Golden? What do you think, because Golden's a little scared.
I think we're scared about it.
I'm a little nervous. Listen, I'm trying to make it make sense that you're nervous. I think it's gonna be good TV. Let me give you one note before you go. I want you to do it complete, unapologetically. Don't say well, I have to just say, this is my list. It's better than yours.
Screw it. Go to the cameras. All right, all right, all right, there we go. Five. I'm going with the Chargers. Okay, okay, all right.
Herbert is throwing the ball, he's running the ball. They're putting up boat loads of points.
I love the season. All ransome guy. Number four. I'm gonna go with the Steelers. See the board turning around. Go to Steelers, the Steelers.
The Steelers actually probably write a little bit better, but that's the Steelers.
I like the Steelers.
It's it's I can't put him any higher because they won two games without scoring a touchdown this year. It's odd to me, but look, Tom is always gonna find a way to make it happen. Okay, and he's doing that, and Russell Wilson is doing just enough, and that defense is always gonna be good.
Second best scoring defense in the league.
That's right. Number three.
Spoiler number three, I'm gonna go with the Ravens.
All right, an assistant gold, Yes, I really do. You just talked about it. You just talk I got all right. Number three, I'm going with the Ravens.
Okay.
If it wasn't for the turnovers and penalties, they they would have molly wopped the Steelers in my opinion, like that verb. Yeah, so they have MVP, they have King Henry, they can score whenever they want. Okay, Number two it which is here we go? All right, Bills, yep, Bills. They find they they did win a game against the chief yesterday, but that was only the chiefs first loss. I mean, you know, but the Chiefs have Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes Kelsey that they're not really utilizing the way they should defense and the defense. So I'm going with the you know, I'm going with the Bills.
Number two.
Number one with the Colts, oh no, no, number one.
So number one is the.
Chief As I just kind of explained, and it kind of went back and forth. Here you can go either way, but right now, you gotta to be the champ. You gotta kind of consistently beat the and.
They got the best record in the AFC, the best record right in the.
AFC, right in the National Football League where it is extremely hard to win. And so kudos to the Bills. But I need to see a little bit more.
You keep looking and trying to justify this to Akbar because I feel like your brother in arms and not putting the Bills at number one, even though the Bills just beat.
The defending Chymps.
But just make sure, yeah, and the Bills have two losses and the Chiefs have only one loss.
I'm just saying, I mean, what else.
I mean, if we're going to use the argument that they just beat the Chiefs, then we have to then use that as a reason to say, well, they have two losses.
Look, I played for Detroit when we were like, I don't know, five and something, and we would beat the Packers who were number one see or winning the division the last game of season. But that didn't mean we're a better team, right right.
Right, Just like Jake Paul, Jake Paul beating Mike Tyson doesn't mean that Jake Paul is a better fighter than Mike Tyson.
Nobody would say that means.
Mike Tyson got twenty million dollars to have the fix b in and not doing anything.
Yeah, king ridiculous.
This is not my This is not my first time around the block, and I am not going to be victimized by this segment.
I'll tell you why. Look how generic the lower third is. There's no date, there's no week, there's no nothing.
If I just turned around my five teams, it could be completely taken out of context and I could look stupid. So this I covered myself. Here we go.
I'm going to cover up the team.
This is like a hostage.
But I have some legalles on my board.
All right, Okay November nineteen, twenty twenty four, based entirely on how they're playing right now.
You're not going to do me dirty.
I've been screencapped before.
You could put up those five teams you guys just did. Two years from now, they'll be like, oh look with Jamie rid all things to Amy're like, what's I did that two years ago? I've been around the block number five, the Ravens. That Ravens just did they austin Pittsburgh and in score a touchdown. Right now, I don't think they're playing terribly well, and they have some weird losses and they got some things to figure out. Number four the Chiefs again, they just got beat by the Bills. They needed a block field goal to beat Denver. It's not that they're not going to win the Super Bowl. They probably will, but right now, as we're in November, they're not playing their best football. The number four. Number three the Chargers. The defense is fantastic. They got lit up in the second half by the Bengals, but every team gets lit up by the Bengals, and then they beat the Bengals just like the Chargers did. Number two the Steelers. I think it's actually more impressive that they won a game without scoring a touchdown. They completely own John Harbaugh. They get Lamar to play his worst football. They're going to play the Ravens again. They may play him two more times. The Steelers, and then the Bills. The Bills just beat the back to back Super Bowl champ.
They did it in pretty emphatic fashion.
There's a conversation going on right now that I've been part of a little bit. Is this the best Bills team of the Josh Allen era. It's a big debate back and forth. Maybe the secondary is not as good, but the offensive line is good. You know what's fantastic about the Bills right now. Vibes are great, they're happy, they're loose. It's literally one game at a time, and it sounds annoying, but it's true. I think the Bills right now November nineteen, twenty twenty four are playing the best football in the AFC, based entirely on how they're playing right now.
Time for Like It Never Happened? Presented by SERF Pro Golden.
Tate at the table with us all the hours today on GMFB. Golden Tate, Unfortunately, you've had experience the highs in your career and some lows, so you can qualify for talking some teams through like it never even happened. The Bears drop their fourth straight game on Sunday, dropped the game to the Packers block field goal.
You know how it goes.
How do the Bears bounce back and act like this never even happened?
Lots of unpack Yeah, look, I don't know how you bounce back four straight losses. You're firing people over there. I just worry about the mental of kleeb Okay. Look, six months ago, we were like, oh he's going to be the greatest thing since Slice Sheese, and we're going to get him right, and he's going to be the franchise quarterback. And now I hear talks of like should they drafted another quarterback? No, you should not draft another quarterback. You should bring in someone who can support him and teach him and develop him to be the quarterback that I believe that he can bed. You have players on offense and defense, You have a lot of talent. You even have some veteran guys over there. Now make it happen.
Enough of the.
Excuses, But I'm not going to complain because they're not going to catch my Lions.
Yeah, I don't think it. They played the Lion's top.
Actually, they play them obviously in two weeks and Thanksgiving. The ebraflue situation is really interesting, and there's a lot of people who want to see a coaching change at at the top. The Bears have never done at midseason in the history of their program or the franchise.
Think they will have.
You had experience playing for a coach who's maybe doesn't have a future with the organization, like that might be their last year. And I hate to cast on a nebraflus because it's not decided yet.
But there are a lot of people thinking about it.
Have you played under a coach who you know that's going to be their last year and what's the challenge of that?
Yeah, I played with the coach and I knew it was gonna be his last year. It turns out he didn't even make it through that year that we were talking about. So I went through it in Detroit where the meeting starts late, and then I thing, you know, hey, we're gonna let go of so and so, And then it happened again and with New York and it's it's not healthy. It is not healthy, and it's hard to function because we are creatures of routine and knowing what we're getting each day with the schedule to practice, to rehab, the food and so on and so forth, and so when you just come in and shake it all up, it just really like I used to get so anxious and like wondering, like what's going on? Like I just saw this person get fired at my next because usually it trickles down, is it not?
Maybe good sometimes because there's a fresh energy. See what was going to with the Saints right now? They fired the head coach that wins in a row. Is there not a positive like a weight is lifted.
There was times where you may change this and I felt like, oh, yes, now I can start balling out or I'm going to get fed more.
They're going to you know, get me the ball more.
And so yeah, and sometimes that's what takes a team from bad to okay and then ask you for a little bit.
But ultimately, like I feel like more bad.
Than good cot the Jets from that, But individually, individual success can come from it, for sure.
Yeah, a lot of that two has a lot to do with a lot of the same the people that in that mix that make that decision. There's you fire one person, but there's still a core group that's carrying the same type of philosophy. And I think like with the Bears to bounce back that old line. I mean, Caleb like the second most SEC quarterback in the league. Like they've got to be able to protect.
Them and Caleb listen, Caleb was the better quarterback against Green Bay. He played really well. He played well in the final drive. He did everything you would want a rookie to do. And then the field goal gets blocked, so it wasn't the Caleb from the.
Previous few weeks.
The coordinator change did make make the help, but I don't know they got the Vikings this week.
What do you think? Sane?
No field goals wocked in Pittsburgh this weekend. The Steelers went six for six and they handed the Ravens a loss within their divisions. Very important the Ravens, though, it was not just the fact that they couldn't put points on the board to via their offense. It was the penalties. It was missed Hughes, mistakes. They're all mounting in Baltimore, Golden. How do the Ravens, who have a ton of expectation, a lot of a demand for this team to now try to topple the Steelers and take the division back, Where do they go from here?
Well, I think it's a very simple concept.
It is hold on to the ball now. That is it? That is it? That's even sway too good to be losing.
To a team that doesn't even score a touchdown to beat them. And you look at the penalties, the turnovers, that is what did it? I mean they were driving the ball, held down, the sideline, catch, the gray pass going to scoring position, gets ripped. I mean that just can't happen really good teams, and that's what's going to hold them back.
I mean this, we.
Play a hard game here, okay, and if you make it way tougher, if you can't hold onto the ball and you commit penalties, there's no room in this league for that.
There's one of the stock segments that we never do is is they've done it for years on every different shows, Pretender or can Tender. All Right, So if you look at Baltimore right now, you feel like this is the special year? Or does it start to feel like a little bit of a groundhog day thing? Like right now Baltimore feels to me a little bit like Dallas has for the last several years.
They're always going to win a lot of games.
They got a start quarterback, there's a lot of glitz and glamour, and they got a lot of good players and ultimately they let you down in the postseason, which Baltimore has done. Does this feel and maybe I'm casting too much negative on them, does this feel like a special Ravens team? Do they want to get over the hump that we've been waiting for them to do? Lamario in the Super Bowl.
Finally, absolutely, this feels like this is just a little hiccup. And I'll tell you what the biggest difference is for me, is because they have a run game, and a dangerous run game, and that's what they have not had in the past. When you have a good defense and a good run game, you can control games. And if it wasn't for silly, knuckle headed mistakes, they win this game last night or a Sunday, right, And so it's that simple. You have a running back that is the best in the world, maybe even MVP time Tales, and so in the postseason, you want to grind out games and you want to just control the game, hold onto the ball, play that gritty defense that they have and then and see what happens. So I think this year is for I feel like this year is very different from the past, yes.
Good different and different from the Cowboys too, because I mean not like we've seen this type of production the last couple of years. You know, almost twelve hundred yard rusher, You've got the four hundred and thirty yards of offense, and then you got Lamar Jackson, who's just you know, an anomaly.
You know, the Ravens like sometimes getting to a Super Bowl or getting late playing late in January.
Sometimes it has a lot to do with luck.
If they can just not catch the Steelers for a third time in the playoffs or something that would bode well for them, because it might just be that the Steelers have their Achilles heel or something like that, or they just know how to get after them.
Lamar doesn't play well against the Chiefs either, Like there's not a lot of ways to go out.
For the Bills or the Texas.
It's we're coming to a point with Lamar where it's like, how many of these seasons you're going to get before you cash win in.
I get at the AFC's tough and Mahomes.
Is out there, and you don't like to talk natively about Lamar, but he just played pretty poorly in that game against Pittsburgh and you only get so many prime shots, and I would like to see him do it this year.
But if she's tough,
