Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in partnership with iHeartRadio.

Good Morning Football.

That's right.

Welcome inside, everybody. This is Good Morning Football.

Yeah, brought to you buy Old Chapper Beef Jerky as always. I'm Jamie ard All. Here is Zach bar bos Shabi and Milla. There's Peter Schrager. There's Kyle Brandt. Kyle, I'm surprised you're still here.

I'm still here.

Last hour we did Angry Runs. It's the longest one we've ever did. It went on for hours. We had seven nominees. I'm not going to spoil if you didn't see it, who the winner is, but it is someone who did something completely vicious and actually hilarious. Jamie, you did something hilarious and incredible. It's just you made a trip last night. Yeahll us quickly bout it if anyone's just tuning in.

I went to Glendale last night to watch Rams vikings in person. I was going to go at Sofi Stadium, so I figured why the heck not.

I flew there with two producers from GMA.

The Rams were gracious enough to welcome me us as a team back onto their flight here to La I got back into this building across the street from Sofi Stadium at one am. I slept on the couch in the back, went to here and makeup. Here we are in the show. We're doing the highlight. The Rams look awesome. Vikings.

I love you.

Maybe next year we'll figure out your quarterback situation in the offseason.

Here we go, geez, let's do it, Jamie.

Incredible.

I'm wonder how many people have slept on lead louch, you know, like do you sign it underneath or something like you're part of that's incredibirth.

Wow. All right, So let's lock in here.

Because the Rams had you travel for a quote unquote home game because of the wildfires here in Los Angeles.

We're right next to their stadium, but they didn't play in it. They went to Arizona and Manda. They played beautifully. They're moving on.

The Vikings are going home twenty seven to nine in a home game on the road in unimaginable circumstances. Afterwards, the aforementioned Kobe Turner, one of the great young personalities.

And young players in this league, sold our bridge at Condon.

What this win meant for the city of Los Angeles and Sean mcvale got also got in some words about how was team presservered take a lesson?

What is this team not just for the Ramsbrook, for the city of La.

Yeah, we had the city on our back this week, and I'm glad we were able to go out and pick up a job. You know, talking to us all week about in the bank of rebuilt with us, everything that we've gone.

Through, you figure out the true.

Testament of the team, how they react in a storm.

And we started in the storm and now we're up here.

So I'm just excited to keep going with these guys.

Everything that these guys have gone through, I thought they epitomized and they represented the city the right way. You talk about sports offering a platform for people to come together offer a little bit of temporary relief. And I thought the way that our team competed tonight was what it looked like. Just to fight, the spirit, the resilience, all the different things that are great traits that this team has really built through the challenges that they've gone through over the course of this season. And I'm really proud of them.

And that sets up the best football weekend of the year. Argue with me if you want, Kyle, I know you believe it.

Jamie and ackbart too. And you have your final.

Eight teams and the four best games of the season. You got the Texans going for their second year in a row to the Divisional Round at Kansas City, where the Chiefs will look to start their run for three straight. Then at night on Saturday on Fox, wait Tom Brady in the building. You'll have Ben Johnson in the Detroit Lion offense going up against Cliff Kingsbury and that Washington Commander's offense. Then Sunday's of Beauty Rams Eagles for the second time this year and then Ravens Bills for the.

Second time this year.

Both of those matchups will be rematches from games played earlier this season.

That's a beautiful set of logos if I've ever seen one for the divisional weekends.

Well, Jamie, no, why it's such.

A beautiful set of logo because the Chiefs logo's back in it and the Lions logos. And that is the bottom line of why Division round is the best in the wildcard run.

It's fun.

The two best teams don't play. We haven't seen the best teams aren't playing. Like seeing those lines chief logans.

Absolutely absolutely.

Peter started our show last hour saying that the Rams pulled off this unimaginable thing in seventy two to change locations of their home game, and their game production was stunning.

They won the weekend.

If you work for the Rams, congratulations, Let's go around the horn.

Though in your world wild card weekend it's a final fatal completes in the books.

Who's the biggest winner, Peter, besides Rams and everything they were able to do.

I'm going to go with those guys, I really am.

I do think they are the biggest winner of the weekend because they played this thing strategically. They didn't start their starters in week eighteen and they all rested. And the reason they did that was because they said, we'll play whoever, whenever, wherever. Little did they realize that that wherever would be outside of their own stadium. In Week one, they absolutely destroyed.

A Vikings team that came in with a fourteen and three record.

This was as big as shellaking as any this entire weekend, and considering what the Rams overcame of the last week to get to this point, it's really miraculous. But I also think it's momentum, and it's they just showed we can overcome anything. And I know that's sometimes we make sports into bigger than it is. This is real life stuff, and a lot of people who work for the Rams had to evacuate and don't know how their home is doing as they fly back to LA this weekend. But if you think that this doesn't galvanize a team and gives them some motivation to know that they're playing for more than just money and more than just the potential Super Bowl ring, They're playing for a city, they are playing for a state, and they are now representing Los Angeles in a way that I think sees fit. What a cool win last night if you're a Rams fan, and what an impressive performance.

Look I was in the building when the Eagles.

Just ran up and down and Saquon went for three hundred yards from scrimmage against the Rams earlier this season. This feels like a different Rams unit, and it certainly feels like a different Rams defense who sacked Sam Darnold nine times yesterday and made Kevin O'Connell just look downright confused in the final thirty minutes of that game.

It was confusing to watch too I mean just the way they applied that pressure. You know, looking at the AFC. On the AFC side, the team I think who absolutely won the wild card he was the Baltimore Ravens. The Baltimore Ravens. You have this nice matchup between the AFC East champion and the AFC North Champion. These two guys going ahead to hit and these are also to the MVP Bowl, whatever you want to call it, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, this is going to be a great opportunity to really answer the question. I think this answers the question that so many people are hung up on.

Kyle.

You've talked about it so much about it, you know how divisive this can be when you start getting into the nitty gritty of it. But when I look at the matchup, I look at the opportunity for Lamar Jackson to get back at the Bills and Josh Allen, he's zero to one against him in the playoffs. That run defense for the Bills, that is the weakest part of this defense, and I think Derek Henry, Lamar Jackson, they are going to exploit the heck out of the Bills in that run defense.

It sets up to be something interesting and awkward because it's very possible that the quarterback that loses that game wins MVP. So they're going to show up at honors and everyone's been fighting about this for three months and let's just say it's Josh Allen win's a VP, and it's like, well, you lost a couple of weeks ago to Lamar or vice versa.

It's all just beautiful.

It's awkward, and this thing has been one of the wildest conversations we've had about that topic ever. But I just I'm also at the place where I'm like, let's not forget we were thinking about last night a lot.

And I was impressed with the Rams too, I will say, Peter, like I was intrigued about what you.

Said about the galvanizing storyline and that it's not just a one game thing.

It could carry and it could carry it.

Also, sometimes we get to the point where like it finally caught up with them, you know, I mean, look.

At what we've talked about with Buffalo a couple.

Of years ago and all the things that they went through and DeMar Hamlin and after that loss in which they were really flat to Cincinnati at home. A common take I think even from the players themselves, where we were so mentally exhausted and it had been so much we just finally ran out of gas. It could go that way with the Rams, or they could just ride this thing. It's a fascinating factor. And I was really impressed last night. But let's not forget Jade Daniels. Let's not forget what Washington did in the World wild Card round. And it was seamless, and it was he didn't even blink at this end of the game. Is something I feel like I'll remember for a long time. It was so so impressive. And now we listen, it's Tuesday, right, it's like middle of the show Tuesday, we can start talking about the next games. It's do you think that Detroit is thrilled that he's coming? Like, would they rather have maybe taken their chance with somebody know a little bit more about maybe that has a little bit less ability playoff tested head coach through and through and a quarterback. Now that Jayden's beat in Tampa, he's got his playoff win. He is squarely in the nothing to lose territory. They go to Detroit and lose, who cares? Everyone thinks you will everyone's proud of you. You want not only as you make the playoffs as a rookie with that franchise.

You won a game, it is done, Your job is finished.

Make your travel plans, or go throw it fifty times and you might have to. The bad matchups for the Lions are just the teams who can score. I mean, they scored forty two points Detroit did on Buffalo and lost, so because Buffalo can score, Washington can score. I don't know if they can score enough, but I really genuinely think that I don't think Washington defense particularly strong. I don't think Detroit's defense is prickly healthy. I think it may may need thirty five points from Washington to win this game, which means jayde AND's just gonna have to say, let's leave it all on the field, and that will be worth the price of admission Commanders Lions.

I think Washington won the wildcard run.

That's an awesome answer.

I like what you said about the MVP quarterbacks going head to head and Buffalo because it sets up for something awkward at honors on the Thursday night of Super Bowl week. I'm going to be backstage conducting interviews. Can you imagine one of those guys coming off the stage after their hand of the MVP, and what that conversation is supposed to be.

Like, I can, Jamie, I I have done that job before. Yeah, it's mostly fun.

Oh so I get it because you don't want to do it.

No, I've not for year.

I've done for years. I did it like I did years and it's a great job. You'll really like it and you'll be very good at it.

Oh.

Thanks, it's almost all incredible because they just won an award.

Yeah, but if Josh.

Allen wins the MVP and he lost the individual to Lamar, the question is sort of like, yeah, but you did lose the Lamar.

I mean it potentially very all right.

Yeah, I don't love with that. Thank you so much.

I haven't, Jamie.

You have the job because I was fired from it. I wasn't good at it. That's the reason why.

Okay, I do agree with you.

I think it's a fun one. I did it one year, and you get the best out of the athletes you're going to get. The worst part is, of course, if somebody is you know, coming out of a pater.

Have you done this job, done this Yes, Chunky on camera. One has done this job before. That's I'm sorry, Chunky was great at itude better than all Jamie that you finally threw the short straw.

All right, speaking of people that lose things, let's move on to the biggest guy. This is a terrible tea up biggest loser from the wild Card weekend shape of an l on their forehead. Guys that may have moved on even but to play great Peter, where do you.

Big biggest loser?

Caroline Ray, Jillian Michael's.

Uh screaming at people in.

It was his name, doctor Bob or doctor something he was?

He was, Yeah, that was right.

I gotta say I hate recency bias. I know a lot of teams absolutely laid an egg, but like, what the heck was that from Minnesota? And I think there's a trickle down effect of this thing where it's like all seeds and we've been waiting for that pumpkin And then I don't know, did Aaron Glenn break Sam Darnold last week? And then Kris Shula just took it, took care of.

Business the rest of the way. What the heck was this? And we rave about our wide receivers. We go nuts.

They are the faces of the league, and we did a Netflix show. I'm sorry, guys, when you pay a wide receiver that money, he can't carry you in the big games. When the quarterback is getting assaulted like this by the defensive line. Justin Jefferson a complete zero, a goose egg last night. Sam Darnold might have cost himself twenty million dollars last night, and the conversation's begun.

If you're in.

Minnesota, are you even engaging and extending this guy's contract or he just letting them hit free agency. I cannot remember an eight day span that had gone worse for any team in any group of men in my time covering the league. This went from being potential number one seeds and hosting the playoffs throughout in Minneapolis with a buye to now we don't know about our quarterback moving forward. We are out of the playoffs and our coach is going to win Coach of the Year and might have put together one of the most lackluster performances we've seen in the playoffs in recent times. I am i at a loss for words, and for that, they're my biggest losers of the weekend for me.

It's the entire NFC North. For I think that's the one who is the biggest loser in this situation because I think of, of course the top three teams with the Detroit well minus Detroit, but you think of Vikings, you think of the green Bay Packer half. There is so much, you know, we think about so much excitement was around the NFC North. But then you look at the type of game that the Green Bay Packers had against the Eagles. You get three interceptions interceptions out of Jeordan Love. This was the division where everyone was like, yo, man, this team is stacked and loaded. And now we're sitting there in the division round and we've got one team representing the NFC North right now, and it's the Detroit lines. But the other two are one and done, with the Vikings and the Green Bay Packers. I think that that, to me was the big upset. I was expecting so much more. It was a massive letdown. I was especially from last night and then the Packers. I thought that they were gonna put up a bigger fight NFC.

Those two guys in the NFC North had a tough try. But like it's it's the Viking, it's the Sam Donald, it's Peter. They didn't turn into a pumpkin like. They turned into a pumpkin patch, like the whole field. And you have to drive two hours to get there, and your kids complain, you have to pay a bunch of money and by cider and doughnuts, and it was just unpleasant from start to finish, and you're just glad that it's finally over. Here's the way this week, this last few days of.

Gone okay, all right?

Justin Herbert like lays the hugest egg ever. He's like, ah, man, this sucks. And Jordan Love's like, I got you, hold on, hold on, I got you.

I'll pick you up, buddy, I'll take all the attention.

Yeah.

So Jordan Love plays terribly.

He's just getting skewered and then he's like, Sam Down's like, I got you, Jordan Love, I'll pick it up. I will take the baton. And there's the deal. Listen, there's many places if you want just full knives out, just carving, Kevin O'Connell, calling Sam Donald chokers and all that. There's programming for that. We try to stay positive, we try, but you got to give us somewhere to go and listen, let's just let's say it right now. The drafted JJ McCarthy standing on the sideline Sam Donald with the two of the worst performances you could ever see in the Tubes' biggest games you've ever played, and I.

Just think it's like, all right, here's their quarterback situation.

There's no possible way in hell you signed Sam Donald to a big extension after that.

You can't do it. There's no fan who wants that. You can't.

If JJ McCarthy is healthy and ready, it might just be your starting next year. Or maybe he's not ready and his knees messed up, and you're like, maybe we tag Sam and do one year and he can be a little more of a mentor for JJ.

It's possible, though, that that was it, that that was the.

Last pass he's ever thrown as a Viking, and it was probably intercepted.

I watched the game with the Vikings people last night.

I sat with them one.

I'm Jamie, this is perfect that you're here, because we're struggling right now with our identity of the show versus like that was.

Bleeping terrible, and we have to say it was terrible. Saw.

Yeah, so I want you to keep us warm, and I want you to try to keep us positive.

Can you do?

You can't?

No.

I mean the people that I was sitting last with last night, they worked for the team. I think they were shocked by what happened, but not surprised, if that makes any sense.

I think there was genuine.

Shock that how could we have played that badly against the Detroit Lions and had this much time with this coach and this personnel and not figured it out yet. It's January, it's the Vikings, not surprised. So somehow both of those things can exist. I would love to be the warm and fuzzy for you. Unfortunately, I actually think it made the quarterback decision easier coming the off season, and I know we'll take time to do this as it pertains the Sam Darnold.

But like shock but not surprised.

Peter, what do you got?

I think Jamie makes a good point that if there's any positive is that that game maybe gave some clarity to the Vikings.

I don't know.

I guess I don't love living in that mirth and in.

That place because the Vikings teams of years past had nothing to do with this Vikings team. And Darnold won so many big games and did so with his arm, like that overtime drive against Chicago, the winning Arizona.

You go to the Green Bay.

Game where he hits cam Akers like these things did happen, and then he just completely went into a shell the last two weeks and the.

Offensive line couldn't protect.

Him, and the coach who I love, love is running the ball.

And doing huddles when they're down eighteen. Last night, in.

The fourth quarter of a playoff game, they're running the ball. They're running the ball for two yards with cam Akers, and I'm like, it was such a head scratcher, So Jamie, I disagree. I was surprised because I thought they slayed those dragons, and it's just it's befuddling to me that they went out with such a whimper this season.

I was surprised against Detroit, I was not surprised last night.

I don't think the Vikings could beat anybody. Last night.

That looked like a broken team and the show's psychologically Peter at the end of the game. Stuff was bizarre. They had nothing, no urgency at all. It's like, can we just leave like they were done? I think they're in the utter Detroit, there's no they were in.

The huddle, like you know, twenty seconds what do what play?

Me? Call it handle one yard?

Yeah, And that's what happens when you get that type of pressure, you get that type of guy's up front being able to harass a quarterback like that. But I think when I look at Sam Donald, I feel like Sam Donald is literally a prisoner of his past failures and those those abilities. So I look at that bad game against Detroit, this game and it's like, we're done. But Peter, you made a good point in that he did win you fourteen games. That's not something that can be ignored. But it's only ignored because of his past.

All Right, it's Tuesday.

We do we inter we out.

You've seen all the news.

You saw it at halftime of the game last night, when Adam Schefter even just confirmed that there are clocks going on between Dion and the Cowboys.

I'm a bit of a skeptic on that.

And yet I'm not going to dismiss the entire possibility of Dion being the head coach of the Cowboys. And yet we do have to talk about the whole timing of the situation. The Cowboys and Mike Martha Mike McCarthy did not come to terms on a new day. The contract has expired. Me McCarthy is now a free agent, and the Cowboys have the opportunity to hire anyone now because they waited a week, they missed out.

Aren't even meeting with.

Vrabel, and they also miss out on the opportunity to interview Ben Johnson or Aaron Glenn or Matt Naggi or Steve Spagnolo based on the rules.

My statement is this, the Cowboys.

Will be just fine and didn't mismanage their head coaching search by the timing of this whole deal. Are we interview out Ocbar we start with you.

Yeah, I'm out on this. I don't think they mismanaged the situation. They had a situation where, if anything, I think that you know, they might have wanted to consider, you know, maybe trying to drag this thing about by Mike McCarthy's like, look, if you can't give me the dedication in the years to be able to stay in this situation and to really write the ship two hundred and thirty one guaranteed money for Dak Prescott. There are a lot of other pieces like the running back position that need to be addressed and they can't address it. When you have that type of situation, and then you look at the own division, they're not the best team in their division. You've got the Commanders, You've got the Eagles. Heck, we start going down the NFC. You start looking at this and going, wait, I need time. He couldn't get that time. Now, Jerry Jones, I think there's the opportunity and for him to say, you know what, maybe I don't want to go with the trendsetters of the Johnson's and the other name. Maybe I'm going to go somewhere else. Maybe I look at Dion Sanders or somebody outside of the frame of where everybody else Jerry Jones. We know one thing for sure. He does Jerry Jones things. Yeah.

So if I say I'm in, I say they're fine, and they didn't mismanage it.

I'm in. I'm in on this.

This is exactly how this was going to go for the Cowboys. It's kind of awkward, kind of clunky. We're paying attention to it, we want to talk about it, but it's the Cowboys.

They're like the Yankees.

They're like any brand that like is annoying you or your eyes at it, they get the big names we want to talk about him. I mean, on the fact that they didn't mismanage it, Peter and Kyle and ackbar because this is exactly.

How it was going to always be.

I'm sure Mike McCarthy's probably out on this topic.

And yeah, just big old beefy thumba his just straightened down, Like, what the hell I mean? Did you not I want to hire me? And when did you know when we were done? Was it a month ago? Was it two months ago? How long have you been talking to Dion? Could you just let me know? Maybe they did. I don't know where mich McCarthy's gonna land, maybe nowhere, maybe somewhere great, it's just the Dion thing. If this happens, it is a full, full commitment to ww E. It's we're gonna go full pro wrest because we've never had a conventional general manager and we never will and now we're not even gonna have a conventional coach. And I just like, is Dion a better head coach in the NFL than someone like Aaron Glenn or Mike Gravel or one of these guys who have.

Really done it.

He does a lot of things really well for Colorado that I don't think he can do for the Dallas Cowboys.

I don't think.

That that T Higgins is coming to be to be a Cowboy because Dion is cool, like I think he's going where he can set up his family and put up good numbers. I just I don't know if that impact works. And if Jerry does it, God bless it, and we'll talk about it a lot. But if you have Deon Sanders sitting here and Ben Johnson or Mike McCarthy even frankly, give me something that's a little more solid.

It's not as cool. But I'm just I don't care about being cool. I want to win.

You see some of the coaches going right now.

Sean mcdermot's a great coach. I wouldn't be like, Oh, Sean mcdermot's the coolest guy ever. It's just it's their football coaches. That's what they do first and foremost. And we'll see Peter.

I have bigger sports media thoughts on the Dion thing. I also think, honestly, I think it's the rare win for every single person and entity involved in this even being a story right now. I think it's a win for Dion. He can go and either be the head coach of the Cowboys, or he can leverage Colorado and get more money and an extension there. I think it's a win for Dallas. It gives the attention to the Cowboys. Whether you think it's a circus at home or not, we're talking cowboys, and then I thought of.

Dion as enticing. I also think it's a.

Win for ESPN, for Fox Sports One, and for NFL Network, and that we all benefit off this because it's such rich and juicy content. It leads to clicks, it leads to attention. To see all the people on ESPN and all the talking heads like really like validate it and say.

Yeah, I believe it's just what I think.

I can't imagine that a coach who's thirteen and eleven at the college level at Colorado all time and just lost in a bowl game to BYU is the best option. And yet everyone seems to be benefiting from this. And we'll see if it actually comes to fruition. I think a name like Kellen Moore is a lot more likely in the end of the day, and a lot of that has to do with the economics of the situation. All right, Now that that rants over the next one. The Washington Commanders. They're in the playoffs. They won their first playoff games since two thousand and five, and out of the woodwork. We're getting a lot of Commanders fans.

Maybe in your text.

Thread, maybe in your friend group, but there is a strong celebrity base of Commanders fans.

Who have been awoken. Here's just a few of them. I put this list together.

Kevin Durant, Matthew McConaughey, Walleh Dale, Earnhardt Junior, Josh Hart, Jeffrey Wright, the actor, Wanda psych Scott Van Pelt, the anchor over on ESPN, Sandra bull Off, John Bernthal, the Punisher.

I could go, David Chang, the Chef.

I could go Joe House from the Bill Simmons podcast.

There are a lot.

Of Commanders fans coming out and about. So you look at that list, we you know, we out the Commander's celebrity fan base is actually the best in the sport.

Kyle, that's quite a roster, Peter.

Maybe the most disrespectful thing you've ever said is Jeffrey Wright, the actor, Like Peter.

We know Jeffrey right.

You've been killing it for years, numerous awards and accolades. You ever seen him in the Shaft remake with Samuel Eli's unbelievable. But you know what, Peter, I'm gonna I'm gonna play to you here. I'm gonna toss you some fastball since you're the dealer here at this card table. I don't really care who's a list and who's the most famous. I want real people and real people who are with us and who are no longer with us, especially after last night. I like that Vikings fan base. Give me, give me some of the dignitaries. It's very morbid because so many of the people that I like in the fan base have passed. But gimme some of these, Like I remember when Louis Anderson was standing over the Vikings.

We'd love Louis Anderson back in the day. Next another one, give me give me the this biz.

Marquis just a friend.

I love Biz Marquis.

And then if you mean, if you think Prince was a famous guy, sure, I just like these type of people. It's an eclectic group. It's not all a bunch of movie stars.

It's not this what.

It's a different fun group and living gone otherwise, give me the Viking.

Oh my god, look at that picture. Look away, Prince was a freak. Oh my god, get that off the screen. You got what are you doing there? We go next? Where do you guys go?

Okay, all right, all right, I see all of these ones. Princess killing right now. I thought he was a Vikings.

It's like, wait a second, Oh that's funny.

But come on, how can we We can't overlook the original shot on the NFL. It's the Raiders, and everybody knows that the d have the best fans, the best celebrities. We know ice Cube yea, yay, Come on now know that we know of course about guy Fiery as well. Got theery massive Raiders fans. Uh, go back to ice Tea, even Jessica Alba. Of course, Tiger Woods. I used to see Tiger Woods at the game, and that's Tyger Woods at the game. And I just send our producer this picture. I don't know if you got it fast enough, but you know, running into like Royalty at a game and walking through the halls and you like, yo, that's Gladys fucking night. Gladys Knight.

I'm out.

I go New England, I go Classic Boston. I love all those Dunkin Donuts commercials. I love Damon, I love Krazinski, I love Wahlberg and Chris even shows up at the game.

Great, Peter. I know this is going to.

Embarrass you wholeheartedly because we are friends and you I know you think better of me than this. But like I would say, I may be a one year into discovering Bill.

Burr in his comedy, like I am sorry that I do. I do like it. Have you seen old dad and a Pats guy?

So like I can hang with Bill Burr, But like I'm shockingly way too new to the Bill Burr seemed like I'm a fan, so I go with with the Patriots Fanis I like it?

Kyle?

We got all these different answers.

I got to ask you.

Is there there's definitely Chiefs fatigue in America? Is there chief super fan fatigue?

Are people over the rud Stone Streets Sedakas, Heidi Gardner, David.

Keckner group, Kyle?

Is this a reaction to the Chiefs fans where we've seen it? We're good, Taylor Swift, take your bags elsewhere.

Peter, you can never have too much wriggle. There's not you can never add too much. As a man who served in the military and going on to comedy, I love Wriggle.

I will never get sick of them. If other people aren't, go ahead, but those are my people. I love them. I know they get sick. I need to sick of Paul rud and listen Ethres.

You're wonderful people and it's not their fault you can't beat their team.

Sorry to see you later, Peter.

Well done. I also like I think the Bills they got it's awesome. There's a lot of good Thank her and are guy Chad Michael Murray.

All right?

So that was we in we out.

Well.

I said it earlier in the show, this is the best football weekend of the entire year. We're down to the final eight teams and we have four matchups, but one of them is truly the crown jewel of the weekend slate, and that is Sunday afternoons Buffalo Bills Baltimore Ravens game. Yesterday on the show, I came out and said, I think it is the best Divisional round quarterback matchup considering that season's performance by the quarterbacks that we've ever seen, and a lot of Chiefs fans were outraged, and a lot of different fans were out there saying.

Well, what about this game. You're not hearing me out.

This is going to be the number one and number two in the MVP voting, both playing at the best of their careers, the APEX the best they've ever been, and scoring off for a playoff game for what might very well mean the right to play Patrick Mahomes in the next round.

So I thought, let's put together a list.

It's the top five quarterback divisional round matchups based on that season and what we were dealing with going in. And at number five, we go back to the nineteen ninety three season where two thirty seven year olds were squaring off in the playoffs for the first time. It was Warren Moon and Joe Montana in an all time classic down in the Astrodome.

Warren Moon was.

Finally that guy the Houston Oilers with a two seed and Joe Montana was the quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs as the three seed. It would end up being the final playoff victory of Joe Montana's story career and also the final game of Warren Moon's storied Oilers career.

Entering this game, Montana was a four.

Time Super Bowl champion, a three time Two Bowl MVP, and a two time NFL MVP. Warren Moon, meanwhile, was a six time Pro bowler and a two time NFL Passing Yards leader, and this was by far his best Oilers team.

What happened well.

Willie Davis and Marcus Allen and of course the famous touchdown by Cash where he.

Throws the ball up that Buddy Ryan logo.

The Houston Oilers would go down at home to the Kansas City Chiefs.

That's number five, number four.

He had a number three seeded Green Bay Packers going into a number two seeded San Francisco forty nine ers team led by Steve Young in nineteen ninety five.

Why was it so significant Far versus Young.

It was the first time that these MVP quarterbacks and both of them had MVP awards under their belt. It was the first time they would ever play against each other, and it was also the first time that they were first and second team All Pro quarterbacks. They would square off far entering the playoffs. Well, he would go on to win his first of three consecutive NFL MVP awards. Meanwhile, Steve Young, well, he was a four time pro bowler, a first team All Pro in each of the last.

Three seasons, and he was the reigning MVP. They went after it.

The Packers win twenty seven to seventeen at Candlesticks.

Steve Young would attempt sixty.

Five passes in the loss, but Brett fav would get the upset and the win, finally getting the Packers over the hump against a Niners or a Cowboys.

Team in that era. Number three.

I am going to the thirteen second game, and I know we're here. It's the greatest game. Ever, how could you forget this? I'm not forgetting it, Chiefs fans. I just don't think going in it was as dramatic as two guys who are vying for the MVP award.

But it was still a pretty good game to it.

It's a three seeded Buffalo Bills versus the two seeded Kansas City Chiefs. It was the second consecutive postseeding matchup between these teams. Remember last year they'd played in the AFC Championship Game. Ember Mahomes twenty eighteen MVP Super Bowl MVP in a four time pro bowler including that season.

Alan meanwhile, was.

A runner up to the MVP award in twenty twenty, and it's going through his second straight season of having thirty five passing touchdowns or more and five rushing touchdowns, first ever to.

Do that and back to back seasons. You know how the game went.

I say it's one of the greatest NFL games of all time, But going in, I don't think that quarterback matchup is quite what we have this year.

So which one is better? Which one would I put in?

Go back to two thousand and four in the divisional round, Tom Brady and Peyton Manning squared off.

And it was Manning winning his second straight MVP versus Brady, who already had the Super Bowl titles underneath his belt.

Brady two time.

Super Bowl champion, Manning, two time MVP, two time passing leader in yards, two time passing leader in touchdowns, and it's an all time class because.

The Patriots wipe the floor with him.

Patriots get the home field and Manning loses another playoff game, and he does so in spectacular fashion as Corey Dillon runs for one hundred and forty four yards over that Colts defense, and the Patriots defense holds that high powered Colts offense to just three points in Foxborough.

But going in the build up was huge.

Finally it felt like they were on equal footing and finally, Manning, with these two MVP awards and all of these passing titles, was going to get the best of Brady. But the defense wins championships and Brady got the best. So what's my number one the number one quarterback matchup going into a divisional round game for hype, for build up, and for what those two quarterbacks have at stake? Is this Sunday's Lamar Jackson josh Anen game.

I will not shy away from this.

I think this is the greatest with the most stakes.

We've ever seen consider their careers.

Lamar Jackson already a two time MVP and this year vying.

For his third.

Josh Allen the perennial runner up, and everything hasn't gotten over the hump. If ever there was an MVP season, it's this one. We don't know who the MVP is yet, but we do know it'll be these two guys. They did the All Pro voting. Lamar got thirty first place, votes. Josh Allen got eighteen. That might be a different total when we talk about MVP and how about the games they're coming off of, maybe their best playoff games ever. Josh Allen dialed in Lamar Jackson doing it with his legs in his arm.

I will not shy away from this take.

When you have these two seasons from these two quarterbacks.

And you're telling me they're playing in the Visional Round, I'm sorry.

It's the greatest quarterback matchup we have ever seen in the divisional round based on this season and all the build up that goes into it. I know we've seen Marino in Elway in playoff games in the divisional round, and I know we've seen others, but I'm not shying away from this. Here are my top five most decorated quarter back matchups heading into a divisional round.

A lot of.

Context here, Kyle, you are a football historian like me. Am I wrong for saying this is the best we've ever had it and with the stakes ever, what these guys have going on, this is what it is.

It's not the top five best division round games. It's not that we are sitting here on a Tuesday preview in the game. It is the matchup and the potential and the stakes, like that Patriots Colts game you called out. It was not a very good game, but it was an incredible matchup. We'll do games next week when the division round is over, and maybe Josh Lamar will find it. But in terms of matchup in stakes, Peter, you're exactly right. It is looking forward to the matchup is what he's doing here, Peter, Get off the man.

That's crazy, he said, the perennial runner up for Josh Allen. Wow, that's a that's an interesting take. He has been. He has been the perennial runner up. He might run it up on the on the Ravens. Great job, big.

Time, awesome, Peter.

It's like the spice of the poster of the boxers looking at each other.

I understand, all right, here we go.

How about it, folks, let me hear it.

I like that astrodome, Peter.

I like it.

I like it a lot.

Two time New York Times best selling author. He's also a TV personality. He's a popular radio and podcast host of the Bobby Bone Show. Therefore it is Bobby Bones.

Hello, Bobby.

Myself.

Yeah, love them already.

First and foremost you're teaming up with Matt Castle for new Lots to Say podcasts, and.

Recently you caught up with Kurt. Let's take a look at this.

First, you look at me, I'm like a six point five on the look scale.

I know, I'm no beauty.

Where I would look at Kurt like a nine, right, and I would be so frustrated to be good looking and have to wear a helmet when the other sports your face is out there. If you're good looking, it's mark. Did you ever have the need to like rip the helmet off, like after a touchdown so people could see that face so you get those shaving deals?

Yeah, I don't really know.

I make a question for people that don't play football, because that was never anything that I actually consider at any point in time in life.

That was ant from Kurt. That's really how he would answer that question.

Bobby, that's awesome, you know, and he's very good looking. And I got a lot of heat from people that were jealous of him being so good looking, say, how would you even ask that question?

But that's literally the.

First thing I thought, Like, if you're pretty and you had to wear a mask for COVID, like I felt bad for you.

Yeah, that was all.

Cover up.

Happyr face. How dare you?

Bobby?

You had one of my favorite people on the podcast recently as well, Jared Allen. I saw him this fall. He was inducted into the London Ring of Honor after having played in a single game in London with the Minnesota Vikings. That's how epic this guy is as a character. He even went on your show and told a story that he went to a veterinarian to hide an injury when.

He was playing for the Chiefs. Can you divulge more?

Well?

Actually, you know and I think a lot of the folks on the show will know this too. In your contract, there's certain things you can't do, ride a motorcycle, skydive and one of the things that Jared couldn't do was go out and like hunt with your bare hands and rip animals apart. And so he went hunting and he cut his hand real bad, and instead of going to a doctor or a team doctor, he had to go to a vet. Like it's like walking dead, because there were no doctors. So you go to like a vet to fix you up. And so he had to vet fix them up. And then he goes to the doctor in the training room back at practice and is like, I think I hurt my hand out there, and so then he was able to kind of get it looked at.

But basically he lied, that's all. And he didn't want.

To get in trouble for a hunting and using a fleay knife when he shouldn't have been.

Ooo great And that's so Jared Allen and it's the perfect story. When we talk about the idea of lots to say, Bobby, I look back in twenty twenty four the rankings of topics people had lots to say about. Number two would be the presidential election and number one would be the MVP race. It is way up at number one. I've never heard more passion and more opinions about Josh and Lamar and then you got Burrow and Saquon.

What do you have to say about it? Just jump on in.

I think that it's unfair that people are holding Lamar accountable for winning in the past because a little bit people are like, we don't want to give it to him again. It's like Belichick when he went to win Coach of the Year after he was obviously Coach of the Year. It's like Angelina Jolie when she wasn't like voted Hottest People Magazine because she had wanted so many times.

I think people are holding that against Lamar.

Statistically, he had a year unlike any other quarterback ever. But the difference is Josh Allen basically had wide receivers that are me and my cousins.

Yep.

He didn't have anything around him.

So it's just a bunch of dudes from down at the YMCA playing wide receiver and skill positions. And so I think that's why he's going to win. In a vacuum, Burrow or Alan or Jackson all win. I think probably Lamar Jackson should win, but I understand why Josh Allen will end up winning because it's again just him and the homies from down the street plan ball, and he's winning.

Yes, yeah, you know the homies they don't wear shoes like Mac Collins right now. They're just kind of running in the street barefoot, just kind of there you go, you know, making those type of plays. Bobby, we came across this photo recently. It's pretty funny.

Yeah, what's going on here?

Man? We explain yourself in this photo here? Like, what's going on?

Here, like, look at the both my most athletic picture. That's me and Des Bryant. So I got invited to play in the MLB Charity Celebrity Softball game last year and I went and I don't want a flex, but I was in the whole game and it was Des Bryant t o myself. One of my dear friends is Deion Sanders because we did a pilot for ABC years ago, so we've been friends and he was the coach and we won the game. And that picture is us winning the game, the team carried by me. I'm kind of lying, but I did win MVP, and that's what that is.

Yeah, I'm looking at man, look at you.

What do you got, Peter.

I've just a long time fan of yours.

Obviously you started off in Austin and now you're in Nashville, and it kind of coincides with this Nashville push where everyone's living in Nashville. And this year alone, we've done a feature on jelly Roll talking to the Titans. We know THEO Vaughn is representing that city and partying with Nate Bergatzi at Vanderbilt. Like, what's the football world like in Nashville, as the Titans aren't exactly a great team, but there are so many football enthusiasts around the NFL living there.

It sucks. The Titans suck. I'll just be honest.

The Titans suck.

That's why they got the first pick. They're terrible.

Their colors look slow. It's weird the colors or even slow. But even our colors look slow. So everything about the Titans is an absolute disaster.

Derrick Henry Goes has a great seat. It's all. It's a mess. We have the number one pick.

I'm sure somehow we're gonna trade the for like a Babe Ruth from the Red Sox to the Yankees for like a Broadway play.

Like that's what I expect us to do.

We're gonna we're gonna trade our best pick for a Broadway play or something. So no, it's a disaster and nobody wants to go to the games because it's cold. But we're building a new stadium, and yeah, well.

That's all we have to hang our hat on.

Bobby, would you would you accept Wicked for the number one overall pick?

Straight up? Would you do that? The Broadway play?

It would take Wicked the touring production.

Like that's like the secondary like like the JV of the Wicked Stars, Like I would take that because because it's a disaster here. It sucks to lose, and it sucks to lose consistently with no hope. So I'm hoping. Listen, Well, what are we gonna do? Go get Kirk Cousins. We have the number one pick. We need like twenty four positions and they're only twenty two, so we need something.

We need to trade down.

We need to have picks for like ten years and then cross our fingers.

All right, you also need a new You need a new GM. You need someone to run the ship there. Your friend, you just said, Dion Sanders, not that he would be the GM, but do you consult with him on where you think he might be a good coaching candidate at the next level.

Yeah, I messaged him and said, hey, take that cowboy job. You know McCarthy's out, so let's go. Because all my friends are Cowboys fans, and I've been lucky enough to like hang out with Jerry Jones a little bit. But if I know the coach too, you're not good at seats, I would get regularly awesome. I think the thing about Coach Prime is that he wants his sons to play with him, right, and so the Cowboys got to figure out a way to trade up to.

Get that to happen. But I hope he takes the Cowboys job.

Cool.

He might and he may just come to that Bobby. And the thing is, once you figure out what you've done as a fan, like, oh, he's radio podcasting produces, You've also not only been on Dancing with the Stars. You won the whole damn thing. You won Dancing with the Stars. You beat DeMarcus Ware, a former Cowboy and incredible athlete.

How did you do that well?

I would say that DeMarcus Ware and I did really well together because we trained together a lot of the days and he is a large man.

It was only when I would.

Get really close with DeMarcus that I would hate having to be a quarterback and having a guy like that bearing down on me. Uh yeah, DeMarcus, he got kicked off earlier.

I won the show.

I can't dance, There's nothing about me that can dance, but I was able to grind it out. I won, And one of my favorite things was DeMarcus came back and got in my final dance, and he's such a strong man, beautiful man, too strong and beautiful Corges, and he held me above his head and my dance just like this, like I was just a bag of potatoes. And so yeah, being the champ is fun, but like having the friendships like DeMarcus is pretty cool, Bobby.

I would assume descriptions like that and stories like that are other things you can find on lots. To say, your new podcast is Matt Castle. It's not just talking to athletes about what goes on on the field, it's inspecting and telling stories off the field as well. What else are we looking at with your new pod?

Well, what's funny is some people actually think I'm kind of famous, which I'm not. I'm like moderately known in rural areas. But occasionally people will think that guy's cool. So we get like big celebrities onto, especially the talk about football. Tim McGraw was on, Parker McCollum was on. But Matt Castle, who is like the quirkiest dude. I love this dude. It's you know, I remember him when Brady goes down and he goes in and wins eleven games and so I didn't really know him, and he lives in Nashville, and so we start to be friends.

And I feel like God.

Had two buckets, okay, and there were these two buckets, and he was supposed to put equal amount in each looks, athleticism, height, intelligence like you and Matt's bucket, and then remember there was just a little bit for me.

So that's the annoying part.

About that, because like, dude played college baseball because he was bored in college. So it's really fun Matt Castle relationship. He's a great dude, but he just was given too many talents. And I'm a little jealous.

Bobby. I love that you have your books out in front of you.

Can I suggest the title to your next book and just you just shared it, and I think I have the idea moderately known in rural areas.

I like that with Bobby both. It's Perfectobby.

Thank you. I have to put that obviously, Bobby.

You're awesome. Thanks for coming on gmtbot. We appreciate you.

A good job.

You come back on first, you can say it on the pod. Lots to say, but then come on when you find out where Prime is going to coach.

All right, you got it, and I would like to beg everybody please listen because we're going to get fired tomorrow. We don't have ten thousand new subscribers. Thank you, bye doing it.
