Good Welcome to Good Morning Football sponsored by Old Trapper Beef Jerky.
We are live here in Los.
Angeles A Tuesday, October twenty second. I am Surery verse alongside ochbarg about to be a milla if Isaiah stand back, joining us at the table and always in the perfect fit. I must add Kyle four Tuesday, haven't few Lee blocked?
There are two games wrapping up Week seven by block. Here we go get started, all right, where are we going?
We are big Wine two, the State of.
DA. That's where actually Lamar Jackson is from, and he is there and Baker Mayfield are both number one over, not number one over. Pick's been the same first round twenty eighteen Josh Allen, Sam Darnald, my god, Josh Rosen forty one to thirty one. The Bucks lose both receivers, but more importantly, the Ravens get the five and two and put up four one points. We're in here from Lamar. We're in here from the Bucks head coach Todd Bowles take it away.
Our mind is just focus on the drive, focus on the play, and just go from there to put points on the board. But we don't really look at it like we or were clicking and we got them. Like it's like we got to score each and every time we got there. I'm chasing something right now, So each and every game is gonna be the same thing for me, Like I'm gonna be the same person every game. I'm trying to win.
And we don't second guest. So we got our guys. We're playing everybody we got and so unfortunately got hurt and we feel bad about that. But he's a football player and he wanted to be in the game, just like Baker and everybody else wanted to be in the game.
But you have an allegation of protect your players from themselves.
To protect my players all the time. That has nothing to do with While we left them in the ball game, we still had a shout to score some points and win the ball game.
It happened.
It happens in football.
We have some pretty serious injuries in that game. We do want to get the latest from around the league with our NFL Network insider Tom Pellisero.
Now, Tom watching some of the.
Highlights, it was just makes your stomach turn. And on top of that, it was a devastating loss for the Buccaneers. But as you mentioned, they're losing two top wide receivers, Mike Evans Chris Godwin tell us more.
Well, Sherry, Let's start out with Mike Evans, who was dealing with a hamstring injury going into this game, barely practiced last week, was a limited participant on Saturday, was off the injury report of good to go. But you could plainly tell, even on the touchdown he score early in that game, that Mike Evans was not quite himself. He goes down on that play that you're watching right there with what certainly looked to be a very, very painful hamstring injury. I am told he has an MRI this morning that will give them a better idea of how much time Mike Evans potentially could miss, though again watching him limp to the locker room, an extremely tough dude, but hard to imagine that he's back here in the short term. As for Chris Godwin, I am told he also has an MRI scheduled this morning for that dislocated ankle that he suffered on the play in the final minute last night. Surgery is expected for that injury. Chris Godwin quite possibly lost for the season for a Tampa team that has been a top that division throughout the.
Course of this season.
Sherry certainly two significant losses, one probably longer than the other. At this point, Trey deadline is two weeks from today, and Tampa certainly could be in that mix to find some help a wide receiver.
Certainly some heartbreak there. Tom definitely keep us updated on any of the latest.
Of those results.
We appreciate you.
Now, Lamar Jackson and Derek Henry, they still put on a show last night at Ravens. Let's have this discussion. Baltimore just rolling. Do you remember when they were zero in too, I don't know.
Five straight wins now if.
You can believe it, and they look in like Super Bowl contenders up bar for you, What did you see that really stood out when you watch this game?
Well, I think, first off, you know, Tampa Bay they started off hot. I mean they went out there score on that opening drive, was able to put down you know, like kind of the law, Like, all right, if we're going to stay in this game, we have to make sure we stay up on them. Put the pressure on the Baltimore Ravens. But once they allowed on's just start making mistakes and interceptions. It was just way too hard I was overwhelmed watching the powerhouse of this Baltimore Ravens offense.
It's overwhelming when you.
Have Dereck Henry who can stretch out and stretch the defense horizontally like they were getting stretched horizontally, and then boom, you have likely and Andrews that you can use.
As your tight ends.
Then you have these wide receivers that can do just about anything and everything, especially with gadget plays or whatever it is that.
You want to do it.
Then Lamar Jackson, Lamar Jackson's uses go anywhere, like he's scrambling and making on critical plays, going out there and just stretching and getting it.
Down the field.
We saw that beautiful ball in the highlight, you know, to Bateman, I mean that just speaks to you. He's not only a strong runner, he's a strong thrower. I just wouldn't want to see this as if I'm a defensive coordinator. I don't want a game plan about this. That's the one I'm calling out sick. It's all it's like, hey, you know what, uh head coach, I'm all right, okay, I'm not I'm not feeling.
You're gonna make it in You got that thing you know what, won't you guys do this? And I'm gonna come.
Well, we got the Ravens though, we need you.
You know they got that Andrews and that likely.
Yeah, you know they got that like Lamar, Yeah, I'm not feeling good.
Okay, all right, You're just gonna let the rest of us hang out the drive.
We got the Ravens. What are we doing? Listen.
Baltimore is the most balanced offense in the AFC, hands down and maybe in the NFL. When you look at what these guys have. They have a two headed monster receiver. Okay, they got Zave Flowers obviously, and they have Bateman.
Okay.
You look at the tight end position, they got Andrews unlikely. You look at the running back position, okay, they got Derek Herey and they got the boy. Hell, these boys are nice upfront and by the way, they do by the name of Lamar Jackson. If you have to deal with as well, these guys are take care of business.
Let's talk. Look at the passing game, okay.
Lamar Jackson is number one in the league in terms of QB rating one hundred and seventeen point nine. He is third in the league in terms of passing touchdowns fifteen to downs two interceptions, fifth in the league, and passing yards in the sixty nine percent completion.
That's just the past. Now let's go ad and go to the running game.
First in rushing yards fourteen hundred and seventy one, first in Russian attempts two thirty nine, first and yards per carry six point two and fourth in the league in terms of Russian touchdowns with ten. These guys are unstoppable offensively. You can't handle them in a run. You can't handle them in the past. You have to respect the run, so then you have speed on the outside. But if you sit back and take care of the deep ball, then you got to deal with the run.
This is not the team that you want to face.
I said it last week when we talked about the AFC Division hand City versus Baltimore. This is a Baltimore team you don't want to deal with.
How did this team lose to the Raiders? Like what happened back then? They lost the Gardner Minshew, I'm tinking it happened.
You remember that those are Davante Adams pass interference towards the end of the game that set them up to win.
Devanta Adams used to be a Raider, right I remember, yeah, yeah, you know what, I'll answer that question.
They overlook the Raiders, overlooking, and that's why, when you're intoxicated by your own greatness, it's so easy to overlook the opponent.
Well, I mean, they blew that game, but they just blew the doors off Tampa. Forty one to thirty one is what you're seeing. Tampa got an on site kick at the end, there was his garbage time points. This game was over. I mean, they absolutely rolled over on him. It's one thing to have Henry and do his Henry thing, and Lamar the thing we've usually seen from Lamar. It's tough enough. He is playing so well right now as a pure passer. I've never seen Lamar play this well as a passer. Just he threw five touchdowns last night. We're all caught up in the Bucks interests, but I've been talking about it. This is the most games with five plus touchdown passes. Now. I don't see Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, Brad even Roethlsberger doing the other things Lamar can do. So when he's doing he's got more than them. Peyton Mann, Tom Brady five touchdown pass games. Lamar is looking down on them. Those are pure pocket guys. Maybe with the accept of roethlisbergerhos a scrambler. When he's doing that type of stuff, like, forget about it. You're not keeping them under thirty. You're probably not keeping the number forty. He's done this before, He's had five touchdown games. It's the Henry thing. It's the combination of the two of them. He was even out there Lamar blocking lest you see like either of five touchdowns. Oh watch this Henry and my tu hundred and fifty point. I'll throw a block, I run four to three. He looks so good. And it's not just that he has Henry now, it's that he's playing his best game himself. I think he's playing better he did last year. Was MVP, I really do, especially as a passer. You noticed all these highlights. We're not seeing Lamar scramble, breaking ankles. He's sailing beautiful touchdown passes. This is a fantastic team right now, it's week seven, whatever the hell it is. We're not crying them super Bowl champs and the MVP thing like we've seen co MVPs.
I saw Steve.
McNair split it with Peyton Manny ones. Have we ever seen co VP's on the same damn team, because these are the two front runners. In my mind, it's Garrett goff is hovering, It's Lamar, and it's Derrick Henry. My only thing with Henry, he's on pace for a lot of touches. And I know hardball is not as not dumb coach. He's been around this thing before. We gotta tape of that back a little bit because I don't need him at thirty years old having over three hundred touches, and I think they will, but right now it is hot Knie through butter. It's so fun to one.
I will just say this, you know, I just saw the fascinating piece on how he takes care of his body.
This is a lot job.
By Dak Henry.
He does it.
He's praised.
Eric Henry does all of this stuff, some of the stuff in the same vein of how Lebron James takes care of his body. But you look at what he's doing at thirty years old, and this number is staggering right here. Look at this because thirty years old and he is putting up Look at averaging one hundred and twenty four.
Yards per rus at thirty plus at.
The age of thirty plus, And these are some of the elite names that we've seen. You remember Priest Holmes in two thousand and four, I know, I surely remember that Priest Holmes on me going off, Corey Dillon Curtismore, the great Walter Payton t.
Is has always looked at as the modern standard of guys over thirty who had amazing football. And he's looking down on tknut. That's pretty cool.
Yeah, this is this is breaking all rules when it comes to how you great a player.
I actually think he can handle.
Litd maybe just a little bit down back, but I think he can handle the load at thirty.
The problem is now and this season as well as good as it may go, and how many games they win and they score forty against it's like about two games in January. It always is for Lamar, like is he gonna win that title game? Is he gonna win the Division round game? I want Derek Henry fresh and surpry for those games. The Ravens have not reached this point where it's like the Cowboys used to be. It's like, we know you're gonna be great in the regas, and we know you have a great coach, a great quarterback. All I care about is fast forwarding to the end of the movie and see how it ends. And it usually doesn't end well. I mean it really doesn't. So is this year different?
We have to wait.
I was there for the AFC Championship game. I can tell you the feeling at M and T Bank Stadium when they just seemingly couldn't get the run game going, the ball flies out the end zone from Zay Flowers having a touchback.
It was heartbreaking.
That's not even it though.
Yeah, I mean there was just such high expectation Lamar talking about this is their year. They were just so close, and I think about it. To your point, Kyle, two, they could have beaten the Raiders. How big is Isaiah Likely's toe that they could have beaten the Chiefs. I want another rematch of Chiefs and Ravens somewhere we very well.
Make get it.
I would love to see that.
The problem was, it was a really emotional day that lost to Kansas City. I don't think it was surprising, and I would be shocked even if M and T if they were surprised because this is how they are now, amazing regular season team, and then he usually come up short. And I hate that. I hate to say that a day after they just had a huge win. But let's talk real here, like we got some playoff games to win the season. We know you're gonna win eleven twelve, thirteen games. Let's see what happens.
Yeah, that was only one of two games on the night. Let's hit to the Desert Chargers Cardinals another winner.
Just see this one. I love these teams. There's Kyler. We're getting really close, guys. New Call of Duty games coming out in like a week. The Call of Duty Bowl is going to happen. He's got the Dolphins. After the game comes out, we'll get to that next week. Seventeen fifteen. Not the most beautiful game I've ever seen, but they win Cardinals at home, Stay alive. James Connor was really good, really tough walk.
Off, and we're seeing Kyler's numbers. They're not an incredible night. He needs an incredible places. But for you, Isaiah, when you're watching this one, what's it out to you?
Yeah?
I mean they did not have a great game statistically for the Cardinals, right, they only score seventeen points. It's not what you want to see Kyler Murray hill one touchdown through the air here at one on the ground himself. But the reality is he made plays when he needed to.
We just saw it.
Obviously the Russian touchdown he had that was at a big moment in the game. He utilized his abilities, right. A lot of people lean on him to do that all the time. This year he's kind of pulled back a little bit. He's pulled back in a little bit and he's saying I would use this when needed, right, great glass scenario. But the thing is James Connor, that dude balances out this offense right now, regardless how many points they may or may not be scoring. When James Connor could have nineteen touches for one hundred and one yards, No, he didn't make it in the end zone, but that will beat down a defense that consistency offensively in the backfield and then match that up with Kyler Murray his ability to be a dual threat. That's a dangerous Danie combo.
Yeah, I thought James Connor was the hero of this game. The one hundred and one yards and just balled out But to me, on the other side, the defense, the defense played very very well shutting down this team.
They out physical them.
You see here the offense side, they outphysical them in the offense. On defense, they outphysical them. Like you look at this team that's supposed to be predicated on being tough. That's a job Jim Harball type football. They were averaging two point seven yards per game in this I mean to me, like just the force that they use they shut down Like you look at Disteley in a Maconkey. I think they averaged a thirteen between the two them, one hundred and twenty seven yards. They really played well defensively.
Remember you asked me if I'm jumping off that Cardinals train.
Yeah.
Never.
Never.
From my cold dead hands, my Cardinals. Everybody else can have the Steelers and Cowboys and the big market teams. I roll with these Arizona Cardinals. They will find a way to nine and eight, three and four. We needed that one last night.
Man. I can't.
I don't know if I can follow them at two and five. It's tough.
You brought into we.
Factors I've been we in the Cardinals in July. I am full we on the Cardinals. We won last night. We need to keep that's right. We can get we can get to nine and eight. A man, we need that one.
Last week A brand Cardinals jersey and I'm in I love the Cards.
Ray Davis into the game and he's gonna get to handle punching in.
Side, gets out of a tackle down to the ten to the five.
As Holiday from into the episode, Hooray the File.
David into the zone for a fifteen yard touchdown run.
They can't bring him down ever, like a bowling ball.
Out there breaks what four tackles on the play, just icing that defense up.
That's the way you finish off the game there.
They can't bring him down ever, but we got him. He has seven games into his NFL career and he is on his way to start him from the Buffalo Bills looking running.
Back great days. Look at you.
You're there, you got that big Bills logo behind you. You got a smile on your face, and so do we to talk to you?
Let's just get into it.
I said, it's seven years into your career, you're you're baby still, but you're crushing people.
What's it like?
How do you feel right now?
You know it's definitely surreal, but it's crazy at the same time.
You know, coming in every day in the building.
Is kind of realizing your NFL player has been in a long journey for me, you know, throughout high school, throughout college just to get here. You know, different schools, you know, different path through doors to just make it here. So every day I continue to be blessed. I get you to thank God, but honest, you just think the Bills are giving me the opportunity to achieve a dream that I've had for a long time.
And they're thanking you too, and so are the fans. You mentioned the long journey. I want to make sure people nationally know about this for those who don't. You overcame a lot, a lot of adversity in the way NFL, including you were.
In foster care.
There was homelessness before getting recruited to play ball at Temple, where you tweeted this in twenty twenty. This is a tweet that we have. We want to make sure that we show with people. I will make it. Promise you. I promise you that, and you got the draft hashtag. Just a few years later, you hear your name called at the NFL Draft. Listen to this.
With the one hundred and twenty eighth pick in the twenty twenty four NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills select Ray Davis, running back in Kentucky, Go Bell.
And it happened, and you willed it to happen. What was it like that very moment? Take us back there you are, what's going on in this room? What's going on in your head? In your heart?
Yeah? You know, out my family there. That was something that was always big to me.
To be able to have my supporting cast, the people who've been there throughout the years, who've seen the journey, who've seen the ups and who've seen the down so.
I was very happy for them to kind of be a part of it.
But to get my name called and get that phone call again, it was it was crazy.
I blacked out in a way because you couldn't believe it. You couldn't believe.
I mean, everybody as a kid, you know, pray and hope to get that call. So for me, it was about just automatically getting getting getting that phone call over with getting the work and just getting ready to prove the world again that I can be who I say I am.
You know, Ray, you know reading your story and just you know, after your big game, you know, almost five yards to carry against the Jets, and I just I just wanted to keep saying your name, man, just putting it out there so people understood just what you've overcome in your life. I guess my question to you is how did you get to a place where you don't have like this victim mindset? Because there was so much that happened to you in your childhood that frankly no kids should have to endure. But yet you somehow you've endured. Like, how do you not have this victimization mindset? And how do you move forward? And how'd you get to where you are today?
Yeah?
You know, I think for me it was about at the end of the day, you know, everybody goes through adversity, to everybody face the challenges that you know, they feel like they can or cannot overcome. And I understood the position I was in that if I were to give up, who would be an advocate for kids, who would be a spokesman, who could be a mentor, who could be a role model. And I felt that that was at the age of twelve and at the age of fourteen fifteen, So forth on that I was going to have to be that role model. I was willing to take the lead and to show everybody that there is a way. You know, there is a possibility to achieve you that you want. You know, it may not be the most easiest ride, but the end of the day, it's going to It might be a lot of bumps and bruises, but you know you'll make it there.
You'll get there.
So I just kind of kept putting my head down and understanding every adversary that came towards me. I got to face it. You know, there's no run away. You know, if I ran away, I wouldn't be here today. I wouldn't be able to have this for It's this platform and just the ability to showcase a new world where no matter who tells you you can't make it, if you live by what you believe in, you know you will achieve any anything that you want to achieve and feel like anything's possible. And that's just been me throughout my years is every time somebody tell me I couldn't do something, I turned around and showed them that I could do it, and I could do it at a high level.
I love everything about that ray Man. Often our life experience is really contribute to the ethos of who we are as individuals. So how does your experiences that you've had feel you on and off the field?
Effuse me a lot?
You know, you got to think about the people that who've been there in my life, who's helped me be the person I am today from you know, being a part of the Big Brothers, Big Stitues of America. You know, having my teachers who who took me in and just my supporting cast.
I knew constantly that in order for me to be where I'm at, they sacrifice so much.
So if I were just to give up and not give it one hundred and ten percent every time I step on our field, I'm only doing this wrong.
I'm only doing them a disservice.
So understanding that so many people put me in a position to be why I am today, So why not go and put it all on the field to give back to what they have done for me.
Rady's getting to know you this morning.
You're just so easy to roof for particularly hearing your story and just all you've come to to be now in that Buffalo Bill's building, and we know Bill's fan base notoriously just one of the top tier in the league.
Just how have you felt like they've embraced you? And what's it like going around town?
Are getting noticed when you go grocery shop and get coffee something like that?
Hey, well, I'll correct you right there.
We have the best fan base, the best. We have the best fan base in the entire world. Bill's mafia is crazy. I I have said it before. They love seeing special people, and we got special guys on this field. So you know, just to see them day in and day out, coming in there and providing that spark and energy for us, it has definitely been been amazing. But no, luckily I have not you know, Luckily, I can still go grocery shopping and do the things I want to be able to do.
I still go to Chipotle on the daily.
So until until that stops, I will keep going to Chipotle every single day.
Until someone knows, Okay.
You a barbacoa guy, give us the deeds.
Come on, you know I'm shaking. Get double riot corn.
I can't.
I can't put out the secret recipe to everybody.
Can't do it.
Hey, I got Martha, He's a rookie contract. Don't pay extra for waksive.
It's expensive.
You know.
They say that the best of us must help.
The rest of us.
And you mentioned earlier your teacher, mister Claus ben Claus. You asked him, uh, if you could just stay with him a couple of nights, and that turned into three years.
He was there for you. Now you're paying get forward.
Ray, tell us about the Big Brothers Big Sisters mission and why it's important to you.
Yeah, you know Big Brothers Pictures of America that that's super important. I met Patrick Galley at the age of eight, and he has been a part of my life all the way up until now. You know, his boys or like my nephews, and just to see our journey together. He's really the main reason why I got into some of the things that I love. I love baseball, you know, I love the arcade games.
I love just again proving people wrong. And he was a guy who always challenged me in middle school. If you can get a three point zero, I'll get you a video game or you know, I'll get you this. So it was always something that was fun to be challenged.
But kind of being around Patrick, he taught me how to be a man at a young age in the sense of having those apart having those hardship talks, you know, he understood what I went through in life and even though he couldn't relate, but he still was a voice and an advocate for me to continue to just showcase the best person I could be.
So Big Brothers and Bigtures of America.
Played a huge impact of my life, and that's something I want to continue to give back and advocate for.
To tell a lot of people to get involved.
You never understand that you know, one, one voice, one action that you do towards you know an individual could really make a change. And you know, like you said, just it's not just about one Person's.
About bringing everybody with you.
And if I can be able to bring everybody on this journey, that's all that matters.
I think we're all on board. Ray.
We love everything you were doing on and off the field. Thank you so much, Gray Davis of the Buffalo Bills.
Come back anytime you want.
We would love to have you back at the breakfast table. Stay healthy and good luck.
Let's go right day everybody.
You can be best fan base in the NFL. Of course, you got me I like that. How can you not cheer?
Look at it? Hold up? You need more people.
Seque Barkley one Angry Runs a couple of segments ago. Now you can get into Madden NFL twenty five and you dominate with Saquon and Ultimate Team starting tomorrow, number twenty six.
We would be boosted.
He's boosted with anger.
With power.
We have this amazing relationship with the A Sports and Madden, and they jack up their numbers when we crown them the scepter winner.
Play with.
Record your runs, send them to us and we may choose yours to break down on the on the show like live on the NFL network. If you have Saquon and you decide to do what he did to the Giants, send us the play. We will break it down and we absolutely love it. I'm still getting over this one, so is Isaiah. It's so good.
That was a choice.
Violence didn't choose him, He chose violence.
He chose violence, all right.
Well, being here Kyle getting to see Angry Runs, we're lucky, no fortunate to get to see it in person. No question, would you ever consider wearing like a monitor or something to measure your heart rate that we can see this. This is a request we just got Rhiannon we see you.
We want to know if you can wear like a heart monitor so we can see.
I would do that, sure, height I had to go to the oxygen mask last week. I do have a cardiologist that I consult with. The segment is insured, but yeah, I would do that. That might be fun, like a real life like next gen stats.
Yeah, like we have it on the upper top level and we get to see it, you know.
What I mean.
You guys want to be alarmed when it never comes down. It's only there, and I mean before the segments. It's up. Now I'm like Hannibal Elector my pulse never moves. It's fine. So we've been a great, great year of Anger Run so far. Honestly really excited. This one was a fantastic one. But you guys sit around and watch while I'm screaming and doing my thing.
Is there any angry Runner.
That we've seen yet this year that you have particularly enjoyed?
Ocbar heard you like I have to go to say Kwon Barkley not just from that game and just you know, watching him just running over the New York Giants, but just too like just what he's done already for this offense and the just the infusion that he puts into this offense. We talked about that quad push, the quad squad. This dude is just showing everything that his value. I think there's a little concern and doubt coming in, like we thought, what kind of Saquon Barkle he has been nasty?
I saya, listen, I'm going straight with dear Henry darre Henry is an absolute dog. I mean, you talk about what he's doing out there in Baltimore. Just we know his physicality, we know his history, but what he's doing this year for Baltimore and adding to that office absolutely everything he just disrespected.
Anybody gets in his way.
He is the one player in his lead that nobody wants to get in front of Burus.
What do you think?
I agree? I'm going to co sign Derrick Henry. He's three plus. We said he's getting faster, he's getting stronger.
These things should not happen as you age as a running back.
Six scepters seems fitting in Derick Henry.
He's the all time legend. This year's star has been this gentleman right over here. David Montgomery the Detroit Lions. If I can get the camera on David Montgomery. He has two scepters in six weeks. Fantastic David Montgomery. Here, finally this guy. This has been the face. But I'll tell you I like Tank pigs Me on the Jaguars is playing on a losing team right now and still destroying. I like him and the one in waiting, the one I know is going to happen. Tucker Kraft on the Packers is doing nasty things. I like when tight ends, when anger runs. We've seen kiddo win a bunch over the years. Tucker Craft, I got my eye on you. I want you to get one of these things.
That's guy.
Honorable mention though, to Austin Eckler when he jumped up in the air and just knows this.
Talk about this right, who's your favorite angry runner?
You win perfect
