Good Morning Football.
Indeed, it's a good morning to talk about football as always live here in Los Angeles and New York City. It's football coast to coast. It's Thursday, October seventeen, the head of week seven. That's off bar Boxer via Milla, Peter Schrager and Kyle Brant. They're holding it down to New York. I'm Jamie art All. You're going to see a lot of purple across our network today Sunday, ahead of pretty good slated games. We have a lot of eyeballs on Vikings Lions, Minnesota. SIT's five and zero, Detroit is four and one. And to say that we are a little bit looking forward to it. Peter, why is this game so fun beyond the records?
Because we're looking at a Lions team that's coming off one of the most destroying victories we've seen all season. Then they not only just beat the Cowboys in Dallas, they embarrassed Dallas, and they pummeled them and did trick plays and dance and put pixie dust all over them and said, yeah, you'll never forget about us.
This is a one sided game.
Meanwhile, the team that's undefeated was home kicking back on their couch watching it all go down, licking their chops for their opportunity to play against them. These are two of the best teams in football, not just the NFC North, not just the NFC. These could be one and two on the power rankings if you're going across the Hire lead. So there is no under building up, there is no understatement of how excited we are. This is legitimate and this is the first time they're going to play. They're going to play again, and it's this chess match between two really really clever, clever coaching staffs. I can't wait for it, and I think the loss of Aiden Hutchinson changes things significantly from the Lions side, But the Vikings come in with a ton of injuries too, so.
They're all walking in a little bit wounded.
I can't wait for this game, and I have certainly cannot wait to see the game plans that are being rolled out.
It's this cool time warp thing too. It's one of those hypotheticals if you were to go back three years and be like man, the game of the week is the Jared Goff Odians versus.
The Sam Donald Vikings. It doesn't compute at all.
We'd have no concept to the football fan brain that that journey could go that place. Peter just said that these are maybe the two best teams the NFL, and those two best teams are led by Sam Darnold. I also think and Jared Goff. The Vikings had like no hype before the season. They really didn't. You know, Jamie was into them, and Jamie has a native thing, and we totally get that, but there were very few people who would have thought Man two and three might be a win after five five and oh, and it's not two and oh, it is not three and oh. Five and oh is totally wildly different. I've said this for weeks. I think they're the best team in the NFL and they may be going up against the toughest team in the NFL.
Is a great matchup.
Yeah, I totally agree with you with the matchup as it being two of the best teams in the NFL, especially on the NFC side. You know, but there's something else that look at this, and you know, I'm a big fan and a lover of redemption stories. Man and both sides have them like it wasn't that long ago where everybody was saying Jared Goff, like you know, people saying sand And it speaks to me the types of coaches we're dealing with and we're looking at and what a good coach can do for players, especially when you think about quarterbacks and what Campbell and what KOC has done for both of these quarterbacks in this situation. And I just love how they're bringing the best out of these guys, and not just for a fluke game.
Or two or three games.
Like these guys are participating at a very high level.
It's gonna be awesome.
Let's talk to one of those coaches that a Bara mentioned, Kevin O'Connell, the head coach of the under period Minnesota.
Yeah this guy, Good morning, coach, what a coach.
Good morning guys.
I've been I've been looking forward to catching up with the crew man.
It's been a long time.
Yes, hell yeah.
We welcoming get into the breakfast table here at KOC.
Listen.
I have to imagine, and Kyle just referenced it, the amount of hype and training camp surrounding your building and your team.
There's one way to coach that you can.
Say, hey, people doubt us, they're not looking at us, But now there is no ignoring you.
Guys.
You sit five and zero.
What's the more challenging thing to coach? Is it avoiding noise at a five and oh team or is it an underappreciated team to start the season?
You know, Jamie, I think for us, I had a lot of confidence in our team from the time we started to see the pieces we added with our.
Returning players in the spring.
I started to feel something that could be unique and cool and a really fun group to coach, with a lot of potential to have a great season. So when we came to training camp, my first meeting with the guys was really not about anything other than I think we're going to be a good football team.
I think we got to go earn it. I think we got to get.
A lot ofcomplished every single day. But if we do that, they're going to be talking about us. Because that was my belief in the team. So when you do it like that, there's really not any noise. That's either not enough people talking about you, or now that we've had a little bit of success here, people seem to think we you know, have something going on here.
The outside noise is just that.
And my hope was the guys would listen to each other and the words that I had for them to try to get them thinking about what was important, which was the guys in our locker room and the fact that we all had confidence we could have success. And that's just kind of how it's happened. It's been a really cool group of guys. And I love my coaching staff, love our players, and we just go to work every day.
Koc Man, First off, you know I say it to you all the time. Now I'm just so genuinely, genuinely happy for you. You know, I look at your career so far. You know, you got to start off hot thirteen and four, start off your first season as a coach, kind of goes down into that seven.
And ten season, and then here we go.
You rehabilitate and you guys are starting off hot five and zero. But particularly you rehab that your player, your quarterback, Sam Darnald. Many of our business would say, you know, we would call Sam Donald, you know, a success surprise, like I can't believe it. Can you tell us why you're not surprised about him? And what his game has been able to do for your team, for your offense, and why is he a perfect fit for your offense?
Yeah, Okbar, I think every quarterback goes on a journey, and you know, I think you guys on this show do a really great job of highlighting the quarterback play throughout the league. And there's so many great players, but all of those guys at that position are on a different path, different journey.
You just never quite know, you know, until you get a chance to coach.
Guys, you never quite know exactly what their truest potential is. And I just remember Acbar seeing Sam in college, seeing him, you know, with all the talent the world, and always thought to myself, I think that guy could play at a really high level in the NFL. We get a chance to coach him this year. He's done everything we've asked of him from day one, you know, put together a heck of a spring, a great training camp.
None of us were surprised.
And you really, talking to a lot of his teammates, they see the talent, they see the makeup, they see what he's able to get done on a daily basis, and then he's just taking that right into right into US Bank or anywhere else we played and put that on display for the whole world to see.
I'm proud of Sam.
I think Sam can keep on getting better and better, and I think there's a lot of great football out in front of him leading our team this year.
Kevin, We're happy man. We're happy to have you on the show. We're happy to see you guys five and zero.
And it's especially great when it's one of these surprising seasons, but you're telling us you had the conviction all along. I will ask you, what's up with the blackout shades behind?
What is that?
I see justin Jefferson run some routes? So what are we doing? What do we open up the shades behind you? I would like to see some practice here, but I got it is.
It's a beautiful view out to our practice fields.
The only problem is when I get together with the fellas to put together a little game planning right about you know, sundown, that thing shines in here with the fires and you know what I've got between looking at my computer screen, my television, or I'll tell you what you know, maybe a late night rerun of Good Morning Football.
You know, I got to.
The glare is not, you know, too bad, So I apologize for that. I promise you We've got beautiful facility in all the NFL, and I would love to show you those practice fields.
But yeah, the down this morning.
It's a sleek looking office.
Peter looks way better than the face.
Sorry.
Has cool slogans though, Yeah, well dominate, yeah, everybody hustle.
Yeah.
I haven't seen his new one yet, but I can tell you they need those slogans because those concrete walls they had to hide, they had to hide them things. I spent a lot of time in that bunker with Sean, so I know you did.
Hey, speaking of in the bunker, I don't know where you spent your bye week, but I'm watching this Lions offense in the Dallas and they're doing trick plays and they're throwing it to lineman.
And Ben Johnson's winking at the camera and it's like, I don't know.
If this was a message for Dallas or if this was a message for Minnesota, and hey, you got to prepare for this. Where did you watch that Cowboys Lions game?
And just how.
Different was that kind of offensive game plan in a week six game showing all the bells and whistles that Detroit did on film.
Yeah, I watched.
I watched it at home with my two boys, Caden and Colton, and they kept on saying, man, that was a cool play, Dad, Man, that was a cool play.
Dad.
I saw the same thing everybody else did. But make no mistake about it, Detroit has been. They've what you know, what they were on Sunday is what they've been, which is a highly highly coached, very talented offensive team, and really it's their whole football team, guys. They're really well coached. AG does a great job on the defensive side. I think Ben is, you know, a phenomenal coordinator, great play caller, but it's one thing to call plays, but that.
Group is really well coached.
Their execution, the detail that you see come out on tape.
It's a really good football team.
And we've got to play really well in all three phases to have a chance to.
Win the game. It's going to be awesome to be at home.
Our home crowd has been phenomenal for us this year, and we want to play well again in front of them, and we're going to need to to try to have a chance to win this game.
We can't wait to watch this game. We really are genuinely excited. It's the best game of the week. Everyone's going to be watching. But I'm going to go off script for you here, Coach, I have something. I have so much respect for your career as a player and a coach. You've just seen it all, and you have so many interesting relationships.
I'm going to give you a hypothetic.
All right, you were at a very very fancy steakhouse having dinner, and there's steaks, and there's bottles of wine, and it's a huge bill. The bill comes at the end of the meal. Here are the people at the table with you. You're there with Kirk Cousins, Rex, Ryan, Sean McVay, and Tom Brady.
Who is reaching for the check first?
Oh well, I can promise you it's not going to be me. I know, you know, I would say I would. I would like to you know, I can tell you this much, Kyle, I got a distinct order of who's reaching for that bill.
But I care about all those every every one of those folks you just mentioned.
Good answer.
I think the best answer is I probably wouldn't even have brought my wallet to that dinner.
Yeah, that would have been.
That would have been the expectation. But I would have ordered myself something nice. I promise you that I would have been drinking, you know, probably very nice wine that I definitely did not order.
It would have been a phenomenal And.
I can tell you I do all know, I do know all those folks, and that meal has never taken place before. But that might be one for one for the ages. If we got that group together, I.
Gotta do it.
The best part is that Cousins would pay for the check, but you pay with a gift card that he had. We got to make that meal happen, all right, listen, coach, Not only are we very excited to have you on before the best game of the week.
Apparently you come bearing gifts.
I heard that you have a surprise and I would like to give you the floor to present it.
I got nothing but love for you, Kyle Akbar Peters, my guy. But you know, Jamie, obviously you hold a special place within this building. As you know, as a Minnesotan and a former resident of the Twin Cities. We figured what better time to bring you back home than when we play the Indianapolis Colts.
I know you know a lot.
About our culture, our great environment at US Bank Stadium, but how about coming out to sound our galler horn?
Nothing, you know, what do you think?
That's amazing? Coach?
Oh my gosh, thank you.
Thank you, coach.
Oh my gosh, I don't thank you.
I can't wait. When is the game.
We uh, it's it's a couple of weeks away.
We play obviously the Lions, and we head out to play the Rams, you know, hopefully not in shown bunker office, and then then we'll host the Colts.
So, oh my gosh, I'd love to have you. It would be phenomenal.
And I just want to say, there was a lot to unpack with your conversation with TP as a as a now third your resident of Minnesota, there's a lot to impact there for me.
Yeah.
Well, when we hopefully share a good bottle of wine someday, I will give you all the insights to where not to live, not to send your kids to school. I got all the takes apparently for the state of Minnesota. I am so honored and Florida and speechless, and I really have nothing to say. I am so greekful, thank you. I love the state of Minnesota. So much, coach.
Thank you.
Wow, I get this is so good.
Yeah, guys, thank you for having me this weekend.
Coach.
Coach, Oh my god, good luck.
Football.
Hey, we're back on Good Morning Football.
Mike.
You're a folo joining us now ahead of Thursday Night football. Some states wide receivers that they would like to use in their offense tonight, Mike, Ga, they available, they.
Would like to use them.
They're not going to be able to Chris Olave out with a concussion. Not a surprise on a short week there, so as Spencer Ratler takes the field, that is one weapon down and another weapon down in Rashid Shaheed. This is a tough one here because we know how dynamic he has been, both for Rattler and for Derek Carr, the quarterbacks of the Saints. He will undergo miniscus surgery. Head coach Dennis Allen announced yesterday. Now, the length of his recovery is going to be determined by and we've seen this before, what they determined. Once they're in surgery, you can have the trim or you can have the full repair. The full repair is better for the player in the long run, but it is a longer.
Recovery in the short term.
So there is a strong possibility we have seen the last of Rashid Shaheed for the entire twenty twenty four season, which absolutely sucks. But that decision for a speed receiver with his knee, if that is the one that has made.
The best for him for the long term. So good long term news, bad short term news, Peter.
Mike, that's a bummer.
And yet the season goes on and the game will still he played. We appreciate you coming on with us. We do am I going to be on all day long on the network, but we're gonna go to a guy who's going to be all night long on Amazon. We love Thursdays because it means we get to chat with someone from the Prime Video crew. Let's say hello to one of our great analysts, Ryan Fitzpatrick.
What's up, Fits, Hey, guys, how we doing awesome? Mad to see you?
Good to see you ry doing great.
You're returning to the site of one of your best games as a pro.
I don't know if you walk.
Into that building and you're like twenty eighteen, me and Sean Jackson just going absolutely bonkers.
Against this team.
When you're with the Buccaneers four hundred yards, four passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown.
When you first see Sean Payton walk through the.
Door as the Denver Brock, is that the first question you have in preakam? Hey, do you remember me throwing the ball all over?
I may have said to Dennis Allen, Yeah, but it might come up with Drew Brees. Drew Brees is going to be there tonight. He's being honored. One of the things I remember about that game. Every single series was a touchdown, and yet we look up at the scoreboard and Drew Brees just kept scoring and kept scoring and kept scoring.
It was interesting.
Yeah, it was.
It was like all the way to the end, even though we got the forty something points. But that was a fun one for me. But yeah, it's a tough place to play. It's a tough place to come into, you know, and looking forward to the energy and the atmosphere to night with Sean Payton and Drew Brees and you know all the good memories that they had in that building.
You know, Ryan, you played seventeen years in the league. It's a long time, man, a very long time. I want to take you back to your rookie year. I mean, you know, you were a rookie sitting there seventeen eighteen years ago now, and in this game we've got two rookie quarterbacks on display tonight. What do you see when you watch bow Knicks and Spencer Rattler? Is there anything that you would say to them, you know, having gone through that journey yourself, what do you see?
Yeah, I'm really excited about it. I'm really excited to see both of them. I know that Sean Payton was really excited for bow Knicks. You know, it's hard to step into these situations and play right away. And you know, bo Nicks what he showed on so far. I mean, he's got a great ability to scramble, you know, and he's been able to make some plays. I think they want to see a little bit more consistency. I think they want to see him getting the ball out of his hand. You know, maybe a little bit better timing wise and all that. But I'm excited to see him play. And then Spencer Rattler, I'll tell you what, I was really surprised putting on the tape. He didn't look like the moment was too big for him. Clint Kubiak did a great job getting them out of the pocket. It's tough in games. You know, they come back and they get the lead at halftime, but when a game gets away from me like it did and it turns into a drop back fest for any quarterback, but especially for a rookie quarterback, that can be difficult. So keeping the score close Spencer Rattler Arizona Kid, which is always exciting for me. So I'm cheering on both these guys and looking for a good performance for both of them.
Fitz, you're always really self deprecating about your own career and your own play, and it's very endearing. But the one thing you had going for you for sure is that I really do think your teammates loved playing with you. They love playing for you. You are a true leader, and you had all the skills like that. Even in the media to that point. You made an interesting observation about the story of the week where Aaron Rodgers loses the game in national television and specifically call out one of his receivers for running the wrong route.
It point blank you didn't really like it?
Why?
Yeah, it just hurt me because I mean, there's so much you know, and the tweet that I made like Aaron is such a charismatic guy.
He really is. He's endearing to his teammates.
But I just feel like, as the leader of a football team, I want you to put all the blame on me.
I have wide enough shouldiers. I can take it. Everything is my fault.
I want to take it off of my teammates and then we can get into the meeting room and we can work on it and say why is he not in the right spot? What are we doing or what are we coaching, and how can we do it differently so that the expectation of where you need to be and what you need to do is my expectation as well.
And I just.
Feel like the not public humiliation, but the blame and throwing it on your teammates is just not the right way to do it. So that one hurt me and bothered me a little bit. He's obviously, you know, a great player. We're hoping now with DeVante Adams that they start to take off and really get going. But yeah, it's just there's certain things that are hard for me to let go, and that was one of them.
Yeah, I think we appreciate it I'll be honest. I'll be candid here as someone who works in the industry, like a lot of ex players don't ever speak negatively about other ex players and don't ever offer their critiques. You respect his game that instance, though you didn't love it, you seem to live freely and talking about I really appreciate it. I think everyone really appreciates. It's what separates you from others in the game. Has that always been your deal? Where I'm just gonna call it how I see it, and if you got a problem with it, we'll see each other face to face and we'll talk it out.
Now, you know, I'm Peter, I am new to social media, you know, so this is enough.
They were making fun of me with.
Witt and Sherm and the guys and Carissa were making fun of me last night because it's like, you know, they had these experiences fifteen years ago, and for me, this is a whole new world, you know, jumping in and out of comments and you know, some a lot of it is going to be light on social media, but there are some things I think we could have candid, good conversations about, and.
That was one of them.
Yeah, I've enjoyed at least a little bit the Twitter space. I know that they can get out of hand, so I'm carefully treading that space right now.
You're kind of all over the place on Twitter because you said this one, which is I have a young kid. You said your seventeen year old tells you all the time that there are three certainties in life, death, Texas, and Nick Folk under forty yards.
Like you're just tweeting everything as we know me?
What inspired that?
My kids love Nick Folk?
I played with him on two different teams, the Jets and the Bucks, and the dude just doesn't miss.
He doesn't miss.
Well, that's awesome kind of tapping into something that is the heat of social media. It can be a great conversation piece, but also sometimes a feedback a guy can get because of their play or because what they're doing on TV can be a lot.
We've seen a.
Big journey and out of Sam Darnold. It's a lot of stops for him and everything that he has done in his story, I can't imagine maybe sometimes the feedback he got coming out of New York and then he made a couple stops. But now the play that he is putting on the field for the Vikings has to impress you and probably make you proud as a quarterback.
It does, and especially you know, for somebody like me that had such an up and down career, you know, and you know how difficult it is to have expectations put on you and to not meet them. And so for him to come out the other side now and to be playing like he's playing and leading the Vikings, it does.
It makes you smile. You know. I've known Sam probably since his rookie year.
We get to hang out around the Masters every year, and he's a great dude.
You know.
This year he didn't go because he was intent on you know this, He understood how important this season was for him and getting ready and preparing and so yeah, I'm super happy for him, and even having Kevin O'Connell on earlier, what a great guy.
They've got some good mojo going on right now in Minnesota.
You know, vert we talked about it. I started the show with this, it's this Sean Payne come coming. But I've been reading in the local.
New Orleans Press that that didn't exactly end per perfectly, and there might be some awkwardness and a lot of the fans and the organization aren't actually going to welcome him back with open arms, because despite all he did.
The way it ended was so abrupt.
What's your feel on the ground, As we know, Drew Brees is being honor.
Which might be kind of hey look at that as.
Opposed to this, but this whole Sean Peyton LoveFest, it might not necessarily be that way tonight.
What's your feeling having been there in New Orleans for days?
Yeah, you know, we're asking around, we're asking some locals last night at dinner and walking back from dinner to the hotel with al Michael's taking selfies with people and telling them, you know, not to put them on TikTok. And I think, I mean, Alan, I think that it's going to be generally a warm reception. I mean, what he brought to this city, the excitement, all the joy, the super Bowl obviously, and you know, the most prolific offense of that era was pretty awesome. So I think in general it's going to be a warm reception for Sean.
Okay, all right, Fitz, let's let's shift gears here. Two weeks from tonight is Halloween. Okay, you guys have a game on Halloween. We're back at met Life. It's Texans Jets. We'll talk about the game in two weeks. Give us an early forecast. Will the Amazon crew be in costume? What is going to do?
What's Carisa going to do?
What's the talk now?
Yeah, well I'll tell you. Let me start by saying this.
I do a haunted house in Arizona at my place every year.
My kids are furious that I'm not going to be there. I tried to opt out and I couldn't.
So we're going to hold that on Tuesday, so that Fitzpatrick Connon House will be open on Tuesday that week.
We're in deep disc right now. Are we doing a group theme? Are we doing individuals?
Grissa hasn't been real happy with the way it's been going, so we'll see. I just think there's so many things we can do with Andrew Whitworth.
That body type. There's a lot of stuff that's been.
Going on and said about him, but we're working on it.
Trust me, we'll have something good for you guys.
Well, right, would you wait, would you commit like to what whatever it is the theme is? Would you commit to cutting the beer to like really.
Go in on Itwward, Absolutely not.
I can't.
I can't cut the bear.
Okay, yeah, it is a picture Halloween or not. Shout out to thet's ability to audible and move the haunted house.
I appreciate that. As to the neighborhood kids.
Let's do it.
All right.
It is another weekend of the NFL slate where you get to get up at sun up and watch football and finish your night. Hopefully it's on a range lay in overtime and you watch football.
Into the wee hours. We love those kind of days.
And it all starts in London ahead of Patriots Jaguar Steve, which'll be on the call for NFL Network Steve. How are the Patriots doing? We talk Jags last hour? How do they build off of the performance that Drake may had in his first start last week?
Well, Jamie, it is a twenty point loss, but Drake May he threw three touchdowns but turned it over three times.
But overall, head coach Gerard.
Mayo saw too many issues as to.
Where when they land here Friday and take the field Sunday. He said there will be changes in the lineup now. He wasn't specific as to what those changes will be, but we know along the offensive line there could likely be some. They've had a different offensive line for each of their six games, largely due to injury.
That could happen again.
But the key thing, as we mentioned when we started this, is getting Drake may going, and Mayo said they have got to start quicker. They've only had fourteen fourth quarter points out of the gate. Last week they were down two touchdowns against the Texans that force made to throw at thirty three times. They want to run the ball a lot more. Now, will they have Romandre Stevenson back. That's real iffy. He sat out practice Wednesday with a foot injury, so we don't know his status when it comes to running the ball more. They could have some opportunities to get to Jaguars defense that's been here in both the run and pass element.
Okay, enough of that part. Jamie.
As one Minnesota, I'm.
A native North MINNIAPP resident who used to go to games at old met Stadium where now the Mall of America stands. For you to get the opportunity to blow the horn, the envy is absolutely like righteous right now.
So congrats to you.
Thank you, Steve. I really appreciate that I know you know why. I was absolutely shocked and could not contain the emotion. It is a really cool honor for any Minnesota Steve Woisch will put you on the list. Now that I've made a friend, I feel like in Minnesota, I'll say, bring Wishie back and then he should be able to do it too. Thank you, Steve, I really appreciate that. Enjoy London for now, though, my friends. Ahead of the game this weekend, in which we will find a lot of answers between the Jaguars and the Patriots, we're also kind of curious Omar Ruiz about the effect of Fante Adams will have on the Jets.
Yeah, it's going to be a Jet stealers showdown on Sunday. We can't wait for that one. And ask and you shall receive. DeVante Adams requested a trade and got one, reuniting with his buddy Aaron Rodgers on the Jets, and Adams is expected to play Sunday gamegainst the Steelers after missing the past three games with the Raiders with a hamstring injury.
Interesting how that works.
Adams will continue to wear his number seventeen with New York as rookie wide receiver Malachi Corley, who was wearing number seventeen, will switch to number fourteen.
No word on what the numbers.
Swap cost Adams, but Adams did speak to reporters Wednesday about the trade.
It's been a roller coaster, for sure.
It's a weird thing to say, you know that, I'm happy, but you know, obviously it was time for a change, and you know, this whole thing kind of transpired a little a little weird, but it's at the end of the day, you know, we're in a better place. I think that Raiders are in a better place as well, and you know, everybody can kind of move on. But definitely been a roller coaster. Was a little bit up and down and left and right here and there, but we ultimately got it done.
In other news about that game, Steelers running back Najie Harris did not practice on Wednesday as he deals with ribs injury. Harris is coming off the best game of the season against those Raiders week six, went for one hundred and six yards rushing and a touchdown. In Eagles players, including cornerback Hooper dejen along with Swoop and cheerleaders, recently paid a visit to a Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House to play games and spend time with guests receiving pediatric care there. Tuesday mark the fiftieth anniversary of Ronald McDonald House Charities.
And when we come back.
Jamie and the guys will be joined by NFL analyst Nate Tice as he gets into the Big Lions and Viking showdown on Sunday. Don't go anywhere.
Good football all right time now GMFP to bring in. I mean, we are just all Minnesota today, and that's because it's not why the Vikings are unefeated, but it feels like it has some connectivity. Nay tys, what can Happening's happened much?
I know you got the horn playing.
My mouth's watering when I hear that sounds like a first down. Also, Ryan Fitzpatrick just coming on. Who is my Maning Academy counselor back in the day when he's him and Derek Anderson. Yeah, those were my counselors, which also dates me a little bit, but those were my counselors when I was in high school.
So good to see him.
Why we bring you on, Nate? You're able to thread the needle.
You watch the show, you get what we do here.
Let's talk about Brian Flores.
My goodness, he knows what he's doing every Sunday afternoon. He's got that puffer jacket on, that flat brim hat and he's just bringing the heat defensively. How do you think the Lions are going to solve this problem?
Well, Ryan Flores is going to test the fence like a velociraptor.
Like he's going to find your weakness.
Show how you beat the blitz is sound scheme, execution, and a dollop of talent or a lot of dollups of talent. And execution doesn't just mean off into line.
The quarterback.
The running back is important too. David Montgomery is talented, he's smart, and much like David tel Is the Comedians comedian, he's the running.
Backs running back. So this is.
To execute against the blitz, you need the running back to pick up the blitzers and when they do that, you're able to execute the play. And you see here Jared Goff is able to stay clean get a gash play here.
But this is what the Lions do.
Off into line executes and the running back executes over and over again, especially David Montgomery. So that's the first thing you need to do to beat the blitz.
I really appreciate having you on a because I'm not an x's and o's junkie. I know there's a whole sect in the internet and also on TV of let me show you.
How it went down.
And I do love Worlovsky and I love all the stuff he does on the board, but like you bring it down as well for us, and you take it and you make it digestible for the viewer at home. Now everywhere we read and we see, we hear that Penney Sewel is the best, and he's the man, and he's so athletic. But we're not watching the line of scrimmage during the game. You're watching the ball. So you watched the line of scrimmage. Tell us why Penna Sewel is so good and why he might be above even Trent Williams at this point in his career.
Yeah, the line, the Lions offensive line is weekly appointment viewing for me. Tom Brady anointed Penny seol is one of his players of the week, and I think.
It's justifiable here because.
This is I just said, scheme and then talent. This is otherworldly talent, like you could write a great script, but you need sometimes Philip Seymour Hoffman.
To act it.
So in a five man protection like this, the goal is to have to make the longest path to the quarterback. So when a guy blitzes, you can see Penny Sewel here taking the defensive end, seeing the blitzer highs a little alert here, and then lunging on over and wiping out the blitzer to keep Jared Gov safe and they you guys have another guys at once, and you rarely see this. This is one of the best offensive line plays you'll see all year. The last time I saw this in an MPEL game was Tyron Smith, So kind of tells you which guys can execute this type of play. The freaks and Pennae Seowel right now is playing like the best offensive line in football. And because he's able to do that, they're able to beat the blitz. The Lions aren't able to execute against it.
Yeah, you know, there's Taylor deckerl on the other side as well. It's not just blocking though, Ben Johnson. He gives them other tricks that they can use to kind of neutralize some of those blitz in that pressure that we know.
Floores is known for.
What are those I'm going to teach you guys about the cheat account, the cheat cadence, which is not on one. There's no blue eighty here, blue forty. This is like sun Zoo says, it's surprising the enemy. There are no words on this play, and what the Lions do? They scored a touchdown against the Cowboys on this it's a third down. It's the Jamison Williams. You can see it beat him with speed. But what you really know is how quickly that ball gets snapped. A cheat accaydance is when the center grabs the ball and snaps it right away.
There's no words being set and.
So what you're trying to do here is beat the blitz, not let the defense gets set on it. And they just beat them with the execution and down the field and having Jameson Williams run a four to three is pretty good here. But this isn't the only time that the Lions have done this. Literally a year ago in Week six against the Bucks, you can see Frank Ragnol grabbing the ball, snapping it right away. And what's so cool about this play? It's not a one off cadence. This is literally the same formation, same protection, same cadence, same situation, same week of the year from the Lions, and they're going doing this against Todd Bowles last year. This year is Mike Zimmer. But it's another tool that Ben Johnson gives his players. So again, he makes it easy and lets guys get into great winning positions. And when you go against the blitz, that's what you have to do. It's a gash or b gash world. The Lions are able to gash it over and over again.
I was just going to say, I absolutely love that as a former, like as a D linemanman, I can tell you I hate it that those cheetah snouts because you can't get ready, you can't load up and get to the quarterback. So that's a really good point, man.
Yeah, It's something that teams have kind of gotten away from, but the Lions get back to it every once in a while.
I really appreciate it.
Can you do the whole of the NFC North justice, The fact that these four teams sit atop the league with point differential, they're beating up on their opponents bad.
We as kids.
Growing up in Minnesota used to watch the Fox robot walk around and like a Vikings Lions game didn't used to be that fun to watch, you know, not so long ago. This is pretty cool, the fact that everyone's looking at Vikings Lions, Packers Bears right now.
How are you feeling about it?
Yeah?
And I mean, shoot, we could go NFC Central and get the Bucks.
In there too.
Yes we get oh yeah, all five of them and they're all cooking.
Yeah.
No, it's great. I like those Vikings Lions games because my dad was eight no against the Lions. Sure, flex I like them.
Joey Harrington didn't like them, but I like them. So I know the NFC nor These are for the top ten teams in the league right now, anyway you shake it.
They're all playing good ball.
They all have good defenses, they all have quarterbacks that are playing well.
It's a really fun division. I just I really like watching these teams. It's not luck.
These are talent and really good coach teams, really well coached teams.
Nate, you're playing really well.
We have Joey Harrington's Sun, Sue, David tel and Philip Seymour Hoffman. It's if you want to really like Philip seymore Hoffman. We check out happiness. That's a really savory subject matter, Philip seymore Hoffen crazy and it you've seen it. I'm sure Nate you've also seen a reported thirty hours of tape a week. You are into the dark room, you're into the x's and oh so, just spit out something for us.
How close of a game will this be? And if you want to make a prediction, feel free.
I think a very close game. And you know, watching that film, you can check it out on an NFL pro Give that a little plug here because it's such a great product that the NFL provides, and that's where you can watch all this films, so you can just watch lines verus blitzes and you can make a little cut up against that and really helps out Nate Tice for his job. But I think this is going to be a pretty close game. I mean, these are two really good teams and for good units too. There's no real weak unit, sorry special teams, but really good offenses, really good defenses. I do think that the Vikings take it, but I do think it's gonna be a really close game with some points and some good defensive plays too.
If you know thy enemy and go. You know thyself, you shall never feel fear a thousand battle. That's what my coaches to say that just quoting them all day.
Yesterday Chamar Moore referred to Chamar Moore as Chamar Moore and now Nate Tyce justed it for Nate Tyce. I mean it takes some of the best to be right. Refer to yourself and the third person.
We know it. I love it, we see you, Nate.
No, I appreciate it, hy I know, great edition of the show Man. Thank thank you got so much for having me. I really appreciate it.
All Right, You like what.

I am so sorry for the rest of the twenty nine TV markets, Like, there's going to be a lot of horn for the vikings coming up here, ain't no. The Tice family against Glions.
Yeah, that's what I supposed to do.
