Would you rather visit Augusta National or Egypt? Manti T’eo joins the breakfast table and talks about his career post football, he explains why there was family drama after he was drafted by the Chargers, and then he shares why he doesn’t resent the media after what happened to him at Notre Dame. Scott Pioli stops by and talks about the progression of Caleb Williams at Chicago Bears training camp. Later, Tavon Austin joins the show and talks about his highlight reels in college and NFL.

Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in partnership with iHeartRadio.

Good Morning Football.

Hey, everybody, this is Good Morning Football.

Indeed it is.

We are presented by our friends at Harber Fright. We are also live here in Los Angeles. I'm Jamie her at all. This is a bar Baja Biam Miller, Peter Schraeger, and Kyle brant Out in New York City. Achbar pop quiz. It's Thursday on GMFB. What do we do on Thursdays?

Thursdays? Thursday Thursdays?

Yeah, we ca Okay, that's fine, that's true. We can do that. But we also play our throwdown as well. All right, throw Down Thursday. Yeah, yes, it's a game, because we always say if nothing else, we play a game here on GMFB. We start with the Lee block as we play throw it Out Thursday with brutal news for Vikings fans feels like continuing to unfold their rookie quarterback JJ McCarthy will miss the entire season after undergoing a full moniscus repair. That means that Sam Darnold will be the Viking starter, which was a little bit expected at least to start the season, but the fact that you know that McCarthy is now down for the entire season, makes you think differently about this team. McCarthy posted this on Instagram, Marcus Aurelius quote, A blazing fire makes flame and brightness out of everything that is thrown into it. He posted a bunch of pictures that goes along with this. I already know Kyle wants to have takes on a Marcus Aurelius quote, but we have to move on to throw it down Thursday. Meanwhile, the Dealers wrapped up camp yesterday in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. Russell Wilson has been dealing with a calf injury, but he's putting out nothing but positive vibes after practice.

Yeah.

I mean, I've been working every single day. Even in the days I was a little bit lighter in.

Team, I was just getting all the fundamental work.

And then obviously over the past two weeks really been building up a lot more reps than the team drills and everything else.

That's been great, been full for the past seen in trouble of several days and everything else.

So go really get them how to schedule Okay, throw it on Thursday.

Between those two topics, Russell Wilson on his third team looking for a redemption season after how things went down in Denver. Sam Darnold now on his fourth team, replacing or taking on the job that JJ McCarthy was fading for. Who is in a better situation to resurrect their career?

Bar you Gobirst, I'm gonna go Russell Wilson. I mean, but I think the narrative is kind of all messed up around, you know, Russell Wilson. I think a lot of people look at Russell Wilson gone, oh, it was such a bad year, like look at the numbers that he put up.

They weren't bad like that, you know what I.

Mean, And especially when you look at the back half of the season where they went six and one. But this whole thing got out about Russell Wilson and people are starting to identify him being an older veteran as being washed up. You can still produce. But I think now that he's in a better situation, a better environment, I think the marriage between him and Sean Payton just wasn't a good one.

I'm look, I'm.

At an age now where I know people who've gone through a couple of marriages already. You know what I mean, and you know they're on the second and third one, and somehow the second and third one hit, you know what I mean. And so I think this marriage right here, this third one is going to hit. His first one was successful, but then it broke down. Second one. I mean, it was contentious from the beginning. I mean, it all started with the office, you know what I mean. And now he's got a new place to set up shop. And I love what he has surrounding him from Pickens maybe and now Yuk. You know, Najie Harris, He's in a good situation to really produce.

I love what Akbar saying, and I'm rooting for Russell Wilson to do that. I don't think the stain of that Denver experience should be what we remember him for. We should remember him for his flourishing career in Seattle. Then hopefully he can turn it around in Pittsburgh. But you're talking about situation. Has anyone been dropped in a more advantageous situation than Sam Donald? You're talking about a offensive head coach and Kevin O'Connell, who's due as one of the best offensive minds in football.

You're talking about a.

Former longtime journeyman just like Donald's been, and Josh McCown as his quarterbacks coach, two elite first round wide receivers in Addison and Jefferson, and then a good running back and a great offensive line. I'll also go further with this, like it's almost to the t of a guy that he got drafted with. This is like Baker Mayfield season last year in Tampa where Baker signed that one year deal with Tampa and was like, all right, I've.

Got one shot here. I'm the guy. I'm gonna beat out Kyle Trask.

He's not gonna beat me for this job, and then I could do what.

I want with this thing. Baker signed a massive contract extension this year. Now, look, would the Vikings sign a massive contract accention with Donald knowing that JJ McCarthy's coming next year.

No, it's not gonna happen. But with another team.

If Sam Donald goes eleven and six this year, if Sam Donald goes here, goes goes nine to eight and takes the Vikings to a player again, and there's like a top twenty quarterback as he started next year in the league, he very well might be. I think as far as situations go, great organization, great offense, great offensive coaches.

I'm gonna say it's Sam Donald and.

He's still in his mid twenties where he can time can have that Baker Mayfield season last year where he get hit the jackpot again next season.

Yeah, I'm with you on this situation for sure.

I mean it's not the least of which is that Sam Donald knows one hundred percent he's gonna be starting Week one.

I don't know if Russell Wilson even knows that yet.

But I think in terms of the broader picture and what you're talking about is that Russell Wilson has this much different legacy that I think it would be a football shame if this thing didn't work out after the Denver thing. He needs this massive, massive comeback, and he's now at a team in a franchise that really doesn't lose, like they're always relevant, they're always good. He's not gonna have his head coach change. And you're saying, what if Donald does this this? What if Russell Wilson finds it again and he starts this year and he takes into the playoffs.

What if the what if?

What if he becomes a long term quarterback for Pittsburgh and like that's his second half. It's you know, I'm trying to find something reminiscent, and it's like, I'm thinking of John Travolta. Go for it. John Trabosa was the biggest movie star in the world in the seventies and the eighties and and it just completely fell apart. And he's doing, look who's talking movie is while successful, that we're not cool and really embarrassing for him.

That's kind of the Denver era.

And then out of nowhere, this brilliant writer and directors like, I want John Travolta in this movie, and everyone to the studios are like.

No, we're gonna have John Travolta. I don't care.

I will fight for him. And that's what the Steelers did with Russell Wilson. Sure enough, then pulp fiction comes out, Trabolsa has another twenty year run before he self sabotages.

That's fine, but is Tomlin his Tarantino?

Like, is this the guy who can say everyone else couldn't do it, but I can. No more talking baby movies. I'm gonna put you in a do grown up movies, grown up football. That would be this type of comeback. I still don't know if he's starting Week one. He's injured and he's got justin fields. But if he does, it's a.

Better story and it's a broader story for football. So I think it's Russell.

Did people start having a problem with Look who's talking? Is that you don't we don't.

Like those movies?

Is that bad?

No, it's just the fact that John Travolta was running the game like he was the coolest guy in Hollywood and now he's going down to the point where we're doing sight gags with Kirsty Alley and talking baby movies. I mean it was kind of pathetic, and he did I think three of them.

Yes, he does.

Have a voice in that movie.

Bus Willis Willis Willis was.

Next throwdown Aaron Rodgers mandatory Mini Camp to go on a trip to Egypt. Now, in defense, he said it was because he planned the trip based on last year's schedule and the fact that they keep moving Mini Camp around, But during a recent radio appearance, Rogers said that Egypt exceeded his expectations and in fact compared it to how he felt visiting Augustine National. So here's the question, Peter would you rather visit Egypt or the Land of the Green Jacket.

I'm all for.

Each and the Pyramids, but like humble brag time, Oh.

My god, the gear.

I might have bought this at Augusta National and I.

Went this year as a fan. First time I had the show was.

You know, off the air, and.

I had finally at a weekend off first time in eight years, and a friend invited me to go to the Masters, and typically I'd be like, no, I've got to talk about the NFL Draft in a weekend. Were going to talk about the backup running back from Tulane and I release schedular release, schedular release.

Oh, but they said, you know the show.

They yanked it and then they were like, Okay, now you've got some time to focus on whatever else you want and prepare for the draft, because I did still have that in the docket. But I'm like, I may never get this opportunity again. I went to Augusta National. I'm telling you everything you hear about it, like the green is greener, like the yellow is more yellow, Like I have no photos.

Can I tell you why?

They don't allow phones on the course, and if you have one, they toss.

You like it was a dream experience and I would love to someday return. So I'm going to say Augusta as much as as that might be culturally, you know, you know, near a short sighted of me, like I should go see the pyramids and go No, I'm good. I'm sure there's like a McDonald's at the bottom of the.

Pyramids at this point.

You know, there's like a city bank. I don't know, like I don't need to see that. I'm good. Podcast. Actually all right, thanks.

Look, look I love what you're saying. I do envy you.

I do want to go to Augusta National I've never been there before. I know, it's like a tradition like none other. Right, So I don't believe you because you have no picture to prove that you were at the Master's because they don't allow you. But I'm going to tell you something. You got to go to the Motherland. And I mean, look, Augusta is ninety four years old. This right here, since you're doing and tail, yes, my shirt is off, okay, okay, And I wanted to do it in front of a place that is twenty five hundred years old. You go through the pyramid of Giza, and you go through this little crawl hole and then you come up, and then you go down and then there's all these this like the space where treasury and Treasure was, and then you see the coffin and it's I mean, I'm telling you, when you go inside of this place, you come out blessed.

Okay, I mean you come out going yo. I did that?

Man?

Can we just show the picture one more time? And look at my abs? Just look at the top of the pyramid. Look at this. It's beautiful, man, isn't it.

Did you take your shirt off for the picture?

Be honest?

Heck yeah, I just I figured Jesus had walked past this place before, and I just said, you know what, I'm gonna do it.

Well, why are you laughing at the picture? And then the beautiful picture of the pyramid?

We actually and we have a similar picture of Competer streaking at Augusta. It says nineteenth hole on the back with an arrow pointing down. It's really really funny stuff. I'll do quick on this one. New York to Cairo eleven hour flight not not ideal. Also, I know this is really naive and probably ignorant. I feel like I've seen the Pyramids.

I've seen it.

I've seen the pictures.

I've seen a million movies that I've listened to the Bengals song.

Like I listened. Everyone's like, no, you gotta see him.

I don't know if you ever dipped your toes in the cool waters of Raised Creek, you ever hear the floorboards a butler cabin. That's what I want, a tradition. I'mlike any other. I'm going to Augusta. It's quick flight down to Georgia.

It's fine. Buddy of mine went there.

He said, an acorn fell off the tree and landed in the fairway, and they're like, we.

Have an acorn on the thirteen.

They picked up the acorn and in its place had grown a fully developed rose bush.

Like that. It's a miraculous place.

All due respect to the sarcophagus and all that's going on there.

I'm going to Georgia. I'm sorry, I'm not canceled.

I'm going to Augusta. I'm going to Augusta.

Did you know when you buy your chair and you put it down on wherever, like if you touch anyone else's chair, that's another reason to get tossed from Augusta. I love a sporting event that has rules, regulations and they have style and class.

We're all going to Agusta bart.

I'm going you have been there, Okay, so now you look like that.

Oh man, the pyramid.

This is so great joining us now nine seasons in the NFL, Legend for the fighting Irish Notre Dame. Now he's a colleague, a teammate here at NFL Network HIC.

This is Matti Tail.

What's up, man, Si, yeah, Man Tai, My goodness. The guys are jumping to the screen in New York City. We want to hear all about what have you been doing since you retired? You're getting into TV?

Now?

How much TV have we done?

Here?

Are we prepping you like we are sometimes with these segments like what's going on?

You've been a busy man, I've been busy.

I've been doing a little bit of TV. I've been in some entrepreneur endeavors.

Okay, private equity.

And when you're in a private equity space, it gets kind of scary with the people that you can talk to in them, which people talk. It's a different world, that's for sure.

Yeah.

But three years ago I got the greatest job ever, and that was when my daughter came into my life. There we go, she was born, I'll guess twelve, twenty twenty one. That's my sweetheart. And ever since then, it's been a full time job for me. And you know, they're at home watching TV. I think she's probably still sleeping because she's like daddy. She likes to sleep in a little bit. But it's the best thing in the world.

We have two children now and I can't think of anything but.

Three years, two kids, Kyle, and now he's sitting at our breakfast table because he's like uncle, I can't do it anymore.

No, it's great, but we understand Mantey, like all of us have kids.

And I listen, when I had my first kid, I gained about fifty pounds in the first six months.

It was just absolutely disgusting. You've decided to go another.

Route with it, where you're setting up private equity. I think in the squad rack and the bicep curls. Dude, you were look at this guy, Look at this What are we looking at right here?

Man? They look amazing.

Gosh, let me let me tell you, let me tell you it's not the crumble anymore. I told people all the time, Kyle. I went on that diet, the Crumble diet. I went from two thirty eight, that was my playing weight. I got all the way up to two ninety five. So don't worry.

I was right.

I was.

I was right there with you, brother, I was.

I was.

I went from putting my hand in the dirt, guys, I was, I was up there.

Wow.

Yes.

And then my wife, she she loves to do these fitness competitions.

She did it while we were dating, and she told us while she was pregnant with our second she was like, Hey, when I'm done pushing this baby out, I'm going and.

Doing a competition.

So I was like, you know what, this is my opportunity, guys, let me jump on with you. So I jumped on the same plan as she did. And man, let me tell you it's It was the best thing for me. It was the best thing for for for my children. I wanted to be a great example for them about health and really taking that seriously.

Are you doing? What are you doing? Hot? Hot hot yoga and pilates?

No.

So I got me a coke aerial cuts. I put him on my social media.

He's he's the best they do bodybuilding.

Hit him at bar he does bodybuilding. It's it's it's such a science there. I don't do any sprints. So everybody who's told me how I looked at bro come back to the football game. No, if I run down on kickoff nowadays, even though they shortened the distance, I'm still gonna pull a hammy. We are definitely not at that level of conditioning. But just the science of it, all the nutrition. I remember when I was playing, people would say, hey, it's all about the nutrition in this game of bodybuilding. I'm not a bodybuilder, but I'm on a similar program. I've eaten. I've eaten so much fish, so much vegetables. It's just dialed in and I'll thank you to my coach. I'll thanks to my Coach Cut commitment.

That's it.

This a Coach Cuts.

I got you.

I'm gonna link all of you guys with Coach Cut if you want to. It's gonna be a family thing. We can do burpies or whatever for the show.

Okay, I've been, I've been. I've been working with coach Bagel and Lox like, hey, we're this way. You You were a second round pick by the Chargers. We knew you had this amazing and there's an amazing collgeotball career. You go to the second round and everyone's cheering, everyone's excited. But I've heard stories that apparently that caused some problems in the household because of maybe who your household fans of when you were growing up.

Tell us about that.

Yes, so we grew up big forty nine Er fans that that's that's that's our that's the team that that that we watched. And when I got drafted to the Chargers, let's just say I had to make sure that the family members that were coming to these games were not only going to have.

Charger jerseys on, but they were going to cheer for the Chargers jerseys.

And I knew who these families were because a lot of the games there are only four people requesting tickets. When the San Francisco Ford came to town or when we went to go play them, all of a sudden, at twenty twenty five ticket requests from family members, I was like, listen, you guys can't come to this game because I don't care if you're wearing fifty jerseys, if some if Colin Kaepernick scores.

You can't cheer. You have to cheer for the for the San Diego Chargers.

So it definitely was something as a family we had to get through a little bit. Even when I went to the Saints, they did the same thing. But now that I'm done, all I hear is bang Bang Niner gang every every Sunday, every Monday, every Thursday. So I kind of keep my dis day in my lane and I cheer on my guy.

It does not feel like a very intentionally colorful jacket you're wearing today.

Okay, so about the jacket. Oh uh oh, I'm a lot like Patrick. My wife dresses me. Okay, Patrick, mahom, my wife dresses me. I dressed myself a majority of the time, but for the big things, my wife dresses me. So I initially came out in a big Notre Dame hockey jersey. Oh and my wife is like, no, go back, go back in the closet or something a little bit more calm, more.

Reserved, let's do this. So she came up with a jacket. I'll go out with the bomber.

Okay, yeah, next time Notre Dame hockey jersey, you absolutely would embrace that.

There, thank you.

Thanks.

Yes, yeah, absolutely, it's welcome here at the table.

Thank you.

Guys.

Well, I don't know about you, but she has great taste and you look great, and we'd love that you were kind of now part of our family, Mantai and doing media. Several years ago, you were at the center of one of the most unique media stories we have ever seen, and you went on to be part of the Netflix documentary about it, for which personally I think you came off great and explained yourself great. For anybody out there, Mantich who maybe didn't see the documentary, what would you like them to know about that story in your life?

Well, what I would like them to know, Kyle is there's so many different parts to a story, and I think in a day and age where there's so much information out there and it's coming at you at rapid speeds, to sometimes take a moment to step back, look at those sides, look at those doors, look at where it's coming from, vet those sources, and then come up with what you feel.

Is the truth.

I personally would love if somebody was saying a story about somebody else, you go to that source itself. I wouldn't take any information from people that are telling you things about what about something that happened to somebody else. And I was grateful for Tony Vaiinuku and Ryan Duffy, who are the two directors of the documentary. They did a tremendous job and it definitely helped me to recapture a lot of the stuff that I had prior to twenty thirteen. And it's the whole reason why I'm kind of back here guys in front of camera, you know. And it's given me a voice that people would want to listen to again. And it's something that I don't take for granted and I don't take lightly. And I'm extremely grateful to be here, and especially with the NFL Network family, with such a great group of guys and gals.

And we'll row.

You know.

It's interesting because you and I had never met before, but the very first time that you and I actually connected, I was in Fiji a couple of years ago, and I'm watching the documentary and I was in tears, and I was like, oh my goodness, because I was able to see the sides of the stories like you were talking about. But also too, I had this personal conviction because sometimes you hear a narrative. You hear a storyline and you just run with it and you believe it. And so I just hit you up on ig, right, I just got on ig. I was like, yo, man, this story really connected with me. And then we exchanged back and forth. But it was so powerful, man. It made me see you know the story, see you in a totally different way man. And so anyways, man, it was just a cool documentary.

I wanted to thank you for that war because this is a lesson for everybody. There are a few individuals that came up to me right around that time and say, hey, you probably hear this all the time, but man, you're awesome.

Yeah.

The reality was for the past ten years, I didn't hear that all the time. It was actually negative.

Yeah.

So for people at home, please, if you see somebody and you want to tell them something great, say hey, man, I just wanted to say, Or hey lady, I just wanted to say you look awesome.

I think I think you're amazing.

Say it to him. Don't let that reservation say I don't want I don't want to overstep my bounds. No, because you don't know if that person has hurt negative things for a long time and you coming over there, over to them in the gym saying, hey, I just want to let you know you're an inspiration.

How much that would mean to them so offward, thank you for doing that. It was amazing.

It's very big of you then, to take your life in a direction to sit at this table and frankly at the potential of reopening a scar that is probably still very sensitive to you in an era where we are valuing athlete mental health now more than ever. Is that why you come to a table like this? Because is it change that you've seen it change? Or do you do you? I'm surprised you don't hold resentment towards what the media machine.

Did to you.

Well, when when you're in disposition, you can either use it to do good or you can use it to do bad. My parents taught me ever since I was little, always do things to do good in this world. Always do things to make a positive impact on this world. And I'm not perfect, nobody's prepared. I have my mistakes right, But the whole reason why I'm on the show is number one.

I love football.

I love football now that I'm retired, I love fantasy football. I'm in that I'm one of those guys that you see me on the waiver wire. I'm trading guys. I've become the GM that I hated when I played.

Producing Like yeah, like that's that's me, right.

But also there are so many people that have reached out to me all over the world that said, hey, listen, your story really impacted me in a way that you have no idea how much it saved me. Now that put a responsibility on me to say, hey, listen, everybody knows the truth. No, not everybody saw the documentary, So what good can I do?

Well? In order for you to do any type good, you have to have a voice that people would listen to. And what a great opportunity that NFL Network has given me to.

Be on camera with again my NFL Network family, the Good Morning Football family, where I can be able to add some value and also have value added to me and you know, grow my family. So I'm just here to spread as much positivity as I can to bring good energy.

I told you, Jamie, I'm gonna bring that a lot of spirit I have. I saw up far in his shirt. I was like, well, that's kind of like a law shir problem.

This is for you.

Hey, bro, I'm gonna bring mine a tomorrow, you know what I mean.

So I just love growing my family with great people. So that's kind of why I'm here.

That's awesome.

Well, we love that you are here.

Let's shift gears.

But on the topic of running with narratives that may not be true the movie Rudy, let's get into this, man, Ty, you are.

A Notre Dame legend. We talked about we all have kids.

Just last night, my son and I, knowing that you were coming on, I was trying to get him fired.

Up about Notre Dame. We watched the movie Rudy. He loved it.

A lot of people get offended by this movie. A lot of people are triggered by it. What's true, what's not true? It didn't help that Joe Montanas said to Dan Patrick that they were kind of making fun of Rudy and it was a joke. As a Notre Dame legend. What is your relationship with the movie Rudy.

Okay, I didn't like the movie when I first saw it.

I don't.

I didn't. I didn't.

I didn't like it, and maybe it was because I and all my Notre Dame family knows this. I grew up a SC fans, so I didn't really relate to the movie like that. Now, when I did commit to Notre Dame, I did have one of those Tim Brown moments on that Heisman commercial where the Rudy I knew was a Rudy in the movie. So I didn't know what Rudy Rudiger really looked like until at a parade he came up to me and he was like, Hey, my name is Rudy Rudiger. It's nice to meet you. I was like, oh, you're Rudy, and then Rudy Rudiger responded to me by saying, see, this is the problem with a young generation.

They don't know their history. And I'm like, hit you with that one. Wait, I did see the movie, and.

I don't know if you can say that to me. I'm just starting, you know what I mean.

For one of those encounters, I'm like, what mare you hold up? I didn't know who you really were. But now that I know, listen, let me tell you a little bit something about history.

Buddy, you know.

So it wasn't the most positive, oh wow like interaction at that point, but then I was a freshman, and I did have some growing to do and my my, my career ended up.

The way I was. And we had another encounter later where he was like, hey, man, you know.

I just want to say love and respect, and I was like, man, love and respect to YouTube brother.

Like I think it was a whole.

Misunderstanding at that point, and I was a young cat and I should have handled that a little bit better.

But that was my first encounter with Rudy.

I didn't know who he was because like Tim Brown and that that Heisman commercial, I I just knew the guy from the movie That's that's Oh, that's a good story.

I just wanted to say, I mean, mantow, We're going to be using you a lot on the show. We're going to have a lot of interactions with you. But this has been a home run, man, and thanks for sharing your story. And here Kyle and I are in New York and we can't wait to hang.

With you and sound great job, dude.

So we have to head out to Bears training camp.

Now.

Scott Pioli is on site, and naturally he's there because if you're Scott Pioli and we rely on you as our executive of our show. You got to get on hand to on site to watch Kayla Williams to rock to Romadoonze. You have to see this in action, hard knocks cameras and all. Scott Peoly on site. Scott, good morning to you, Good morning, good morning. Why is it so special for you to be there? What are you seeing in terms of the direction the Bears need to be going in and is it being fulfilled so far in training camp?

You know, first of all, in being here, Jamie, the first part of the question, you know football to me, as I've always explained the importance of football and my love for football, it's about the relationships and the people and the lasting relationships.

And Ryan Poles is.

Here as their general manager. I knew Ryan back when he was a when he was a player at Boston College. I was at the Patriots he was still playing, and then he had his you know, his little time in the NFL. And then when I was hired this general manager of the Kansas City Chiefs, Ryan was one of the first people that I hired. He was working as a graduate assistant coach, not a coach, but a graduate assistant in the scouting department in the recruiting department brought him in, and Ryan is one of those people that, even though there are many years apart between he and I, he's a younger person that I've always learned from. And yesterday was one of those days when I got to spend time around him and all of the folks that are here and the people that hired, the culture that he's built.

It was an incredible day.

And it's funny because Matt Ryan's here too, and Ryan Poles and Matt Ryan went to BC at the same time. They were together for five years. They're close friends, their dear friends. They're in each other's weddings. And to watch that interaction and two people that I'm connected with, to spend that kind of day with football people was just really really cool.

Jamie.

Yeah, that's special, Scott. You know, from the NFC North to the NFC South.

You know, Sherry just mentioned, of course, the big news that broke last night with the Patriots trading Matthew Judan to Atlanta. I mean, what was your reaction to this when you heard about this news, because I know I almost flipped when I saw I'm going, oh boy, they're making a move.

So part of what was really cool was being here with the Bears and Ryan Poles is they were involved in this trade possibility. They were one of the teams that.

Were talking to the Patriots.

They were talking to the agent for Matthew Judan, So I wasn't surprised, and I was watching this whole thing unfold and this is the cool part behind the scenes. When you're trading someone, you have to talk to multiple people, and part of what has to be done during that process is the team needs to give you permission to talk to the agent to see what the contract is going to be like, which kind of makes the Hassan Reddick thing look a little bit weird to me. As I watched this, is like, didn't they know what the deal was going to be? Didn't they know what the you know, the contract was going to need to be. This is what was going on yesterday. So I had a front row seat listening to Polls and their folks here talking with it. And when it happened, you know, I thought it was a really good chance. But what it came down to was the money and what the what was going to be done with the contract, and he went to Atlanta based on the money and that situation and what the contract.

Was going to be tweaked as oh man, Well, it does put a different look at other players that are in the same precarious situation with their teams, which we will talk with Scott. I'm sure more here on Go Morning Football as an unfolds in August. Scott, thank you so much, Welcome.

Back to GMFB Now.

Yesterday on the program, I did a segment where I said, Hey, Taevon Austin. It's one of the most beloved college and high school football players of all time, and in his retirement from the NFL, I don't think his NFL career should go overlooked.

So we put that out there and.

We put it on Instagram and this thing got ten thousand reposts, million tweets. I felt really good about the top five plays that we picked to pay off Tevon Austin's career as an NFL player. And then I got this video sent to me and it's Tevon Austin himself.

What's up? I got more? Please for you? What's going on?

Avon? This is live? This is the video, this is nine, You're live.

What's going on?

What's going on?

Y'all? How y'all being.

Dude, a Baltimore legend, a West Virginia legend, and an NFL legend. Congratulations on your retirement from the league.

Yeah, I really appreciate it, man, Thank you, Thank you.

Man.

No, we want to say thank you for all the highlights, for all the game breaking like this is. We didn't even know you were coming on live. Right now, I'm fully surprised that you even here. Like I've got goosebumps right now, Dude.

I know we put the video out yesterday and a lot of people from around the NFL, guys you played with, guys you played against.

Feel the same way, like you're really really important for them.

What was it like for you to see that?

Man?

Honestly, man, it was just it was a tough time man first, but it then made me realize, like how much I influenced this world, and how much I influenced a lot of the athletes.

That's that's that's big time now. And I just believe.

No, I mean, I was chasing some of the wrong things in the beginning, not saying it was wrong, but I was chasing the Hall of Famer, and I was chasing the pro bowler and all those things that you know, because that's that's that's what they feel like, that's what that's what that's what's.

Gonna make you when the end of the year, the end of your career. But actually for me, I had a different little role.

And it was different for me, which is more for me was just touching people lives and so it just made me feel so good yesterday. And know, I me been a long role for me in these last couple of years. So when I just seen all those players hitting me up, man, I was like dag man, like, I ain't know how much I touched them people.

Yeah, and you know, Todd Gurley said, you know, Taevon Austin was your favorite player's favorite player. So we got done with those five plays, and a lot of different viewers sent in other Tevon Austin NFL place.

Take a second, sit back. Here are five more.

Yeah, NFL legendary place by.

The great Tavon Austin.

Could sit back in Washington's all day, man, Tabon, I gotta ask you.

I gotta ask you.

When you see these internet on Twitter, on Instagram, people are like, screw it, just play.

Tavon Austin highlights. Do you see that?

Like, do you know how much joy you bring people with just your highlight reels from college and of course now the pros.

Man, it's crazy, like finally at the end of my career, I really do now because you know, we just want to play football. I'm humble with whoever, no Tavon, man, I'm a good person. I don't really get into a lot of stuff. I never been to a lot of places. Its never been no red cobbies or got a name or all. My name never really in the linelight. But if anybody see me now, man, I just look back at it and I'll just be like, well, how we boy?

You was bad?

Take you was bad? You know what I mean. So it made me feel so good now though I ain't gonna lie.

I really found myself man, just and I think myself every morning man for it now like god that you never know what you touch once again and it just meant the world to.

Me yesterday in the last two days.

Well it meant the world to us being on the watch and what happens to tablet And this is funny. So the videos are so popular and people like to revisit them, and then if you go down in the comments, people are like fighting over at about which one was the best one, and they're like having arguments about, No, this is the best one, this is the best one.

So let me ask you, what do you think is the best highlight of your football career? The number one?

It was the one y'all played when it fact it made a number one on y'alls. Coach Fisher draw this play up. You know, Coach Fish, not even the office of coordinator. So what kind of meant that meant in the world to you.

Know? He had deep as a.

Guy when you're out of the backfield, right out of the.

Back here a running back exactly exactly because you know me and Coach Fish knew new woman heart was that I really want to be in that backfield. But you know things happened when but when he gave me that little sweep and then I got to spin around with the pulling person, you know, Austin Pettis gave me a good black down in the field and I got to do my little dance back from Baltimore.

Man felt it was the world to me, man, I really will that was one of my favorite ones.

Right now, what is the dance?

We're gonna go to the dance? They kept on referencing the dance here and I you know, culturally, I don't know this. What is that dance called everyone.

In the coming called It's called the Avenue now, I mean it's from the city.

It's called the Avenue. Man.

One of my closest homeboys name shot Shot little Right, used to do it down in the little neighborhood. So I got it from him.

Our whole city doing and you know what I mean, it just it kind of went worldwide with it.

You know, we're wrapping up the segment here, but Tavan, we so appreciate it.

Just real quick, do you do you do you want to do TV? Do you want to coach?

What's next for Tavon Austin because the highlights they shouldn't stop coming.

Yeah. Oh man, that's crazy that you said that.

Honestly, man, coaching h being on here with y'all being on anywhere, just anywhere, with my presence is felt and people love me.

That's all it is.

Man.

Any anyway I can change it, change anybody, one person to a million people.

I would love to do that.

Well, we love you, man.

I mean, this is a really really special moment for Peter and myself, for everybody. Good morning football, totally organic.

You are the best. You are blast. Thank you so much for joining us.

Tevon Austin the ultimate take them out one more to the Avenue baby so much man.

Thank y'all practice that move too.

I know I'm trying that one. I don't know if I'm trying that one.

I did what I
