Hour One of the Good Morning Football Podcast begins with hosts Jamie Erdahl, Kyle Brandt, Peter Schrager, Akbar Gbajabiamila and Isaiah Stanback discussing if Aaron Rodgers should take snaps in the New York Jets final preseason game. We in or we out - Bo Nix should be a favorite to winning offensive rookie of the year? Kirk Cousins should select the Super Bowl half time performer? Later, they react to Sauce Gardner’s comments on Giants QB Daniel Jones.
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in partnership with iHeartRadio.
Good Morning, Hey, everybody, this is Good Morning Football. We are presented by best Buy. I'm Jamie hurt All. This is Isaiah Stanback. That's real brand.
There's Peter Schrager.
And have you guys seen a far of USANALYSTI I haven't seen him.
My god. It was like a construction.
I know, I know Kyle appreciates this. This was me giving a little love to Princeton. The word, the Princeton word here today is ostentatious about that?
You know who's not ostentatious whatsoever? Peter Schrager. Peter, you have not disclosed to the good people why you're a Jets team cam today talk to us.
Yeah, everyone's fired up about Aaron Rodgers throwing a fifty five yard and then a sixty five yard pass to Garrett Wilson and just destroying the Giants defensive backfield. I will be on the call for the Jets Giants preseason game Saturday night on CBS.
I'll be in the booth with Iron Eagle, and.
Today I am going to be meeting with the team leaders and the coach and we'll be talking about what they've got going on for the season finale of the preseason, but I am so excited. I'll be in the broadcast booth Saturday night. If you're watching Jets Giants, you'll hear this beautiful voice calling it with iron Eagle cool cool, Hey.
Peter, if you run run into Sauce Gardner, he's still trying to think about what to say about Daniel Jones. He's still thinking about it, so see he can get an answer out of him.
He's still standing there.
If you don't know what you're talking about, we will let you know what that was all about.
Yesterday.
At a loss for words, which is not something we say often about Sauce Gardner, we take you to the lead block where Peter is. We check out the aforementioned bomb that Aaron Rodgers threw at practice yesterday. Oh my goodness, falling away fifty five yarder, Garrett Wilson. It's all a thing of beauty and frankly, it's some of the stuff that we saw last season until it was cut short. Reese Hall then tweeted out, Long is eight good. I'm good, Jets fans, good everyone, mental health check good.
Long is the good. I'm good, that's resolved.
Robert Saladd was asked if Rogers will be ready to go for the season.
Here's coach.
Aaron's where you want.
For Christa Kevin.
I felt like he was where we needed him when he first walked in. I'm talking his arm is thirty. You guys see him every day. His arm is still thirty, and he's got plenty of mobility. He showed that in Carolina getting out of the pocket several several times. He does in practice. I think he is absolutely ready to go.
Sala kind of speaking the truth into what we all thought when Rogers showed up with the Jets last season. And it's almost coming to fruition for Jets fans and the regular season. But we have one more preseason match, Peter, that you will be on the call for. Do you think that Rogers should see a few snaps on Saturday against the Giants.
It's a fair question, Jamie.
Look, he hasn't taken the field in three hundred and forty six days in a game. I remember we lost some four snaps into the regular season last year. He missed the entire regular season, hasn't played any of this preseason so to.
Get some live reps, it makes sense. I don't know.
Yesterday was kind of a Picasso and it's kind of like, let's just leave it right there. I could understand not playing him as well. Look, they've got to still see who's going to be the quarterback behind him in Tyrod. They might want to work that out in this game. But last year against the Giants, he did play, and he looked great, and then he was like, all right, we're good. We saw enough, We're all right going to the regular season. As of right now, there has been no public word and I have not heard anything from my sources of the Jets if he's going to play Saturday night against the Giants. But it could go either way, and I would be more than understanding after yesterday's performance, where I'm telling you, living in this market I'm talking about this is a public practice.
For the fans.
Aaron Rodgers absolutely carved up that Giants defense, the Giants defense that prides itself on defense, and a Giants defensive back to that has Deontay Banks one of the top ten players on my breakout list that I revealed yesterday.
Garrett Wilson did as everything.
He pleased and it sounds like the Jets were very happy with their offensive performance, considering last year in the quarterbacks room was Zack Wilson, Trevor Simeon, and Tim Boyle. This year, just for reference, Zach Wilson is a backup in Denver, Trevor Simeon is out of football, and Tim Boyle is trying to make the team right now. In Houston, they have tyrod, they have Rodgers. They feel good. I don't know if they want to put any of that risk. I wouldn't blame them if we don't see Rodgers in the preseason finale.
Peter Aaron Rodgers might be the leader in the clubhouse for intrigue when it comes to player, headline, and team as we head into the season. But we're two weeks from kickoff tonight. When you say intrigue, Peter, and I forced you to go outside the building that you're in. Peter, I'll start with you, so we'll go around the table. What intrigues you most about this upcoming season?
Yeah?
I think the Caleb Williams story is fascinating.
And I know Kyle is up there in New York right now and he's talked a lot about the hard knocks and what this does as far as adding fuel.
To the fire. But I think it's legit.
The Bears have not had that quarterback, that first overall quarterback in the history of the franchise. And you know, Trapisky they traded up for, and Justin Fields they traded up for, But those guys.
Weren't this This is a Heisman Trophy winner.
Who is throwing this team on his back this summer and has given everyone reason for excitement. I almost feel like, I don't know if there's been a quarterback that's been given this much hype going into a season since maybe Andrew Luck, you know, like and that's Andrew Luck came in.
And it was supposed to, you know, change football forever. I just don't know how this goes. And they play Week one, I guess the Tennessee Titans team.
That it's like, okay, if you're looking at the hype, like the Bears have everything going in their way and everyone's been talking about all the acquisitions and the Titans we haven't heard two things about this whole entire all season.
That's not a team like that should be a win.
We'll see it's two weeks from now, but I'm fascinated to see how it all goes down. And I'm not even going to the negative, like if it doesn't work, I'm just gonna stick on the positive and say, what if Caleb actually does take these Bears and brings them on his back as a rookie and takes them to the playoffs, This would be the biggest story in the NFL this season.
Well, I look on the other end of the spectrum, and the Bears have their own reality show and they have all kinds of coverage nationally everywhere, a lot on our show. How about a team last year that was in the playoffs and has the reigning Coach of the Year. Is there any chatter at all about the Cleveland Browns. I think there should be. There's so much mystery. There's such an enigmatic team. And I'll tell you why. Kevin Stefanski two times Coach of the Year in the last four years. I think everybody likes Stefanski. I think everyone's a fan of his and his results. But there's so much mystery about Deshaun Watson. Deshaun Watson missed all of the end of last year as they go on a playoff run in this Miraculous Day Disney movie Joe Flacco thing, and where there were real conversations being had about I think the team works better with Flacco than Watson. Okay, Flaco's gone, It's fine, it's Watson's team now.
Hasn't played in the preseason.
Doesn't appear that he's going to Apparently now he is suffering from quote general arm soreness, and it's all Jamus here. Remember, Deshaun Watson has not had a full, good, quality, healthy.
Season since twenty twenty. It has been four years. We can run all the Miles Garrett highlights.
We won.
Everybody loves Miles Gart He's a defensive end. I'm talking about the quarterback of the Cleveland Browns. We have not seen him out there healthy and productive in four years. We have not seen him the whole preseason. We have not seen him last year, and we're going to see him, ladies and gentlemen, Week one against the Dallas Cowboys and Tom Brady's first call as a color commentator. It's going to be millions of people watching it. And I have no idea what we're getting from Deshaun Watson. What we've seen from the Cleveland hasn't been great. It hasn't even been good, and now it's just full mystery. I know Miles Garrett is good. I know Kevin Stefanci is good. I know Nick Chubb is always injured, always comes back tough. I don't know much else about this team, and they're going to be really high profile right.
Out of the gates.
I think they're the most mysterious enigmatic team in the entire NF already have not talked about don't know what to expect.
Wow, I mean, well, the one word that sticks out in that whole thing was, how do you.
Say that word again? Gnatic? How did you know he's going with that enigmatic? Sit again?
Enigmatic?
That one right there?
I know mysterious, right, Okay, So you know who else has been mysterious. There's been a lot of hype around Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels and a lot of the big rookies Bo Nicks. We haven't heard a lot about Marvin Harrison Junior and the impact. We know he didn't do Pro Day, we know he didn't do the combine. We haven't seen or heard much about him during the preseason. There's a reason why I feel like they're hiding him like I think they want him to be give you that work one more time, enigmatic, right, like the mysterious. I think he is the biggest to me, one of the biggest upside like prospects. I'm talking about game changer, difference maker for the Arizona Cardinals.
Last year they didn't do not now I mean it. It was tough for them. They couldn't get ws like it was tough. And now we see somebody.
Who could change the scale, like they went out and upgraded offensive lineman last year they went out and got Paris Johnson. I think all of this is kind of the making of them trying to make an impact offensively. But I love the fact that Marvin Harrison Junior could be one of those guys to be that to be that guy, I mean, to be the person.
He's the one that intrigues me the most.
Well, I'm gon go ahead and take it over to the Los Angeles Chargers, and I have to look at Jim Harbard. He just showed up on the scene. Obviously, he took care of business back in the day when he was with the forty nine ers, took them all the way to the Super Bowl, didn't walk away with the ring, but he got them there. He got them to the show, and then he went ahead and left the parted there and went to Michigan and just all he did was win Big Ten championships. And then obviously last year went undefeated and won a championship against my Washington Huskies.
It's not even talking about that.
But now all of a sudden, he finds himself in the Chargers. But he has a whole new cast out there. You have a quarterback out there and justin Herbert, who knows exactly what he's doing.
You're still looking to see exactly what he can do without.
His care package that he received when he first touched down there with Keenan Allen, with Austin Eckler, with Mike Williams. All those guys are gone, so you don't know what you have at the offensive side of the ball. He was able to retain all of his defensive guys, which is awesome.
Man.
We're gonna see exactly what they're going to do.
But he is the ultimate juice man.
Want to see exactly what he can bring to the table in the NC West. He has to take care of business because we also know there's some dude out there by the name of Patrick Mahomes who's gonna be out to putting up points.
They have to score points in order to be competitive.
You took the words out of my mouth. I was just doing a little housekeeping because we're talking intrigue right now or enigmatic entities within the NFL. No one had mentioned the three ped potential with the Chiefs yet, So I don't know if that means that it's not intriguing because it's inevitable, or because we've talked about it so much in this offseason that it remains intriguing to us no longer. Kyle, is there anything that you left off the list that you want to get off your chest for things that intrigue you heading into the regular season?
Now, I'll just bring it back full circle what Peter started with, like the Rogers should he play in the preseason thing at all? And by the way, I'm about forty percent through the book. We just went through community college and now we're through cal and now he's showing up in the draft and it's fantastic.
I mean, there's so many things I want to talk abo. I'll do it during commercial breakthough, does.
Rogers want to play in the preseason, it's up to him. At this point, he's an adult. I don't feel like he needs to be told whether or not he should. I don't think it needs to be a Robert solid decision. It's like some of us just understand how to conduct our lives at this point. I know what time I need to leave the house to get to the airport. Okay, if we're going out to dinner, I know, honey, I have to get up.
And shower and change. Don't need to tell me.
I have the whole process. I've done it many times. If Rogers wants to play, he'll play. They do these things.
Now, and Peter hit it.
We're like, it's the it's the inner squad scrimmages, it's playing with the Giants.
That is his preseason game. It's perfect. You can do the reps, the timing, and you don't get hit.
So I actually A'm gonna go full circle and say I don't even want him to play in the preseason.
Who cares? Let me see him in the opener.
I think one of the interesting things, you know, you talk about Rogers and the Jets in the AFC East. If we're talking about intrigue Dolphins Bills. I think the Patriots are fascinating the season. I know you at home might be like Patriots.
I don't.
I didn't draft any of their players on fantasy leagues. His drafts is exactly. If you were to do a power rankings right now heading into the regular season, the Patriots might be thirty two.
I mean they might be thirty two as far as on paper.
New coach, rookie quarterback, you know, all sorts of new players.
They got rid of Jude On, they didn't bring back this guy, that guy like.
I think the Patriots in this post Belichick era is fascinating. And if Gerrodmeo could magically whip up eight or nine wins similar to how Laflor did last year with the Packers in that post Rogers era, we could be talking about one of the great stories, or we could be talking about one of the great rebuilds or one of the most disastrous teardowns that we've seen. I am not comfortable with the New England Patriots being ranked thirty, thirty one, thirty two in all these power ranking It's unfamiliar to me, as someone who's been covering the NFL since the early two thousands. Yet that's where we're at, and I want to see what a first year coaching Gerrod Meyo can do.
That is very intriguing.
I do want to go back to what Kyle was just saying and what you were talking about earlier, Peter, and you know that question about Aaron Rodgers, Like in playing in this third and final preseason games, that's a preseason game. I think everyone knows where the guys who are on the bubble, the guys who are trying to make the squad, that's their opportunity. Like you got to give it to them. But I'm like, if I don't know who you guys' favorite actor is, but like for me, my favorite actor is Denzel Washington. And if I was going to be funding a movie and I wanted Denzel Washington, are you am I gonna ask Denzel Washington to audition? No, Like I really know what he can do. I know his capability, Like Aaron Rodgers is on that level. He doesn't need to audition. He knows how to do it. Like, uh so when people ask if he should, oh, we got to see him. He needs He hasn't played in three hundred million days and who cares like he is, like he's that dude.
Welcome back to the show. It is Thursday morning. We do a segment called we In or We Out. I'm here at Jets camp, but I'm gonna talk about a team out in Denver, because yesterday we got the word that bo Nicks, the rookie in the sixth quarterback selected in the twenty twenty four NFL Draft, will be the Week one starter for the Denver Broncos, the first Broncos rookie to start Week one since John Elway.
I'm gonna say a statement. We're gonna go to Akbar first and around the table.
I'm back to Kyle, and you tell me whether you believe this or you do not we in or we Out?
The statement is this, given Sean Payton's.
Grid history with quarterbacks, bow Knicks is the favorite to win Offensive Rookie of the Year this season out in Denver.
Ockbar your thoughts, Yeah, no, no, I'm out on this one. I mean, even if Sean Payton the quarterback whisper or whatever like.
Even v turns him into the second coming of.
Brock Purty, it doesn't equate to him being you know, the you know, Rookie of the Year. I think it's probably going to go to the quarterback, one of the quarterbacks who were taking in the top you know two with Jade Daniels and Caleb Williams. Is probably gonna come down to one of those guys. But I mean to me, all eyes are pointing towards Caleb Williams. I'm on that high train. I'm on the Jade Daniels high train as well. But those guys, especially Kleb will has so much around him to support them. But bow Nicks, Yeah, yeah, he could show up and I think we're gonna give him thumbs up.
That's about it.
I really thought you were going to go in because you're one Bronco head away from having a jersey. I was like, I thought you were leading your hand like now, well, I like what bow Knicks has been doing.
So this is me saying, I appreciate you. I appreciate you, but you ain't winning Rookie of the Year right.
Yeah. No, I'm out on this one as well.
I don't see how he even has the supporting cast to justify him being the Rookie of the Year. To your point, Ogbar, you look at Caleb Williams and everything that they surrounded around him. That has to be your favorite right now. He's put in a position where he literally cannot fail. It doesn't matter who gets the ball when he comes out of his hands, He's going to have a playmaker at his disposal.
Mister Bownicks does not have that.
Cortland Suttling is not going to be the guy who makes all those plays for him. So I'm not sure where this offense comes from, but bow does not have the legs to be able to utilize, to be able to go ahead and make the places for these guys and.
Move the chains consistently.
Remember, if offensive Rookie the Year, it's not like MVP. You don't have to have this crazy winning season and be the one seed in the playoffs at all. There's a lot of examples of that. Justin herberts Kyler Murray is a rookie not winning seasons, still Rookie of the Year. And I think the case for bow Knicks has to do with Mattieberflus and Dan Quinn, who are defensive coaches on the other guys you guys mentioned. I don't know if matt Eberfluss a quarterback whisper and anyway, we don't know anything about matte Eebraflus. We know a lot about Sean Payton, and if he takes Bonnicks, who he is in love with, not only that he wanted to draft him, but he wanted to start him. And he puts up a bunch of stats that Broncos don't have to win thirteen games, they don't have to win ten games. They don't know what it's doing nine games if they're behind a lot. If Nix runs up a bunch of stats, and if he gets through the entire season, remember, Herbert won it Justin Herbert won it in a seat in a draft that had Tua and Burrow. And if we were having that conversation back then, I don't think we'd be looking at Justin Herbert's as the rookie of the year, especially since he didn't even start his first game. So don't just count it out because we know I love Caleb and we love Jayden. I think Nix is right there in the mix of it. Is he the favorite? I think it's a dead heat right now. It's August, Jamie.
I need your two cents of this around the table. A deciding voice, what do you got?
I will go in on this as well. I will go in on winning offensive rookie of the Year, because as I was listening to you too, I understand where you're at with the other seemingly brighter lights, bigger names, frankly, the names that have dominated our off season. But Isaiah, I kind of go against the grain with your defense for why he shouldn't, which is, if he can build a season and perform seventeen games worth of wins and stats and whatever have you, he's doing it without the supporting cast that you think. And frankly, I like the story behind bo Nicks being what feels like a thirty six year old Brookie quarterback, and that's a no offense to bon Nicks, Like he just played a lot of college football, and if he arrives on the scene and delivers in a way, all of a sudden, you're making a case for the anti Anthony Richardson, which is thirteen games in college versus one hundred games in college for Bo Nick. So, Peter, that's my take.
I love it.
And you could also mention the three wide receivers who went in the top ten as possibilities in this one two to win Offensive Rookie of the Year. It was a very offensive heavy top fifteen. Remember the first defensive player selected was Lattu when he went to the Colts all the way in the middle of the first round. Let's get to the next question here because it's a call back to yesterday's show, and I think it's very important now. The news on Tuesday was that Kirk Cousins got to pick the playlist for the Falcons practice and had the ox cord, if you will, and the music wasn't the typical music in Atlanta. It was different music. It was more Kirk cousins Ish music. As you could see the playlist that they played.
That was the story.
Everyone laughed and said, oh my god, all American rejects and Ever Clear and all these bands, how funny Foo Fighters. This was the list that was the music play and everyone thought Cousins is hilarious with this, and this is the music he listens to to get this love by Maroon five going while.
Bijon is run on the field. Great, we love it.
Then we had our investigative reporter here on Good Morning Football, Kyle Brent reveals some very interesting news on yesterday's show.
Kyle, you are the Edward R. Murrow of this and this was what you unveiled to us yesterday. You killed it.
On Good Morning Football this morning as always, but I was chuckling because yesterday at practice, I'm used to always hearing you know, trap music gangs to wrap the whole practice, and I'm always like, can we have a little bit of diversity, like maybe one every ten songs we could get some some other genre, and usually it falls on deaf.
Ears, but yesterday it was like one.
Song after night there was another was like food Fighters, Good Charlotte, all American rejects. I was like, man, I like this song.
I like this song.
Like this song.
So after practice, onto the ore, you know, coach's assistant, who's the DJ, And I said Madison, like, I got to give you an at a boy that was an awesome practice playlist and she said, well it was because it was your birthday.
That was all for you.
So she just basically guessed what I would.
Like, and she guessed correctly.
But unfortunately the list wasn't actually my literal practice playlist, which I.
Would have loved to put one together. Maybe I can have future birthdays.
In the league and do that. But uh, that was literally the coaches assistant just guessing what.
I would like. But she basically has me pegged.
So so that was the story.
But yeah, it was. It was a huge birthday gift.
When you're used to listening to gangster rap over and over and over. To get a little food fighters in there was at the end of the world for me.
So I hope you're doing well.
We're doing well, all right, Kirk.
We loved that message, Kyle, that was awesome yesterday.
Here's the statement. We'll start with Ocbar and we'll go to Isaiah Jamie and then Kyle, you'll wrap it up. Kirk Cousins.
Should pick who does halftime show entertainment this super Bowl.
That is the statement. We in or we out.
Kirk Cousins should select the Super Bowl halftime performer.
Ochbar your thoughts.
First Off, I love Kirk Cousins. I love the way he says gangster rap are.
Like it.
I love it so but I would go I'm out on Kirk Cousins. Kirk, you know I love you, man, but I don't want you doing the halftime show selecting the half time show performance. But I do have a crazy idea that I just thought about. In the spirit of Kendrick Lamar and Drake having a battle, why don't we have them battle at not Kendrick Lamarin Drake, but why don't we have like entertainers like get into like a little battle system and then work its way like a playoff system all the way to the super Bowl, and whoever wins like these little battles throughout the year, throughout the season, they get to perform at the halftime show.
That's a nice idea, but it's all the bands that Kirk Cousins, I'm.
Well, I'm about to say that, uh, Kirk Cousins is going to be a negative ghost writer. I'm not going to allow you to go ahead and picked the play listen, Nor am I allow you to pick the halftime show, because you can't do this to a good old.
Fallout boys like we said you do on.
The Airplanest boys, I'm out on that one.
There's only one boy. There's only one boy that falls out one. It's one fallout boy.
I'm only going to say this went to deliver this line because I just learned to be for the entertainment factor. But I'm out because you can't pick the super Bowl performer if you're playing in the super Bowl.
Oh, I just want to try it.
I just wanted to try it on the side it.
No.
I wish though, that jamie're on to something.
I wish that if Kirk Cousins did pick the playoff performer that he was in the super Bowl, because there's this great history. When Michael Irvin was playing in it, he came out at halftime of the game just to watch Michael Jackson. And I would love Cousins like to come out on the halftime like in just vibing to see their you know, like I just need that shot. But listen, the answer to this is, of course yes. And I know this sounds crazy, but there there used to I think there used to be a thing in this country called rock and roll and it was very popular, and I still think it is in some circles. Let's just remember, though, guys, it's been nine years, just nine years since Coldplay was.
The halftime act.
Now, granted they brought out Beyond Say on Mars and everything, but then it's been fourteen years.
That's it.
Since it was the who from our parents generation with no supporting acts, no surprise guests.
We used to do this, So if there's.
A way to kind of blend the world's like I don't know if like Kendrick is going to come out with switch foot I don't know if we can get them to do that, or if Drake would cameo with Hoopa Stank. But if we can, the Cousin's playlist might actually work. And the reason is you, Kirk.
That's why I would do it.
You know what k.
Y works. You can call me Kirk. I love it. A bar sees you as Kirk in the same Okay.
So who would be your rock and roll because you know, you actually bring up a really good point, you know, like I mean, we there's been a while since we've had that type of genre. Who would be your rock and roll guy? Like that you would want to see right now? I mean not that I would know the name, but like, educate me. Who would be that rock and roll person?
Listen?
The only true rock bands who could really cover it, who have the fame, who have the catalog that I think we're just kind of passed it. Food Fighters could do it, Metallica could do it, Maybe Pear Jim could do it. There's a few other ones, but I don't think we I know the Food Fighters for a while was going to be part of it. I think they've passed that. I just don't think we're doing it anymore. I don't think based on the last ten to fifteen years. I know it comes on cycles. I can't imagine us going to purely rock band. I've said for years I want weird al Yankvick.
To do the halftime.
Nobody's listening to me, so in the meantime, Kirk take a shot.
I want Chappelle to just come out there and just do a set live on TV for halftime.
I think that would be great. Let's change it up all together. Well, does it have to be music? Could just be a performer. I'm gonna make the push here and I'm gonna wrap it with this. Do you like that? You like the Dave Chappelle?
Oh, I I've ever heard ever like that's going to happen? Like can I'm so sorry to interrupt you, Lord, please let this happen. Let whatever comes out of Peter's mouth right now. Lord, we just ask you that this happens right now. David Chappelle halftime show. Sorry, I just had to pray that from.
Yellow Springs, Ohio coming in beaming in, But we need contributing acts, Peter.
It's Chappelle is the headliner, but then like Jerry Seinfeld comes out and does two minutes, you know, and.
What's the deal with the kickoff rule?
I mean, you got the kick, you got the landings on and that everybody just loves it, Peter. You know, since how many football season one we've been beating the drum for stand up acts at halftime.
I don't think they're interested.
No doubt, no nob how about a prop comic, can Carrot, can carrat top come out or we okay? Anyway, So I think that country might have its moment. I think country might have its moment, and short of Taylor Swift being the pop star that she is, but like you're telling me, Caine Brown.
Jelly Rolls, Shaboozy, Morgan Whalen, Zach Bryant, like, there are some major touring acts right now, and I think those acts of crossed over.
Into all genres. So just putting it out there.
I know we love our typical halftime shows of all the bells and whistle, but.
Maybe a country act this year in New Orleans just leave it at that.
Sure, the genius behind it all, it all starts right here on Good Morning Football. We and we out you're in on our show. We'll be right back as we think on that what Kirk Cousins would like as a.
Super Bowl halftime.
So, as we mentioned earlier in the show, and we can't avoid talking about it. The Jets and Giants have been having joint practices and yesterday after practice, the evergarduless Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner was asked about what it's been like going up against Giants quarterback Daniel Jones, and he had an answer.
What was your opinion or her takeaway on Daniel Jones.
He's a good quarterback, you feel me.
I thought I was about to pick him on today.
I had a little cloud rip.
No, he had looked at the last minute to try to throw the check down on one deal.
You know, I thought I had to pick but he kept it.
Oh me, man, the competitive periods, it was very competitive. Man, it was great. Like I have fun out there today. You know, I don't really know what to say.
Yeah, I've watched that clip now many times.
I think we all have.
And you know, I'm reminded of the state of boxing right now, where it's Jake Paul and Tyson Fury and Canelo, and put all that aside. The fight that is going on inside Sauce's head is so prolific. I would pay anything for it. I would pay the pay per view. It is Mickey Ward Arturo Gotti exchanging blows in the middle of the ring. It's little mac bald Bull, It's Creed Balboa.
Just the fight in that head.
And just as you think one guy's gonna win and he's in the guy, the other guy in the corner, then he comes punching back and he then settles on the like he had fun out there today. He's just looking for any phrase to say about anything. It is so entertaining to watch like that clip alone, I think is more entertaining than some of the Jets and Giants games will be this year.
It's my clubhouse.
Leader on August twenty second for favorite Press Comments moment, because every single human emotion is hit in about thirty seconds, and Sauce is a very loquacious guy and a very media savvy guy, and he knows that he's creating a moment as it's happening. He's like, how the hell do I get out of this? I know what people are gonna think. So then he runs to Twitter and says, I said he was a good qu quarterback. I just got distracted by something else. Yeah, in the hamster wheel in your head was going and going and going.
It's a fantastic clip.
And I would just say this and I'll let you guys hear Daniel jones stock right now is so so so low. That interception of the pick six and the preseason was the worst play you could ever see. Now there's this funny moment of everybody laughing at him. Daniel Jones opening game Minnesota Vikings at home.
You're playing the same team that.
Gave you that massive contract aus you beat them in the playoffs. If you got something in you that is a dog, you're competitor, and you're sick of being laughed at.
Please come out week one.
At home against the Vikings and play really good football because otherwise the jokes continue. That's the press conference moment of twenty twenty four seasons.
So call them out.
But Kyle thought, I thought Daniel Jones got a beard. It has swag, all right, Look this.
Is this is what we were hearing that.
Like I'll say this, Aaron Rodgers carved up that Giants defense yesterday, Sam Donold and Aaron Rodgers, like Sam Donald, if the Giants are feeling discouraged on defense line, the sad part is the Jets defense is so loaded that like Daniel Jones isn't gonna carve up that Jets defense. You're talking about Sauce, Dj Reed and all those guys. They might have the best nickel corner in the entire league. He was even out there yesterday, So like this is how good the Jets could be on paper. And for Sauce. I know, we love our friends at Omaha and Rich Goldberg, our old producers now working for Omaha and Tim Brown.
We got a lot of family at Omaha right now.
If you guys don't get Sauce on that Manning cast, it is a great failure.
I don't need Mark Wahlberg anymore.
I don't need Donnie Wahlberg, and I certainly don't need Kevin Hart anymore.
I need Sauce.
Okay, give me Sauce on the Maning cast at least once, and it does not have to be a game of any relevance.
Just give me Sauce Gardner more on TV.
Oh, give it man what he wants. He wants that sauce.
You know, like, I agree with you, Peter, because it's it is a great defense. It's a really, really good defense. And so it's no surprise that Daniel Jones struggled, you know, in this joint price against the defense. But man, did Sauce say a lot without saying anything?
You know.
I think about something my father used to always say. You know, in the Nigerian culture, they have all of these weird sayings, and he used to say, you can't hear the smell. I'm like, wait, you can't hear smell, Dad, you can't hear these smell And so in this situation, you literally can hear the smell. He ain't saying nothing, but you can smell. You can smell what he's putting off. I thought, this is, like you said, Kyle, this is one of the funniest things I've ever watched. I just kept watching it in loop and loop, and his body language is just saying everything you can you can hear the smell.
Well, I think everybody's mom probably told him, if you don't have nothing nice to say, don't say.
It at all. So I think that's zach of where Sauce.
Is that but in my head and what I think he was thinking was what Ricky Bible was thinking. I don't really know what to do with my hands riding. That's for the visual that I had whatever he was taught. But yeah, to your point, he said a lot would I'll say anything at all, Kyle.
I know you have a lot of takes on the third rendition of movies that sometimes you kind of run out of ideas when you get to the third. This is inside Out three, man, This is all of Sauce Gardner's emotions at the control table.
It's like doubt is.
Just shoving joy aside, and he's just like but skepticism and critical thinking and we don't be me but be nice and be kind, but just take it all down. And then the mute button comes in over top and it's just stop talking with us.
The anxiety.
Anxiety came in.
Inside Out three.
We just saw it happen during a training camp press conference.
Well done.
Well, can I just call out the Pixar people too? Don't you run away from Inside Out three? Riley's gonna be sixteen, seventeen years old. Who maybe there's a whole gamut of new emotions. You're gonna come into that control room. That movie may have to be a PG thirteen. I don't know what you're gonna do, but don't cower. I want to see the continued ascension of Riley. Don't do it the thing where like Andy passes the toys off.
The Bonnie and I want Riley.
We grew up with this girl, and I want the new teenage emotions to be part of it.
Don't be afraid pick sar. If you have to cut up at PG thirteen, we'll go with you.
And we talk all the.
Time about NFL guys getting into Hollywood. I think Sauce needs to be a voice in the Inside Out franchise just because of how that has gone down for us over the last couple of days.
Very good.
But there's Sauce's final say on what happened to I said he's a good quarterback.
I just.
Something something chill, chill, I know what you got it, I know what.
I'm distracted with.
My actual thoughts about him
