Published Sep 12, 2024, 7:34 PM

Hour One of the Good Morning Football Podcast begins with hosts Jamie Erdahl, Kyle Brandt, Peter Schrager, Akbar Gbajabiamila and Manti T’eo breaking down the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins matchup - do the Dolphins have a Bills problem? Peter quizzes everybody on NFL Trivia and then they touch on Caleb Williams’ opening performance vs. the Tennessee Titans.

Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in partnership with iHeartRadio.

Good Morning Football.

Hey, everybody, this is Good Morning Football pretended by old Trapper Beef Jerky live in Los Angeles.

Camera.

Get in here, Get in here.

My name is Jamie Rdall.

But honestly, at this point, it's roll call.

Okay, Op, bar Boja b and.

Miller here all right, Peter Schrager.

Here, okay.

Uh, Kyle br Brandt, roll call, Kyle Brandt tell me that I can't. Let's go next?

And is it? Is it?

Manti Tayoe Tale, Manti Tale, Yes, ma'am your president President, Okay.

My name right?

You are your shoulder did the work class. We're so happy to have you here today. It is a week two beginning, and so everyone turned your syllabus to the fact syllaby to the fact that Thursday night football is upon us. And we've got some interesting, interesting questions to get to. Specifically, do the Dolphins have a Bills problem? It's the lead block. The Dolphins play host to the Bald Bills tonight on Prime. The Bills have beaten the Dolphins five out of the last six meetings. It's a fact that Dolphins quarterback, to a tongue of Iloa is well aware.

Of that's going to be what's written out there. Until we do something about that, that's going to be the narrative that we can't beat the Bills. And until we do beat them, and we beat them consistently, like, none of that's going to change. And we have an opportunity to do that this year. We have an opportunity to do that this Thursday.

All right, Peter, so a, do the Dolphins have a Bills problem? And to a tongue of ILO's point, how do they erase the problem tonight?

Yeah, the Dolphins do have a Bills problem, and it's real, and it goes back to many years. Obviously five of six, but also four in a row. The last time they beat him was the Ken Dorsey game where Dorsey threw the tablet up in the box.

And they came so short.

Dolphins have some history with the Bills, though. Do you know that from nineteen seventy to nineteen seventy nine the Dolphins were twenty and oh against the Buffalo Bills, Like they just dominated that entire era. Twenty and oh that was in the seventies and then Marv Levy comes around, and the Bills kind of dominated the Dolphins. They beat him three and oh in playoff matches. Yet Marino and Kelly were like Tua and Alan in a.

Way, and that they would go at it twice a year.

The Dolphins, amazingly would go into Buffalo. They would hold their own Like eleven and seven is what Kelly was against against the Dolphins. It wasn't like it was. This deal with was fourteen. They have to fix this because never did Dan Marino go up against Jim Kelly and say, yeah, we know it's a problem.

We can't get past them.

The Dolphins would be there, they would be battling, and this is a different deal. You don't want to go through another generation of Bills and Dolphins fans where the Bills always have the Dolphins number.

I look at too it, you got your money.

I look at Tyreek Hill, you got your money.

I look at this, Mike mcdadel.

You got all your respect, you got your money, you got the contract. Win this game last year, Week eighteen. It was a win, and they had had a home playoff game and the whole deal.

And they go to Buffalo and they play in.

This big game against the Bills, or it's in Miami, msorry and they couldn't get it done. Couldn't get it done. Buffalo found a way. Josh Anentther for three undre and fifty nine yards was the best player on earth. They could not be No, this is a real problem. You can get paid, you could do all these things. You have to beat your division opponents. You have to be able to say, hey, every time we go out it it's going to be a battle, and we get them sometimes they got them one time, they got him one time, and a coach through his tablet, but they haven't gotten him in a while. And overall, josh Allen owns the Miami Dolphins. That's just what it is. They have to fix that tonight Week two at home, in that heat. Everything is stacked for the Miami Dolphins to win this game.

Find a way.

Yeah, Peter, you're right, because they're gonna have to. They're gonna have to take advantage while they have that home field advantage, you know, against the Bills, because especially when you look in the AFC East, if they want to be competitive, they got to take advantage of their next game against the Bills. Gonna be November third. We know that temperature changes November third up there in Buffalo. But you know, you said something going down the history lane, and he took me back to the playgrounds at Audubond Middle School when I used to have lunch.

Wagers, so to speak.

With Paul Smith.

I grew up liking the Dolphins because of the tech Moobowl. Only from Techmobow when they had the Mark Brothers, Duper and Clayton and John offerdal and Dan Marino. Remember that era very very well, and we would always come back and I would always end up missing out on lunch because Paul Smith would always beat me. He was an avid, avid Buffalo Bills fan.

I don't know why that is.

I just needed to share that story because when you said that, it just kind of took me back to that time. That was when Thurman Thomas and Andre Reid and Lofton and Kelly. I'm just going, can they ever get over it? Now we fast forward to now there's an opportunity, but now I don't think that they're going to be able to do it because you think about Raheem Moster, He's out of this game. They need that strong run game to be able to stand up to the Buffalo Bills and then you look at all the other pieces that they have around them. I think this is going to be a big time challenge for the Miami Dolphins to win. And to me, the Bills have half their numbers their number for a while now and gosh, good luck. I mean, that's one of those one of things continue the trend continues.

Yeah, I mean we talked about weather changes, We talked about the play in Buffalo and November. It's a different, different scene and weather, all of that stuff. But history may say that the Buffalo Bills has the Miami Dolphins number, but this isn't history. This is twenty twenty four. This is the Miami Dolphins. The Buffalo Bills are not the same team that they've been in the past. Starting from the secondary, you think of Tradavis White, you think of Micah Hyde, Jordan Poyer.

Guess where Jordan is that guys, He's in Miami, Miami.

Yea.

So we talk about the dominance that that defense has had over the years over tool and Tyreek Hill in company. A lot of that had to do with those two safeties that they had back there, those two all pro safeties that kept.

The roof over that speed.

And then you think about Josh Allen and he's dealing with new talent around him. He's dealing with I think last year, last week he threw the seven different targets and so he doesn't have the Stefan Digs, he doesn't have the Gabe Davis. And to the credit of Stefan Digs, he was somebody that was allowed that gave the Bills the opportunity to extend drives. It kept Tool off the field, it kept Tyreek off of the field. So with those two components alone, I think that the Miami Dolphins are it's gonna be a different future from twenty twenty four on. And you have Jordan Ployer over there at Miami Dolphins. You know he's in the ear of the colt right now.

We'll find out tonight. Y man, Ta, you make great points. I mean, this is not the same team, this is not the same defense. Everything. How much is it obvious? Is Tua just hates talking about this.

Two is such a good guy, he's good.

With the media.

He is already annoyed with this because it's looking in the Tua time with Buffalo is Let's just stick to facts. Before we get into opinions. Seven games against Buffley's lost him six times. He hasn't lost to any opponent more than three times. In those seven games against Buffalo's throwing seven interceptions, the most he has thrown against anybody. Josh Allen is eleven and two against Buffalo and there against Miami in his career. He has an idiotic forty one touchdowns in those thirteen games in the Tua Allen combined era. During that era, the Dolphins have lost us by twenty eight points, by thirty points, by thirty five points. Guys, the Miami Dolphins are why Josh Allen is in soda commercials, why he is in potato chip commercials.

They pay for his beach house.

I imagine the Dolphins and Dolphins fans hate it. They're tired of it. They hate seeing it, they hate seeing those commercials. They hate his beach house. They hate me talking about it.

So do something. Of course, you have a Bill's problem.

You know what, At some point, the Bills had a Patriots problem year after year after year, Patriots, Patriots, Patriots, and eventually the team changed, and then now they beat the Patriots all the time.

Listen to this.

If you want to do something about it. Two nights.

You were on a short week in primetime, a week after he was sacked twice, carried the ball nine times and took a bunch of hits against Arizona. You were playing in your home stadium, which he openly admits he hates. He does not like playing there. So beat them short week, primetime, your stadium. If you're sick of it, and you're sick of even this topic, and you're sick of the show saying he has a problem, We're right, you do have a problem.

Do something about your problem.

Specifically is we've seen these celebrities have a minority ownership stake and the Dolphins. That's j Lo and it's Serena, and it's Gloria Astefan, and it's Josh Allen has a state, So revoke it from him.

Do it?

All right?

These are just facts.

You know it.

I know it, We know it.

Do something about it tonight and we will applaud you like ladies and gentlemen.

All right, do it.

I always love, though, when the guys, the people that have the minority ownership, and they're like, this is this splashy person's in the stands and they made it there for Thursday night football.

Prime Video loves.

Shots like that of the celebrities, but a couple of things that are in the dolphins favoritet This point is that on a short week, just a recent trend has been the home team has won very frequently. Another easy trend to lean on is the fact that the Dolphins have started out hot the last couple of seasons. They've been two and oh three and oh Mike Daniel great in September. But to Kyle's point of the Dolphins making Josh Allen look good and getting him paid in his career, to a tunguo Illoa got his contract this offseason, we are seeing a different to a tungue of Iloa at the pressers, in his conversations that he has with the media, he has a different air about him. Perhaps it is one of confidence. It is the fact that this organization believes in me. I have this newfound respect and support from the team and the coach, and he's starting to feel himself as a professional. Mantay, you know Tua very very well. Why are we seeing a different tool? What are you seeing differently from him? Both at the podium, but also maybe what could transpire on the field.

Well, I see a tool of that's very lax.

Right now, I see a tool of that's very confident, and not only his abilities, but very confident in his feelings with his franchise. He knows, based on how he's paid, that he's going to be there for a very long time. And whenever you have that kind of confidence and that reassurance from your team allows you just.

To go out there and play lax.

We'll get down to different quarterbacks who are in different situations and the impact that it has on their play. But you think about Tool, you think about his leadership, you think about his command of that offense. I'm really excited for him going into this game. I'm always rooting for my little brother, and I'm looking forward to to sing all the new things that he's going to do. He has new tats now, it's about fifteen pounds lighter.

So he's locked in. He's ready to go. So I'm sure that tonight he's gonna put on the show.

I will say this one thing that with the acham being chen being questionable most start out, I mean that run game is critical for him to open up that passing game and that's the one thing concerned I have about them being able to change the narrative of history. So if they don't have that run game, I think we were looking at a different outcome.

I think to your point that the Miami Dolphins are like the Niners, where it's a system, right, you can plug and play people and put them wherever you want to, and it's going to be the It's not going to be the same exact result, but it's going to be the same result if you get what I'm saying. You know, we saw that with Jordan Mason on Monday Night.

To mantize point, one of the former Niners running backs is going to be Jeff Wilson. Who's there who every year, Jeff Wilson comes in and gets the job done.

He's never on your fantasy team, you never.

Draft Jeff Wilson, but he might get looked at on today for the Dolphins. Now, I will say this, if you're a Miami Dolphins fan, or if you're a Dolphins player or coach, you would have much rather had this game at one o'clock people on a Sunday instead of a short week, not in ninety degree humid weather, not with the sun beating down on Josh Allen. It's not ideal playing the Bills at night at home with a little chill in the air as opposed to the daytime. And I'll mention one name who's playing in Vegas right now and is not a part.

Of the game at all.

Christian Wilkins ain't there anymore.

And that was the guy who used to get under Josh Allen's skin.

That was the guy that Josh Allen would dread playing openly.

They don't like each other. Maybe they do off the field. On the field, they don't. Christian Wilkins is gone. Let's see how this goes, because I think he was a thorn in the Bill's side or something in the Bills, you know what, based on the way he plays in the pile.

I would say this. Without him on the field, I'd be wondering.

If Josh Allen and the Bills feel like they have a little advantage up front of the trenches. Okay, it's Thursday, and we do a segment here on Good Morning Football called Shregger's NFL Trivia. There's not necessarily a theme to this trivia segment.

Basically, it previews.

The matchups that we have in week two, and I'll give you some historical questions based on the franchises playing against each other. If we're new to the show, and if Mantai hasn't played or Acbar hasn't played.

Here's how it goes.

I work with our crack team of researchers and our great production crew and this wonderful gentleman named Chris McClain, and we're work together all of these questions and we're going to ask you, as individuals at the desk and Kyle here in New.

York question based on one of the matchups.

In week two, But we want you at home, the viewers, to play along and see how well you did. So, Manti, You're up first. Let's the Bears play the Texans on Sunday Night this weekend. Caleb Williams is going to start his first primetime game. The last first overall pick from USC was Carson Palmer. The question for you is Carson Palmer's first primetime television touchdown pass was caught by who?

Manti?

Your choices are shadow Chosenko, t J. Hushman, Zana Peter Warwick or running back Rudy Johnson.

Give it a shot.

I'm pretty good at Trivia's from the last one, and.

They said, I say B, I say B.

TJ Peterman, Zana Hoosh, California legend.

Now let's go.

Nope, Nope, not hush too, set DJ Hushbanzada. Let's go to the videotape two thousand and four. It's Bengals versus Broncos in primetime. Al Michaels and John Madden on the call.

Let's see it.

Third and sixteen.

Palmer will take us first snap out of the shotgun under pressure, steps up.

Don't be Oneada.

Fifty trying to think about a producer like Mile seven the Ladd. I think it couldn't be Chad Chad, Come on, guys.

That is it Chad Johnson, Chad o Cho Cinco of course. Now all over on inside the NFL and talking about some interesting things.

With shennon Shark last night. On to the next one. I don't be talking about I don't know not our content. We don't go there.

Next question, folks, this goes to our friend out in La Jamie Erda you are.

Oh Jamie.

The Titans play the Jets this weekend, not a historical matchup. Everyone thinks about one in twenty sixteen, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers were actually blown out by the Titans forty seven to twenty five, one of the weird games in Rogers's career where he had a huge day through for Randall Copp through Aaron Ray to Jordan Nelson.

Had a big day, but they got blown out.

The opposing quarterback the day that Aaron Rodgers lost by twenty two points to the Titans in Tennessee in twenty sixteen was a Ryan Fitzpatrick, b Ryan Tannehill, c Marcus Mariota or d Jake Locker.

Okay, Tannehill wasn't there yet in twenty sixteen.

Fitzpatrick.

I feel like in his.

History of I can't believe Ryan Fitzpatrick's did that. Fitzpatrick did that. That doesn't qualify historically on my list. I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go see I'm gonna go. See Marcus Mariota.

Okay, Jamie, you're on the board with see. The correct answer is see Marcus.

Moriota, You're in the game.

Let's go.

Let's go, jam Thank you.

Marcus Mariota had two hundred and ninety five yards and four touchdowns in this game.

Mariota lit it up. Delaney Walker ahead a huge that's Athony Paso.

Rogers did have three seventy one and two.

Tugs, but it wasn't enough.

Blown out, blown out by the Tennessee Titans with DeMarco Murray at running back.

Right there, Jamie, you're on the board.

Well done with Marcus mariotas, thank you.

Kyle you ready, yes, all right, let's go. I'm getting this stretch in here for.

The Vikings play the forty nine.

Ers this weekend.

The Vikings famously beat the forty nine Ers in the eighty eight divisional round of the playoffs. It's the only time the Vikings have beaten the forty nine Ers in a playoff game.

Nineteen eighty eight.

My question to you was the number one movie in America on January ninth, nineteen eighty eight was what a a film called rent a Cop, B, Moonstruck, C, Three Men and a Baby or d Overboard.

It's just so easy. You have to think about the pop.

Charts in nineteen eighty eight, which were the Pointer sisters and their song bad Bad, Bad Bad Boys make Me Feel So Good was one of the hooks to Three Men and a Baby inexplicably directed by Leonard Nimoy who played mister Spock. The story of like three middle aged losers who were single and just lived in an.

Apartment together by themselves, and there was a dead kid in the apartment.

It was really scary, and there was an inexplicable narcotic storyline wedged into the movie about the baby.

Nancy Travis shows up at the end. I saw it in the theater.

Not three men in a little lady, No, no, No, three men and a damn baby Selick dancing.

Gutenberg c is the answer the correct answer.

It's look at that lineup Selick dancing Gudenbo sisters faces.

And call them losers living in an apartment. They were living in probably a top three rent San Francisco city. I don't know where it was set, but like, how dare you you are? Top selic a loser?

Yeah?

It was listening those three guys just having nothing going on in their lives and living together like frat boys.

They walked so those ladies from Sex and the City could run.

I don't know what they had going on in their lives either. It was them first, but I got it right, and the question was too easy Peter, it's week two.

We should be better than that. It's real quick.

The question for you.

The plot line, A baby shows up at their door. They all three of them slept at the same woman wasn't No.

It was very confusing. It's a little bit like the show My Two Dads you mentioned earlier. It does turn out that Ted Danson was the father, and then Gutenberg and Celis became attached. Gutenberg was a cartoonist, Selick was an architect, and Dancing.

Was an actor.

And the end, Nancy Travis shows up with a British accident and she's crying and she's like, we're gonna all live together.

And then you have three minute a little lady, come on, let's go.

This is easy stuff.

With Nancy Travis when she showed up, didn't they they get married?

Yes, the baby's name is Mary, Mary Soccbar.

Are you ready, I'm ready.

Let's go all right. Back to football.

Okay.

The Seahawks play the Patriots this weekend, and two young defensive masterminds are looking to go to and O to start their careers. Mike McDonald and Girodmeo, two of the youngest coaches in the NFL, Ackbar who was the Seahawks defensive coordinator the year they faced the Patriots in Super Bowl forty nine. Remember down in Arizona, Katy Perry, Hello, halftime, Christmas Shard is A.

Dan Quinn is B.

Robert Salah is C. Or Gus Bradley is D.

Who is a defensive coordinator for the Seahawks that day?

That day? Oh boy, well, I know Chris very well, good friend of mine. Wasn't Chris so Gus Bradley dan Quinn? Uh no, what.

U is this?

This is twenty fifteen, twenty fifteen, okay, twenty fifteen, Well no it was Uh, that's dan Quinn, dan Quinn.

The correct answer, Ackbar.

Minute, you can say, go with the gun, go with the.

Gut the guy.

The correct answer. The correct answer, dan Quinn.

How let's go.

Let's go, dude.

Q was a defensive coordinator for the Seahawks both in twenty thirteen, where they beat the Broncos, and twenty fourteen, and their defense ranked the very best in the league for yards and points allowed both seasons.

He had already verbally.

Accepted the Falcons job when he coached in that Super Bowl, and of course he went on to the Falcons in a Super Bowl and is now with the Washington Commanders. Akmar, you're on the board A.

Good I'm our last one?

Wow, I'm mad right now?

Our last one is relevant to tonight's game and we all get a shot at this. It's a little game of freeze frame.

What happens is we show it, we freeze the play, and you have to tell us what happened. We have Bills Dolphins this evening, Week five of the nineteen ninety two season. Both these teams were two of the best squads in football ninety two. The Bills were marching down the field and they were down fourteen points against Miami in Buffalo.

What happens on this play that you're watching in a freeze frame? Here are your choices.

Jim Kelly hits Andre Reid for a touchdown. Thurman Thomas passes a ball to Andre Reid for a touchdown.

Louis Oliver of.

The Dolphins intercepts the ball for a touchdown.

Are they going to a reverse plate a.

Little don beebe for a rushing touchdown?

We're gonna go around the horle. We're gonna start here with Kyle.

Kyle.

Those are your four choices.

What happens on this play In a nineteen ninety two Week five showdown between two AFC East.

Ride, I think it's too short for a therm and Thomas fake pass. I'm just gonna go stock with an Andrea Reid touchdown, and I hoping we rolled the video. There's some like giant cigarette billboards in the stadium because you usually our background.

Out Jamie, then Ackbar, then Manti, Jamie, what do.

You think it?

Away?

Takes the edge off for me when the play happened when I was like five years old, So I just go for fun. I go for the video I want to see. To Kyle's point, I go for one hundred and three yard interception return for a touchdown just because I kind of want to see it.

Okay, all right, Matti and Ackbar, what do you guys think?

Kyle?

What join did you go? Kyle?

I went with a Andre Reid.

Okay.

I was one years old at this time. I definitely remember watching this play. It's a for me the same as Kyle.

Nice good job, but yeah, and I told the story of Paul Smith.

I was actually in the seventh.

Grade here in nineteen ninety two, and I don't think I ever ate lunch because the Bills were constantly winning. So I think the answer is Jim Kelly to Andre Reid touchdown.

Okay, all of the all the great guesses, let's find out. Let's go to the call of the game. Take it away, boys.

Often way out to.

The right, Lamb split left and Thomas in motion third and goals.

Intercepting It is.

Louis Oliver again, does he have a touchdown?

Kelly can't get him? Lewis Oliver?

Oh oh, way.

One O three will tie the record.

Said by Bency Glen of the Chargers in nineteen eighty seven.

No way, great job, Davis.

No, he's the ca.

Think like a producer, Kyle, you said it. I don't think it's that short of a play. You got to go for the electric TV segment. Peter always wants one hundred and seven.

Yard returns six days. Yes, Lewis Oliver.

One hundred and three yards.

It was the longest interception return in NFL history at the time with Vincy Glenn, and it was an amazing play. The Dolphins would blow out the Bills in rich Stadium that afternoon. Of course, the Bills would get the last laugh they would go on to play in the Super Bowl.

That's I talk you through this, so watch. It's gonna get a clean pick. I want you after the return.

Watch Jim Kelly trying so hard on the left side of the screen.

I got him, I got him, I got my own.

Nason, he's gone, Jimmy, were all hard, but that wasn't enough.

God touch down.

That was amazing.

Great trivia, guys, that's what we do show Thursdays. Let's go.

I just wanted to hear the music as it faded out. The music is great NFL films. We love you, we love the Vault, and we love Schreyer's NFL Trivia with a little three men and a baby sprinkled in there, Because what segment is it on TV if you don't see Tom Selek's.

Face, Jamie, I'm mad about that.

The first tweet that I got in response to that was that I obviously knew the question was coming and studied and prepared. Do people have any idea when I'm capable of this is what I do. This is me at work here. How dare you insult me like that? That was easy work?

Hey, we're back on Good.

Morning Football, wrapping up the hour. Last week, Caleb Williams, the rookie quarterback for the Bears, struggled technically speaking, but the rest of the team picked him up. The Bear special teams and defense secured to win for Chicago over the Titans. Now, during that game, one of the members of the Bears defense was wearing a mic. It's number one. He's the cornerback, Jalen Johnson.

Take a listen, let me check here. Hey, I check.

I will tell checking man. Yeah, yeah, that's all I'm saying today.

I said did not I thought I go to see.

The hell.

Yeah, appreciate you.

Get drifts back to throw, set to his feet, lunch is right and going down the field for Gridley breaking it up to jail and Johnson almost head pick at the two yard line.

You're in a great position to make that fun.

You gotta bring it.

Hey, you're gonna make the next one dead.

No, Hey, turnover, turnold love us, swallow it up, gets rid of it out. The last second, editor is intercepting down the sidelines of the twenty to the table to the five to the exode.

Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, I don't give me another.

Hey, fourth down conversion in the minute sixteen of playing the game, throwing down the field intercept to Jailor Johnson. It's had the thirty five Taylor Johnson with a pick the third Bears take away, and they are celebrating at Chicago.

We got so bad.

Oh yeah, I'm for a wake up call presented by Verizon. Watching defensive plays like that, Mike'd up, Manti, get you juice, It's like, you want to just get your take about it.

Man. It's so nice to see Jalen and his progression.

I was with Jalen when I was in Chicago in twenty twenty, is the second year in the NFL at the University of Utah. To see that progress, to see his leadership step up. I'm really excited about that Bears defense. My favorite guy really is Spider Man. They call him spider Man Kyler Gordon. He's our nickel corner. He gives them that luxury to stay in sub defense against base defense.

Looks he's that guy that's coming off the edge.

But when I watch his Bears defense and I watch their versatility, I watch how smart they are in football, their ability to their ability to disguise coverages. They want to stay in that two shell all day long. But you have guys like Kevin Byrd back there that comes down shows man and then he just retreats back like a Troy Polamogo back in the Steeler days to go play deep hafs.

So I really like this Bears defense. They'd like to get the ball, they.

Take the ball away, and I'm glad I had them on my fantasy football team, because.

Good somebody, it's good.

You know.

It's funny, Like you watch that game and you see it was seventeen to nothing, they come back, they win, and it's like, all right, Caleb got the win.

Onto the next one. It was at one o'clock.

There's nine other games that Bears defense and special teams single handedly won that game for the Bears, And if they didn't win that game, they'd be ohen one heading into Houston, and you're like, oh gosh, what a disastrous start this could be.

I need to see more out of Caleb.

I'm sorry that was disastrous Week one as bad as it could be if you're talking about coming off all hard knocks and all the hype and all the I'm not trying to be an alarmist here, but you can't rely.

On defense and special team.

This is in the two thousand Ravens like this.

Caleb needs to be better.

We can't rely on punt returns and punt blocks and whatever else. We got at interceptions every single time. So defense was great. Jalen Johnson's fantastic. I love Tyreek Stevenson and you mentioned Gordon. Really good defense for the Bears. But that can't be the way they're going to make the playoffs this year. Caleb has to be better.

Than what he was.

Want to know, no turnovers, no interceptions, no fumbles.

Listen, you get one of those, I think. And Jalen Johnson even comes over.

Jalen Johnson with DJ Moore probably the best players on the team, but by far for the most important players on the team. He comes over and says, we got you eighteen and they did. They got him for one. We can't carry you like this. That's fine.

It was your warm up game. You got a lot of expectations home field.

Okay, who cares. You didn't turn the ball over and we won. We're going on primetime against the guy against which you are going to be compared.

They're already being compared all you. But he says about Caleb is, well, you know ce j Shard did it. He did, he did it.

You can go out on Sunday night. You got at least throw the ball down field a little bit.

And he knows that.

There's I think it's very comfortable for people to have the Bears quarterback not be good. I think people like it, just like they like the Jets losing. The Bears don't have a quarterback show some people and make them a little uncomfortable. I don't need four hundred yards. I would like one hundred though, that would be good.

There's just something, Caleb, we got you.

You know you were talking about Jalen Johnson Manti and you know we saw that video and then Spider Man. They're gonna have their hands full. I mean, this offense is loaded with the Houston Texans. I think we saw what Dell can do, and we see what Collins and obviously Stefan Diggs. But the interesting thing too, is what Joe Mixon brings to this offense. I mean the way they utilize them. You talking about them staying up in that two shell, I mean that high two shell. That's going to be very interesting to see how they game plan. They're going to have to bring a lot of different looks for to stop the Houston Texans, but Joe Mixon changes the game and how the Chicago Bears are gonna have to play them.

I think what stood out to me too is just listening to Jalen and hearing him talk, and I love the fact that we can hear the players micd up. Is the confidence too that it is exuding through this defense that if you think about Bears football over the last couple of years, it didn't have the same sort of energy and confidence is like, I guess the best word that I can really think of.

So to see that.

Really exude and turn into points I think could.

Be could be something in Chicago well.

Speaking in personality coming out Matt Eberflus coming over and talking to Jalen Johnson in that clip. I think the more we get to know the head coach of the Bears, the more likable he becomes. But the storyline has to progress in order for Matt Eberflus to fulfill I think the expectation of the Bears. I cannot believe that in Week two on Sunday Night Football we get this basis of comparison between a c. J. Stroud and a Caleb Williams. Peter, to your point, you can run and hide in the one o'clock window when there's nine or ten games going on. But if I'm Kayleb Williams, I'm very focused on the fact that there is no other excuses when it comes to Hey, this is what geez H Stroud did and his whole first season. Now, Caleb Williams, you got to go out and play like that, you.

Know what, Jamie.

It's a great point, and I think Shane Waldron can do Caleb a favor here. Maybe get a little flea flicker in a deep pass, maybe have some trick play, get something going early so we get off the schneid. But Tarrico and Collinsworth and Melissa Stark will be there no matter what, and let's hope that Caleb is too,
