Good Morning Football.
Hey, everybody, welcome to Good Morning Football. You know sound some kind of fancy or presented my best? Fine?
Yeah, hello, best. Let's do a thing where we go to a Best Spy and go to the video game section and play in the controllers like we did back in the day, to stay there for hours. I'm in for that field trip, my dad.
You'd take me to Best Buy and I would just play with the fax machines.
I don't know if that simes you. How old I am? Oh yeah, I len.
The button in it, like.
Like going to the pharmacy and playing with the blood pressure coffee.
It all great parenting, Dad, my rookie year, I swear as God is my witness. I spent half of my my time on Tuesdays at a Best Buy just looking for Gadget to buy fun.
Did you ever buy him?
Of course? Okay?
Good.
I was gonna say, spend some of that rookie money. All right, I'm Jamie ear at all. That's talk bar buzza Bmilla Kyle Brandt. We are live here in Los Angeles. We have some beautiful football highlights to pay attention to Kyle. It's almost like the Taysom Hill sponsored lead block.
Did you see him blocking?
I know that he should do all blocking sponsor. I don't know if it was just me. One of the most reactive preseason weeks I've ever seen. It's time for the lead block every sponsored by Taysom Hill unofficially. First up, let's get to Packers Broncos. Jordan Love not playing, bo Nick's playing. I think it's fair to say promising, exciting. There's gonna be a pattern in today's show. We will not have our bugs killed about these rookie quarterbacks. Bo Nix is included that Broncos twenty seven to two score.
Dami, who knows?
Somebody looking up Jamie? What's next?
We were buzzed up on the rookie quarterbacks this weekend.
I take you to Saints forty nine ers. No rookie quarterbacks here? Sorry, how Shanahan was a clean shaven look in Deebo Samuel all right, rock party owner Center. He played three series, but call Tanahan, what are we doing this corner?
Somehow wins sixteen to ten.
I have to talk about Shanthan's harrison. What's going on with him?
What do you just quick take?
It looks unkempt. I think it's the word tever season.
It's fine, Yeah, it's right. He has other things that he's trying to worry about right now, Kyle, forty Niners win doesn't really matter. Brock Perty not sure what's going on there. So let's unpack it a little bit, shall we. Biggest takeaways Kyle from week two of the preseason. I think you gave us a little taste just now. You said you will not be stifled when it comes to your love for the rookie.
Quick mat, don't try try. I'm doing a little traveling this weekend. Yeah, family, you're here, Yeah, I know. We were in the Pacific Northwest. So my kids, my wife and everything were up in Seattle. And you won't believe this happens almost two weekends in a row. So I'm with my little nieces and nephews and everything, and they know I work in football, and they're trying to learn and stuff, and they.
Say, uncle, Kyle, just educate us.
What are some of the greatest, most memorable throws of the modern era?
And I go, what is sophisticated question?
Question?
The modern era. Yeah, modern air.
I love the way that he phrased that's my nephew got Clark. So instead of just explaining it, because you got to keep the kids attention these days, tennisman so short. I said, you know what, let's look at some video, and I brought out the tablet. I'm gonna do it right now. I'm just gonna say this is ten You guys are my nieces and napkin. I said, you want the greatest of the modern era, go ahead, roll them up, pretend this is the like an iPad on two percent charge that I was showing it to. Go ahead, here's some of the greatest throws. This is to the super Bowl. This is Aaron Rodgers.
You might have heard him.
Go ahead and roll the video taped over the middle. He's gonna find Greg Jennings against first ballot.
Hall of Famers Troy Plomba. Oh man, see, kids learn.
The big stage deserves the big throws.
But that's only one.
I'm telling these kids as they're eating their their untoasted pop tarts, let's go to the super Bowl again. Oh, this is Mario Manning from me like Manning to beat Brady for the second time in the Super Bowl, just to educate the kids understand appreciation for history and precipent. Then you want the greatest throw, maybe of them. Let's go to twenty twenty four preseason. You guys really understand this is Caleb Williams reverse pivoting out throwing across his body to another rookie. That's Roman Dune. Say so, guys, you see that these are some of the greatest throws you've ever seen ever.
I want the kids to appreciate.
Look up from TikTok for two seconds and remember all of these in catalog in your brain.
And I'll tell you this.
Remember this as well as I come back over to the table. This is a very exciting time for fans of Caleb Williams, for fans of any rookie quarterback, for fans of football. And yet there is a hive of professional buzzkillers who do not want that to be a thing because the second that flake the play came out.
You want to see what these people say. They get off on this.
They need a safe word for this. Bring the tweets took him a full two quarters versus second and third triggers.
Find the end zone.
Bears have found there God, don't ask me. I'm lookal get out of my face.
Next tweet.
Wow, second quarter of preseason game, remember too, hold that this blah blah blah preseason twitter sucks his handle.
I agree with it.
Give me another one.
Wow, he made a pass. Let's get him suited.
You people are so obviously desperate.
First of all, we are. Here's what I care, Jordan Bohmer.
The Bears fans are not ready. They've never had anything close to quarterback what they're about to witness. Jordan, you are a guy who digests quarterbacks, play in on out, day after day. I believe him more than anything.
Yep, there's a thing right now. These people.
I'm not even telling you to be excited. I'm telling you don't police the people who are. There's the kind of people who like they go to a magic show, whether it's at a kid's thing or like at some club in New York, and they spend the whole show. I mean, like, here's how we did that trick. That's not real, that's the whole show. You could go out with these people and get like your favorite dessert that you saw on Instagram, and the second you cut into they're like, yeah, imagine, no eighteen hundred calories.
The shut up.
I finally bought my dream house. I've worked my whole life for this and this.
If you get the keen to take the picture and they're like, wait till the property tax has hit.
Them, shut up.
I'm excited about Caleb Williams. And you know, everyone's like, oh, Nick Saban was on hard knocks and he's saying expectations kill. Due respect to Nick Saban, I don't think he's ever coached a quarterback. Is talented?
Is Kay Williams?
All right? So I think we're dealing with a whole different here, and you can look that up and challenge me all you want.
My buzz will not be killed. It's okay to be excited right now.
You go ahead and join me. It's fun.
Well done.
Do you people insist on making everyone down to your level?
You feel better?
No, actually feel me worse.
I keep cooking, man, I like that. I like this.
I'm just sweating on a five A. We have a twelve hour program. To already sweat in the first six minutes. It's because I'm excited. Come on in, the water is warm. I promise you'll like it.
I want to officially document that I was a part of the Jordan Palmer bandwagon this week because I texted you a highlight from Kay Williams and I said, I'm speechless. He's real, and you wrote back, he's come to save the people.
Just free the fremen. But you're not allowed to talk like that. You have to.
It's just like these people.
They go to a wedding, right and it's like beautiful wedding dream couple, like starry eyed looking at each other like everyone's like, oh, and these people are at table twenty six and they're like, honeymoon phase, wait till the kids.
Come, divorce, Just enjoy the moment. Maybe it will come.
Maybe Caleb Williams will have a five interception day and he maybe, But just now, if you're not enjoying, now, do you even enjoy football? It's okay, they're buzz killing everything. Yeah, you know what, We're.
Cool, right, yeah, we're good.
Yeah, okay, by going by what's going.
Look, I am not trying to pooh pooh on the Chicago bears Ome. My god, dude, clib Williams. I love what I'm saying out of Caleb Williams. It's spectacular. But a little bit of me, like the wedding you're talking about, a little bit has to do with the flowers and the lights and the tuxedo and the gowns and all the right hold on though, on the other side of town, though, there's something just as special that we're missing out on. I'm not hating on them, Okay, what do you got, But we're not paying attention to something that is developing over in DC. Maybe because of politics and stuff like that, But Jane Daniels looks spectacular. I mean, we're not talking about that. And he's doing a lot with less like over there Caleb. He's hard knocks and the cameras, all the beautiful stuff, the Keenan Allens. Jade Daniels is working with a bare bone of what Caleb and the Chicago Bears have.
I'm right, this has got to work.
That's great. Keep going.
His numbers have been impressed. Tell they they have. And I know it's pre seeds going let's.
Just go oh crazy, But I mean, take a look at this right here. I want you to take a look at this chart because and you.
Should celebrate I got a chart. Yeah, you should celebrate.
That of of Caleb Williams.
Do you get him the chart?
Here we go twelve, the fifteen.
That's eighty percent if you're doing the maths, good, eighty percent of this passes he's completed.
And then look at this. They both have rushing touchdowns. Look at the passer rating.
Love it.
How come we're not celebrating Jayden Daniels and we're not jumping for joy for Jaydan Daniels.
Everyone look at me, where's my camera gone?
And in a single look at me, Look at me.
I am the conductor of this Jadeen daniel Iel's hype train. I am the one who's going to leave this hype train.
Because the dude looks confident. He reminds me.
I know, I'm telling you, he reminds me of a young special star.
And I'm telling you, go on, go on.
I've set this name before, and you guys already know my infinity for basketball, especially in his sadies. He is and I know Magic Johnson's a part of the group, okay, but he is the young Magic Johnson. He is the young Magic Johnson for the NFL. And you watch, Jane Daniels is gonna ball out, man, he is going to ball out he's putting the ball in tight windows, he's making he's improvising, he's showing what he can do athletically. But yet we're not out here going for I want to get on this table, but I waived myself today. I'm two sixty eight, so I got to lose some weight. But I will break this table, but I would jump on this table for Jane Daniels.
That's so good. I thought you were about to say that you were the captain now and I was. I almost got goosebump.
You're driving it.
I like it, but I'm the conductor. It's the train, so I'm the conductor.
Jamie.
The sticker out of the table says the capacity here's two fifty. So I'm glad you weide yourself do battle tested at two sixty eight.
Hawkbar is so good at just these weird.
Subtle like he slides these things in like I'm two sixty eight.
What was the other thing?
I don't know. He's just like amazing. It's just like, by the way this is, this is a little something about me. The hard part of this job is like you take it to a ten.
You're taking it.
You're matching him, And now I feel like I have to kind of swing under maybe at.
Like a come up to the ten. It's fun.
It's the fun up there. Can I take you back to the screen, sway, I want to take you to the screen.
All right, Caleb, that's beautiful.
Something is Caleb Williams.
Okay, we got Oklahoma USC pedigree, Arizona State, LSU, and then where Northwest Mississippi Community College, the Eastern East Carolina Pirates, and.
Then the Koog's Washington.
That is Gardner Minshew, And that is your started quarterback for the Las Vegas Raiders.
Now bring the flip flops.
You know, I think high heels are too high maintenance. Anyways, people like to get all fancy in Las Vegas.
Well not me, thank you very much. They have flowers on them. Yeah, we got we have. The flip flops have arrived in Las Vegas. I love it. There is no Let let me wait a couple of days. It wasn't a great showing over the weekend. Fine, it's about the greater body of work.
It's about the fact that Antonio Pierce clearly has a feeling about his team. Aidan O'Connell, it sounds like it's kind of a mess within the offense. So he's going with Gardner Minshew and for his intent as Antonio pierces about everything how he's running his team, and he's saying, the healthy guys will play.
I don't care if you're DeVante Adams or not.
He goes, I have a sense about Gardner Minshew running this offense.
So if we're gonna.
Lead block it with Caleb william the first overall pick, Jan Daniels the second overall pick, and then Gardner Franking Minshew the starter for the Las Vegas Raiders.
I don't know.
The anc West is something that I'm kind of falling in love with, you know.
What the people are saying. They're saying, yeah, but Jamie, he's failed in other places and this.
Is a short team in six years, and I don't care for that.
I don't care.
I'm going the Kooks slash by Way of the Pirates and whatever. Northwest Mississippi Community Colleges. I'm sorry, I don't know your Mascott's sorry. The Sun Devils and the Go Tigers and the Sooner and the trojans Man.
That was tricky.
What is that? What will Ferrell's driving in the car and I don't care. I love it. That's how I feel right now. But anyone tells me to calm down, I'm not going to do it. Trust me. Week two, if these guys are all owing to them, we'll have a different conversation.
All right, somebot that blue helmet, We just take it and best fine.
Thank you for bringing the juice this morning. Here we go. Guess who we got?
Oh it's the Northwest Mississippi bear Cats.
Thank you very much. Guess who's on the network this week? The Beart Skyle's.
Back dueling Spider Man right there? Guys, can you even tell them apart?
They're the same picture?
Pam, I know.
The real one is.
The final week of preseason. Then they play for real. It's Kansas City will take on the Bears Thursday and I kick off eight twenty eastern right here on NFL Network.
This is good. It gets us in shape for watching football on Thursday.
I see the face of the NFL playing against mahomes.
Hey, where do we stand in Pittsburg? Oay? Is it dire? Do we go into dier there?
Because we just led with optimism and now we have Steelers starter and we have a question mark after it.
Yet they have two guys that should have been winning the job.
At this gay. Yeah, that one's gonna be tough to get to ten on that book. Try it. We'll try to do it. All seventy eight segments we do this morning. And then there was this this a real game sort of, it's not practice, it's not Ai Homestead behind the back pass and there's controversy about it. There's like a whole Subpruder film about this thing.
We got to break it down.
There's grassy knolls and behind the backs, and then this Caleb wall is one of the greatest throws in the modern era GMFB and had just lost their minds.
Caleb of the K, Caleb and the K. We do not live to Caleb game.
These guys go out there, they watched the All twenty two. They're like, that guy's a backup, he's third drink.
Just enjoy.
Oh y'all all want today.
Mom.
There was a time not that long ago when the start didn't play in the preseason great out. Now they do, and they give fis bumps the little cheerleaders. Patrick Mahomes starting again, second straight start. We're faking. And then we're round the damn backing if you didn't see this, I don't know where you've been all weekend, but this really happened. Mahomes around the back, kind of a wobbly one, not a perfect spiral. Kelsey goes down to get it with those beautiful yellow gloves. We're gonna break this down in great detail. After when Carson wentz of ball. People just sitting there smiling. Forshey, Rice, Chiefs all coming up.
Twenty four to twenty three.
The Lions won the game, if you care the nuts. So the Lions did win, but no one really cares about that. We're gonna talk about the Chiefs afterwards. The question of the game was all right, the principles involved Kelsey Mahomes talk to us about the around the back pass in the game.
Travis didn't run the route he was supposed to run, and then it was kind of a behind the back pass kind of because I was mad. I was pissed off at Travis. He was supposed to run a flat route. I don't know if you can hear me on the broadcast. I'm yelling at him and then he doesn't run it. So I had a spite I'd do it behind the back pass. But now it's gonna be a highlight. And we had a kind of RPO type thing going and he was the guy I was supposed to throw it too, and then I got stuck with the football in my hand and I gave I was just like, gosh, darn it, Travis, and I threw it behind my back.
You know, he's got the voice thing, and so he kind of mumbled out the play. I couldn't hear it. I was walking up to the line. I was like trying to decipher what he was saying. Before I knew it, he snapped the ball and I kind of saw him out of my peripheral run to the sideline. So I was trying to go help my guy out. By the time I looked over there, he was already in mid form, like a photo on a sports card, throwing the ball to me. So it was just I guess, right place at the right time.
Pretty cool.
I's got so many layers to this.
First I started with Okay, so mahomes the way he described that going down is that took three seconds maybe for that entire thing to transpire, And the way Maholmes talks about it took him three minutes to explain well, first I was yelling at him, and then I realized he was running the wrong route, and that's why I decided to Yeah, it all happened so fast, and then Travis Kelstick, I'm just gonna help my guy out. It just there's so many angles to it.
Kyle much Bs too, Like they're all just they're all like in on the joke. So this goes in the catalog, like it goes in the mixtape of all the stuff that he's done. Let's just take a look just to put it in context. Let's look at that mixtape of some of the unusual pros. Yeah, I mean, I don't have any music to it. We get sued, but like, all right, let me see some of the Patrick mahomes over the years. Unusual throws. All right, so this is a classic. This is von Miller, one of the best of the game. Switches to his left hand, throws at the Tyreek. That's in a primetime game. Now he's against the Chargers. Here he's gonna go side arm through about six different people. That one's for a touchdown. Now against the Buccaneers again in prime time, looking and looking wait, he waits dodges spin and I mean this is his and one mixtape. This is skip to my.
Louke even there.
This is escalating hot sauce the professor name, whoever you want. This is a side arm laser to the back corner. This is tough for me to say about the behind the back because I just an entire segment about not buzz killing things.
Don't better not, you better not.
I think it's awesome. I loved it. I watched it a bunch of times. Okay, preseason, Okay, it's fine, that's a Mahomes is already established. I don't want to. I don't like buzz killing the rookies. Okay, all those things we just showed the left hand all that, those are big time primetime games. This I feel like was done as a little bit of a gag, like almost deliberately, Like I think that they plan to do it, which is why they had all their jokes afterwards. All those other things are in the moment, not scripted, impromptu. So if he does this in the middle of a game or a broken player scrambled, then I'll do double backflips right now.
It's really cool.
I'm not saying it's not cool. I'd love to see it. In a real game.
You know what, I agree with you. I actually think that they were out there clowning around. It was a joke and on purfect quoting, they were telling everyone we're gonna threepeat and you can't stop us. First off, they don't mess around and allow this team to get Xavier worthy, I know. And then he's saying, you know what, we can get out into our arrow head spread offense and we can just chunk it at any given will.
But you guys already know we can do that. Right, I'm gonna go ahead and do the around the back.
But here's the thing that really got to me, where I said they are truly clowning around. He said that I was mad at him, and to prove a point, I was going to throw it around the back. When I was growing up, if I did something wrong and my dad got mad at me, I got the belt, all right, I got the belt. It's not a bad thing I appreciated growing up, if you say so. When I was on a team when I played basketball and I did something wrong, I didn't do the right thing.
They didn't pass me the.
Ball right, he freeze them out.
He's saying, I am mad at you. You ran the wrong route, and just to prove my point, throwing around the back and get you six seven yards. They got a first time you right there that was showing off on another level, that was stutting.
These dudes are stutting on the league right now.
I don't like either of you this morning. What just happened in the last twenty four minutes. We come on, we're all happy about best Buy sponsoring the show, and then we're talking, but we're talking rookie quarterbacks and we're all high on life and we're eating candy and it's great. And now you have to go a dact you to tell me that for also clarification, both said once each that you're calling it around the back pass. It's behind the back, behind the back behind.
You both did it once, okay, around me, Yeah, I think it's not around.
I think it's round the back, around the back pass.
Was gonna change it, okay, so as it pertains the behind the back pass. I don't agree with either of these people that I say at this table.
Sure does they have.
It in his arsenal of options for certain plays and had they break down, he could do it. But do you know how specifically late. The defender chasing him has to be in order for it to work. He can't be like, hey, fifty three, can you run just slightly ahead of Kelsey as he.
Runs this up?
So I can't accomplish this because otherwise he's just gonna whip it around behind the back into someone's gut. So it's not It has nothing to do with what Mahomes does, what Kelsey does. It has to do with how the play breaks down.
So I will not buy into the fact that this is planned. I refuse to come seep to your levels. You two of that. This is only preseason. It was magic and I liked it, and now I'm angry.
Can we see video again?
Then?
Let me just I want to pay attention. So it's like a Sai ravis Kelsey's eyes. Can we play that video again?
I need to see it again, just one more time, because I'm gonna see and confirm if in fact this was and kind of an impromptu thing. May yeah, I'm wrong, but if his eyes are looking at Mahomes, there he is, where is he?
Where is he? He's looking for him? Come on? I mean, of course, of course, And on top of.
That, we saw something similar to this on one of the videos that was snuck out of camp. We saw that he looked straight for him one more time. Let me see it right here. He does the little fake block boom and comes right for it. He knew this was a screen. This is a tight end screen to him. He already knew fake fake, faked the block and then boom, tight end screen around the back. This was calculated.
This was film.
Stutton on the highest level. They're putting the entire league on notice. They're saying, we can do around the back. We got Xavier Worthy and oh, by the way, we just messed around and picked up the best punter in the world.
To god in matter race.
Why would I raised to find his way into the conversation, because why.
The squeeze him inbo You know why? Why? Why why tell them?
Tell them, tell them, Oh yeah, where do you go to college?
I love Marshall fulk I love it. He got robbed by Gino Touretta. I'm sorry now that the thing by the by Kelsey Mahomes. It was it was like a sketch, like incomplete with the setup, the punchline and the delivery. And you know why they were all joking afterwards this is actually a little bit serious. I think that they did not want to disrespect the other team that like they're messing around. I think that afterwards they kind of denied that they planned it, because if you're like, oh, we're going to plan it behind the back pass, it's like, I don't know. It's a little bit like we're doing goofy stuff out here in purpose, which they were.
I liked it. I loved it.
My point is like if they did that on Monday night football against the Raiders, our minds would all explode right now. It was like a cool thing he did in preseason.
Yeah, I'm just partly frustrated. I'm trying to follow the show. I follow your energies. I do as the gentleman at the table. You know that that's the job of the host of a show, is like take us down the road. Where are we going? Emotionally? We were here and then you just like nose dives us right down emotionally all because of around the.
Battle, different levels. That's what they tell me.
You're very, very verse, very Madeline.
Tells me I have to change it up all the time.

But there are a couple quarterbacks that you need to watch, and those decisions are still being decided. Before Week one, the competition with the Raiders is resolved as Minshew Mania takes over the Las Vegas Strip. Head coach Antonio Pears making the announcement Sunday, Gardon Minshew will be the week one starter, beating out Aiden O'Connell, pure saying they feel Minshew gives them the best opportunity to get off to a fast start. That was in two preseason games, Minshew through two hundred and twelve of ours, one touchdown and no interceptions. Now, Rams head coach Sean McVay says quarterback Matthew Stafford might miss some practice this week dealing with hamstring tightness, but do not worry Rams fans. McVeigh says Stafford will be ready for the season opener against the Lions, and despite not playing his starters in Sunday's preseason game against the Broncos. Head coach Matt Lafleur not happy with the performance of his offense. Cofill to put up any points on the board before spoke after the game, and it sounds light there still could be some roster spots up for grabs.
I was hoping that our guys would come out with more strained effort grit after kind of getting humbled the other day in practice and then to have it happen again now where we want to be offensively, just want to see more fight from our guys. That was frustrating, just the lack of ability to move the football, both in the running game and in the passing game. So we definitely just got to reevaluate and take a good long time heard look at everybody.
Well, still one game to figure it all out. The Packers these preseason. They faced the Ravens in that final preseason game Saturday, So hopefully Laflora sees what he's looking for from his offense at least in that one.
Guys, Sherry, you know, thank you very much. We've really hit all of the emotional spectrum so far.
Today.
We've gone optimists we've gone pessimist and now are we going alarmists on the Green Bay Packers and their offense.
He looks dejected, looks deected. But I mean, I think it's like, well, slow down, it's the preseason. You weren't playing with your ones, you know, not all your ones when they're you don't have your star quarterback in there.
Relaxed.
But he's trying to see some of the other pieces in what they have, because that's the makeup of any team. The fifty three men rosters to me, has never been about the star players.
It's about your role players.
Yeah, he said he wanted to throw up after the game. Coach like Jordan lovedn't play. Your quarterback didn't play? I understand. And the context is he said it there Apparently they got beat up really badly in the practice and the joint practice. So it's like, let's come back. I can show for ourselves in the game. Apparently they didn't, but it's it's backups. I think the stress level over him is high because they got to get prepared to go to South America week one to play the Eagles. Like that's even different. It's not like they're hosting the Titans Week one at Lambeau. It's a very challenging opener. So he, more than anybody other than Sirianni, has to really get the team ready. But if they're out there with love for six series and they can't get a first down, then I would say sure, alarmists. But he's just mad and he's sending a mess to Actually.
It's kind of like having a home insurance and your home insurance is not good enough to kind of help what it doesn't cover it?
Yeah, yeah, it doesn't cover it. It does, And so that's what he's looking at.
He's he's stressing out about, like, I don't know if my insurance coverage can can cover what we have, right, that's what our policy, the policy is. He's just he's evaluating it and say, hey, where do I need to kind of plug in the hole or fix the holes in this insurance policy. So I think he's going to be great. I don't think he needs to overreact like that. I mean, my goodness, let me just he's just.
Saying he wanted to throw up.
As for the game, I think so were worried about mat La Flora. The second time he's referenced vomiting in the last week, because he's the one that also told us you people talk about wide receiver ones. I don't care that I don't have water receiver one. That term makes me want to throw up. Now we're going two for two one.
Well, you've seeing the tenets of the Green Bay diet. I mean then with the people lead up there, it's like this, I love it. It's amazing.
Are you Wrotsworth guy? Say the word Brotsworth brought worst?
Brosworth Nope, Brock Brock Nope, Brock brought brought worst worst?
Oh, Brock worst, Like it's the worst. What were you calling it? Broxworth?
That sounds like a butler or Somethingworth Brown only on purpose.
I guess I'm from LA. I hate vegan stuff, Like, what are you talking about?
They make Vegan brought worst. I'm sure at some point it's good. Isn't your brother live in Green Bay?
He knows?
Yeah?
How dare you be able to go to.
Johnsonville broth Worth?
At this point?
Coming up, we're gonna unpack what off Bar just said, plus what happened over the weekend.
We have an in depth discussion.
It really does say that about the Steelers quarterback situation.
Say the word dock bar, what are they eat up? Aramiscone Rocks worse, No Rock, Rock Brock worse, Rock Lesnard.
Yeah, Rock Rock dropped me down when you said I wanted to.
I can't throw you because you already told us you're Twitter at sixty accounts.
But oh, Vegan Bronx probably have Vegan Brocks.
Definitely good football, all right, Rock and roll Commanders, Dolphins.
Jade and Daniels.
Ackbar was hyping them up earlier. It doesn't get as much attention as Caleb Jane Daniels fin is ten to twelve seventy eight yards mostly short stuff. Also ran two times for thirteen yards, just played just two drive tua to a tongue about Noah of the new contract. So it looked really good, really good. Five of five fifty and a touchdown a one drive. Get off the field, young man. See you in the opener. I like it, Dolphins when if you care what you don't do to have played well? So, Jada Daniels, can I interest you in.
Some Steffan digs in the Texans uniform? He is in town from his time in Buffalo.
C J.
Stroud looking ever so comfortable and confident in the second year of quarterback connects with Stefan Diggs as his first catch as a Texans.
Stroud went seven for ten eighty eight. He looks great. Different story for Daniel Jones.
Okay, you could read a lot about what happened to Daniel Zones over the weekend. But the point is you're in the end zone, you are scrambling and then you give the ball to.
Jalen Patrie who returns it for six.
Yeah, I can do that.
You can't do that. You can't make that decision. Daniel Jones finished the.
Game with two picks, could have had a third very easily, and frankly, that's how they started.
It was just so brutal. But man Malik Neighbors is.
Shining the rookie wide receiver. Neighbors finished with four catches, good for fifty four yards. Texans beat up on the giant switch lent to a lot of question marks about Daniel Jones coming out.
Of the weekend. We shall see, we shall Jamie.
What shall we see next? How about Bears Bengals. Let's go to Soldier Field. There is mouadib Lisan. It's very, very exciting It's just electric, That's all I can say.
I can't wait to watch Hart Knocks tomorrow.
I know right right eight tyreek Kill hit us with a dot dot dot in his tweet about Caleb Williams that one was finished with optimism.
This is the Steelers quarterback is dot dot dot. That's Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. Wilson gets the start.
He sat out last week because he had a calf injury.
He was sacked three times.
He played most of the first half, and it went way to Justin Fields, who had an intended pass here for Connor Hayward after he boots out to the right skips off his hands. Steelers lose nine to three. And I believe the stat line was the two quarterbacks together combined like one hundred and thirty nine yards of offense. So regardless of what direction you go in between the quarterbacks, it's not looking great for the Steelers quarterback quote unquote competition. How does this make you feel, gentlemen, about the quarterback situation as we see it unfolding in Pittsburgh.
Well, you guys know, I've said for weeks I think Field is gonna start Week one. Yeah, and a lot of that had to do with rust Wilson be an injured at the time, but right now it's just not working for either of them. If you had to pick a starter, now you go with Fields since he brings more to the field, so to speak, like he can just do more. But there was a point of debate over the weekend and a point of controversy having to do with one play that Justin Fields was involved in. A big play and one of the biggest reasons they didn't score any points. Role to play, Field is gonna throw deep to the end zone and it's going to be a miss, and he's going to go to this wide receiver TJ Luther, who has been a practice squad guy around the league, and it is just this awkward timing thing. And you know, the armchair quarterbacks take was TJ Luther jumps fifty feet in the air and the throw is so inaccurate that he still can't he still can't catch it. And I completely disagree. I think it was really strange at the end of the play the way he kind of stopped running and jumped. And take my advice for it if you want, but maybe take the greatest set of hands to ever play the game. Chris Carter was tweeting about this not a good route by the wide receiver, hesitates on the post move and loses his momentum. He came in and tried to shut the conversation down. That's uncle Chris, who's an old friend of ours, and everyone's just destroying Fields for the throw and Chris Carz noh a terrible route. He completely ruined it at the end of the play. So we can nitpick the throw all you want, We're just not going to say. I'm not saying that Justin Fields is Steve Young in terms of accuracy, but I'm just not going to sit here and watch the crucifixion of him for throwing one bad pass and everything. Everybody thinks it was the worst pass of his career. I don't think it was. I think there was a bad chemistry and bad finishing by the receiver, and I more than more importantly, like, where's Russell Wilson's one that he just missed? Like he just didn't have it. He wasn't looking like any of the old Russ magic. I don't think he's that guy. I think Fields will start Week one, and I think he should.
I see it differently.
I mean Russ was eight to ten, so but yes, he didn't have a lot of the you know, scoring and whatever and the rest that we used to seeing. But I will say this that offensive line can't block for nothing. I mean they were after Russ and Russ is not the same, doesn't have the same mobility that we saw in past. I mean, so when you're under this constant duress, it's hard to show what you what you can do, you know what I mean. But I think, just like what we're seeing with the Raiders and that Antonio Pierce decided that he was going to go with the known factor, not the upside, and he decided to choose Gardner Minshew. Now I happened to be on the Aid and O'Connell side of this, and where I think that, you know, they should have given him the opportunity because the.
Upside, and that's sense you think they choose Ross because no, But I.
Think in this situation that logic applies that you want to go with the quarterback who you know what he's capable of doing. We don't know what justin Field is capable of doing. And with that line, I would rather have a Russell Wilson than I would want a justin Fields in this situation.
I mean that line.
If you watch and look, I'm like, yo, man, these dudes can't block a thang.
Well, don't want the faster runner then, like just get the hell out of there. And I Fields just played behind some backs.
You can only run for so much.
That's not an effective offense, right, you can only run for so much.
I think you're trying to speak life into the ghost of Russell Wilson though that was playing on Steelers teams that or excuse me, Seahawks teams that were excellent defensively and their run game was so dynamic.
The Steelers defense is really good.
But like Jalen Warren might be hurt now, like for the next couple weeks, got a hamstring injury. Najie Harris just hasn't been the running back we thought he needed to be past five yards.
The past couple of years.
So I disagree with you that we're trying to live breathe life into the Russell Wilson experience, like thinking that he is going to come back to us. We have this whole list and Kyle does this great job of quarterbacks that on their third team. They had an awkward second chapter on their third team of clicks. I think we might have to start creating a list of guys that it just didn't happen on that third try.
It's not good.
Well, I think we can agree on this, Like it's also time. It's time to announce a starter. The Raiders just did it. Everyone's doing. They have one preseason game left. It's next Saturday against Detroit, Like, do you really want to let it go that far? And you're going to do this again where they both play, I mean fields just through twenty three passes like there was a big workout for them. So I feel like this is the week for Tom to do an ounce it. I feel like that was Russ's night to get it, and I don't think he did.
They're going off this one preseason game, one preseason game. I don't count. What he did with the Broncos was just whatever. But it's one preseason game. They're going with Russell Wilson. Wow, shot, Mike Tonland, listen to me.
I will save this clip.
Go Russell Wilson, Mike you know me, Russell Wilson.
That's all I'm saying. This is gonna be great. You know, Mike, you don't know me at all. We've never met justin fields. That's all I'm saying. You don't know me, Maybe never will meet justin fields. We'll play one of these clips back soon.
Hey, we're back on googrny football.
We're here in Los Angeles and the town is preparing for the LA Olympics coming here in four years with the addition of flag football as a sport. But some flag football players, like Daryl who'shu said, who is the quarterback for the US national team for flag football, has takes on the fact that NFL.
Players are assuming that they are just going to earn a.
Roster spot on the Olympic team because they played tackle football. Daryl obviously as takes on this. He said, given the guys who helped this game get to get to where it's at, it's at their respect in terms of he feels it's disrespectful for them to automatically.
Assume they'd be on the team.
Kyle, this is one of the first takes we've actually heard from an authentic flag football player saying, hold up, just because Jalen Hurts can throw a football that's on fire into the coliseum, doesn't mean you're just going to play flag football.
Yeah. I really respect the quote, and I respect Hohosh, and he's been out there for years doing it, and he's been the face of this. He's been their best player, and he's out there for years and years building flag and now he's got to look and say, oh, the Tyreek's going to just do my job. I completely understand it. I think the problem is is that I would look towards the nineteen eighty eight US men's Olympic basketball team, the last team that did not have NBA players. They want a bronze medal. Everyone lost their minds and since then we've unleashed the NBA on the Olympics. The spirit is, once you can go from playing flag football and doing all these amazing events and growing the sport, the second you have USA on your chest and you're in the Olympics, you want the best players in the sport, no matter what. So if I was Hohosh, I would say, yeah, I would love the NFL guys to come help the team, and I'd love to compete against them. If we can have a t we can see who is the best player. And if I do go out there and perform better than whoever the NFL player is, then I should represent the country. If they come out and they're better and they're playing the game better, then I would gladly step aside and let him represent the United States in my spot. But it is a meritocracy. As much as we respect what he's done. Once it's Olympic time, don't go out there and get a silver medal. You know, football we invented this right right.
And look, I think he might be, you know, sipping on some of the Jews from his past success.
And no doubt about it, the dude is a baller.
He can play some flags well. You think back to when they had the million dollar Game against some of the big names like Michael Vick and Jason Levant and.
Chattel tis one.
But he played very very well against the names, not the guys in their prime. You all of a sudden, like you said, you go out there and you're representing the USA, You're gonna put your best players out there. You're gonna get the Mahomes, You're gonna get the Kelsey's, you're gonna get all of the big the Tyreek Q. You would literally create the supreme team to go out there and dominate in flag football.
I'm sure the NFL player don't mean disrespect by assuming they're going to be on.
The team, but the thing is on hard knocks.
Last week, Caleb Williams said, give me time to train and I want to do it. Joe Burrow has said I would love to win a gold medal with Jamar Chase and Justin Jefferson, his teammates at LSU appreciate.
Again what Ju said has done.
However, this is not like the Olympics are starting next week and like this is the first time these guys will play flag They have four years to prepare, which you give these guys, the greatest athletes at this sport, four years to prepare for anything.
They're going to crush it.
Yeah, and to your point, it is a different game.
It's a totally different games and it would take these guys about six weeks. All these guys who've ever played tackle football have played some form of flag football, so it's not a foreign game to them. It takes them about six weeks to get the mechanics down.
I think ideally we could have a nice mix of these guys who upbuild the sport and then the best players in the NFL, because listen, when we start doing this, we want on the hellel on those teams. We're America.
Yeah, goals
