Good Morning Football.
It's a Monday, we're into preseason. This is Good Morning Football present of my harbor A Fraids. We have some attendance to take in the corner of the boxes. Peter Schrager, Kyle Brandt, this is akbar Bushbiamilla. That's David Carr. I'm Jamie Erdol. David, welcome to the breakfast.
Table having me. Hey, it's a pause.
So who did you lose a vetchoo that you had to be dragged in here at five minutes?
Tried to set my alarm and Kyle sit me up this morning. He's like, your alarm tried to cancel you. I'm like, it didn't.
Let me do it. It won't like me to my face.
I like, no, we really have to go see a little shot of angry runs.
Say hi to my friends.
So yes, yes, gentlemen, how was your weekend on the East Coast?
Fantastic? Peter, you got the stars of striking. Let's go.
Let's go.
You got the most metal Okay, NFL Global Game, all that we kicked ass at the Olympics USA.
Let's get out. Let's go.
It's okay to be proud. I'm a proud fan today USA. I do want to shout out my Australian breakdancing friend Ray Gun.
She performed well.
It did not win any gold medals, but that was the moment of the Olympics.
All my kids are doing all weegain and we all got a lot of kids. All my kids want to do is the stupid breakdancing. They're doing this and they're going round Steph Curry, doesn't matter how many threes he hits. Katie Lendeck, you know the Australian break dancing Greg guy And how did none of the players do that as an end zone celebration.
In the preseason yesterday? We should have seen that. Come on, we had.
One opportunity people in the end zone because now break dancing is gone and now we are going to have other innovative sports.
La I feel like it's gonna come. I think it's gonna come during the season. I think we're gonna.
See a lot of people break dancing their hand zone.
What it just went in the middle of nowhere?
Time for the lead block, shall we?
Kyle?
I believe you're at first.
Let's go lead block Cowboys rams Sofi Stadium. There's Dak Prescott, one of twenty seven different Cowboys.
Wo wants money. He's not getting Rams Win.
Cowboys eliminated in preseason eliminator survivor pools. I am sorry, you are out. Trey Lance played a lot through forty one passes.
Passes. They scored twelve points. Rams Win, Rams Win, Regaan all day.
Yeah, but not to be stopped by Bennett throwing thirty eight times. I mean, my goodness. It was like, I know, all right, here's the Bonnicks Invitational. This is what we care about. Coming out of the Broncos preseason. Sixth and final first round quarterback to make it in the first round, Knicks would end up leading four scoring drives. He would finish he only threw twenty one times fifteenth, twenty one, one hundred and twenty five yards, and he added seventeen with his own two feet. Broncos went thirty four to thirty. But Bonnicks, how did it feel?
Yeah, it was a nice play by Mars.
He did a good job of getting to the corner and we executed well. We've been practicing and reving that play quite a lot. And they bumped it off and had some space and we were able to get a touchdown. But you know, overall, just felt like it was good to get out there and throw some completion and see a new defense and ultimately just get out there and compete.
Did you get the chance?
Marv gave it back to me, but I ended up handing it off to somebody.
Else because getting a preseason game ball does not matter. It's the Bots and it should not count. Tavia Carr, what do you make of bon X?
I was actually pleasantly surprised. I'm gonna be honest with you, if you go back and look some of the clips.
I was talking about Bo Nicks in the spring.
I wasn't that high on him, but it's because when you watch the film, it's not justin Herbert. When you see the film from Oregon, like you don't see the big throws down the field. But when he landed with Sean Payton, I was still a little hesitant because Sean runs a specific offense that obviously a lot of completions.
He's very accurate.
Bo clearly has some quicks he can move, but I didn't think that Sean was going to be able to kind of bring some of those RPOs, some of those dynamic runs into his offense.
Shawn's old school.
He hasn't really done a lot of that, but I saw a lot of that, and then I saw Bo being able to push the ball down the field a little bit.
Now that's where he struggled.
If I had to pick one thing, everyone's gonna say Bo Nicks had a perfect preseason game.
Down the field.
Was a little late, a little hesitant, but that's just time, that's experience.
But this type of stuff picking.
Up the third downs, like you said, seventeen yards on the ground, it's hidden yardage in the quarterback room, but huge first downs and then runs down the end zone and then that RPO down the goal line.
The quickness that he comes at. This was a nice RPO that he threw.
So like, if you can build some of that stuff in, if you're Sean Payton, and kudos to you. I love Sean Payton as a play caler. I think he's one of the top five guys literally of all time. But for him to be able to implement some of the stuff that they saw on Bownix's tape that he's really good at, and that's going to give him so much early success in this season.
Peter your thoughts, I'm with David on this.
I think what's key here is that Sean Payton wants you to run his offense, like, don't do too much, don't freestyle. If you run my offense, we're gonna have great success. And bow Nicks did that. I thought the pass to Courtland Sutton where he would.
Be in mo, he moved and threw the ball on the run.
That's something you want to see and that's exactly what Champagne's looking for. If the play breaks down, can you make a little something out of nothing. That's how they're saying.
Fifteen to twenty one, no interceptions.
That's a win out of the debut for me, and like that is that is what Champagne's looking for. Move the ball, be accurate and in this case, bo Nicks, one of the most accurate college quarterbacks of all time, completed more than seventy percent of his passes a season ago at Oregon.
That's what they want in Denver.
Don't go willy nilly, don't.
Go first down, and don't hurt us. Let us have a chance to win.
So, as we mentioned, Nix was the sixth and final first round quarterback taken in the twenty twenty four draft.
But that means we have.
Five others we have to pick apart after a weekend one of the preseason, Kyle Brant, I can't imagine where you want to take us next.
I want to take you to the front yard, all right. This weekend, I spent some time with the sun. When I got home yesterday, and my ten year old son and night Calvin, we're playing catch with the football in the front yard.
He's throwing it around and he made a particularly good catch and I, oh, great catch, Son, and he Daddy still calls me daddy. I love it. What's the greatest throw ever in the NFL? Like, who made the greatest throw? So brought him inside, got out the tablet. We did some YouTube and I educated myself.
And I said, here are the greats. I said, Son, you want to know the greatest throws ever in the NFL, The biggest clutches throws you've ever seen, most impressive nineteen eighty one NFC title game.
Son, that's Joe Montana.
He's waiting over two tall Jones to Dwight Clark in the back of the endzone.
Came known as the catchy. That's impressive.
How about this one Super Bowl forty three, Roethlisbergernna, Antonio Holmes.
What a clutch throw.
And then then this one, and then here we go preseason twenty twenty four.
Son, that's Caleb Williams breaking the.
Pocket, throwing a laser to Cole Camet down the sideline. He goes, wow, those first two were okay, but the third one was fire, dad, And you're right, son, it was When I tell you, I got like the goosebumps off my forearm, in all parts of my body when Caleb Williams threw that pass. He threw some several passes. But the guy out there throwing it and breaking the pot, can we just see it again, properly done up, because this is the ushery of a new era, not of Bears football, but of professional football.
Just give me the throw, an.
Absolute seed, peter a dot, a laser, a dime. He doesn't have to do it. He could throw it away, but no, I'm gonna make a play. That era is over, This era is beginning.
Just a gorgeous throw. And here's the what you all, here's I love the people.
Saying yeah, dude's against the fiftieth string defense.
It's the preseason game. Chill out. I won't chill out. I will not chill out.
A look at you want the sangle, Peter, look at the rush. He's gonna throw it away. No, he's gonna put it right between the numbers, twenty five yards baboom. I will not be calmed. I will not be tranquilized. I will not do it, and neither should you. Bears fans, don't read those idiotic mouth breezing, booger eating tweets from your Twitter saying calm down. Don't calm down. You should not come down. You should do the opposite. Fire up. That was amazing. There's more where that came from. I'm educating my kid. I'm educating you. Caleb Williams is here to stay. That's the one that I like, Peter.
What do you have KILLI K day in the division, Peter.
I just have to say I wasn't feeling you at first, and then you started to go on. But it wasn't until you put the score under the soundtrack, underneath the video where I thought that this was a historical event.
The throw looked beautiful. I'm all in o.
Caleb now war it's the orchestral finished.
Man, well done.
Anytime you can roll orchestral music and the symphony on August seven, you have.
To, you know, like that's when that game was played.
So I love it.
I appreciate it's one of the greatest throws.
Of all time. That's what I'm saying.
How about the greatest quarterback situation for a rookie of all time? Go to JJ McCarthy, as anyone had it more laid out perfectly with Kevin O'Connell, a former quarterback, as as head coach, Josh McCown, a former NFL quarterback in the quarterbacks room, Sam Darnold in front of him, and then JJ gets rolled out there and it's like he throws an interception early to Jack Jones and you're wondering, all right, dude, let's slow down. Then JJ McCarthy starts cooking, and how cool was this? You've got Jefferson on the call, being interviewed by the guys in the booth, and check out this play and the reaction by the best wide receiver in football.
JJ McCarthy. You can't throw left, can you?
Let's see?
I have to say with the go go and give ball guy some shots. Do Oh, there we go.
Just awesome and McCarthy played really well in this game. The Nikings fans are almost excited as the Bears fans. I will say this, We've got David Carr there, who I think is such an awesome pro and had.
A rookie season where it's like you just.
Got to take the beating and just kind of go David. You have to just be envious of what this guy's walking into. Uterback coach, quarterback head coach, great offensive line, Addison and Jefferson, and no pressure to start out of the gates.
Because Sam Donald.
Was signed to a big deal, you're also not a brand new organization.
Pretty is to have an organization.
So I look at JJ McCarthy situation. As a first round pick, I don't know if I could have laid it out any better, and as a debut hey through a pick, But don't worry about it. It's okay, It's not really matters. You'll go for it because we've got Sam Donald and you can work out those kinks. I love the fact that he got to bounce back after throwing the interception and to have Jefferson on the call as that happens.
It's pretty cool.
But even Peter, even on that interception that he threw, I mean it was still like he was in the pocket, standing there making throws right after that, like he ripped a twenty yarder on the sideline like literally two plays later. I'm like, this kid has it, and then the other things like you mentioned it. He's in a perfect scenario, like Sam Donald can go in and play. He's got one of the top five play callers in the league right now. Calm plays for him, so he has all the components. Take your time, breathe, man, just drink it all in, right, Don't get thrust in there, like I had two week ones?
Is it if you're yeah, well, I mean it was hard.
Is like when you're a young kid, you don't know right, so you have to have adults that can take care of you. And so for me, I was just thrust in because a lot of times these guys when they go into camp, they have the best army. You're in shorts, Yeah, that guy looks the part. So everyone kind of wants to push you into the spotlight.
Man, you're not ready.
You're not ready, So do as much as you can sit next to Sam Donald, drink it all in, learn how to be a pro, then go out there and use that physical skill.
And you know who else has a similar situation is Michael Pennick junior. And Michael Pennix looks amazing during the preseason.
And I think what I'm starting to.
Notice with all of these quarterbacks is that they're coming in pro ready, pro ready, and I think it's because a lot of the coaches are coaching them up. Hey tell me what they did well in college, and let's start to roll that out in their pro game and then get them kind of elevated and move them up in the pro game. Michael Pennix, I mean, I was just watching body language and I'm like.
Why does he look so calm?
First off, he scared me because he's left handed, and I was like, oh shoot, I was having the flashbacks of Michael Think and I'm like, man, this dude is so smooth in the pocket. Five drives led down to ten points. But I think this kid is going to develop well under Kirk Cousin. To have a pro like that, to have an amazing coach like Raheem Morris, I mean you see oftentimes and We talked about this before, Like I think sometimes some quarterbacks get thrown out there and they're just not ready yet. You know, they're not ready to make that change.
Well, you hit on a great point because a lot of these guys and Sean Payton did it and you're seeing it with obviously with the rest of these guys. They're coaching staffs and said, what were they good at in college? Let's bring that into the pro game, because now the college game is kind of leaked into the NFL game where you get the RPOs like we saw with Bo Nicks.
You see a lot of that stuff. It makes guys comfortable.
I remember I was like, man, if we just had like three or four concepts that I had run in college, I'd feel better about this.
But it was all brand new.
So great job by the coaching staffs putting these guys in position to will they can feel comfortable. And then he just has a special arm. Man, let him get warmed up. He'll start cranking some down the field that they're really going to.
Speaking of quarterbacks that don't have to get thrust into the spotlight or totally taken an organization to a left turn, let's go to Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders you think about him over the weekend.
Well, so that's why, like number one, Like off the top of it, I want to say, like protect this kid like everybody else seems to be in a good position. But it's not just the physical not just the offense of lin I'm talk about. I talking about Clif Kingsbury Like that offense lends itself to some holes. Right even with Kyler Murray who we saw in Arizona. With Cliff, that's that they were tailor made for each other, right, Well, Kyle's running all over the place, He's trying to make plays, and I think that that's the key, Like can can they calm down the protections enough? Can you have answers to the test because you know on defense, if you see a weakness and protection attack, especially with a young kid, they're going to come at you. So for me, I think Jade's a special player. I think he's going to be excellent pro. But they have to protect him because he has the ability to make all the throws to make any play he need. So this was a screen right and against It's a lot of talking his man coverage. He checked out of the screen. Doesn't want to get as Neecker killed check to a go round on the outside, perfect great throw dime.
You don't really have to worry about protections. There's a four man.
Rush, maybe five again, it brought a fifth guy. But he played excellent football and he has all the tools, and you hear the stuff in training camp and in the OTAs. He's playing above what we thought he could even do. All right, So you got him right, you got the guy. Now let's protect him. And I think that's the thing I'm going to be focused on watching Cliff. Do you have gaps in your protection?
I want to circle back David to Peter that something you said, because Peter knows Sean Payton so well. Peter, interesting for you that Sean Payton was able to incorporate maybe some of bo Nix's game, even though he's such a classic play caller and like quarterback whisper if you will, which I might put that on the list of things I don't want to say anymore. Are you surprised that he was able to incorporate some stuff to make bo nixes comfortable in the preseason to.
Start, I look no further than Tayso Hill and what he used him doing, and that there was a way to use a guy who wasn't a traditional quarterback. But we can get packages involved, like Sean has all the tools. It's just that you weren't going to do that with Breeze. You probably weren't going to do that with some of the other quarterbacks he had. You weren't going to put him in harm's way. But if bo Nix can move a little bit and you can use that offense that they ran up there in Oregon just a little bit and incorporate it, I think that's all power to remember it's not just Peyton, because Pete Carmichael's there this year, and Davis Webb is going to be the quarterbacks coach who is under thirty and played many years in the NFL and kind of speaks to these guys as almost peers. I think it's going to be really interesting to see bon Nix's development as opposed to having a veteran quarterback like Russell Wilson who came in and to no fault of his kind of thought, he had the answers also, So there bon Knicks' is a blank slate.
Sean Payton, they can draw that up the way they want.
All right, It's a fascinating development because half of these guys have starting spots that they're going to jump into. In the other half they get to wait their sweet turn and learn from veterans. And we will see come week nineteen and a half in January, which is the veter scenario for any of these guys. David cars at the table today. This is good Morning football on a Monday morning. We're putting a bow on week one of the preseason. But you can't not look at that and the night night that Steph Curry gave the gold medal podium the women one two, the women's soccer team one two. It was a weekend for America coming out of Paris. Now it's time for twenty twenty eight LA. We're looking at quarterbacks and who we think should be potentially.
The flag bear in Los Angeles.
Kyle, do you think Steph is the all time point guard?
Did he take magic spot?
We can see them all time starting five to see the point guard.
I don't know.
Let's get into it. That's good morning basketball, Good morning football.
Jared Jones is now a Claire Fine.
His comments about Ceedee Lambs contract Yeah, CD is not paid, Mike is not paid, DAC's not paid.
Getting Cowboys right after this. Good morning, all right?
That is Caleb Williams drafted number one overall and playing out there for the Bears. They're gonna side to play their guys today. There's Josh Allen, not a lot of action for him, but Caleb came out four seven ninety five hours, no.
Picks, Peter, no picks.
Manning always compared to leave, Marioto is pared to Winston.
Caleb's always gonna be compared to this guy.
Jayden Daniels first and second overall picks in the same aft. The Heisman winner as Jayden Daniels. Not as much hype because no hard knocks. We didn't see much Jaden Daniels basically just three pass attempts, but he.
Looked very good and he gives the ball to his mom.
Love that Jets win twenty seventeen, but Jenden Daniels a nice debut.
Vikings fans getting their skull clap warmed up in Minnesota hosting the Raiders. That's justin Jefferson. He's loved jewelry on because he got paid this summer. Sam Donald started the game. We already talked about JJ McCarthy to start the show, but Donald got the start. Donald has on that one year deal and then Gardner Minshoes min Shoes on a two year deal. So we'll see how this unfolds for the Raiders. This is kind of the game of quarterback decisions. And then go blue out, roll the carpet for JJ McCarthy, and boy did he make a name for himself. Justin Jefferson lost his mind on that play, rightfully, so best TV moment ever in local Minnesota sports history because JJ was micd up Justin Jefferson. It's very confusing now, Cherry burse you try to sneak away on Friday without telling us it was your birthday weekend.
So Robert having.
Heard, good, thank god, thank you, thank you getting to our news though in the league, we're starting actually with more from the Raiders game. Aidan O'Connell and Gerna Minshew, as we both saw performing well in the preseason opener, and it looks like we're getting a little closer to finding out who will be the starter. Head coach Antonio Piers saying Sunday, the goal is to make a decision after the Raiders second preseason game Saturday against the Cowboys, Pierre saying, quote, we have to get ready to play football. We have enough film and we'll have to We have two games to evaluate both quarterbacks to see how they'll play. NFL Network insider Ian Rappaport is reporting Chiefs wide receiver Marquise Hollywood Brown was released from the hospital after suffering a left shoulder injury in Saturday's preseason game against the Jaguars. Brown suffering the injury on his first play as a Chief and also reporting Giants a wide receiver Molikue Neighbors suffering a minor ankle spring in Sunday's practice.
He didn't have a catch in the.
First preseason game last Thursday against the Lines you might remember, but by all accounts impressing during training camp so far, and it's Football's turned guys. I FAF and the NFL are thrilled to see flag football included in the twenty twenty Olympic Games in Los Angeles right here. Flag football is one of the fastest growing sports globally. It's played by twenty million athletes across one hundred countries. So do all those flag athletes around the world can't wait to see you here.
Taken on the sport Now.
The NFL Fan of the Year Contest, presented by Captain Morgan, returns the honor of extraordinary fans to really spice up football with their fandom. Visit nfl dot com slash Fan of the Year to nominate someone.
Hey, why not yourself? Do it today?
Hey everybody, it's GMFB. So let's reset this scenario year. Last week a bit of a back and forth between Jerry Jones and his wide receiver CD Lamb. Now, Jerry Jones said there wasn't much of a sense of an urgency to get the contract done for CD in the last couple of weeks.
That was met with an la well.
Period from CD Lamb. Then yesterday, the Cowboys were next door for their preseason game against the Rams, and before the game, Jones added context of the situation on the team's pregame show. Essentially, it was a long thought, but at the very end he says, well, CD, you're missed, okay, but you're not missed out here competing and it doesn't put any pressure any place on us. It's not pressure out here today and in practice, Peter, your thoughts on this one, because we talked about a Friday. Now we need to fast forward.
It's Monday.
I watched the whole clip, so there's a long statement, and it was basically saying there's no urgency because Dak Prescott's not playing in preseason. A lot of the starters aren't playing in preseason, so there's no urgency. We know you guys worked out over the summer. We know you're in great shape. That's why there's no urgency to get you on the field. But by saying there's no urgency, you might even irk him even more.
Remember CD came.
Out and gave the LOL and it was one hundred and fifty five thousand likes on Twitter with him just saying lol, And the clip was viewed thirteen million times and that was less than twenty four hours after he said it. So I don't think this puts a band aid on the situation. I think Jerry Jones trying to, you know, put water on the fire and saying, don't worry about.
This, there's no urgency. That don't play CD like that. You know what he's talking about.
When you say there's no urgency, you're talking about the contract, not about getting him out.
There in practice in preseason.
I will say this, Zeke Elliott missed an entire training camp as he was negotiating for a contract, got there right before the started season and wasn't in shape to play. Was not the same guy that he was. It's because training camp actually matters. So if the Cowboys really do care about CD Lamb and really do want to see him as the future of the franchise at wide receiver, sign him to a deal, give him the money so you can get him on the field.
And in practice, I do think there's an urgency.
But that's just me sitting from here, which I'm not a part of that Cowboys organization.
Yeah, well, I look at the contrast, to look at the weekend. The Commanders had something fresh with a new coach and a new quarterback and they're smiling at the sideline, and the Cowboys were just doing all this nonsense. And I say it every single year. I say it almost every single week. What is different about this Cowboys team? It's, you know, we're doing this thing now. Last year, I remember it was Zach Martin, it was Zeke before that. I mean I remember being in eighth grade, it was m It's meant the same stuff. I was reminded over the weekend there was a huge weekend for Disney and they had their big convention where they announced all their new stuff and everyone's so excited. Yeah at the twenty three and it's like, here we go, guys, We're Disney, We're the biggest corporation. Everyone were the Imagine years and all that, and we're giving you Toy Story five. You're like, well, I thought we were kind of set with the Toy Story stuff, but I'll give you my money. It's like the Cowboys are now giving us another Toy Story and you're like, all right, what else are they giving us?
Incredibles three?
All right?
Just sequels? Like you're giving us another Tron movie. No one cares about the last Tron movie.
I feel a little bit like the Cowboys like just regurgitating ip from the nineties. I'm watching the same franchise, Like, remember when you came up with the original toy story, that was awesome. Remember when you came up with an original winning football team that didn't have all this BS, that was awesome. The start wide receiver is literally laughing at the owner online, laughing.
At him out loud, it's like the people doing it. Do we need Utopia too? Why don't you come up with a new idea that was utopia? Do we need Cowboys contract hold.
Out fifty five thousand and wildcard lost season twenty seven thousand.
We don't.
It's just just here's a here's an owl pellet sequel again.
I'm gonna cough it up for you. That's all we're getting this season. What's it gonna be any different? It's just it's just regurgitating stuff. I'm tired of it. That's hard to follow, so that we will not.
I mean, yeah, it's toy story one, two, three, four, five Cowboys. Do you say it was even year five? Even odd years? It's either get to the NFC title game or losing the wildcard weekend.
We're not sure.
We're all no divisional, not title game, divisional or wildcard. Ain't never go a title game that it never happens.
That would be an original ip Kyle, thank you for that was very helpful, very refreshing. Cray, Peter, that's a fantastic USA shirt. Step Curry represented in an iconic finish in the gold medal game. He hit us with one of his moves at night night.
There we go.
All right, you got to pick an NFL quarterback, and if he has an opportunity like this, who would you go with to deliver the legendary moment? But frankly, also the picture after that's worth a million words.
Good mon football? All right?
Preseason action, Browns, Packers teams. A lot of folks thinks are going to be the playoff this year. All right, potential super Bowl preview, Peter, what the hell not? If Jordan Love plays like this, he can hold up his end. That's Jordan Love. That's Dnavian Wicks, a Virginia Cavalier. You know him, you love me. It was a fifth round pick last year. Looks really really good. That's that was an Alan Lazard's old number thirteen. Then Lazard just wore thirteen. That's a deep pool for us.
Chris Jackie used to wear thirteen. The christi Jackie was a kicker. I don't know if he was thirteen.
Can we get research, Adrian in research, Chandren.
Terry Thompson, Robinson's their eighteen passes. There you go, Bengals Bucks, the books, Bengals Bucks.
Let's see mister Joe Burrow, he's on the field. How long would he play?
Very little?
But here we go complete to pass.
And we hope to see this guy in a Bengals uniform for a long long time, but I'm not sure.
He will be Ta Higgins. This might be the final season of TEA.
We'll see more importantly, Chris Jackie was thirteen thirteen Joe Burrow with that fun hair.
Chiefs Jaguars, go for it, Chiefs Jaggs.
It begins the three peaks with one preseason games. This is Mahomes takes a handoff. He hits Hollywood Brown here over the middle from eleven yard game. But the issue here is that Marquise Brown goes down hard on his shoulder. He'll be hospitalized with a shoulder injury. He has since been released, as Sherry Burris mentioned, but this is not a good start for the Chiefs offensive preseason. That is though Ts Travis atn from Trevor Lawrence on the angle.
For a touchdown. That's pretty good little pitch and catch.
Later in the first quarter out of LSU, the twenty third overall pick is found, kind of beenstried, kind of have to come back to the ball, but that's a fantastic catch. Regardless by c J. Bether Brian Thomas Junior is his name, he is Josh Williams draped all over him. Thomas Junior would finish with that one catch on two targets for forty one yards.
Jags win.
Peter, Yeah, let's go to the weekend where we saw this guy just heave up about four to three pointers at the end of a game to put France away and to win gold. Now you say you're a football show. We don't want to hear about basketball. Okay, we're going to make a football thing out of this. Curry dropped four threes in the last two minutes and forty eight seconds, so let's bring it to football. That was a clutch moment where Curry, who has had a million clutch moments, was on the global scale and had an opportunity to cement himself as an international icon in the Olympic Games. I ask you, guys, which quarterback would you like to get the opportunity to do that?
Not say, hey, here's why I picking the clutch moment. Who do you want to get the chance to have the opportunity.
To perform on a global stage where every single eyeball is watching and they can have their moment.
Akbar, who do you want to have that opportunity?
I mean, this one is an easy answer to me. It's got to be Patrick Mahomes. Patrick Mahomes already two Super Bowl wins looking to go excuse me three, looking to go for the three p. I mean, he's had the big clutch plays we've seen him. He's of course, has made the championship. He has championships underneath his belt, he's had the MVPs, he's had it all. But outside of that, the dude is a big time playmaker. When you talk about globalizing the game of football, you've got to have somebody out there with some swag.
Somebody's gonna go out there and do the no.
Look, what's exciting about Steph Curry is the fact that Steph Curry is shooting him threes and he's lighting them boys up and he's having fun. To globalize the football, American football, you need somebody who's entertaining. Steph Curry is entertaining. Patrick Mahomes is entertaining, and he's a champion. And not to mention, four years from now, he could have like six or seven Super Bowl wins.
So of course, true there's another quarterback that I think has something to say about that, okay, and he's his dynamic. Lamar Jackson is an MVP in this league, and he's a guy that is much maligned for what he can do throwing the football. And I wait for the day and I hope it comes where we can see Lamar Jackson. Lamar Jackson splash them threes much like he does on the ground. But I want to see the Ariel Hotel attacks. When we saw last year in the playoffs state they started throwing the football around, it wasn't good.
They went out and got Derek Henry. Oh, we're going to run the football.
I want to see Lamar make a couple of throws to win the big games, to get to where Pat Mahomes is and get himself Super Bowl.
All right, good.
The key to me is just who do you honestly get the opportunity to have that big game. I'm going to give it to Dak Prescott, who I think has been one of the best quarterbacks in football for nearly a decade and yet.
Hasn't had the op oportunity to have that Super Bowl.
Hasn't had the opportunity to have that NFC Championship game before meant if he did it in the Olympics, it would finally silence all doubters and silence all critics.
I'm going with Dak.
I didn't ask who I would choose to be the quarterback here because I think that would probably be.
My homes maybe Burrow, I.
Don't know, maybe someone else, but like who I want just to have the opportunity to shut everybody up and say, hey, here's four three pointers in the final three minutes.
Dak Prescott's my guy here.
I want to say, Dak, get that shot on the global stage with that star or the USA pencer.
You know, the flag on helmet.
Yes, I listen. You got to know a little bit about me.
I interpreted this question as like, who would I want to represent our country in the Olympics playing football? I think if there was tackle football in the Olympics. When I watched the Olympics, I turn into a jerk. I get very very pro America. There's a word it's called jingoistic, where you're like just openly contentious to other countries, Like I don't just want to beat them, I don't want them in the middle stand. I want their countries and bargoed all that for just a couple of weeks and then we go back to being friends and stuff. So I like that Steph Curry did it because Steph Curry is not, in context, this crazy physical freak, like he is a little bit smaller.
It's not like Lebron or Anthony Davis just beasted on him.
So to that note, if we took football to the Olympics, you know who I'd want to just be destroying these other countries, Kyler Murray. I want Kyler Murray to do it because I want those countries to be like that little.
Guy's destroying us, Josh Allen.
We understand Lamar, we understand someone like Cam Newton's physical ability, but we can't even keep up with America in football, and they got a guy who's five foot eight out there running circles around us. That's the kind of demoralizing loss. I want those countries to feel when they face us in football. And also, you know, the Mahomes is already beloved. Lamar is already celebrated, Like it would be a really cool thing for Kyler Murray to have this moment, and he's taken a lot of crap a lot of it'sself imposed, but like his reputation isn't what those other guys are, and certainly his accomplishments are so for all the people, for us who who consume football to be like.
Wow, Kyler, a moment for you. You've earned it. I love it.
That's my answer, Kyler Murray represent the United States of America.
Who knew, Kyle.
It's always important to make sure we understand how you interpreted the question because it helps us understand your.
Answer a little bit better.
Whenever step Curry has moments like this, and he's had a lot, I always like to take the opportunity to thank David Kahn of the Timberwolves when he drafted Johnny Flynn and Ricky Rubio ahead of Steph Curry. But that's besides the point. I go with somebody, Kyle, to your point, who I need representing America not only with the shot or the drive or how whatever game scenario that you find yourself in, but also who has the audacity to stare an entire country, nay many countries in the face and go like this and have the guts and just say like good night, I've just put you.
All to bed. Baker Mayfield.
I need Baker Mayfield to be the one doing this, the man who has top ten commercials ranked and he's also a number one overall pick. Baker Mayfield, who's played for what feels like a half a dozen teams at this point, who has the personality to continue to be pumping out progressive insurance commercials. I think Baker Mayfield can go to any international state and just do something that's so annoying yet lovable at the same time, because now we've had this resurgence of his personality that he's become this likable character that is coming back from the depths of being downtrodden. Baker Mayfield is my pick.
Can't you go taking that American flag and just takes that American flag and.
Just plants it in the middle of the field and is like, here we go, stars and stripes, let's go us say you say so?
Yeah, I'm just feeling very very proud of our country right now. It's okay, you don't like our country.
I know it feels weird, but you don't have to apologize. Okay, Kyle, how.
Is that received in your neck of the woods when you are what was the word you just described it as jingle realistic.
It's jingoistic. Is that good?
It's like, you're like, our country's the best, we should dominate all of you.
I'm not proud of it. Guys. You shouldn't be that way. Kids. What was Kevin Durant said this weekend?
He's like, there's a lot of bs with our country, but there's some great stuff too. It's like Durant twenty four, I love you gymnastic?
Is that the word?
Jingleistic? USA? We want the best, right, we are the best.
That's why Patrick Mahomes has to be because he's the best.
He doesn't have a gold medal, so we got to give him the gold medal. I want the guy that.
Has it all, like the like the Tom Brady he has everything right like, so let's give it to Patrick Mahomes.
We need that next guy.
I appreciate you, but I think you're saying jingle listics.
Is it jingle jingle that's for Christmas? J I n G O men Jingo oh jingo.
Yeah, Okay, it feels happier to say it that way.
I just want to know if Peter's gonna be wearing the shirt after the election of November, Peter, you're wearing that one.
You got that one?
You so, guys, here's the thing of beauty. We're showing all the quarterbacks and they lead the news, as they should. But this weekend was a wild one for pre season angry runs.
Now, I'm not doing the whole thing. I got the step there, but I'm not just sure I got the ll bean here. I'm just this preseason.
But there's some dudes out there who maybe they're trying to make teams, maybe they're trying to make an impression. Guys were getting run over in the preseason. This weekend, NFL Twitter is all over and sos, good morning football.
Should we get into it? Rolls the video Commander's rookie tight end Ben sin It.
Take your eyes off of Jadon and look at Benson, the second tight end taken in the draft side of Rock Blowers, Kansas State, and look at the Jets trying to gang tackle h me's still going. This guy has a forty inch vertical played hockey growing up in Waterloo, Iowa.
Led his hockey team in penalty minutes, which I loved. And he's going and he's going and he's going now. Not forcer he's an enforcer. Peter Darren McCarthy. Let's go all right.
Next, a quarterback, a backup quarterbacks doing angry runs.
Do you want to see the Hendon hooker highlight? Yes you do.
Hendon Hooker says, I'm not sliders, so yeah, Hendon. Remember this is Hendon's first game action since November of twenty two.
They try to tackle him. He says, big mistake.
Huge, to quote another famous hooker, unbelievable.
And then I love what you did there.
I love the determination he is going down rodeo drive with which he here's money.
I don't mind it at all, But here's the star. Here's the star. Carson Steele, roll the Carson.
This is an undrafted rookie fallback play for the World champions and giving zero keeps with the hair.
Hanging out the back.
Guys ball State then Ucla. He led UCLA in rushing last year. Look at the hair.
It was nicknamed a ball State fabio, they called him. And he's just running through birds on roller coasters, not giving a damn.
This guy should be playing in nineteen sixty two, but it's twenty twenty four.
I hope he makes the team. I hope he is the Super Bowl MVP. You can have your.
Travis Cousins and Patrick Mahomes. Give me someone whose name was forged for this, Carson Steel. Ladies and gentlemen, watch for him and watch out for him, because he will truck you and runs watchless rough.
I want to tell everybody as the season gets closer, just being this close to a preseason version of Angry Runs is incredibly intense.
And Kyle, I love you to heard.
So many buzzwords for an angry run segment. Then undrafted full back and the guy's last name is Steel.
I mean, my god, perfect long hair, too, undrafted rookie, out of the way.
You're gonna he's the new Tyreek.
He's the new Tyreek. Get out of his way, Carson Steel, get me the jersey watch off for.
Thank you, Kyle. We appreciate you.
Thank you.
David Carr, we appreciate you. Oh my gosh, any time we got to have you.
Come back for you guys are over here.
Yeah, exactly out of Peter shot. Give him a single GMFB shoes. Ben't worry for we have a guess coming on in our second hour.
Can't you come up for a
