Good Morning Football, Good Morning Football live here in Los Angeles. I'm Jamie her at All. That's akbar Baja biam Milla. This is Isaiah sam back.
He's back again.
He thought he was going to be in here for like an hour to They were like, get in here, Isaiah running back again. Peter Schrager, Uh never, just out of our circle.
You're always in. Get in here, man, he's in New York City.
We had a blast having Peter and Kyl and studio yesterday. But this is how we're going to bounce back and forth and coast to coast football here on GMFB. Isaiah, welcome back to the table. How was your first day of TV with us yesterday?
Firth?
It was good.
You guys are easy so all day long. Can you just like like maybe get a loosis shirt?
Man?
You know what I don't.
I don't know what you're trying to embarrass folks up. When I went in the back, I didn't have any more short so they gave me yours.
Pretty good. It's pretty good, Peter, tight t shirt. Talk Peter, your thoughts.
I'm here for it. I've got my standard polo. Let's go.
We'll talk some football.
How about we do that? How about you a little lead block action?
Hey, do it lead block highlights? Because there were games on last night. Peter and I are pulling on to the elusive shot sheet there is, Kyle would say, the generic blue helmet. That is Jerrod Mayo hugging his new boss. I guess he is the new head coach of the New England Patriots. Drake may of course, the third overall pick in the twenty twenty four draft. Jacoby were set though, would take over at quarterback or start at quarterback for the Pats guys. The Panther's plane when it landed back in Carolina apparently went off the runway when it landed at like two am.
Everybody's okay, oh wow, everybody's okay. But the Panthers are probably like.
Come on, man, we gotta go on the road, play on the rain in New England, and now right now we gotta drag our bags across the runway.
To get home. They probably wish they were off to a different start.
Peter, Yeah, is that symbolic?
Mike? See how the season goes.
Let's let's come up here to New York where was rain and yesterday? How about replacing Saquon. This is Tyrone Tracy, junior out of Purdue. He played wide receiver in college, moved they moved to running back at the end of his Purdue career and was a.
Day three pick of the Giants.
And this is Eric Gray.
Started off at Tennessee, transferred to Oklahamama. Tracy would have five rushes for twenty six yards.
Gray would have four rushes to fifty two yards.
We didn't see motor singletary and it looks like Locke and Jones are talking on the sidelines as Tommy Davido Dvidoo would take care of the rest. In a rainy MetLife stadium, the Giants went fourteen to three. Jamie the backup. They look crisp, they look fast, and the young guys they came ready to pop. The Giants get the better of the Lions after what was a heated week of practice.
I was going to say, Peter is a very emotional week for both of those teams. So maybe the rain just kind of cooled everybody down and we got to see some play from a couple of different non starters for both those teams. Let's hang in the NFC East as weft our focus to the Cowboys. This is why Isaiah got called in. Really, we have been talking all off season about the contract situations that's plural between Dak Prescott, Micah Parsons, and CD Lamb. Well, last night, owner Jerry Jones was asked about the star wide receiver, focusing on CD Lamb's contract, and he had a take.
Of urgency as you begin the preseason to get CD done done.
No, no, I'll say it in.
I'm just just I went to high school or I went to college, and I don't want to say it, but I'm just saying.
I don't I don't know.
I don't have a sense of urgency about getting that done.
Okay, So he says I don't have a sense of urgency to get a John jur Jones And this isn't like it was off the cuff. He sat there, as you could see, in silence, thought about it, said it with intention. CD then extraor tweeted or were saying now lol, period, Peter, your thoughts question Mark.
Wow, I know, And so the world turns.
This is how it's gonna go, right, We said this all day yesterday on the show, that you've got these three premiere players and they all want to get paid, and who's going to get paid where?
Well, Ceedy Lamb.
If you go through the numbers, Ceedee Lamb.
Probably was a top three wide receiver last year and was ascending as the season went on, carrying the Cowboys in some.
Of those key December victories that they had.
And to say that and how the Lamb say, Lol, Well, you immediately want to say this is a mess.
Well, certainly not perfect.
I would say that you would have liked to have gotten a deal done earlier in the summer, and certainly as we head towards preseason, you'd like to see Ceedee Lamb with the team working out and making impacts. But I will also say this, there's a need to be an urgency from either side.
Really.
Now, Look, they could have gotten this done in May and June. Clarence, who covers the Cowboys down there in Dallas. He makes the point that Ceedee Lamb's agent spent the last two week in Paris at the Olympics, So it's not like both these two sides are sitting down at a desk and hammering this out. But Ceedee Lamb was quick to get on AX the second he saw that tweet, and he was to respond, Look, this is not the same situation as Brandon Ayuk. It's not Brandon Ayuk is a good wide receiver. Ceedee Lamb is an elite wide receiver. I think Ceedee Lamb and Ayuk are what we're gonna talk about because Ayuk wants to be traded or wants to stay as a Niner, wants to get his money.
And I and here Ceede.
Lamb saying, Hey, what Ceedee Lamb's been quiet throughout this thing. He hasn't been just an LOL tweet. I think Lamb has played it right. But I don't think there's an urgency on Jerry's side.
There never is.
Jerry's been through a million different contract negotiations, and for better or worse, there's always going to be something in Cowboys training camp that is left undone until the very last second. In this case, though, if his is undone, what about Dak and what about Parsons?
And that's really the hold up right here, Peter, because the deal has to get done.
And you couldn't see me.
I was just in the left of the interview, and when I was sitting there listening to that, I just you were there.
I was there, Yeah, I was there.
Yeah.
I had to kind of practice yesterday when I heard that, as all I could do is kind of shake my head a little bit because it's gainsmanship, right is kind of you gotta have to have some form of a front. The reality is they need Ceedee Lamb. The benefit of ceedeelamb not being there is that Brandon Cook's and Dak Prescott are getting a lot of reps and they look really good in practice. The disadvantage of that is you're not getting that chemistry and that symmetry that you need going into the regular season with your number one receiver. There's no question that Ceedde Lamb is one of the best.
Receivers in this league. I mean, top three.
You can say him, Jefferson and Chase whatever you want to say, but he's in that conversation. And now that you know what that number is for justin Jefferson, now it just comes down to logistics and Micah Parsons and Dak Prescott are a direct correlation to to Cede Lamb, and they are the reason why this deal hasn't gotten done.
Yet it is not as easy.
As just Jerry Jones getting with Ceedee Lamb's party and then finding out what that number is. His number is going to affect the negotiations of Dak Prescott and MICHAELH. Parsons. They are tied to the hip.
Yeah, I mean he definitely needs him. Like you said, you know, I look at this from multiple levels. First off, I was confused this heck, and I didn't realize if Ceddee Lamb was saying lol. To the fact that he mentioned that he went to high school and college and he got a master's in a PhD or whatever else, I'm like, what does that even have to do with anything? But this idea that he's you know, he has no sense of urgency. Heck, here, you have a sense of urgency. You're the Dallas Cowboys. You're supposed to be the America's team. You're supposed to have a sense of urgency to put together a team that can go far. And I think this says a lot. I mean, I love the way CD Lamb plays the game. I mean we talked about it. We see his numbers. I mean he was just a little bit away from having the wide receiver triple crown, I mean to lead the league in everything.
Peter, you said it.
He is an elite and elite wide receiver. Why wouldn't you pay this elite wide receiver? That befuddles me.
What's interesting in this one is that you know they're the same draft class, He and Justin, Jefferson and Auk, all of them.
So they get to this point and some of these.
Guys it's it's gonna be different because of the way they are on their team. But it was Jefferson all spring, it was is he gonna get paid?
He?
Is he gonna get paid? He get paid? He got paid? Ik all spring we heard, is he gonna get paid? Is he gonna get paid? He's gonna get paid? We're waiting Ceedee. Lamb has been quiet. He's like, I'm gonna be out in Houston. I'm gonna be working out to do my thing.
But it hasn't been fireworks, it hasn't been lines from the agent out publicly. It's been relatively civil. Just hasn't got done. It's almost like Jerry, whether he meant to do it or not. But this complete like ah, no urgency, And again you never know with an open mic what Jerry's gonna say. But does that light the fire and does that enrage Cede Lamb? And now are we talking about a guy who's gonna fully hold out this season and demanded trade or whatever. We'll see hopefully this was just a comment and a Twitter thing and then by the end of summer we've got a deal.
But I don't know.
It certainly isn't tracking in the right direction, and it certainly starts our show off because it is actually news when the owner is talking and saying I have absolutely no energy urgency for one of the best wide receivers in the sport.
Isaiah, you're shaking your head. You said, I mean, I mean if I'm CD, I'm pissed. I mean that that was that was That was a slap in the face.
You know, it was one of it.
It wasn't a it wasn't a we're gonna say Eddie Murphy's lap, right, whatever it might be, it wasn't.
One of those.
That's why Ceee Lamb laughed. Right, it's almost laughable. And you saw how serious and how much of a pain point it was for mister Jones sitting there as he really thought about what he was going to say, whenever you have to take a look before before you come in, you know that there's a pain point because you're at a point of resistance. That you guys both understand that the deal needs to get done. You guys both understand that you want to be there and you want each other to be a part of this deal going forward. But there's just a lot of logistics that go along with it. So yes, it's laughable when he says there's no sense of urgency, because see he knows that there's a ton of urgency on the back end that are probably happening right now with the negotiating.
There's a fine line between doing business and playing hard business and then resentment. You can really start turning into resentment, and then that thing can break up, that can break up.
The band for sure.
We had Andrew Whitworth in studio yesterday and he's gonna be on the call for Rams Cowboys this weekend, and we asked him about this scenario, and I thought it was so interesting that with a little bit what Jerry Jones said with intention, he said, I really focus on the Dak contract, and I really focus on the Mica contract. And then he started talking about those two and I was like, wait a second, there's always a third face there. But even someone who has played for as long won a Super Bowl is in the media now covering the entire league with Andrew Whitworth is even going as far as say, if it were me, I would focus on quarterback, the leader of your offense and the leader of your defense and getting that done.
And if I'm Ceedee Lamb, I get it.
You are a star in this league and frankly, you did everything possible last season to justify getting paid this season. However, I think it's just bad timing for Cede Lamb that he has to overlap with Dak and Micah this offseason. For Jerry Jones to sit there, he is smart. I think that's why he's saying it is like I have been through, as Peter said, a million contract negotiations. I've lived a football life.
I know what I'm doing here.
So when I say I don't have a sense of urgency, he means it. So Isaiah, I ask you, do you think Jerry Jones is trying to set the tone at this point? Like CD, I understand where you're coming from, but I have other things that I need to accomplish because if the boss says it, then there has to be some kind of trickle effect to the CD, but also the rest of the team.
Yeah.
I think it's a valiant effort, you know, and I respect I've referd to Missus Jones's double JA. I believe it's a valiant effort. But the reality is, you need this guy. You need CD Lamb on the field. Dak needs CD Lamb on the field. You have a Brandon Cooks in there that's the most established receiver on your depth chart right now in the training camp. You have to have a CD in there to go out there and make those plays. And when he's not present, everybody else suffers because this offense is now what three weeks away, four weeks away from hitting the field. They have to get this deal done, and you're right, it is bad timing, But the reality is it's going to be a CD Lamb deal, a Dak Prescott deal, and then a Michael Parsons deal. Michael Parsons has one year left or two years left this season and next year left on his deal.
There is no rush to get Michael Parsons done.
You have the franchise tag that you could really use on Michael Parson's next year.
Hopefully it never gets to that.
So yes, he's in the thought process because all those numbers have to work together and cohesively. But the reality is, the only two people that you have a sense of urgency for right now is your receiver.
In your quarterback.
Okay, well, I feel like having played both positions, it's for you. It's helpful to understand that dynamic. And Peter really quick, Bill, I know we're going to break, but Peter, just remind every one of how this works because in Dallas, the business operations side is very different than a lot of other teams. A lot of teams have a salary cap guy.
How does it work with the Cowboys?
Yeah, they do too.
It's just that at the head of the head of it is Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones, his son. Those are the two that are making decisions. Will McClay is their scout and also their front office expert who does a lot of work there. But Jerry and Steven are essentially who you're working with, and Steven really in the cockpit probably for a lot of this. So you like to say, like, let's keep the owner out of this. Let's just talk about us as the contract guys. Like no, No, the owner is very involved in Dallas, so when he speaks, doesn't just represent a guy who owns the team, it also represents someone who is very much involved with.
The roster management.
All right, once again, we will stay on this on GMFP because this is a fascinating watch for the Cowboys. This is not just drumming Cowboys conversation up in the off season. This is very interesting to watch unfold tonight preseason continues. It's the debut of Justin Fields in a Steelers uniform. Mike Tomlin announced earlier this week that Fields would be Tonight's starter against the Houston Texans.
And where can you watch it?
Right here in NFL Network Steelers Texans. It's tonight on NFL Network. Still to come on our show, though.
Vibe check God.
I hate saying that the Falcons are very positive heading into this weekend. We're going to talk to their defensive tackle. Friend of the show as always, Grady Jared. But still coming up on our show up far earlier this week?
Was it last week?
Time is all in a vacuum right now? You sat down with Max Crosby and we get to hear it now.
Yeah, yeah, we do. It's a really good interview. You get to go inside the mind of mister Max.
Crosby, within the tattoos.
Within the tattoos.
Behind the tattoos, there's Isaiah span.
Back, good morning.
Max Crosby has the stats and highlights. His impressive resume with the Raiders is enough to blow your mind. And just his first five years, number ninety eight has been mister reliable for the Silver and Black. Last season, he played every single defensive snap in ten games. Like all top tier players, Max is all about chasing greatness. He never stops when in whatever he does. He's always going full throttle in everything. And so I swung by Raiders camp earlier this week to catch up with the defensive superstar. You gotta check it out there he is.
What's up man? Hey dot men?
Hey don't boy, you got the Mount Rushmore on the chest? Huh oh yeah, that's it right there. So yeah, first off, let's just appreciate the vibe out here, Like, how are you appreciating the training camp vibe?
It's been incredible.
You know, the team, you know, we're focused on getting closer and doing things together. And learning who we are and meeting each other's families, meeting each other's kids. You know, I got to meet Jack Jones and his kids and our and our kids are playing together. Like that's what it's all about. You know, we're coming closer as a unit. Ap has been very clear about what he wants from us, and he trusts us to do what we need to do.
And it's a well oiled machine.
Coach AP has this energy and they say he's a he's a player's coach, but I'm seeing and witnessing him mf the heck out of you guys in practice. I mean he's getting after y'all talk about Coach Ap.
Yeah, Ap has been incredible. I believe in him. At the end of the day. He's a competitor. He loves the game of football. He lives it. He's a football lifer. And you can feel his energy. It's infectious. And you know it's like people say, oh, he's a players coach. That means it's just pats in the backs. He's one of us. Like, yeah, well you watch one of us. I'm mfing people too. And we got that relationship with each other as a team where we can do that and it's not sensitive and you start hating to do because he's saying, like me and AP can have a real conversation, he can get me. He's like, come on, Max, let's go. And I'm like, watch me what you know. We're talking back and forth. But like that was what he was like when he was a linebacker coach, you know what I mean. We had the relationship before and other guys did as well. So yeah, you just see great energy and it's real. I think the best coaches know how to coach everybody different, and I think it does a great job of that.
In your five years. In that time, you've gone through four different coaches, You've gone through different quarterbacks. Things have changed a lot for the Raiders here, but the one thing that is stayed consistent is number ninety eight.
Max Crosby. What does that feel like to you? To be like that staple for the Raiders?
It means a lot, you know, for me, I don't ever try to be something I'm not. I'm one hundred percent myself.
You know.
Back when I was younger, I you know, I felt like I tried to people please too much. I was caring about what other people, you know, thought about me, and I tried to be something that they wanted me to be. And as I've grown and as I've learned who I am, and you know what I'm about. I don't need to be nobody but myself being a staple though organization. Well, I've been here five years, We've only made the playoffs once. It doesn't sit right with me, you know, So I want to be a staple of winning.
You know, it's crazy.
I see the one man wrecking crew, a game wrecker on the field, but then on the other side, you know, I see.
A proud father, a baby Ella.
How do you balance the lifestyle of being an elite football player but then being a father and a husband.
You know, unfortunately, there really isn't balance. You can't. You know, at the end of the day.
People always talk about balance, but if you have equal balance across your life, you're probably going to be average in most things. And that's just what it is. So, you know, that's the that's the reality of what we're doing. But I don't love it. I live it, you know what I mean. It's every single day you have to have people around you that understand what you're trying to achieve. And I said that before. But Rachel is fully on board and understands what I'm trying to get done. So she has to sacrifice. I have to sacrifice. I know my time is. I'm not going to be home all the time to be with Ella, but I'm doing it for a bigger reason.
She get what daddy for sure?
Yeah, I got.
Videos I can send you, but we'll put videos on the TV. Your mama when she's like freaking out or something. She'll put like highlight videos of me on the TV. And she points and celebrates and gets all hype, like she fully understands.
She might not be able to count to ninety eight, but she can spot ninety.
Get spot me from all the way. I mean the tattoos.
But who's missing on your chest? Though?
Who's missing? I got my daughter?
Okay, I see I see your goats.
I love my roses, Rachel, Rose, La Rose, all my girls. Pretty much everybody miss it.
I was gonna tell you missing Magic Johnson. But Larry Larry bird Man, Okay, Oh you know the history.
Oh, come on, you.
Know the history.
Yeah, I'm doing I'm building my new house in Vegas right now. It'll be done after the season. And they're doing a huge mural. We got a like an indoor basketball court being bill there. It's going to be all the legends, Okay, Larry Bird football wise, like throwbacks like Doug Atkins most people don't even know about in the seventies and eighties.
Just warrant sad.
This is your Mount Rushmore, this is your crib, this is mine, this is Crosby's Rushmore.
Yeah, it's gonna have Kobe, Mike.
I'm gonna throw myself on there, Mike Tyson, Okay, Nate Diaz probably who's.
Gonna be right next to you in the mirle.
It's gonna be Kobe and Mike, Kobe Mike. I'm not two biggas inspirations, hands.
Down, no, douve Man. I appreciate you. Yeah.
A big shout out to Max for taking the time to sit down and talk with me. You know, I learned so much about him in this interview and he had me really thinking. As competitive, competitive as he is, I can't wait to see how competitive this defense is gonna be. They've had their struggles throughout the years, and I can tell you Max Crosby is gonna be a game changer and a difference make on that defense.
I tell you, it got me fired up watching Antonio Pierce run around with those guys like he absolutely looks like he can still play.
It resonated.
And when Max Crosby said he knows how to coach everybody differently, but for as much of a maniac as Crosby is on the field, what a chill guy just sitting there and thinking about life and explaining his reasoning behind stuff.
Awesome. It was so good.
Yeah, Max Crosby, there was dropping absolute bars when you started talking about his family and whenever he started talking about himself and being really sure of who he is as an individual. That's one of the most dangerous people that can walk this earth. So when those football players stopped caring about the outside and they stopped listening to that noise and they are really true to who they are, watch out what he's going to do on the field this year.
What I think is fascinating akbar is as he's talking about He's like, well, he was our linebackers coach, and You're like, oh, he must have been their linebackers coach, like you know, ten years ago, and now he's a head coach. It happened so fast for Antonio Pierce, and one of the major major voices in that building to Mark Davis was Max Prosby preaching that this is the guy, like, don't go out and hire someone on the outside.
You've got our guy. He got us plan.
And again they I said this twice now on this week, when we've toted in this. They responded in their offense, I have no idea what to expect this year. You let Josh Jacobs walk out of the building.
That's on you.
I don't know who's throwing the ball, whether it's Minshew or O'Connor, we'll see. But that defense, that defense is absolutely loaded. And for Max's benefit, they added Christian Wilkins, who I think is a top five defensive tackle on the inside to an already really good defense. So if you're talking about defensive Player of the Year candidates, you're talking about top players. Yeah, he's a top ten guy. Max Crosby could be even better in twenty twenty four. And I can't wait to see. And that's just an excellent interview.
Far well done, Well appreciate it.
And I will say one other observation I made was just sitting there and really watching, you know, Ap, sometimes you got to just sit back and watch it. I'm looking at the way he's coaching, the different position he gets after the guys, and there's.
This idea that if you are a player's coach, you're going to take it easy. We'd hurt.
Max talked about that. He doesn't take it easy on the guys, but he knows how to relate to the guys. He knows how to point and plug and try to get the guys to get the best out of the guys. So it's going to be a different Raiders for sure this season.
Yeah.
I mean you started talking about the ability to be able to connect with the players.
That is huge.
I had an opportunity to meet up with Ap actually during the PAC twelve Championships down there in his home, and you could tell that he really just has a hurt.
He feels comfortable, he feels confident.
And when you have somebody that you can live, can you understand that they understand what you're going through.
He can talk to me like that.
I can receive that information because I know that you're not just talking from what you've heard, You're talking from what you experience.
I'm not the football historian that Peter is. But you say it's going to be a new Raiders this season, and that's probably compared to what we've seen over them in the last couple of years. But this feels like nasty Raiders teams of past, right, and so it's almost like a vintage Raiders.
It's coming full circle.
I like that vintage Raiders. We gotta we got to make sure we hold on to that one. I like that one.
We might we might need to suit up on offense though, because I don't know who's scoring.
That is going to be right?
To be right?
And the Raiders kick off their preseason schedule Saturday against the Minnesota Vikings.
That is a game. Have you heard? You can see it on NFL Network. Do you want exciting NFL action this season? Do you?
You can stream live out of market preseason games on your mobile device and your TV with NFL Plus.
But here's what fifs do You've designed up today at plus dot NFL dot com.
Live preseason games subject to blackouts.
But it was actually very helpful. Last night.
I had the Plus fired up on my phone, I had the Patriots game on, and then I was watching the Plus with the Lions and the Giants and the Bears.
Oh my, Sherry Buris, you are in studio at US. Good morning to you.
You're wearing your where by Ea couture look at you and representing the shields.
Good morning. What's happening a cherry?
No Lions, Tigers, Bears, Jamie's venture. But you also talked about the Panthers earlier, and we are happy to report that the Panthers are safe this morning after a very scary landing after their game against New England. It was overnight a little after two thirty am Eastern. They're playing, ran off the taxiway at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
Went into the mud, but luckily no injuries.
Now turning into quarterback Nick Foles, he's immortalized outside the Link in Philadelphia with a statue commemorating the Philly Special.
Well.
Now he'll officially end his career in the city of brotherly life fulls, announcing Thursday he's retiring as a member of the Eagles when he returns to Philadelphia for their September sixteenth home opener against the Falcons. Member Folds played it for six teams over eleven NFL seasons, but he burned Super Bowl MVP in Super Bowl fifty two in that wind over the Pats pulling off the iconic Philly Special. The Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell announcing quarterback Sam Darnold will get the start Saturday against the Raiders. O'Connell also saying rookie JJ McCarthey will get a significant amount of playing time and Jarger's head coach Jim Harbaugh will see a very familiar face across the field Saturday when they take on the Seahawks. His son, that is Jay. He's a special teams coordinator for the Seahawks. Jim talked about what it's going to be like going up against his son.
I know it's going to.
Be a real, real competition, a real test for our special teams unit. I know he's going to bring it. So it's it's really good for us, you know. At the same time, his son, Jay, that's gonna be. That's gonna be cool.
Be.
We've been on the opposite sidelines two or three other times.
But it's it's all love.
I love.
I remember Jay spend three seasons on John Harbaugh's staff in Baltimore before and his dad at Michigan. But you guys know, football is family, so it's gonna be a very very special reunion at Sofi Stadium over there.
Yeah, yeah, it is.
You know, like I've got an older son, and I know right now he's in that stage of his life where he's always trying to compete. I can I can lift more than you, I can run faster than you. So you know Jay's gonna be hitting up Pops if they win that game.
Preseason or not. He's gonna let him know, like I got.
You football, It is indeed family, Sherry. However, I feel like it HiT's different in the Harbaugh family. I feel like they get after one another, like this is just preseason week one, and you got Dad Harbaugh up there saying I know they're special teams. Unit's really gonna bring it. It's like, why, why what's.
Going on here?
Can we like take it down a click? Harbaugh's wife is probably like, can we just not have to fight about this later? I think it's it's awesome that it's been kept in the family. But Jay Harbaugh has definitely made a name for himself in general with his coaching career.
Yeah, a little Harbor and Harball crime never hurts, and we've seen it before.
You know.
The reality is he's got Smiths preseason, so you're not going to see nothing too crazy. As much as you like to play into the fact that these guys are going ahead to head, it's going to be as simplistic as vanilla as you can possibly imagine. Now, if they were to face each other in the regular season, got to be a little bit different. You might see some things, some things come out of the play like that you've never seen before.
But you know what, it's family.
I remember playing against my brother in the preseason and you know, I mean just chirping it, my bro, it's the preseason, all right, got it?
I got it? You're better. Your team won. I mean, you know, like, come on, leave me alone.
How was he able to do that? Didn't you play the same position?
And we played plays? But it's just my team still. I was on the team. I'm on that team. You're on that team.
Like it doesn't matter when your brother is across the sideline like that, Like I wonder if the Harballs do this, Like are you keenly aware of where he is standing?
Over one hundred percent you're looking at the flight. I don't want to take away from the Harballs, but there I remember one game. I don't even know why this came to my head right now, but it was that Brett Favre game. Yeah, and my brother was having a game and I remember he got a second I.
Was like, oh no, I actually did it. Like I was like, oh, what are you doing?
That's awesome. Well, good luck to the Harbos this weekend.
I think in general, we're just happy to have Harballs back on the West Coast.

Rady, good morning football.
We're about got good morning football.
Jameis Winston is a GMAFE Hall of Famer guest favorite.
He never disappoints.
So he's asked yesterday about starting quarterback in Cleveland Shaun Watson, and it's confidence he has in him.
Well, Jamis delivered.
I think that's one of the things that a lot of people forget. When you can go out, you can see practice, you can nicknack this, that paddy wack, give a dog a bone. Deshaun Watson is gonna turn it on. He always gonna find a way to shine when the lights come on. Man, I just rhyme.
Leave off that, but I know definitely gonna hit.
Like he didn't know what he was with. He help everybody out. Where's that from? And frankly, I challenge her to keep it going.
Yeah.
So if you guys are are into movies, like you guys need to go back and watch Don't Be a Minisce While Drinking Juice is from the Old Wayans Brothers. Anyways, there's a scene from that and that's exactly where it came from.
But this dude is.
The greatest hype man in football, Jameis Winston is an absolute class that he's gonna be able to do whatever he wants media wise when he gets finished playing. But he understands exactly what his role is on this team. It is to come in and support the main man. And if something was to happen with the break glass scenario, he's able to step in there and take care of business.
But I love his energy and his enthusiasm all the time.
Just do do the whole thing.
You just go ahead, got nick knack anyway, give a dog a bone? Zero zero nine oops out of time. My bacon's smelling fine.
If you know, you know, I bet you there's gonna be so many people out there right now, including Peter. I know Peter's gonna go to YouTube.
He's gonna go look it up. No, I don't need you too, I know. Don't be a manison. I see where they come in and Omar Epps is actually there.
Hey, ok, bar, I know more pop culture than you do on your work saying, so we can don't be a.
Minute, dude, I apologize.
I'm not Kyle.
I know all cultural things.
Peter you know, and look, I don't want no smoke man, I don't want no smoke.
I apologize screen taking away o par what do you think of Jamis?
That was to me that he just went to church? On him, man, he just went to church. I was having a moment. But you know what, I also love about the positive energy. You know, I think a lot of people kind of you know, he had a one corny moment where he was, but you know, the dude is supporting his quarterback. But I think also too, it's it's actually kind of a like a little backwards little thing like be very supportive and Deshaun Watson, if you mess up, guess what I'm coming in and you better support me the same way you better support me, to say.
The churmer is there, Peter, beyond the movie reference, your thoughts on Jamis just his presence he might have in Cleveland.
It's awesome, and it's like, you know, here he is. He goes to the Saints and backs up Drew Brees and then you're like, all right, well James is getting his opportunity.
And then it wasn't Jamis's time.
They went to a different quarterback and I think Andy Dalton was the quarterback, and.
It's like, well, when is it going to be Jamis's time.
It wasn't in New Orleans, so now we go here and it's just it's tremendous to see him still smiling and he's suddenly become this like veteran presence that these guys can lean on because you forget here and okbar and I say, you know, Jamis was a good NFL quarterback. James is one of the best college quarterbacks of all time. So the respect is there from these guys.
His career is legit. He can put his resume up against anybody.
He started for five years in Tampa and was a number one overall pick.
So you look at what Jamis can bring here.
Look, Joe Flacco was a Cinderella story, but you're right, Achbar, if it's in case of emergency and you need to throw in Jameis Winston like he can win you football games. He also happens to be one of the best quotes in the sport.
And I'll add this.
As much as we love the Kelsey brothers and their podcasts, and we love all the podcasts that are out there, if Jamis was to get a podcast, I would be a weekly listener and I would love to listen to Jamis just speak on life. So yes, the movie reference, akbar, I'm loving you at you are the best.
We are going to go watch a.
Lot of movies and you'll be surprised how many types of movies.
I am boiling very well versed in saying.
I'm on one side, so I need to open up my book as well.
So Peter, I personally subscribe to the season with Peter Schrager. I mean, that's the only podcast I listened to to get all my podcasts.
That would be a banger, the Jamis Winston podcast. We're just putting that out there. I mean, that's Peter. You just put that out there that I would click and subscribe on that one.
For sure.
I would bet that there is a media a company or two that have approached Jamus Winston on like they are lining up at the door to me. Just a final thought of this, it is interesting that the Browns keep bringing in such competent quarterbacks and ones of high charisma and character. Between Joe Flacco to Jameis Winston, that like that is an interesting dynamic in the quarterback room in Cleveland. We'll say it as such because we're kind of still waiting to see what Deshaun Watson can do at that position in Cleveland. Perhaps we should rename the first week of the preseason Rookie Watch, because it's important for them to get snaps, it's important for them to define their roles within the team, and coaches can get good eyeballs on these guys.
So let's go around the table.
And name the rookie that we are most excited to watch this season. Off bar, the man in my head tells me that you have to go first.
Oh well, I will tell you first. Off, it is hands down Xavier Worthy. I am so excited to see what he's going to do. I don't even know that we're going to even see that much of him as far as like big plays, explosive plays during the preseason. I have this feeling that they're going to kind of try to hold him back, so we don't know what to expect from him during the season. I think the very first time we're going to see his speed his excellence is probably going to be again in that game against the Baltimore Ravens. Look, I mean, there's been so much buzz coming out of training camp. You have the best quarterback in the League throwing to the fastest player in the league. Just think back to all of the explosive plays Tyreek Hill had for the Kansas City Chiefs. I think he has the same ability to bring that same type of power, that diversity that exposed him those big exposive plays. Exaber Worthy is going to be the one to watch. I just want to see what he moves like out there, how he runs his routes, what kind of different areas they utilize them in. But I'm sure that they're gonna probably put them multiple positions too.
I do think it's an interesting point that they won't open him up too much because they want to hide back what he is capable of. But at some point you do have to practice like life timing.
Though with Patrick Mahomes, I.
Would think, yeah, you want to you want to see that, and they have a lot of speed offensively, But I'm gonna see that and I'm gonna raise it up just a little bit. Okay, I'm gonna go over to Atlanta Falcons and I'm gonna look at my man, Michael Penix Junior. And that's not just because I was a former Washington quarterback and he's now a former Washington quarterback. It's all about the fact that he is a complete beast, and he's a one heck of a passer. By the way, he was drafted top ten, right, Yeah, and then they went ahead and gave Kirk Cousins prior to that one hundred and eighty million dollars.
So if Michael Pennex.
Junior goes out there and does even remotely similar to what he did in college, there might be a little.
Quarterback country Oh for you're a Homer, or they gave Kirk Cousins the bag.
But the thing is, this dude is a bona fide passer. He's been one of the best passes in college football.
Over the past few years. And this dude can make all the thros.
So if he goes out there and shows out, I think Kirk Cousins might be a little bit uncomfortable.
Isiah, you say, everything was such a smile on your face, but you just lied to the people.
That absolutely why you Michael Pennick, Homer.
What are we doing?
But what's funny about Isaiah is saying is that with the Kirk Cousins of Michael Pennock Junior, think from a personality standpoint, those two are fairly similar in my opinion, knowing for cousins coming from Minnesota and then getting to know Michael Pennocks junior in the draft process. These two likable, big smiles, nice guys that are going to lead in the room and welcome everybody in big hugs. Yet now they're competing at some point. It's kind of crazy. Peter, you got a rookie that we want to keep an eye on.
Yeah, I'm looking over in Philadelphia where defensive back has been a nightmare for them the past couple of season, and they drafted one out of the Mac Conference in the first round. He was the first defensive back.
Off the board. I'm looking at Quinion for the Eagles.
A lot of talk in camp out He's been running his mouth a little bit, has been having some bite in.
Some bark, which I love.
The Eagles defensive backfield has been much maligned over the last couple of years.
We hear about it, and of course.
The Philly media, but if you read any of those crossing rod like type of websites or Twitter thing, it's always a question of who is going to start at corner this season.
Who is going to be our guy?
Well, Howie Roseman said, I'm getting this one, and I'll tell you this guy is uber confident. He could have transferred to anywhere he wanted. He could have gotten all that nil money from one of the big schools. He said, I want to finish my career in the Mac and go on to be one of the best players to ever play in this conference.
He did. He's a first round pick. Quinnion Mitchell.
I want to see if he can get a little pick six or maybe even just a couple of dbus.
This is one of those deals or pbu's.
This is one of those deals where there is a lot of eyes on him this season, and this will be the first time.
I get to see him in actual live action in the NFL.
We always love when the Mac and puff their chest a little bit when it comes to draft picks.
I am in action. I told a story earlier this week.
Isay about this Quantus Stay, who is the third player since sixty seven to be drafted in the NFL but not have played college football. His story is awesome, but it really sounds like he is hanging within this Jets defense, which is so important because if any defense is gonna last, no matter how many games you out of the regular season. In the NFL, no matter how deep you get into January, you have to have layers, depending on injuries, depending on time spent on the field. And if you can have a guy like Stiggers, where you get him in the fifth round coming out of CFL, he's fresh, he's young. His non traditional path to the NFL might not look the way you would have thought because he's not coming out of the MAC or he's not coming out of the Pac twelve or Pack fourteen, or we're gonna call it but whatever. Robert Sala says that they have an NFL caliber quarterback in this defense, yet is he a starting cornerback? And the fact that he even used that phrasing for quantas singers is fantastic. The story is cool, but if it delivers this weekend, it's gonna get even better. And frankly, if he's gonna hang with Jayden Daniels for the Commanders, who they're starting at quarterback, to be really cool as well. There he is wearing the thirty seven peter in the highlight from that Giants game. I wanted to ask you from the jests of the Giants, I remember Tyrone Tracy from the Combine. He's so charismatic with a really cool story. You must have been pretty impressed with his debut last night.
Yeah, it five carries.
He's running the ball well, and I think the big question is who's going to fill in for sake one, how a they going to fill that hole? Well, we know they drive. They signed Motor Singletary and obviously they've got a couple of these guys Eric Rays on the roster. But if you're looking at rookies, you have to love what Tyrone Tracy did, and from what I was hearing at camp, he's been outstanding all season. So Giants fans, we know your team played last night, but Tyrone Tracy had a Purdue a guy who played wide receiver and then moved to running back and had his family in the crowd while he was working out in Indianapolis at the Combine. That's one of those rookie stories you got to pull for and you gotta watch if you're a Giants fan.
It's absolutely right.
Peter pulling back the curtain, slash breaking the fourth wall.
