Dr. Peter T. Nelson, MD, PhD is a Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and Director of Neuropathology at the University of Kentucky, with a strong focus on Alzheimer’s disease, neurodegenerative disorders, and neuropathology research. 

The Markesbery Symposium is held annually by the University of Kentucky’s Sanders-Brown Center on Aging in memory of Dr. William R. Markesbery, founding director of the center and pioneer in Alzheimer’s disease research
