Mike Ferguson in the Morning 07-01-24
Illinois Rep. Mike Bost talks about a Chinese purchase of agricultural assets in Cahokia, IL. COFCO International Ltd. is a Chinese state-run company and China's largest state-owned food processor and grain dealer. COFCO is short for the China Oil and FoodStuffs Corp., one of the largest food-processing companies in the world. It recently acquired the Cahokia Heights grain terminal, a transloading grain facility on the Mississippi River across from St. Louis. Representatives Bost (IL-12) and Nikki Budzinski (IL-13) are requesting a review of the acquisition in order to weigh the consequences for America's national security and the region's agricultural economy.
