THE WIRE UNTANGLED: The selection question and the curious case of Cai Taylor-Wray

View descriptionShare

It's time for Episode 27 of our weekly Warrington Wolves podcast.

Matt Turner, Mike Parsons and Gareth Dunning regather to go back over The Wire's win over Huddersfield Giants - and Gareth makes a big declaration about how important he feels the result actually was...

It did allow Wire to secure their play-off place, with a home eliminator tie next on the tick list - they are in a strong position for that while they retain a faint hope of gatecrashing the top two. With that in mind, we discuss how Sam Burgess may approach team selection given the need to keep players as fresh as possible given their gruelling recent run.

We also talk about Toff Sipley's season-ending injury - the only real blot on an otherwise perfect fortnight for Warrington - and ask how big a loss the New Zealander is for the crunch games, while we also ask whether or not Cai Taylor-Wray has a part to play in what remains of 2026.

Attention then turns to Saturday's trip to Hull FC and with future Black and Whites coach Steve McNamara getting a live view of his future charges from the Warrington coaching bench, do they have to be ready for a more motivated home side?

All of that and more in this week's episode of "The Wire Untangled" - the Warrington Guardian's dedicated Warrington Wolves podcast.
