Scranton Tomorrow Electric City Classic

View descriptionShare

WILK's Jason Barsky has the details of an exciting August weekend coming up with Liz Baldi and Joshua Mast of Scranton Tomorrow.

The inaugural Electric City Classic, a project of Scranton Tomorrow presented by The Wright Center for Community Health with support from community-minded sponsors and media partners including: The City of Scranton, Lackawanna County Visitors Bureau, WNEP-TV 16, Entercom Communications, The Times-Tribune, DiscoverNEPA, and Lamar Advertising Company is set for Saturday and Sunday August 24 and 25.

The Electric City Classic is a Criterium (referred to as a Crit in cycling communities). The event is a race on a short-circuit course where hundreds of professional and amateur cyclists complete multiple laps at speeds up to 45-miles per hour, just inches away from each other.   In addition to the main cycling event on Saturday, the Electric City Classic will feature the Electric City Classic Hill Climb on Sunday, August 25, on Olive Street, a historic cobblestone street in the city’s Hill section.
